Oh. Kitten. Right. I thought you meant your… uh… nvm.
Just remember – they grow up fast so be sure to start training him early for the Legion.
We also have to consider what the servers might look like if there were no cost..
- extremely stacked servers
- Major spying & trolling. Imagine whole guilds transferring to troll another serverWhat about adding a cool-down for transferring? Once transferred, you have to wait 1 month before transferring again.
All they need to do is to add rewards for sticking to your server.
To make an extreme fantasy scenario, you get a free precursor of choice if you have gathered say 100 WvW “server loyalty dailies” which consist of getting as much points as 1 rank or something. After that, it will tick up to 250 dailies, giving you a free legendary of choice. 500 dailies after that, you get a full legendary armor set (we all know its coming…). Etc and so on. If you transfer server, it take 3 months before you can start doing these dailies again and of course it all reset.
But it doesnt really matter, of course Anet will keep the transfer cost. Only WvWers suffer it so its free money for little to no effort for Anet. I cant imagine any sane Anet boss would ever agree to remove it or reduce costs.

Its easy to blaim the new camera for skills and siege going through walls and hitting stuff in out of view areas.
But really, its the game mechanics that are broken. We have always been able to see behind objects and around walls(people “hiding” when half their tag shows, lol).
So tell Anet to fix the frikkin broken skills already instead. Dragons tooth and arrowcarts should be LoS limited. Arrowcart should never even have the insta-response 360 no-scope triple-skills-at-once rain of hell firing mechanics, it should work like a catapult – charge to arc fire arrows, turn slowly by pressing keys. The same apply to ballista. All siege should function by the same rules. Just like all skills (ie nerf dragontooth)
I’ve suggested this before, and I’ll suggest it again. I’d love to see a system implemented like Eso and Tera where the mouse locks to the camera rotation unless you’re using it for the UI. My mouse is fine, but my middle finger has been feeling out of sorts because of constantly holding down the right mouse button.
There was a pretty complex autohotkey script once that simulated this to the letter (before ESO even came out).
Only problem is that Anets approach to such things are lalalalala scripts dont exist lalalalala dont say a word lalalala they are not allowed lalalalala and proceed to infract people just mentioning that you can macro and script stuff. All it really did was hold down your rigth mouse button and gave you a crosshair dot, the rest was done by changing settings/keys ingame.
Yeah I know where this post is going to end up. I just wish they’d make an official version of the more mouse driven control. Just a checkbox for it, thats all.
The cooldowns and shear amount of effects on the mesmers wells makes me really jealous. Anet were always so reluctant to reduce necro well cooldowns. But when you look at these ones im thinking lets have some major buffs to wells maybe.
Those are some pretty good effects but are they enough to actually bring extra Mesmers just to have them in the raid? Because that would still be the case. The Mesmer is a class that is very much “locked” in what has to use in a raid. There is no space for wells.
And are these really good enough to bring an extra Mesmer over an extra Necro? Hmm. Looking at what they do, possibly. I doubt they will replace a well bomber – the damage look mediocre. But if it turns out to be effective vs groups maybe we’ll see 3-4 Mesmers instead of just 1-2. If you already got 5 Necros and is debating whether to add a 6th or another Mesmer, it could be tricky.
Your right in the cooldowns though. Having all those 30s wells – especially the action well which could be a huge thing in a raid – make you wonder wtf Anet is thinking when we look at say well of darkness. There’s not even any comparison. If WoD would equal the Mesmer wells, it’d be on something like a 20s cooldown (seriously, its a kittenty blind and nothing more).
Hoping that the Necro will get a trait to double well duration to really making it strong is hoping for too much I suppose.

Already in the game. No idea how good it works though.
not that I am angry, far from. I just believe the system is very unfair. but I don’t care anymore that much
RNG by design is unfair.
I went into Silverwaste today thinking meh, can gather some ore and wood, do vinewrath for the gold. Well that failed because there was a chest run so I guess I had to join that instead. 45 minutes later, random portal drop from a mob I killed while catching up to the chest train. I didnt even want the darn thing, gave up the moment the patch released because RNG :S
L2P
-Signed all GW2 Thieves.
Too bad there is nothing to learn. There is no counter-play to stealth other than wildly flailing your weapon into thin air (which you do either way).
Not that Anet is ever going to fix anything, this kitten has been broken since release and Anet has always made it very clear that they love the Thief. So no need to worry about it.
6 is not that simple as it would require either a whole new method of siege deployment or a newly designed inventory with some account wide slots for specific items. Both is major rework.
Point 10 I do not agree that people should be able to tag above your 10-15% damage threshold. Only siege should be able to tag. A player running around scratching a door with his dagger to completely incapacitate defender spawn is and has always been kittened.
Otherwise I agree with all your points. Heck they even are simple for a change, unlike the people saying “omg I know the easy fix, make maps 10x larger with support for 1000 players and DX12 for 10,000% more perfomance, its soooooooo simple!!!!”.
Its not a problem you can solve, so no point in making it a big deal. Players are free to play on whatever account they want. At least they are still i the game, in the same tier. It could have been worse, the guilds just vanish.
Personally I think it waters down server pride just as megaservers did to PvE and would never use an alt account on another server. But maybe some find it fun.
Its separate caps. Players is one and siege is one. Anet will probably never say what EXACTLY is the limits.
Minis and minons have no cap afaik. Everyone on the zone can run MM necro if they want. You’ll probably make the server explode but that’s another problem.
Both Dry Top and Silverwaste is a “new generation” of the GW2 maps, having more involvement than any other map. IMO they are what GW2 advertised even before release but failed to truly deliver (cursed shore is the only zone that came close and even then it was a little too static, there’s no real take/retake mechanic like in Silverwaste). Only “problem” is of course that they are small compared to a normal GW2 map.
I’m hoping that HoT will introduce even better endgame zones.
I think 5-6 hours is a little too short. 12-24 hours may be better. I still am unsure how this would resolve any coverage issues though. What if Red Kingdom has multiple SEA servers, while the green and blue have next to none. Coverage wars 2.0
12 hour may resolve that. Interesting idea regardless
12 hours would make it even worse. As you say, coverage wars 2.0. If one side dominate the matchup for say 3 of those 12 hours, the others will just give up. Just look at how reset night is today. It doesnt matter how good your server is, if you dominate all night by pure numbers the others servers will be so demoralized over the weekend its already lost.
A 4 hour window in primetime would be much more balanced in terms of fights as guilds would determine victory, but its not WvW anymore, just a glorified PvP match. And if it occur outside the primetime window, its pointless again as coverage is everything. 12 hour or 4 hour matches, it does not help.
I maintain that this idea will not work. Its not WvW.
There is no tanking or support in GW2. Period. No build on any class can stand in the line of fire for an extended time and not die. No build on any class can bring more value to the group by focusing on support skills instead of attacking and using support reactively. This is a game where the fighting makes some actual sense, in that not getting hit is always better than getting hit, and not fighting is always worse than fighting.
Except that there is.
What, you think those commander guardians are running medi zerker roamer builds?
Hell there is even healers. Eles arent brought only for their meteor shower, they are a critical part of sustaining a raid – so that it can stand in the line of fire for an extended period of time and not die. Maybe they dont call themselves healers, but they bring the skills to do the job. Just like the frontline melee tanks does. Or the AoE zerker necros.
I assume we are talking about WvW since PvE is just a distraction where exactly zero of the GW2 skill mechanics have a moment to shine. If you dont run full zerker you are only trolling everyone else by scaling up content.
One of those things that happen to you all the time, yet you never think about it more closely, lol.
Cant test now, but doesnt chill reduce the speed of all animations and thus increase cast time? It always feel like slowmo when chilled. But maybe I am just imagining it.
Necromancer Pets will become stationary just like ranger spirits .. problem solved
That wouldnt be any change compared to how it is now?
While the overall idea is sound, it fails at a critical point – it rely on players to be able to organize very quickly and fight in a “short” ~6 hour campaign. Thats not going to work at all. Case of point – EoTM. Its not working as WvW.
Players can just barely organize right now with perpetual WvW maps and fixed servers. Even T1 servers fall apart as soon as a commander goes away to eat dinner and no one replace him. Just popping up map after map after map and expecting commanders and guilds to organize themselves there is just… ugh…
The ~6 hour battle also mean that no player that begin can end it (unless they are really hardcore). That probably means that a fight is determined after 2 hours – whichever commander leaves first (or loose the first couple of fights so that people leave him) will loose the fight. Players will not want to join in on a lost cause for a couple of hours.
TL;DR your idea is overcomplicated and wont work. WvW need a simple solution, not something that wreck havoc on everything we know (and love).
Problem is, I dont think there are any simple solutions. No matter how you twist and turn it, the varying population is the core of the problem. Not just on one server, on all three of them. You can use a “dynamic” overflow and say “hey only 200 people play right now, we’ll shut down 3 out of 4 WvW maps!”. But what if those 200 people are just 2 servers and the third is a French server or something that begins playing an hour later? Then you just created 50 man queues on EB for 2 servers just because people wanted to play WvW. GG, have fun. The system need to be much more predictable than that, we cant guess when an overflow close or open.
To salvage some of your ideas and keeping it simple, I would say employ the “timed” EoTM style battles on the borders but use regular WvW scoring. Just fixed borders with fixed open times. EB is open 24/7, border 1 open in the morning, border 2 and 3 in the afternoon followed by the closing of all three borders during the night. Times that are all made clear so that players can plan around them and the exact same the entire week. No points are made from closed borders, but they save their previous state when opening. For low tier servers, they can simply keep a border permanently closed as the system now allows more flexibility in how many zones there are.
Since you would no longer be able to join the match with your guild or anyone you know, I only agree with the change if EoTM is moved out of WvW and get its own “Karma Train” menu in the options bar.
A much simpler balance fix to EoTM is simply to disable PvP in the zone. That’ll do the trick.
And how likely is it that you would be using every single trait/skill in the whole game? In 99% of the cases people go with one build, and then stay with that build. Which 400 HPs would be more than enough for.
In fact, 400 points should be enough to get multiple builds.
Except WvWers dont have one build. We can have the roaming power build, roaming condi build, zerg build, raid build, commander build, gvg build, focus build… on the same kitten character. Across all professions. Hell I know people that are constantly changing traits between engagements depending on the situation. “Multiple builds” is not enough. A real WvW player will need all the builds, just like a PvP player will have them automatically.
Have they confirmed that PvE will at least have the possibility to get everything unlocked and changed at will? Because last I read it, it sounded like the fire-and-forget WvW skillpoints with an upper limit. Which would ruin everything GW2 stands for. I’m fine with doing PvE (have world exploration on 4 chars anyway, used to it now) if it unlocks everything.
If someone disconnect they will join the match again.
You will provably get a loss because its 4v5 and even 20 seconds without a 5th can determine a match.
Luckily EU peeps are automatically disqualified and dodged the bullet!
Good luck finding a replacement.
code 7-Alll keep lords and guards will have full permission to instant kill any threats and disturbance and ban them automatically temp. until Arena net investigate.
And Arenanet shall call this new system… “Skynet”.
Thats how it begins.
No need to involve the dailies. A “poor kitten” buff that kick in everytime you loose two matches in a row and award you almost as much points as a win if you loose the 3rd round is enough.
I think it’s awesome to see player organized gvgs in this game, there’s actually a 10v10 tourney going down in NA bronze tier right now. Organized by one person(hats off to Zeeb Rah). The more ppl gvg, the more it shows Anet that there needs to be arenas of some type in this game. There are already arenas all throughout Tyria, they wouldn’t even have to make new areas for it. Or stats or leaderboards to start out with, just the ability to fight and not bother other players. Be mad at Anet for dragging their feet to implement a non WvW map gvg mode, not the guilds who are trying to have a good time.
Its just too bad that would deplete the WvW population.
A major thing with whole GvG – at least for me – is that its part of the WvW world. Not something separate. Nothing more pleasing than to have intense battles for an hour, then do a scrim vs another guild on the island only to see 2 friendly guilds and 3 enemy guilds standing side by side watching. Followed by another hour of even more intense battles against the same guilds that has now kittened each other off, lol.
WvW without guilds would be a sad place.
How does a trait that removes a condition every time you evade an attack sound?
OP as all kitten, thats how.
Otherwise, I dont care much until I see the whole picture. There are a few… alarming… notes in it. Maybe I didnt understand it correctly, but the “hero points” sounds an awfull lot like a limited wvw skillpoint system, ie you allocate it once and then you are kittened if you want to change it.
Which would go against the very idea of why I love GW2, the freedom to build whatever.
But I didnt read into the details.
Well as a simple fix they could lower the damage output of zerker and compensate with somthing like 300 more vitality.
Oh wait…
They have a very special meaning.
That the community can stand up as one and say “wtf Anet are you kittening kidding us with this kittenty kitten implementation of a critical commander organization function we have wanted since kittening release that you are going to place behind a greedy kitten repulsive paywall for no kittening purpose” and actually change a developers mind on something?
Oh and they got pretty colors too, whatever.
I keep reading that GvG hasnt changed (which I agree with as noted above) and that blobs have more ranged than melee.
So… uhm… whats changed?
Then change to ranged if you want. All proffessions can do it.
Its really just cascade effect. The stability change hasnt changed the meta that much, but when pug zergs go more ranged the melee become more exposed which means more melee chicken out to go ranged.
Kresh and Ins ( SFR And Deso ) wanna blob more… GG
wonder why they complain FSP outnumber them always
Of course FSP always outnumber them. SFR and Deso only bring like 20 people to every engagement. At least thats what they say, I havent made any exact counts.
What was the max count originally? I think we got like 70 people (supply count) onto an empty border with a few roamers. After that, queue. So the limit is definetly higher than 60 at least.
You’re entitled to go wherever you want in WvW the same way you’re allowed to go wherever you want in a public park.
That still doesn’t make it acceptable to go and sit in the middle of someone’s picnic and demand to be included in their frisbee game.
This is just a terrible analogy. It would most definitely be acceptable to want to play, if you helped pay for the Frisbee. Both parties in this argument paid for GW2.
Well thats an even worse analogy. You helped pay for the park, not the frisbee. The frisbee wouldnt even have been tossed if there wherent two other people in the park.
To make an actual ingame comparison, thats like saying you helped pay for the chat bubbles used by two roleplayers, so they are obligated to let you in on their discussion.
Ice Age? I don’t see any woolly mammoths…
You clearly havent seen a naked Norn.
With that much luck you must have at least as much gold, expand your bank/inventory slots and put them in there? I fail to see what the big deal is. Either keep storing it or throw it away.
they are forum specialists or game specialists? first time I hear about this and now I have some problem understanding what are they doing and why ppl needs them
also, wtf is a forum specialist?
Not sure anyone understand, lol. For me the specialists came out of the blue as well and I am lurking on the forums alot. As I understood it back then, they where meant to be a link between devs and players on the forums. Gather the concerns of respective area, pvp, dungeons, wvw etc using players that have knowledge of the game.
But I am not sure if Anet ever really took part in it or if was just a marketing ploy to please the community. The reason why changes are made to GW2 is hidden deep in the mists. On the wvw forums we know that all too well, hahaha.
Luckily Anet has provided plenty of lubrication.
Use boosters in PvE, go for dailies and map completion. Go into PvP to get tomes. Karma train in EoTM or whatver zone that has a pug commander. Do PvE boss runs. Etc and so on.
Healing power is underpowered in everything. Celestial arent strong because of healing, its because of all the other stats making a balanced build.
Look at it this way – if you max out hp, your self-heal will go from maybe 4000→5000 hp (if even that). That’s 0.5 more seconds you can live against a dps build. Meanwhile, you sacrifice so much damage your ttk on an average target will triple.
To cut this poster off at the knees.
Black Powder uses 6 initiative. You have to recast it every 4 seconds to keep enemies in the TINY bubble blind.
Infusion of shadow only gives you 2 initiative back from stealth. Using heartseeker to get into stealth costs you 3 initiative.
You lose 7 initiative every time you pull off this combo with Infusion of shadow.
You can’t keep Black Powder up indefinitely using the tactics he described or even keep it up past 8-12 seconds. In short the original poster is lying, posting misinformation or is uninformed.
True.
Because that is way overcomplicating it. All you do is press 5, autoattack for 4 seconds (sometimes enemies have really slow attacks and give a couple secs extra), press 5 again and repeat. Any mob should be dead long before you run out of initiative.
8v8 was great fun, but Anet decided that eSports was supposed to be 5v5 and proceeded to make PvP suck. I had hoped that the new HoT mode would bring back 8v8.
Your “Guild vs Guild” change put way too many limitations on WvW. Its going to be complicated and unfun. This is a game, not a job.
That said, server vs server is outdated. What I would like to see is “factions”, ie Anet created mega-guilds instead of servers. Pretty much the same setup as now, but with ingame Anet guilds that players/player guilds are part of. Just like you choose a server, you choose a faction. If we can get a little more open-ness about them ingame (like, how many members and which guilds are in a faction), players can start to balance wvw themselves. Cheapen the costs to move between factions, make it more fluid and changing.
Right now, we’re putting all our trust in Anet to balance things because if you think about it, we cant even see the true population of a server. And they arent really doing it.
Did it a while ago too because of the kittenty new WvW population limitations that still hasnt been lifted. Instead of bothering to queue for hours with no point (the guild had GvG later anyway) we brought the raid into EoTM instead, about 20-25 man or so.
Rolled everything, lol. 50 man enemy blobs? Half of them where down in the first 5 seconds of the fight. Those suped up tower lords that can wipe 30 man pug zergs? They died in 10 seconds.
So yes, its what guilds do who cant WvW because Anet cant fix their game.
Well, either that or they just wanted to have a laugh.
The later is more likely and totally understandable.
The correct answer here would be condemning the communities lashing out at him. Making a conscience effort to defend or justify attacking him as some did, is embarrassing and appalling.
Being correct is not in the nature of a bitter and somewhat rabid fanbase.
And shouldn’t those WvW forum specialists be people who are in WvW-only guilds?
That would be a rather silly limitation, dont you think?
Like saying to the dungeon specialist “nope you cant play WvW ever, you must be in a PvE only guild!”.
Insta-ban if the WvW specialist goes into PvE or what?
You are right about the tiers though. Any person would be totally biased against his/her server in the tier they are in… Not to mention if its EU or US. Unless the specialist happen to have 20 accounts or something.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
As I stated above -
If the “guild-only” group is currently taking an objective, whether it be camp, tower, keep, or castle – they have absolutely no right to ask you to leave them alone until they capture or leave the objective.
If you happen to run into them again taking another objective, same thing. It is not within reason whatsoever to demand someone leave while at an attackable/defendable objective.
Of course they have a right to ask you to leave them.
Whether you listen to them or dont give a kitten about what they say is a whole other matter.
Are people really surprised that he might have given up after the childish behavior shown here after the announcement?
Considering that not every single person ripped on him and that some of us actually did have faith that he could do a good job, yes.
Unfortunately, quite a few people did chew his kitten out just for making an announcement thread, and that type of action can speak quite loudly.
After so long time spent neglected, the poisonous response from the community was… predictable. Anyone would have gotten hell for it. I really dont understand why Anet themselves didnt introduce them.
If you want even more versatile, always go with zerker+traveler for armor. You are already using various different trinket/weapon pieces, its better to “balance” the stats there. You can then use the traveler armor for a full zerker setup or zerker+whatever in the future. Especially important if you want to upgrade to ascended later
You dont even need celestial armor. I do not share the opinion of the above post… The necro is the best full zerker to bring to a zerg (there is a reason its meta). If you die on a zerker necro, you’d probably die on any other gear. Its all about positioning. Pack runes are good if you want to vary your build as you wont really need the +50% crit in ds (you can go 0 in the last tree if you want).
I fail to see the issue. If people want to spend 3 hours logging into accounts everyday, sure, let them. Money for Anet, more stuff on the AH.
Having 20 gold, 200 gold or 2000 gold is irrelevant in GW2. I would like to have 10 legendaries just as much as the next player, but its 99% cosmetics (the other 1% being the actual boost in stats that ascended gives).
Since they introduced colors:
Blue tag – pug raid, join as whatever
Yellow tag – guild raid
Red tag -scouts/focus party
Purple tag – that color no one want to use.
