I wasn’t even aware that people farmed anything other than CoF p1. If you’re looking to maintain some semblance of sanity and personhood, then by all means, continue farming events in Orr. If you’re looking for the fastest way to amass the items you need for a legendary, however, it’s time to to empty your head of all thoughts and join the crowd of zombies farming gold from CoF p1.
I have been doing CoF path one, and it isn’t really that much money for me. Unless I use the skill points I get from it as well to increase my profits, I don’t really go anywhere with it. The money gets hit by DR to the point where getting 6s per run isn’t that efficient.
No idea if it stacks with itself as I don’t believe that is currently testable. Karmic Infusion is a utility infusion and currently only amulets have those slots.
Karmic infusion does stack with all other currently working karma buffs such as banners, guild boosts, ice cream and the karma booster. It does not work with the Outmanned buff. With the infusion, karma gains can be increased by 95% assuming you have all the buffs.
It’s not that it doesn’t work with the outmanned, it’s that outmanned doesn’t work. Additionally, someone has reported that outmanned gives 15% karma (unconfirmed) which would put the karma gain up to 110%, assuming you had all the other things stacked with it.
LASTLY, I doubt any guild is capable of giving out 95% karma as it requires a 10% banner, so unless they buy a banner with commendations, they’ll have to learn it via commendations/a ton of influence.
here is some maths that someone did proving nightmare runes are actually better then undead runes!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AkXSlFKEkur9dDMtQ3NqUldMMWZiM0lRSHNSc05DckE&usp=sharing
I’m going with those:)
Yeah, I just double checked. The 5% Condition Damage you get from the 6th slot rune is ~110-150. The 6th slot if you use nightmare would just be a rune of the undead for another 28. Also, as a Mesmer, you can make the confusion stack to ~3.6 seconds instead of 3.3, so… yarrrrrrrrrrr.
I am ok with the rooting of the ability if it was worth it.
I know if a giant purple sword came bursting out of the ground underneath my feet and stabbed me in the butt I would probably fall over for say… 2 secs? OR that sword may just cut me in two and it would over… just sayin.
One pixel effect, instadown. lololol
Sorry, no fun for you. You step through that portal, and you’ll see.
There awaits, buried deep beneath ashes of solo gank, only portalbot duty, 24/7 mesmer taxi for any lazy hurr-hurr-me-worrier-me-melee-train out there with no med insurance and I’m not even talking about money.
Time will pass and those guys will forget about walking at all, so you’ll have to carry their overgrown kittens on your little clothie back.
Join mist wars today!
Sounds like me in dungeon runs… I like soloing bosses just as much as the next guy… which is why I just run Valk gear instead of Bers. Grabbing a Rabid set as well so I can just staff 24/7.
I feel like you’d get more damage with orbs (ruby or valk).
I don’t mind the flame blast, but why does it have to give the stealth cooldown (the hit occurs before stealth ends).
Had a chance to test it out a little more tonight, Protection just isnt procing at all for me.
Blind seems a bit strange, it maybe working. I tested with and without the trait Blinding Befuddlement and confusion stacks seemed higher with the trait than without but I cant be sure due to the fact the fights are random in the mists.
Why don’t you use the Chilling Darkness trait? It chills on blind so should quite easy to see.
We’re mesmers…
Well for the stealth skills channeled spells that were cast before you stealth finish their channel on you. What I wonder is can the ranger see these arrow, I know you can. But say I channel a scepter 3 on a rogue who goes stealth, the beam vanishes, but I know the channel finishes. I don’t know if he sees the beam or not though while it’s finishing.
I don’t think he does, but he takes the damage. It’s fair, though, because if the beam were still visible, you’d see exactly where s/he is.
Well what I’m more wondering is if a ranger channeling on me when I go stealth can see the arrows still for exactly that reason? I know I can see them still, so if he can then he still knows right where I am.
That’s interesting, I don’t know, then.
AT is good in PvE when you know there are boons to steal (Jellyfish fractal).
That’s… about as far as its usefulness goes.

The Sword2 skill gives invulnerability, so… they can’t get interrupted, no.
I can see that being useful out of combat, but in Combat that would actually kitten some Mantra builds.
I also have no voice, apparently. My friend will be like “IF YOUR CHARACTER SAYS THAT ONE MORE TIME, I’LL DO IT, I’LL HIT YOUR CHARACTER.”
Me: “What?”
Friend: " ‘Go ahead, hit me!’ "
Me: “Oh…” T_T
YOU GOT THE SONG WRONG, IT’S ALE.
“I love ale!
Ale makes me happy!
Ale makes me sing!
Ale makes me love!
Ev-ry-thing!”
Also:
The gates to the Citadel of Flame are now open!
(1 minute later) The gates to the Citadel of Flame are now open!
Smoking them, I see what you did there.
Note that the armor that Yoda is talking about is most likely Rabid or Carrion.
Considering most people with GS tend to just AA spam in between cooldowns, here’s a thought for food: Cast GS3 immediately [as/]after the third strike hits. This will negate, or cancel, the remaining animation time, which is about 30% of the cast time. You will still be standing still for a tad bit, but it won’t be a big gimp to your DPS (unless you miss, in which case you just opened up to get DPS’ed on).
Additionally, if you have extra keys and quick access, you can create a keybinding that would set a key to instead press Esc instead of that keys function (allowable by ANet’s ToS because you are pressing one key to do one action, I press F and it acts as Esc is allowed), you can then use that to cancel the animations and get a tad more out of your auto attacks. This will make you very obvious to opponents, but will increase your downtime DPS by a HUGE margin.
Not that I use GS… I prefer staff, opting for GS only when against destructible bosses like TA (still use Staff against Tree, unless I’m lazy and want to afk) or Maw (simply because the elementals reflect projectiles).
I really wish they’d take Swiftness off of Signet of Inspiration’s proc table, and simply make it a 25% speed boost passive along with the extra boon every 10 seconds.
That would be ridiculous, I don’t mind it being 10% with the boon, but I derno.
I used to run Osicats with full bers, I’ve since modified it drastically to change my gear to valk, and my playstyle took an entire turn so I don’t shattercat anymore. I’m going to work 0on my 6th armor set which will be a more PvP/solo oriented version of my build where I can play safe while dealing large damage.
Shattercat is pretty standard and helps you get back into the fastpaced Mesmer style. If you’re not really into the concert piano, try Lazy Kai instead.
It’s funny that Bird Song is saying that they’re feeding us badges. Every time I asked for help against them to wipe them (with him and his zerg) he said to ignore them and leave the base from the side.
I personally got a few badges from when they were camping, but once they left the base, I got tons more from them, because they were actually dying instead of just having one upleveled die because of stupidity.
Camping outside of a spawn is unsportsmanlike. Sure, we’re ahead, and sure I knew inside that we’d catch up, but it’s silly to throw a guild right outside a base during their off hours (my pic was posted and taken about half an hour before our day crew started logging on). It’s like kicking down a conglomerate and then putting it at gunpoint. Of course, it’s going to rebound, but it’s still silly.
And no, I do not represent NSP as a whole. I represent NSP as ONE PLAYER known as Esplen. If you are unable to see the difference, then your world is very ignorant. (You see what I did there?)
Tested on my own character. I only get facial clipping (not the eyeball). Not really noteworthy in my opinion.
There’s still about 15 HH member from GoM camping our spawn in EB.
poor form.
Yeah, supposedly we couldn’t get in. Now we’re getting some love from Head Hunts [HH] on GoM. Very sportsmanlike, sirs, very sportsmanlike.
Change your MainMenu audio selection via the Audio change that’s stickied. You can add new or blank audio files to have it play something else or nothing.
Aggro in this game is “when a mob feels like it” not based on anything else. Stealth no longer drops that “I WANT TO KEEL YOU” behavior, therefore it is all working as intended. If you want a mob to kill clones instead of you, start by spawning as many clones as possible BEFORE engaging him with your damage spells (e.g. Staff 2 + Sword 3 + Roll —> Spawn more clones/phantasms —> Start using auto attacks).
My face is like a little raisin…
I believe the hair styles are the weakest point of the the Azura. Also the fact that items scale. I purchased the Charr backpack and can’t see it. I wish it was bigger. I kinda wish the Greatswords and some other weapons were bigger because it would almost be pointless having flash stuff because you cant see it unless you’re really zoomed in all the time :/
You’re crazy if you think stuff is too small to see. Maybe you need a larger screen?
I keep my screen zoomed out all the way and everything is visible, minus clipped 1h weapons.
I feel like the only way to make it better in PvE and sPvP without completely reworking it is to give it higher duration, but that would break it in WvW.
I’d like a skill with a randomized effect. Like chaos storm, but instead of conditions possibly fields, or even skill effects in its’ entirety.
Something that you can’t control in any way, shape, or form.
They do stack, it just does not show in y our tooltip. Your actual skills will have the correct cooldown when used.
Try running staff cooldowns, mix in rune of the guardians, swap out your sigils for burn duration/burn duration + condmg stacking
Move the master of manipulation down a tier so you can get staff cooldowns.
Retaliatory shield AND confusing cry is a bit redundant, you’ll get too much retaliation to make that worth it, so I would suggest bumping all the shatter traits down one and grabbing iPersona for more shatter bursts/confusion on shatters.
Test it and see how you like it and we’ll go from there?
To Answer Advent…
Considering the sheer scope of Asuran endeavours: I’m arguing equal parts straight IQ and creative intelligence. They probably also access more of their brain’s “spare” space.
Brains don’t have spare space.
You are wrong in this regard. The brain is composed of synapse that connect with each other. Each connection is a memory and/or remembrance of something. By making more connections, you strengthen a specific memory and can remember it “easier”. These connections, on a molecular level, are actually the blank space in your brain being filled with particles that connect point a to point b.
Layman description.
Source: My physiology class from way back when.
Well, in regards to runes, you are correct, in regards to traits (Mender’s Purity) it’s activates, not charges. Silly ANet being inconsistent.
Activates, not Charges. However, most on-heals have a cooldown, so keep that in mind.
I love purple and fuchsia-that said, the original colors of the Memer ARE green, believe it or not. Check out GW1. It just so happens that Mesmer’s SKILLS themselves were purple, (even on GW1) and as a byproduct, now most people seem to believe Mesmers are “meant” to look purplish.
I do like the purple scheme with the right dyes and skins. I wear purple in real life-it’s an really awesome color, and have nothing against purple wearing Mesmers, despite their “Green Honet”-like beginnings.
In guild wars 1, they were more bardish which is why they were green. Bards are typically related to forests and greenery, they also wore green/brown as they weren’t quite royalty.
In guild wars 2, they are more royalty and have strayed from their bardic roots. They still retain some of their bardic roots, but it’s not as obvious.
I want to wield just one (one-handed) sword, no offhand. Why? It’s more practical and it looks, in my opinion, cooler.
All the time, much more than I care to count. In fact, right now as I’m typing this, my character is at hte Lion in Lion’s Arch from the EB gate and still short-necked. oh, wait, now I’m at the bank and it fixed, but all the particles and players and npc’s haven’t rendered, yayyy… welcome to my laptop..
hence the whole illusion thing… I personally think it would be ridiculously cool if the only people that the illusions were visible to were the target they were cast on and the memser. After all this class is supposed to be a mind kitten… How much more crazy does it get when no one else but you and the Mesmer can see the illusions!
Would be nice, but then they’d probably have to cater to that and make clones per-target, therefore allowing players to have more than 3 clones out… just 3 per target.
You can just right click preview.
Ah, I didn’t read that “not” I was like “WHY YOU BASHING ME WHILE AGREEING”!
Yeah, I’ve started using them as a distraction when facing Champions, but it’s REALLY slow, it just lets me play against Champions without having to have an adrenalin rush to survive. (Staff with no ConDmg is safe, but slooooooooow.)
Kai, I hope you realize that by shattering, you aren’t keeping them alive. That’s why I said you don’t have to worry about keeping them alive, because if they are alive, you’ll shatter them, anyways.
You shouldn’t try to keep your clones alive.
By solo do you mean solo out in the world, solo WvW, or solo dungeons. Solo WvW and Dungeons are REALLY nitpicky about what you’re doing and where.
Solo out in the world is just whatever you want, mostly focusing on your gear. You can look into Shattercat or Lazy Kai if you don’t want to support at all and focus on yourself.
That’s a problem with standardized testing. There’s no telling how much potential someone has or how smart they are overall, it’s just a relative test for a specific purpose.
To put it simply, standardized tests are not very fair and they reward people who memorize, not people who learn.
Also, if you want to act like an Asura, simply tell yourself this: I’m not the smartest person, but I’m not dumb.
Make up words, if you have to (if you’re role-playing). Eternal Alchemy knows how many times I’ve made up strings of words to come out sounding smart… clearly I know what a Quantiphasic Coil Capacitor is. (Actually, I do know what that is…)
Blast finisher is totally gone. I’m pretty sure that leaves us with 0 blast finishers now.
Other than racials, yes, it does.
You were fighting that tower lord in an absurdly sub-optimal way. You mentioned something about keeping chaos armor up, but you didn’t use a leap combo in chaos storm or feedback ever to get chaos armor. Additionally, you were using a weapon with a bouncing attack, the staff, but you were so far away from the lord that none of the attacks were bouncing, effectively robbing you of massive amounts of might, fury, and double the dps on the lord.
Yea it was only my second time going up solo against a tower lord so I was being careful with range and what have you as I wasnt sure what his attacks were.
I narrate videos after they are recorded, my build is based around keeping chaos armor up as much as possible, roughly when I say it I drop Null Field and staff 2ed out of it to keep it up, when I rewatched it while narrating I must have saw that and said it :p
Technique is improving slowly on getting these guys down solo as its so hard to get in the tower with no support.
Thanks for the feedback though
If you intend on making soloing towers a habit, then modify your build for the occasion by putting 20 into inspiration and traiting focus. As you did notice, the lords are 100% ranged. The traited focus obviously won’t do as much damage in a condition setup like you have, but once you get 2 wardens down (with illusions X as well), you have pretty much 100% uptime on projectile reflects, so you can just afk the fight.
Traiting into the focus doesn’t cause your iWarden to reflect, it causes your Curtain to reflect. iWarden reflects naturally.
Unless you’re traiting for faster double warden, it’s not really useful for his build. If you are running a Power/straight damage build instead of condition damage, then this is a better method versus running WoCspam, but he’s going ConDmg so WoCspam is probably the fastest and safest method to work with. Also, if the warden is behind him, it won’t reflect. Just keep that in mind.
I actually like the random boons… with my boon duration build, I have 100% uptime on at least one boon except protection.
I would, however, like perma swiftness even if it means a higher rng of swiftness out of combat.
The color and butterflies and other things have to do with chaos and the mesmer class… It is somewhere here in the forum… Understand the meaning behind it and you won’t be so cynical of it.
Purple is [generally] a color of royalty and butterflies are a symbol of chaos (relative to the chaos theory, think the butterfly effect).
Mesmers in gw2 are generally upper class (poise and elegance is not typically found in the lower class) and manipulate chaos.
Simple layman summary of the longer post regarding what they meant.
