I don’t think Anet will ever be able to make future Elite Specialization not a Potion junkie.

Alchemy tree is great for both long range and melee range combat for both defensive and offensive combat.

Consitantly chugging down Elixir B in combat is a basic thing for me now for those extra 14 second retaliation, Fury, and Swiftness with that 24 seconds of 3 stacks of Might.

Condi question for Hot/Scrapper

in Engineer

EdwinLi.1284

Berserker’s and Knight’s seem to fit Scrappers a lot more than Sinister’s. Scrappers do not offer condi builds a lot.

Sinister can still work for Scrapper tree if players decided to go Range combat with Pistol and Rifles.

Scrapper tree is defensive focused so using it as a defensive tree helps a engineer for both long range and melee range.

Recovery matrix helps for always having protection buff when usings a healing skill.

Rapid Regeneration and Mass Momentum both helps for either having more healing or gaining more might stack.

Adaptive Armor is helpful since it is a trait that reduce condition damage by 20%. Long range combat Engi’s can use this to survive any bombardment of condition damage in both PvE and PvP

All I can say is Engi’s Burn from P/P is OP compared to a Thief that does P/P.

Slap on a Burn from your Engi’s P/P and bombard them with the other conditions and you’ll burn down a person’s HP faster than a Thief P/P if you used the right build.

Hypothesis about Saul and Exalted

in Lore

Posted by: EdwinLi.1284

EdwinLi.1284

From the Prophecies Manuscripts regarding Saul meeting these mysterious beings for the first time. Heavily implies these are in fact Mursaat who have found a pawn for themselves. And what reason would the Exalted have to pose as gods anyway? They were former humans retaining their personalities and memories, surely they could have reasoned or sympathized with the man instead of letting him make up some crazy beliefs.

Meanwhile the Mursaat have a clear motive for tricking Saul from the very start, and a long-term plan laid out. Having all that be just some stroke of luck for them caused by Saul somehow managing to mistake them for the Exalted sounds really silly.

From a storytelling perspective, retconning the first contact with the Mursaat as being Exalted would be a very lame way to jam them into the existing lore. Not that ANet doesn’t have a bit of a history of doing this but still…

Do not forget the saying of the Priory….

“History never lies. Historians however…”

What we know of Saul D’Alessio is based on what Krytan historian have writing about him. No one really knows what really happened when Saul first met the “Unseen ones” he spoke about but could only interpret what happened from what he had told them.

Along with that Saul was also not in his right mind fully when he found them as stated in the lore due to lack of food and water so his interpretation may have been impared by his current state of mind during that time.

The Exalted lore!

EdwinLi.1284

If daily activity causes them to lose the magical energy that keeps them alive, then they are mortal. If they are required to be in stasis in order to live longer, then they are not effectively immortal.

Losing energy due to daily activity is the same as aging. Aging implies mortality.

Poor joe, he died from taking one to many trips to the store to buy beer. He should have remained in stasis.

You are confusing and twisting what I am saying.

I never said daily activities will drain them of magical energy. I only said they can die if they don’t maintain their magical energy in their bodies.

Most likely the only way the Exalted to lose magical energy is if they used too much Magic or something else drains them of their magical energy.

As long the Exalted don’t use too much Magic to spend Magical Energy they can remain Immortal.

Hibernation is most likely a means for them to pass the time so they do not have to find any reason to spend their magical energy on using magic since there was no need for the Exalted to use their Magic unless it is for the time when the Elder Dragon awaken.

Best example I can describe the Exalted body is that their body are Containers full of magical energy. As long nothing requires them to use their own Magical Energy they still remain a Container full of magical energy.

So as long the Exalted do not use their own Magic they do not drain their own Magical energy. Even if they use their own magic, like other life forms the magical energy will eventually return to them if they keep a steady amount spent. However, using too much at once would cause magical energy to be spent faster than before that magical energy they lost can be replaced.

Keep in mind that if they can use up their own life force, then they are not effectively immortal.

As the lore mentioned they are only Immortal by being unable to age, die of age, nor die from lack of food and water.

Exalted can still die by fatal wounds or losing all their magical energy that is used to maintain their body.

Their immortal stats is only given by maintaining their magical energy in their body to maintain their forms. Without that magical energy they will die so hibernation may be one way to maintain their magical energy.

Keep in mind the Exalted body is pure magic so maybe if they use Magic they will be spending their own life force to use that magic.

As a being of pure magical energy that uses magical energy to perform their strong magical abilities it is most likely the risk of spending too much magical energy may result in the Exalted to die from loss of magical energy.

The hypothesis I made about Saul mistaken the Mursaat as the Exalted comes from Saul’s lore.

After he was exiled from Kryta he wandered into the Maguuma Jungle for days eventually finding a grand city in the thick forest itself. Exploring the place he meet Winged beings that spoke left melodius sounds.

Saul attempted to find this city again after he formed the White Mantle but never found it this City.

of course as Saul’s lore mentioned he was slightly out of his mind during that time due to constantly wandering the forests surviving on little amount of food and water and didn’t know if what he was seeing was a illusion or reality.

Hypothesis about Saul and Exalted

in Lore

Posted by: EdwinLi.1284

EdwinLi.1284

So as the title said I have this hypothesis about the Exalted, Saul, and Mursaat. It is more about the lore of GW so I’m putting it here….

What if Saul D’Alessio didn’t meet the Mursaat and found a Mursaat City but instead he found the City of Tarir and found the Exalted.

After discovering the Exalted and Tarir, Saul went back to Kryta and told his story about this great city in the Maguuma Jungle with buildings towering into the sky and the Mystical Beings he saw there calling them the Unseen Ones. However, when he returned to the Maguuma Jungle he could not find the city nor the Exalted but instead he meet the Mursaat. This is when Saul actually met the Mursaat for the first time but due to the Mursaat’s Golden appearance and powerful magic abilities similar to the Exalted he mistaken the Mursaat as the Exalted thus passing the name Unseen Ones to the Mursaat instead.

Not only this hypothesis but what if the real reason why Saul was taken alive was not because it would ruin the newly founded White Mantle but Saul D’Alessio was taken because he found the Exalted and their Golden City Tarir. Thus keeping Saul alive so they can extract the information out of Saul while reaping the benefits of how the White Mantle believes the Mursaat were the Exalted Saul meet in the Maguuma Jungle. The reason for this is because the Mursaat were fighting Glint’s Flameseeker Prophecies and the Exalted are Glint’s servants along with the fact they needed sacrifices to power the bloodstone which they used the White Mantle for that part.

(I know just a crazy hypothesis but the lore of GW about Saul, Mursaat, and Exalted just got me to think about this. )

Well i have a hypothesis and this may allow us to figure out what happened to Saul D’Alessio.

Maybe Saul found this city of Tarir and mistakened the Exalted as the Mursaat. He went back to kryta tell the story of the golden city of Tarir and the Exalted. After that returned to the Maguuma and as the lore stated he was unable to find the city again but he did find the Mursaat. However, since both the Exalted had strong magical powers and both can fly Saul may have mistaken the Mursaat to be the Exalted believing the Mursaat were another form of Exalted.

Using Saul’s misunderstanding the Mursaat pretended to be the Exalted. This may also explain why Saul may have been taken away since Saul knows the location of the Exalted which serves Glint and the Mursaat were after all fighting against Glint’s flameseeker prophecies.

If I had to guess the Forgotten may not have been discovered or mentioned because the Humans they chosen to become Exalted never returned to Human society so knowledge of the Forgotten never reached the outside world.

Of course those that did not pass the trial most likely died during the trials and a dead person can tell no tales after all.

On that note this may allow us to figure out what happened to Saul D’Alessio.

Maybe Saul found this city of Tarir and mistakened the Exalted as the Mursaat then went back to Kryta. After that returned to the Maguuma and as the lore stated he was unable to find the city again but he did find the Mursaat which he may have mistaken to be the Exalted.

Weapon Skill Swap instead?

I have also toyed with the idea of getting a form, but I think our class already has a glut of mechanics that swap out our skills. It would be nice to get something shiny that does not do this.

Well if they plan to make a weapon skill swap focused Elite Spec for Engi Anet might as well go all the way and introduce a unique Death Shroud for Engi that has the skills affected by what weapon the Engi has equipped.

That way they can keep the theme of being a Weapon Skill Swap Elite Spec.

Weapon Skill Swap instead?

EdwinLi.1284

This is almost exactly what I wanted them to do.

Seemed like a pretty obvious place to take the class and a logical thing to give to people troubled by the—well advertised—reliance on kits.

That said, this would still be a little short of flavor.

Ya I know but I only started on the basic of what this Elite Spec may use. I didn’t think too far into this Elite Spec to start expecting any type of unique flavor quite yet.

I edited my second post to include the idea of a Engi’s own Reaper Shoud for this Elite Spec but instead of Unique skills for the Engi’s RS this Engi’s RS will change the Weapon skills instead to a type of Overcharge version of the Weapon skills or unique Overcharge skills for each Engi Weapon.

(I was thinking of calling it Overcharge Form or Mode but meh the naming can go to Anet’s job if they ever plan to add something like this)

….so basically attunements on acid? I like it

meh… either way it may work but the effort to create 5 new set of skills for each Engi’s weapons and the new Elite Spec Weapon, new utility skills to take the Kits skills place when this Elite Spec is equiped, and new set of skills for this new elite spec may require more work than current Elite Specializations while still making sure the weapons are registering as Kits with the Elite Spec equipped.

Not to mention if the Weapon Skill Swap system will be the only thing added as well or not since the Elite Spec only gives 1 set of new skills per weapon their may be another mechanic to add additional weapon skills such as if this Elite spec gets its own form of Reaper Shoud but instead of having unique skills to this “RS” form this “Engi RS” transforms the weapon skills into a type of Overcharge versions of the Weapon skills instead with some slight animation change to the skill showing it is the Overcharge version of the skill.

Or something simpler like giving each weapon their own Overcharge Skills for the Overcharge Form.

(lightning animation effect around the body with lightning glowing eyes may or may not be included. )

Also current elite specs have taken things from other professions and incorporated into another profession but with its own unique twist, being Druid’s Celestial form as a healer focused Reaper Shroud along with Utility Skill types like the wells for chronomancer and Shouts for Ele and Necro. If that is anything to say we may see future elite specializations performing such things as well with other profession’s mechanics that wouldn’t require much or no change to their standard mechanic such as Engi’s toolbelt skill and Warrior’s Rage bar.

What gear do I need the most?

EdwinLi.1284

Keep in mind Zerkers can only get you far if you are very skilled at reducing the damage you take. If you’re not skilled enough then I suggest mixing some Vitality into your gear for additional survivability.

Other players have surggested Rabid to other players if your going condition damage build.

Scrapper doesn’t change the old builds but open up new builds. However, Scrapper’s Hammer melee nature does require some defense to go with your offense due to being in melee range most of the time thus you’ll take a lot of hits even with damage reducing stuff so taking some Vitality and Toughness helps for Scrapper.

There are pros and cons to both Berserker and Sinister, but if you’re looking for the top damage those are the two best options.

Beyond the first boss we don’t really know what you’ll want for the raid. What we do know of the Vale Guardian is it needs some condi damage, so Sinister Engis are desired as they are the best condi damage build right now. A tank is helpful for Vale Guardian just to keep him locked onto someone, and a Rabid Engi does that pretty well without really sacrificing much damage.

Being the first and easiest boss I wouldn’t be surprised if your Sinister/Berserker gear gets you killed in later raid wings, but for now those cover pretty much everything PvE.

You can change stats if you really have a change of heart later. I would just go with ascended gear for whichever your play style fits best with.

Didn’t Anet mentioned some where that the bosses beyond the Gate Guardian may require some Vitality and Toughness to survive even for DPS focus players? From what they said going full DPS gear in later parts of the raid may be considered suicide.

Weapon Skill Swap instead?

in Engineer

Posted by: EdwinLi.1284

EdwinLi.1284

Well to late to change anything about current Elite Spec but all these talk got me think that maybe Engi may want to have a Weapon Skill Swap Elite Specialization next. However, in exchange for this Engi’s Elite Spec giving all weapons a extra set of skills…

Rifle get 5 new set of skills making it now have 10 skills

Pistol get 5 new set of skills making it have 10 skills ( 6 main hand and 4 off-hand).

Shield get 2 new skills making it have 4 skills

and new Elite Spec Weapon with its own set of weapon skills

along with the Elite Spec new set of skills as well.

…. Kits are changed into normal Utility skills that reflect their former Kit function.

What will happen to the kit traits? Well this is the 2nd part of this Elite Spec mechanic being that the weapons Engi can use are now considered Kits while the Traits that affect only specific Kits will still affect the skills the Kits are turned into or adjusted to affect the weapon you wield.

1) Instead of Swapping Weapons, this Elite Specialization will swap the weapon skills.

2) Each Weapon Engineer can use, Pistol, Shield, Rifle, and Elite Spec Weapon, now have 2 sets of skills with one set being melee range combat and 2nd set as long range combat.
For example..

Rifle 2nd set of skill, when you swap the weapon skill, focus on melee range shots with the Auto attack being a cone shape short range AoE attack with this auto attack being considered as a Melee attack so it can’t be reflected. Turning the Rifle into a Shotgun type weapon.

3) Kits are changed into new skills that reflect the kit’s former function. Such as Grenade Kit becomes a simple Grenade Utility skill that allows this Engi Elite Spec to through 9 grenades, 3 Shrapnel, 3 freeze, and 3 Poison Grenades.

Flamethrower kit becomes a Utility skill that does a ground target AoE field skill that creates a Napalm AoE circle field that damages and cause burn condition every 1 second to all enemies in the area.

Elixir Kit becomes Experimental Super Elixir which leaves a field larger sized Super Elixir field but with a stronger pulse heal and a addition effect of providing 3 second of Protection each pulse.

I tried replacing Grenade Kit with a Gyro but it felt like an empty utility slot.

If you’re tyring to get the most out of gyros then it is best to use Gyros for their toolbelt skills instead of the gyros in general. Their AoE field toolbelt skills works very well with Scrapper’s melee nature and can open up a lot of combo field happy combat.

Since I focus mostly as a melee for Scrapper I mostly only use Mortar Kit for my long range and extra combo fields. The Shredder Gyro is so far the most favored Gyro for certain amount of players due to how much Whirl finisher it can dish out in a short amount of time with combo fields.

The hammer also has problems. Like the block only blocking attacks directly in front of you, unlike gear shield.

It was explained in the demenstration of Scrapper skills.

4th Hammer skill only block front attacks is mostly due to the skill being a offensive/defensive ability compared to the Shield which is more defensive. It not only blocks attacks in front but any enemy near you in the front will take damage.

Gyros: They feel like they’re not meant to live for long. that is even more supported by the fact when you self-destruct them they can already Daze anyone they hit. The Trait in the Scrapper tree just adds a Lightning field to the mizx which is good since the moment you summon a gyro you can blow them back up to daze any enemy near you.

I mostly keep gyro for their toolbet skills because their toolbelt skills are just murder in PvE.

Currently HoT mobs in beta hit hard towards players that lack proper amount of toughness and/or Vitality.

With some abilities designed to be unavoidable players will need to rethink what stats they put into their gears for HoT area.

My best guess is that HoT mobs are being adjusted and designed around slaughtering any player that would go full DPS or any type of build that would ignore Toughness and Vitality.

My worst is that Toughness may be adjusted to be far more useful like how they plan to adjust Healing Power for HoT.

If you ask Anet mention something about Healing Power affecting condition damage or something.

I’m questioning if these people who want Trehearne to die even know what it may lead to.

The only reason why the Player character have their freedom to adventure the world of GW is because Trehearne does all the not so important Jobs as the Pact Leader which I already listed in my first post.

Unless they already have a new character ready to replace Trehearne as the Pact Leader I doubt he will ever die. Maybe become less important, making only small appearances here and there when the Pact is involved, as the story become more focused on Destiny Edge and Destiny Edge 2.0 but that about it for my expectations.

Player character can’t become the Pact Leader due to being a member of one of the three Orders not to mention the Lore reason why the Player character can be adventuring, PvPing, and WvWing is because all the time consuming task goes to the Pact Leader which is Trehearne.

A Member of Destiny Edge and Destiny Edge 2.0 are too whiny for my taste to be a Pact Leader. I still haven’t forgotten how Destiny Edge constantly argued like children in the Dungeon Storyline. They also have their own personal issues in their Nations which they often do get involved with. Destiny Edge 2.0 are not as experienced as Destiny Edge and current they’re always being lead to important places by this “E” person, or persons.

As for another character taking Trehearne’s place well you know what they say “be careful what you wish for” because Anet may just put a NPC with a far more hateable personailty as the new Pact Leader.

We still do not know much of Mursaat culture and life styles to really judge how they live. For all we know they may have obtained their current bodies due to having their powerful magic.

As for Saul being taken from what it appeared he was taken due to him realising that the Mursaat were not the so called Gods he believed them to be.

If Saul was allowed to stay he would have turned the White Mantle against the Mursaat by revealing the truth about what they had done.

However, for encountering the Mursaat again in GW2 and Saul as well we will just have to wait. We never did find that great Mursaat city with buildings towering into the heavens in the Maguuma Jungle mentioned by Saul and tell this day no one has found it in GW lore.

If my suspecions are correct then this Golden City with great building towering into the heavens just may be this Mursaat City Saul found in the Maguuma Jungle.

Mordremoth: "I am this world."

Mordremoth had been a big mystery – until now. Though we learned that Aerin preached about the world’s destruction… curious line now that we have Mordremoth’s saying “I am this world.” But if I had to guess at Mordremoth’s psyche based off of this, I’d argue that he seeks to become the sole source of life.

I think the saying “I am this world” refers to how the world is full of Nature no matter where you go. Plants are a important part of the world that allows for the existance of life. Even in deserts there still places that sustain plant life which allow life to exist in the desert and with Mordy being a Nature dragon he may see himself as part of the Nature itself thus referring himself as part of what sustains life in the world of GW.

This would fit into what Mordy believes himself to be since the one thing that will always rule the world even after civilizations have fallen is Nature itself.

As the saying goes “Nature will always win in the end.”

You will have to keep in mind all Elder Dragons have a God complex. While they don’t really say it out loud each Elder Dragon wish to take over the world and turn it into their ideal image such as Mordremoth seeking a world full of Nature and how Zhaitan seeked to create a world where nothing but death exists.

However, none of them were able to create their ideal world because they had a stalemate which forced them to exhaust all their energy fighting each other at the end of each cycle but of course the Pact has destroyed that stalemate.

Only question remains now is when will the Elder Dragons get off their butts and start their war with each other again which the Pact would not be prepared for since it is a organization made to only fight one Elder Dragon at a time.

There will always be A META.

Meta will always exist but what the Meta is changes based on new additions to the profession.

However, current Meta issue is that majority of the meta is mostly Zerker, Zerker, and Zerker with the mindset that Zerker is the only way to go if players want to get content done.

Hopefully HoT content starts leading to other builds outside of Zerker. Of course that may mean introducing mobs and fight that would punish players for going full Zerker and not having any Vit and Toughness in their gear set.

Druid provides oppotunity to create a proper DPS/healing build. While player may sacrifice some DPS it doesn’t mean they have to sacrifice all their DPS. There are plenty of stat combinations out there to keep a decent amount of DPS.

For example, aEle player can switch between their Water Attunement for healing while switching back to their other Attunement for their DPS.

Healer does exist in GW2, it is just few bother to use the Healer builds or just never bothered noticing the existance of healer builds.

A lot of focus was towards Zerker build by the Meta nut people so few people are aware that players can be healers in GW2 with the right build. Ele current is known to be a good healer profession thanks to their water attunement abilities used with the right gear set up.

Majority of the community current focus a lot on making DPS builds but there are Tank and Healer builds out there for players who wich to become a Tank user or Healer user.

A simple game of making fun of the Launch Trailer by defining it in some funny way. Something to lighten the mood instead of complaining.

I’ll start for the heck of it….

“Move over Kormir because Rytlock will not only steal the glory but also all the kills while he complains how the player character is useless because he or she keep ending up dead by the enemy mobs”

“Abaddon meet your green cousin Mordremoth.”

4.5K heal when activated sounds like a decent adjustment but was the amount medic Gyro heals over time also increased as well?

Also, a lot of us feel that the Scrapper is missing the ability to lower Gyro Cooldown from the Trait lines.
