Would a viable option be to swap the trait effect of ‘concealed defeat’ with the effects of ‘last refuge’, so instead of stealthing when below 25%hp you instead drop a smokescreen, and when downed you stealth for 3 secs if you’ve picked up the ‘concealed defeat’ trait, instead of dropping a smokescreen. Especially as a blind/projectile absorb is unlikely to save you when you’re in downed state.
i do not think a-net wants us to be happy, so even if you have a good idea, it won’t be implemented

Okay I main thief and have until today mostly sPvPed with my thief.
I rarely encounter HS spammers, and most other thieves that cross me usually end up rather dead.
But lately playing as an ele I realize that a majority of thieves out there really just spam the number (2) button. It’s super annoying and frankly lame. Now I know why when thief vs. thief fight happens I come up on top like about 80-90% of the time, because you can’t really HS spam when your opponent is stealthed, and apparently 80% of thieves out there is used to HS spamming to glory.
Not sure what the fix is without severely gimping the class against other top tier classes (eg. Mesmer, stun lock zerker war), but man I think something should be done about the HS spam. May be further half the damage above 50%, and double when below, to force the cheese players to press some other buttons and not clobber other classes by just pressing one button repeatedly.
Granted I sux as an ele, but no class should be able to beat another class by pressing just 1 button repeatedly.

so yea I mostly play mesmer and I really cant do enyfing againt condi thief with carrion set what ever I do he usealy comes out with 75% of hes health. im not bad on mesmer direct dmg thief is fightable. like I need general tips.

Almost all of the achievements would take a moderately dedicated WvW player 10 to 15 years to get. Or in other words, just about no one will ever finish these achievements.
GW 5 will likely be out by then and I doubt GW2 servers will be kept going for that long.

I’m not going to call them “thieves”, that’s ridiculous and makes no sense. They’re rogues and they’re insanely overpowered in GW2. They can attack and disappear into nothing even though a crowd of 20 people are standing on top of them.
Every other game that has stealth has done it reasonably, or at least put some effort into it. This is kittening ridiculous. They’re invulnerable and can pop back into stealth at any moment, unhittable by anyone.
Why isn’t this fixed yet?

My brother the other day says to me ,wth is going on , my thiefs hp’s dropped to 13,300 . Of course I started out ,are you full serker , did you change traits ,buffs ,banners ,and on and on . He swore nothing had changed other than his hp’s ! Thinking he was losing his mind ,I logged in to check my own thief .
For 2 days prior to this ,I had been toying with stats trying to get 17k hp’s and still maintain descent offensive stats . The night before I had just gotten thief to 16 ,586 hp’s , I log in , I am sitting at 14,031 . This baffled me ! I checked traits ,buffs ,banners everything I could think of . Nothing changed . I checked in Orr ,LA ,and wvw with no change . next day ,I log in and I now have 15 ,200 and my brother is at 14,500 . They put out a hotfix ,I log back in and I have gained 400 more hp’s
Wth is going on and are we the only 2 noticing this . Wanted to post here for feedback before I reported as bug ,just not sure what to think of this !

you will hug the ground very often, in my opinion
i don’t know who spread the crap that scolar runes are best … they are not !
power runes scale linearly, the precision/critical ones go exponential passing by much the power ones at a precision/cirt builds !
dps is not about pulling 10k damage once every 5 years, then 5k dmg
it is to constantly put 7-8k (via crits)

I have reached level 80 on my Necromancer Charr and I decided I wanted to try a new class.
try choosing again, maybe you will get lucky and like it

This skill makes the thief a boon stealer wich i really love! However i also love how most of the thief skills has to be used strategically and at the right moment, as this is not the case for Larcenous Strike (very spammable, no penalty for over use) I suggest the following:
make it so that it can steal 3 boons but cost 1 initiative for each condition stolen.
this would result in making this skill what i belive it was ment for. if only dealing dps this skill would be a bad choice, also if the opponent has only say regen and might this skill would also not be the best choice. however it would be an amazing choice still vs say a plauge form and a guardian with the protections and stability. I believe this change would be a change both nerfing AND actually making the thief S/D more fun.

critical strikes tree: the 1 and 3 (10sec furry and 7% extra crit from behind), +20% dmg under 50%hp
acrobatics: get the vigor on heal, or whatever suits you (remember, dodges are good to have)
trickery: trill of crime, 5% dmg from behind, merciful ambush (or sleight of hands)
trinkets and weapons: zerker (and some celestial if you wish)
helm, armor and pants PVT (because of lol crit damage ratio)
gloves,boots, shoulders zerker
and for the runes i use 5x ranger + 1 ruby orb (i don’t consider that 6x eagle is better)
i use d/d and bow (all zerk) and sword/pistol ( i use sentinel/zerk, or sentinel/sentinel)
skills: hide in shadows (for cond removal), signets of power and precision (good emergency cond clean and endurance fill), sr or haste (haste for the gate in cof p1) and daggerstorm (if many mobs)/TG/mistfire wolf
you get around 3k+ attack, 73% crit rate (without traits or furry) if you use minotaur steak (1h duration and under 50c i believe) and Quality Maintenance Oil (i am cheap…)
you get furry about 50% time, around 14k hp, and 100% crit chance if you have furry and strike from behind, with over 100% crit damage to boot
nerfs here i come ! even if it’s a pve setup :P
you need to dodge the big stuff, or you get 1 hited

So I will make this short and sweet. I used to run an all thief wvw guild from around launch till about 4 months after launch. We had a great time, everyone contributed.
We did not require 24/7 rep, but had scheduled times to be on our thieves in wvw most days of the week and ran together.Ever wonder what it would be like with 20 thieves popping Thieves’ Guild elite and scaring off a zerg? Done that.
Well, just as to get a little footing, I wanted to make a thread to see who would be interested in joining if such a guild was remade?
We would, of course vote on the server, and I’d def prefer one in with T3-5 range.

Let me start by saying i have 5 lvl 80s, a warrior included and over 8.5k achi points so i have been around.
During all my time in WvW and sPVP i have yet to see a more overpowered build than this.
Skull crack with sigil of paralysis gives 3.75 sec stun which can be followed by a 100b which has a total channel time of 3.30 sec. This usually results in death unless you use a stunbreaker. Thats nice and all except for the fact this combo can be repeated EVERY 7.5 SECONDS due to burst mastery. IN addition, due to fast hands weapon swap = 5 sec cooldown as well as gives adren.
Let me repeat it: You can perform a 3.75 sec stun due to skull crack —> 100b EVERY 7.5 Seconds. I am repeating this before some “pro” warrior comes to tell me to bring stun breakers. I have tried to go against this build with various builds on D/D ele, thief, guard and mis each bringing from 1-3 stun breakers and eventually you run out of em, At this point, you die.
Also, you can add in a shield stun which ADDS into stun duration. It can also help to land a skull crack due to the mobility it provides.
Last but not least, HEALING SIGNET IS EXTREMELY OP. 400 Hp/sec in addition to regen based on adrenaline (2nd minor trait in defense line) makes for quite a ridiculous regen which is unconditional and can be further enhanced by regeneration.
Now, have come flocking in here trying to defend your OP build. I will not be replying this thread because i know most of you have been longing for a buff for so long and now that you finally go it, you wanna clench to it, but at least show some objectivity in your responses

I have a lvl 80 thief that I have not geared yet and I want to start fractals and am wondering if thieves are good/useful for fractals or if I would be better off leveling one of my other alts.

cof path 1 doesn’t like the condition thief
and not any zerker parties will take a condi build
eg. don’t go AC path 1 or 3 with a condi char, you will only pull down the party
speed run parties are not consisted of condi builds
