uh, that’s nonsense.

No offense to you Joyride, but it’s not hard to catch up to a pwr ranger and melt them. I can hit all the npc’s and players I need to.

My mobility isn’t good. My healing for me and my teammates is great. I take most healing per game, most condis removed and most condi dmg done, often. I know it has weaknesses, but it’s a blast to play and highly underrated.

I’ve used it offensively to clear the way for my npc’s and I can definitely see how it would be incredible for defense.

Had a small guild pvp tourney last night. I did alright with my trap ranger.

Until I fought a medi guard in our guild. And while I blew everyone else up, he dominated me no matter what I tried. I couldn’t kite. My dmg from range is insignificant. When I got close, I took all his dmg, he took very little of mine.

Should I care? Or is medi guard really just a insane counter to a condi ranger.

I ran the build Infirit posted last night when we did a guild Dueling Tourney. It was the first time I ran it. I beat an ele, a mesmer and an engi. The taunt from the pet is HUGE, can’t stress it enough. With the movement capabilities of sword, going in and out of melee distance coupled with that taunt, worked really well.

It is really soft, but you can blow people up so fast with condis its ridiculous. Id like to try it with axe/dagger instead of the bow and change out to rune of the krait. I just didn’t know how to use the bow well enough and it felt very weak when I did use it. It didn’t put enough pressure on my targets.

When I faced our guilds medi guard, I got REKT. I don’t know how I would of beat him. I couldn’t kite him, I needed to be semi close to do dmg and he was smart enough not to chase.

He also had ways to port to me and pull me and he’s good. And you see how the build is, it’s not built for survivability.

Would you say that a medi guard is the builds counter?

Why every time i post in this forum you guys always say the same “learn to dodge” as if i don’t know that, i already commented this to other thread that my 1vs1 buddy is a mesmer and pre patch i can win against him depending on the build but after this patch i always lose so please tell me did my buddy become so pro and i become so bad just after the patch? just to add only mesmer class i’m having a hard time killing but guards 50/50.

It’s absolutely true that mesmers are stronger now than they were.
You beating your buddy before the patch, but not after, is not terribly surprising if he was always a mesmer.
Mesmers were operating under a disability before, and now they are not. A lotlotlot of the whining about mesmers right now is coming from people who were able to just farm mesmers before, but now actually have to try…and they don’t know how yet.

The reason for the constant “learn to dodge” you’re hearing is because most people right now complaining about mesmers don’t realize just how big a deal that is against mesmers…they aren’t used to it!

That doesn’t mean there aren’t issues with mesmers (or a lot of classes right now), and that you might just come up against some unbalanced mechanics, it just means most of the people we see come through here complaining just haven’t learned to adapt to dangerous mesmers yet.

In short, your friend might have been better than you this whole time, but because he was playing a mesmer, you didn’t know it until now.
Or, it really might be because his build is just overpowered (is he stunning you a lot? Lockdown builds are pretty oppressive right now).

Either way, rule number 1 to dealing with a mesmer is dodging the burst. If you dodge at the right moment, you’ve probably negated most of their damage, and they have to get their illusions back up before they can try again.
Rule number 2 is to cleave the illusions. Illusions die fast, and they can’t insta-shatter you without their illusions.

I already said this too in other thread that i already forget but dodging the shatter is not my problem but the cc they have now i break stun then they will just cc me again if not the stealth i always manage to burst a mesmer this patch but the thing is they can stealth or blink away until i burn all my skill cd and you know what will happen if your utilities are on cd you just die if you can’t kite a blink. I don’t have any problem with their dps but being not able to see your opponent with a burst like that it frustrate the hell out of me i can understand the thieves they don’t have the illusion or clones for distraction but mesmer has enough on their sleeves. cleaving yes but the constant stealth. And i already said that mesmer will be balance if Arenanet will just balance that stealth on mesmer and the cc because right now it’s crazy.

I have the opposite problem. Sometimes in the game I’ll play a staff ele and I’m dealing massive damage by shooting fireballs and summoning meteor showers to smite my enemies. I figured it would be pretty awesome to do that in real life so I went out and got a staff but guess what? The lousy staff doesn’t do any of the things I can do with it in game, it’s just a piece of wood that comes in handy for hiking.

I swear the developers have no sense of reality when designing this game, rangers should be 1 shotting people and eles should be taking hikes. I say we riot until they fix this.

I actually think that the range increase is what they do not want. You shouldn’t really be able to throw a torch, dagger or axe further than you can shoot your SB. Thematically.

Bonfire, Whirling Defense, Hunter’s Call, CoTW and Stalkers Strike all need radius/range increase as baseline.

Throwing projectiles I can see staying at 900. Unless LoYF added +300 to SB range.

Thematically? That’s the best you’ve got?

I agree with you EnderzShadow but the reason they nerfed mobility skills is probably just because they’re introducing the Slow condition and wanted to take the easy way out on making sure it couldn’t be abused for longer rush/leaps.

I really wish they didn’t do it either but they did, and it really sucks. Warrior feels slow as hell now… but tbh, so does everything else ;_;

Not happy with most of their changes for the classes.

I could rush to a target with no swiftness or movement speed and it was like bulls charge.

For once, One time I would like to see ANET be the first MMO company to admit they messed up and revert their changes.

This game has the most forgiving, imbalanced (in terms of risk vs reward especially) stealth system I’ve ever played, in most MMOs damage brings you out of stealth, you are severely limited in your ability to stealth in combat, your movement speed is slower in stealth, there are normally consumables that any class can use to detect stealthed players, you can’t stealth other players and so on, the “counterplay” to stealth in GW2 is a joke.

Slightly off topic, but the most forgiving was easily WoW. I could enter a fight, get dotted up, cloak of shadows, vanish and just run. I had stuns and ways to control my target.

In WoW, rarely did anyone know they were about to get attacked. In Gw2 it’s , “Hey look, it’s a thief— /thief stealths , hmm I wonder what is going to happen now?”

It was simpler in any other mmo I’ve ever played to get into stealth and just camp in stealth. There were no combo fields. Want stealth? Push the stealth button.

There was no 2 step combo fields, no abilities to miss…and there also wasn’t any ways to chain stealth. I could stealth in WoW and DAOC till the cows came home. But, once you started a fight, you had to finish it.

In shadowbane, in DAOC, in WoW, in Warhammer and in AION, damage would bring you out of stealth.

Not in any of those games could someone use a consumable to negate the class mechanic of stealth. What game are you talking about?

The last time I ran a trapper build was before the ‘every build is now kitten’d patch’
It was soft, really soft, the dmg could be alright but it didn’t have near the survivability that the regen build I ran.

I didn’t ask about a trapper build.

To be clear what that build was,

Sword Torch, Axe Dagger
Full Apothecary (Healing, Toughness, Condition)
Rune of the Undead
Koi cakes as food
1.4k health regen per second while healing with troll ungent

I have a version if you want to try that I’m currently using in WvW. I can’t take credit for it since I’ve been pilfering the builds posted and using bits and pieces with my trap armor set.

I only use this in WvW – mostly solo or a group of 3 – 5 players. My play style is to stay at range, use traps to catch stealth/thieves, and CC the runners. Target assist then go into rapid fire and send eagle to fly free.

It isn’t great but gives you an idea assuming the URL / editor works.

Realism can’t be a point here. What about moa transformations, clones, perma invisiblity on open ground at close range, great swords thrown like boomerangs piercing everything on their way and returning safely to their player, mist form, long bows fired manually at the rate of an mg, asfaso.

No, realism is not a valid point in discussions about combat skills in MMOs. (And even if it was: Just imagine spike trap as a bundle of spikes in your hand. You can either hide them in the ground to make a trap, or throw them directly at a foe, thus inflicting bleeding. Much more realistic than 50% of skills in this game).

The only valid points are: Is a skill fun? And: Is it balanced?

Well, i used to play condi trapper in PVP. It was my main class, i thought it was fun. Ok damage over time, very high mobility and therefore survivability. Was it OP? Hardly, or many more players would have played it.

This build is now unviable. Everything feels extremely slow, you have to stand on the feet of your opponent to cast the traps which makes you vulnerable and decreases your dpm. And the worst: You are totally blocked by differences in terrain levels. Whenever a foe is above or below you (which is most often the case: Niflhel mid, Foefire mid, Khylo mid, Temple, not to mention skyhammer, lol) you cant hit them at all. So the condi trapper has effectively been removed from pvp. For no reason.

In PvE, traps are ridiculous anyway, in WvW roaming, they might still be ok, because you can combine them with trapper runes, which is still quite strong, but in PvP: Nerfed into oblivion for absolutely no reason.

Anet is trying to make things high concept and they are the ones to decide how a skill is supposed to be used.

If they want traps to behave like traps, being something you prepare to be ready for combat, and not an instant aoe damage skill, they will change them to that.

He just wanted to bring a point, Anet is trying to make everything high concept and the throwable traps didn’t fit their theme. They are meant to prepare yourself for combat and throwing traps with piercing spikes coming from the ground is not logical in any way.
Just be glad they are not working like they did in gw1, guys.

How does it go? Something like, “Traps are not meant to be thrown.”

Hello. My topic is for a Hundred Blade. The reason for this is, I think, and from my experience a lot of other players from other forums and in game think similar, that HB have to be changed. How and why? Well, for ‘why’, the reason is simple, Warrior is a melee class which needs to move a lot and fight not stopping, so why should he CAST a MELEE spell while he CANNOT MOVE while doing it. I know, it deals a lot of damage, but, against a new players, it’s so annoying get overkilled so easily, and against advanced ones it’s practically useless. U know, even though it deals a lot of damage, when target dodges or whatever he do to evade it, and it’s really simple, it’s useless. Ofc, u can get Bull’s Rush + Frenzy, but that’s wasting two utility abilities just for a single kill, and can do that about every few minutes, not sooner. But even with it, it’s not 100% sure kill. And yes, a lot of ppl talking about “GS warrior is kitten”. I’m just so desperate, and I don’t wanna play anything else ‘cuz something “sux” or isn’t meta. And yeah, i don’t wanna play a ranged weapon on war, why? Bcuz, its not what is “strong” its the feel and enjoying too. Well, that was why. And for ‘how’, answer should be; make it mobile, so it’s much better PvP usage, and u can lower damage , so it’s be in balance. Make it like whirling GS while moving, or anyhow but make it that u can use it WHILE MOVING. Yeah, i mostly talking here for a PvP usage of it, and I think if this changes in this, better, way, it wouldn’t be a problem to PvE and WvW too, it actually will get better too for that type of playing too. I’m telling this ‘cuz i really thing it would make gs warrior a lot more playable, and more people will play warrior, and yes, I see much less warriors in pvp than other classes. Just try it, Arena Net, for a test, u can back it if it comes to be a disaster, and I’m 100% sure it won’t be. Don’t blame me for helping telling my own opinion which i share with a lot of people, just wanna help community and a game gets better.
P.S. With a latest biggest update, I spotted a mistake in spelling “Health” as “Heatlh” in Warrior’s Healing Signet passive description. Just wanna be of help. Have a nice day.

There was something wrong with the fact you could throw “traps” in the first place. They were just grenades at that point. These are now actual traps you have to set down and predict enemy position. Ground targeting should never have been a thing.

Who says there was something wrong with being able to throw traps?

You could trait for it.

When I go to sell something on Black Lion Trading, and I am putting in a custom price, I have noticed that if I click in the silvers Box, 2nd box over, it will lower the price of my gold box.

Same thing if I go to change the amount in the coppers box, it will lower the price of the silvers box.

Did that make sense?
Never had this problem before.

You can avoid the dmg of a 100b by just walking away from the warrior.

At least most of the warrior mechanics just ‘work’. We talk about buffs and nerfs but when I played a mesmer, that forum didn’t talk about damage coefficients as much as they just wanted the class to work right.

-Bean was the man.
-Nothing beat KoS RP’ing guilds that yelled the goofiest things (right before you got ganked)
-Aw yes, the game that WvW was built off of. The game 99 percent of GW2 playerbase has no idea about. I wish there were 2 more realms. I don’t want to kill asuras. I want to show my in game racism towards another realm….dirty tree hugging HIBS!

Any major buff to Hundred Blades would just draw more people from other forums to complain about Warrior and get it nerfed again, probably leaving us worse off than before.

I’ve played way too many mmo’s and I’ve seen that limited thinking time and again.
It goes something like, “Don’t complain or it might get buffed and then nerfed to insanity!”

But I’ve never seen it happen to that degree, ever.

I’ve witnessed first hand, classes getting buffed overnight to ridiculous and just stay ridiculous until everyone accepted it.

I’ve seen classes start underpowered/overpowered and remain. But, getting the huge buff and then subsequent nerf, no.

Last thing, someone earlier complained about a moving hundred blades.
Did you mean rapid fire?

Neither of them seem optimal, tbh. And that’s no disrespect to the players, but the build choices seem off to me.

Shinryuku:

In no way is Leg Specialist more valuable than the options available on the Strength, Defense or Tactics trees there. I personally go Defense for Armored Attack and Merciless Hammer, but it’s not the only route.

The sigils are messed up too. Putting air on hammer and not gs makes no sense, and their are far better choices than impact on the gs too. Energy, Fire, Fury, Cleansing (if you need more condi removal), etc. I also put Intelligence on my hammer personally, to ensure those big hits on a stun lock.

Cygnus:

My only gripe on this is, based on the numbers, 4 points into Strength instead of Arms makes way more sense. You don’t stack enough might using Forceful Greatsword to outweigh the dps of Slashing Power so, unless you really need the better cooldown for some reason that isn’t dps, it’s not the optimal route.

I think he’d get more mileage out of full zerk if he can handle it too, but to each his own. Hammer sigils are also weird to me… again, Intelligence would be a better choice than Impact since you only have 4s of stun or knockdown at +10% vs all your big hits (well, the first 3) landing a guaranteed crit. It’s no contest.

Again, that’s no disrespect to the players and I’m a proponent of people doing what they find works for them and is fun. But numbers-wise, I think they both have better options.

Based on your experience of both, changing Cygnus’ food for Lemongrass would give you practically the same condi resistance. No idea why you’d find it easier to get kited on his build either… that 1s immob every 5s from Leg Specialist isn’t that decisive, and Cygnus would have lower CD on the gs movement skills.

I’m glad you mentioned it. I’m not a seasoned warrior.

+ melandru instead of hoelbrak
-10% Incoming Condition Duration.png Condition Duration; -10% Incoming Stun Duration
(5): +100 Toughness.png Toughness
(6): -15% Incoming Condition Duration. -15% Incoming Stun Duration
+ leg specialist

Everyone said it sucked.
But I found a solid build

But, seriously I’d love to see something that works there.
Maybe it was just me…engineers are a pain in the kitten to play.

dude whats up with all the kiting??
i get so annoyed when i duel or run into a warrior who cant really counter and relies on kiting to survive. so whenever i encounter one of these guys in wvw and notice all the kiting, i become a sitting duck and try not to move as much as possible to just mock them. it gets even funnier when i watch these people running around all over the map thinking that im after them when im actually just standing still and waiting for them to approach me so i can counter the crap of them and then they do it all over again lol. at this point im no longer interested in the duel and more of just messing with them XD

either you are a good warrior and know how to dodge and counter your profession, or simply die trying because there is someone out there better than you. i love intense duels when both parties are at the edge of life and are going all out, waiting for someone to make the slightest mistake.

Cygnus Build vs Shinryuku

Much respect to Cygnus(critical hammer) and Shinryuku (Hamtastic)

I would like the communities perspective on these two builds.
They both are good but one feels definitely more user friendly for a newer warrior.

Here are the builds.

Shinryuku Hamtastic -GS(impact/doom) /Hammer(air/hydro)
Traits 4 (3+7) 0 4(2+9) 2(1) 4 (5+8)
Healing sig, Bal stance, Endure pain, Bulls Charge, Sig of Rage
Berserk all. Melandru Runes. Lemongrass

With this build, nothing slowed me down, conditions were not a problem. I never ran into a condi user that could reliably apply enough conditions to kill me. It was great for keeping pressure on targets.

Cygnus Y Critical Hammer
GS(Fire/Air) hammer (impact/perception)
Traits 0 4 6 0 4
Healing sig, bal stance, berserk stance, Dolyak sig, Sig of rage
Berserk armor/weapons

As much as I enjoyed Cygnus gameplay, this build felt lacking compared to the first.
It felt like it hit harder. I was much more reliant on my utilities for condi management. It also seemed like it was easier for people to kite me.

I’ve never heard of it before, but changing it to mace/sword and adding Missile Deflection would make for a hilarious anti ranged build that could be kited for days.

I watched the streamer Koroshi do this for a match in spvp. It was funny vs the rangers as they just didn’t learn their lesson and camped LB

?? I’m talking about solo and group combat. If you fight with a group, you don’t need the same stuff compare to when you fight alone.
