pretty sure legendaries have had this title for some time now.

Yup, just follow the projectile unicorns to their source.

No, Claw Island doesn’t count for 100% map completion. I believe it DOES count for Krytan Explorer, though.

Yeah, I fixed that in my post just before you posted after going back to read more of the wiki… ah well.

Have you done Claw Island as part of the personal story? The Wiki says it counts towards world completion… given that your toon is 20 days old, sounds like that might be a possibility.

Nm… in one part of the wiki it says it counts, and in another part it doesn’t. Sorry.

An alternative to traits or runes is the Sigil of Speed. It makes it pretty easy to keep a couple minutes of swiftness up all the time while doing your normal adventuring… and it’s still relatively cheap on the TP.

I’ve experienced game DRM systems since ~1982 (LensLok anyone?) and Steam is by far the most insidious and underhand. Steam is evil.

Other opinions are available…

Yup, EA’s Origin is so much worse it makes Steam look like an innocent puppy… it’s not, of course… but it’s not nearly so bad as Origin.

OT: I’d rather GW2 stay off Steam.

Looks pretty solid to me. Maybe post it in the Warrior section, along with your preferred modes (PvE, PvP, WvW) and any specific types of feedback you’re looking for…? a list of traits you’r running (and utility skills) would be very useful, too (to know if any are going to waste or might offer you something you didn’t think of). It also looks like you’re running a fair amount of zerk… but what isn’t zerk?

A link to your build in a build editor can also be helpful for getting feedback.

We know very little about humans, who have thousands of years of history. The Sylvari came into being yesterday on a historical scale. There is little history to delve.

Yeah, but just to play devil’s advocate for one moment: humans are boring.

So, let’s compromise and forget Sylvari and Humans, and turn to the true heroic race worthy of all our focus: Charr.

Coin-fed salvage-o-matic refund

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EphemeralWallaby.7643

EphemeralWallaby.7643

I’m still quite frustrated that I have so many Salvage-o-Matic’s wasted sitting around in my personal bank because they’re too valuable to just outright destroy. I, personally, think not refunding the gems for them is a mistake on ANet Support’s part as far as customer satisfaction goes.

Perhaps as an alternative they could add an in-game vendor that’d let you exchange them for 75 black-lion salvage kits…?

Even though 75 of the kits = 900 gems, and a copper-fed = 800 gems, I seriously doubt there’d be many people exploiting the vendor.

I mained a Guard for ~3 years. I love the concept and ascetic of abilities, and I thoroughly enjoyed the act of coming up with new builds… but, I never found a build I was satisfied/happy with for very long.

A few months ago I switched mains to Warrior. I’m having such a blast now. The higher natural health pool, and the more straight-forward class structure fits my playstyle really well. And despite being more straight forward, I find there’s a solid amount of build possibilities when you take into account the wide assortment of weapons available to use. The class makes me feel effective (in PvE).

(edit- so, that’s my opinion on the class I now main: the class works for me. )

Unlock world map with Gift of Exploration

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EphemeralWallaby.7643

EphemeralWallaby.7643

I like this idea, tbh. You get the two gifts, use one on a character to give them 100% exploration w/o the reward gifts, karma, xp, or map completion bonuses… I think it’s a fair trade-off. You still have the other one to craft a legendary, or repeat map completion on another toon.

But, what would you do about the hero challenges? I don’t think those should be lost…

Maybe instead the gift consumption just gives all waypoints, vistas, and POIs…? you still have to go do the hearts & hero challenges… allowing you to get the karma and map completion rewards. I think that’d be fair, too… so long as more gifts weren’t rewarded to the character who used the gift.

Other legendary collections require you to do things that are typically not done solo such as fractals and and champions.

This one does too. Whats your point? Can you guys just not post if you are just going to make useless replies like this or “git gud”?

I took Ayrilana’s point to be that this is nothing all that unique, thus not worth getting worked up on the forums over.

I could turn your comment back onto you and say, ‘could you not post if you’re going to make useless tantrums?’ You could have worded your OP to ask for advice and help/ideas to overcome your obstacle, and you might have gotten more helpful (to you) replies. Instead you ranted and aren’t happy with the responses you got. You reap what you sew.

What's the point of 1 shared inventory slot?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EphemeralWallaby.7643

EphemeralWallaby.7643

I originally only bought the single one because I wanted all my characters to utilize my home portal stone… cutting my traveling expenses in half.

That’s the only one I would have gotten, except…

… I had the bright idea that I could put my perma gathering tools into them and free up inventory space on all my characters. So, I bit the bullet and bought 3 more.

If I were like some people in the forums who claimed they had perma gathering tools on all their characters, then I wouldn’t have bought the additional 3. So, I’d still be at 1 (now 2 ’cause of the boost).

I do think they are very expensive for what you get… but because GW2 doesn’t charge a monthly subscription, I like to spend a little money each month on gems… to me it’s like I’m paying a voluntary subscription that gives me bonus stuff. This time the stuff was my shared inventory slots.

I’d just be happy if I’d stop hitting a wall of lag half the time when I’m there. It’s the only place in the game that does it to me, and I wish I knew why.

Otherwise, I rather like the open & industrial manufacturing ascetic/feel. True the openness doesn’t quite fit into the concept of super-duper fortifications. I’m willing to give that a pass only ‘cause I feel they could have no walls or buildings whatsoever, and no one sane is gunna wanna try and attack them. Tyria: where hitting a Charr isn’t legally defined as assault, but instead as suicide.

Should any skins be exclusive?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EphemeralWallaby.7643

EphemeralWallaby.7643

it’s really simple, a skin should never be behind a big paywall, RNG or extremely hard achievement, actual gear does.

I think your paywall idea is bad. Things that don’t have any impact on game performance are good to have behind a paywall… it’s the best use of microtransactions in a game that has microtransactions.

To put gear behind a paywall/microtransaction promotes Pay-to-Win. PtW is not desirable in any way from a player standpoint.

The rest of your point of RNG or achievments; I think both gear and skins can be behind RNG and achievements without being a detriment to the game. It feels really good to have something to show you succeeded at a challenge. It also feels really good to have an awesome stroke of luck.

No one is a villain in their own head, so the likelyhood of anyone on the forums matching the OP’s call-out and actually considering their point is minimal at best. Calmly confronting the original person aggravating you is likely to lead to a more constructive solution… even if that solution winds up being blocking that player.

Also, the OP is a rage post… and no one responds well to rage posts. They’re too aggressive, often offensive, and due to being emotional they lack solid reasoning… generally speaking.

I got a weap chest of Teq a few weeks ago… my first asc weap… and it fortuitously used the stats that one of my toons uses. This gave me the encouragement to shortly thereafter craft my second one because I had the mats saved up.

I looked at possibly crafting armor, but the stat differences from exotic don’t seem to be a good payoff for all the mats required to craft (to me), so at most I might make asc coat and pants…. but I’m still on the fence leaning towards nope.

I’ll likely craft one or two more asc weapons, assuming I don’t get another lucky Teq drop. I have alts always farming the mats required so I don’t have to buy them off the TP, and I’ve got a lot saved up.

It literally couldn’t be more clear that his behavior is ok. I guess there may be a language barrier or something make it more difficult, but the devs said it is ok, therefore it is ok.

No ZG, you are wrong in this. That is what was cleared up in that follow-up post that JaFW quoted.

Just because you are mechanically capable of doing something, doesn’t mean it’s not against ANet Policy to actually do it. That is the point: “pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay” is referring only to the mechanics of the game during active play, not the behavior of going AFK to exploit those mechanics.

Previously exclusive but later easy to obtain items? No. This creates resentment in the player base who already own the item.

Previously exclusive items that return and require effort to get? Yes. This allows the items to have value to old and new owners alike. This is a compromise that is inclusive to all parties.

As much as players might want them to be, weapon/armor skins aren’t stocks.

While you’re rereading Insider Trading, I strongly urge you look up the term Libel.

~EW

Yeah…see, thats where things get to the point of ‘it just doesn’t matter’. Because it is a game, or form of entertainment, the same ethics and laws that govern a real world economy don’t apply. Thats what you are saying. And most likely, John, nor Anet, will do anything about this. So, it obligation or question of economic “fairness” resides with the community.

I’m saying that since real money is being used in THIS economy, it does matter. It matters alot. Since your basic player is being manipulated by a corporate entity.

Take it as you will.

No, I’m not saying it doesn’t matter. I’m saying that because of the parallel you’re seeing you’re making an accusation of a very serious crime that is inapplicable in this situation. This situation has nothing to do with RL stocks and securities.

At the very least your post violates the forums Code of Conduct… but it could stretch into Libel. I don’t think you fully understand the implications of your choice of words.
