Great timing, you move through the weapon sets to astral form and into stealth so smoothly.

Some of the best ranger gameplay I’ve seen, period.

-The fight vs the engineer was annoying. People who fully reset fights over and over (and that looks what that little bastij was tryin to do) is so frustrating. Getting someone to 10 percent and then they block, go stealth….. ughhhh, glad you finished him. (that warrior though…)

I personally feel that you are showing disrespect to the pvp focussed areas of the game and show a strong preferential treatment towards the PVE areas of the game.

While all classes have bugs that have never been fixed, (mainly effecting the pvp crowd) pve content is fixed quickly.

While loads of pve content is created, very little in the way of PvP has been implemented.
The changes you implemented in WvW were highly criticized and for good reason.

The most competitive and dominant PvP team has all but abandoned the game. No word from you? No one trying to get more sponsors to foot the bill for the events?

Everytime you balance the game, it’s clear your devs don’t play the same game as the playerbase. It’s shock and awe with the amount of things that get broken with the atrocious coding of your staff.

ANET – Get on the ball. Make something happen. This game and the business it created is slipping through your fingers.

Was that polite enough for you?
Does this offend the sensibilities of your delicate player base?

I enjoyed it. A few times I would of enjoyed it more if it was normal speed.

I wish minion mancers didn’t exist. It’s difficult to even target the necro and it turns into a utter FusterCluck if there are two on the same point.

Zodin I can go on Youtube right now and copy and paste 10 videos of people running berserker GS M/S in PVP and WvW. Obino didn’t invent it, he didnt create the meta. Threads over. Obino jumped on the bandwagon and didn’t make it popular becasue it was already popular. Search youtube and the forum Everyone already running it before him. It’s not just me it is everyone else before Obino.

Do you realize that a ton of other people could of played the same build as you and you wouldn’t of known about it?

Drivers are all up to date
I turned off all video card programs (the afterburner, riva tuner etc)
I turned my video settings to medium for everything and turned off some of the options.
My fps are now in the range of 80-160+

After I did those things, no crash. So far, the problem hasn’t repeated.
But the last time it crashed, I had been playing a while….so well see.

If it happens again, I will definitely open up a ticket.

This is pretty similar to other builds out there. It has overall less burst potential but moment of clarity is no longer required for your tiger to land its burst. The big selling point of the orginal build was your pet critting 8k on top of you critting 7k. Now you will crit 3-4k with your pet critting 8k. Test it out and make your own assessment

You’re using Brutish seals to lower your signet cool downs and using the signets for you’re burst? Enlargement plays into that dmg increase as well, I suppose.

Still, it would seem Moc would still be a better choice.

But, then I realize sor and sos are pretty needed anyways….

The same things that work in pve won’t work in pvp.

And pvp isn’t solely about fighting. Map rotation and movement are needed, a/t Sbow will not give you either.

Watch some streamers, Rom is one the best druids in pvp.

Condi based druids are not ideal in the current meta.

I gave trap ranger in pvp plenty of time. I really want it to work….it can be so fun.

If traps were a weapon set this wouldn’t be a problem. They are not.

If the trap damage was power based and not condi based, it might help but again, it’s not.

The utilitys you lose to use traps is just unbearable.
God forbid the condi ranger gets condied himself!

With no utilities other than traps, how do you propose to remove the condis?

Oh sure, there are times when you can surprise a whole team, but its really not worth it.

I don’t care as much about class matchups and fights but more, when to help mid, when to go far, when not to go far etc etc.

Every few weeks threads come up asking to improve the horrible UI. Why the hell did they do this? What’s the purpose on such lacking customisation? I want side bars for food/gizmos/instruments/tonics etc. I want to resize the kitten elements, I want to toggle health bars, I want to target a player I can go for and take it in focus to heal it etc. But Anet won’t listen, they just are so stubborn to not let us change this and god knows why.

I remember why they originally wouldn’t allow 3rd party UI.

Something about, the player with the 3rd party UI had advantages over players who didn’t use it. There were many heated discussions on mmorpg.com

On one hand I like the simplicity.

I’ve been pretty consistently preferring to run WS for the extra condi clear, barkskin, and shared anguish. I think that comes out ahead of NM, you lose a bit of team support with allies’ aid and PW, but I think the selfish build works better since the druid is often or usually the main target. Also I’m running the slightly non-standard GoE, pet taunt, and wolf, so that more than makes up for allies’ aid. Made it to platinum with WS, thought I’d experiment with NM and dropped 10 matches to plummet down to gold 2.

WS it is for me… infuriating.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I would be interested in your builds (fluff/JC). Do you guys ever play solo que? and would you consider lb for solo que?

Some people just really have no ability to actually hear other people. To some people, the Ranger represents more than a pet class, and playing another class is a poor substitute. I really don’t see how this is such a hard concept to grasp.

There are signs when a ranger is bad

-using a lightning wyvern in a competitive match= bad.
-using sbow = usually bad.
-not using a low cd heal to help everyone get to their locations faster = bad.

It’s meta for rangers to use “we heal as one” and the trait resounding timbre (gives run speed)

Why don’t rangers use their heals at the beginning of a match? Personally, if Im on my ranger, i will use my low cd shouts that give run speed and my shout just to give a little more to my time.

It’s so appreciated when I am on my slower toons

I think in spvp it is such an unusual build that most people are taken by surprise and aren’t set up for a counter. If more people used it, i’m sure it would lose it’s effectiveness!

You can also try a wanderers build with skirmishing/wilderness survival/druid and shortbow + axe/dagger. Really fun to play with the bleeding chance on crit trait + sigils. High damage output, but not viable in higher levels of pvp.

Without a gs, a staff or a 1h sword, how do you ever escape?

That seems to be the issue with condi builds and rangers in general. They aren’t tanky enough to take dmg in melee range. Condi builds, even less so. That always lead me to believe you need an escape route.

And even though I said all that, I’d be interested in the wanderers build if you don’t mind dropping a link.

This has really described condi ranger since launch. It’s been a kitten build that has troll sustain, can’t kill anyone, yet can kill 7v1 at the same time.

I wonder what would be possible if the traps were Power Dmg instead of condi?

I loved playing condi traps and I insisted on it for a while. Vs certain classes, like what I felt was ‘try hard’ rangers at the time, they were easy wins. No druid can remove the amount of condi dmg that a trapper ranger can put out.

But it seems to me that while a trap ranger build has enough dmg to kill, it just doesn’t have the amount of tools it needs to be competitive with dare I use the word… The Meta.

Now, having said that, in a 1v1 I felt confident in killing almost every class at any time, in game.

But, when+1 comes in and I get focus fired, surviving that was hard, staying on or near point was impossible. In addition there aren’t many ranged options that work well.

dmn…now my brain is itching at the prospect of being able to make a condi trap druid work in spvp….

I wonder why its so hard for them to spread the classes out between the two teams.

So many games I’ve been in are loaded with one class, while the other team are loaded with others.

Example, tonight Im in a match, one team 3 engies, my team has 2 rangers and 2 eles.

Right now, just got the que, I’m on the team with 3 thieves. I mean really?

There’s no need to nerf guards into oblivion. Sure, they have a lot of blocks, some invulnerability, and a ton of area/node control. But that doesn’t mean we should knock them out of the meta.

Instead, just put a cast time on their traps. It doesn’t even have to be a long one. That way, through good timing and awareness, enemy players have a chance to interrupt their traps, which would be so important if it were possible due to the AoE daze and area control that these traps can inflict. This would also make guards take a little more skill to play by requiring knowledge about good moments for when to drop traps to avoid mishaps.

EDIT: I’d also like to point out that every single trap that both rangers and thieves have take 0.5 seconds to lay down. Guardian is the only profession where this isn’t the case for traps.

Don’t drag rangers into this. IF ranger traps were power based, you could say something. All ranger trap dmg can be removed via a condi cleanse. -IE NO ONE CARES. The CD times of ranger traps, if I am not mistaken, are longer than guard traps.

Really, Engineers should be the class up for ‘balance’.

If you think its too good, then I really believe you haven’t played.

the biggest issue I’ve found, other than a fairly long cd, is the LOS. Any little bit of terrain gets in the way and wastes the skill.

Talking by my own experience: condi druid can work well in Spvp but you gotta know what you are doing, otherwise you are going to get destroyed.
In WvW it work really well, talking from roaming perspective, not zerging since i don’t do much of those. For roaming i’d drop the shortbow for sword and dagger, though.
Carrion equips may work, but are not optimal for sure.

From my own experience, Condi druid does not work well in spvp, although I really wish it did.

There are currently 5 top ranger ‘pvp’ builds on metabattle and none of them are condi based.

Now why is that?

Personally, I dont think the condi weapons are good for a ranger in a pvp setting. You have to be at a reasonably close distance to use any of them and thats where a ranger who can’t take much dmg will get melted.

Also, condi dmg, as we all know has to stick to a target to do dmg.

I will say this, the best part about the burn guard that I’ve found is when people go down, the other team likes to suicide via attempting rez in my burn fields.

Yes, I closed the browser but, when I played WoW and went on blizzard forums, closing the browser didnt mean anything. I never logged out, why would i have to log back in?

Im not claiming its a bug. Im saying, they need to make it work correctly in the first place.

Yeah I tried it, felt good. Felt like no one was really expecting it. I mean, its not like I’m playing diamond/legendary either.

Felt a bit softer. And I dont get the shield on rez which can be really helpful in certain fights.

i run condi lb.. its pretty good in wvw as it provides thief protection but its mostly just to cheese people.. basically run sinister armor/weapons and carrion trinkets/rings ect… use trapper runes and stack traps.. the traps do pretty solid damage.. ur autos arent great but they deal decent enough dmg.. where the build really shines tho is kiting.. if ya got 2 or 3 people tryin to kill ya (and you can outrun them) dropping traps makes them very unwilling to actually try and chase you down because the traps hurt like a motherkittener.. when im sitting back pew pewing from a distance ill stack 3 traps on top of me for when that thief decides im gonna explode.. he pops in and gets knocked around with condi.. has to bail out of his attack or he’ll melt in seconds which gives ya time to drop a healing spring (and stealth) and reset the fight to one where ya arent getting jumped.. ancient seeds (druid) and knockback/auto work well enough.. throw in a bristleback and ya actually have fairly solid damage output with ur rapid fire.. all in all i think its my favorite wvw ranger build.. not particularly good in spvp tho

In all fairness, it sounds like traps did most of the heavy lifting.

I wish those worked in pvp. Traps are so much fun.

Every 30 secs is pretty much at will. In every fight, on any point, that will be available to the engi. That’s too much.

We seem to be in an ok position in PvP. Not bad, not 100% ideal.

We were stronger, MUCH stronger in past seasons.

Personally I think the CC in game has gotten to be over the top.

Something tells me you won’t tell us if you’re still getting rekt after the advice.

They don’t have to be bad players to get killed by this build. Sometimes it is just a matter of not being familiar with this kind of playstyle and not expecting the burst. If it would be more common, players would lern how to counter it – and pretty much all meta builds should have the tools to deal with this build.

It doesn’t take much time to figure out how to counter this build. There is still plenty of projectile hate in current meta builds. Either through reflects or just blocks.

I realize GS is the other weapon, but that’s even more of a gamble to run in and try to melee it up.

Like you mentioned, all meta builds have the tools to deal with this.
Fight a team with an engi, guard and a warrior. Have fun w/that.

The ranger vs ranger fight and vs the warrior—-took forever in a build that is super glassy.

I can’t help but wonder how many times during that fight were you one mistake away from being dead.

The games where I’ve lost, there is nothing I could of done to turn it around.

I sent loads of messages sreens emails, about certain players , but i still get them in my team.
I know u all pros and u all think u can insult every one and every one should just kitten and take the insults.
I just want to say that bullies never gained anything vs me in real life and will never gain anything in the game by beeing like that.
I do my best even tho im not a pro player i reached legend all seasons soloing in the first 2-3 weeks, so i really dont tolerate insults or racist remarqs of any kind.

That is exactly what is happening to me. I am testing his build, which is pretty solid btw, but when facing meta builds the stability spam is too strong. If i don’t have my team to back me up i am pretty sure dead. And i don’t know if its only me but its harder to solo defend your home point in this build, ofc we must take in consideration that i only played it for a couple hours, so not that used to the build yet.

This build rewards you greatly for hitting at the right time but if you miss the windows – you’ll get punished. You’ll technically run out of cooldowns and that’s it.

This is how I felt about it as well.

I am going in solo ranked, no back up, I can light someone up, but after that, I get focussed and once that happens gg.
