No offense, but you all need to learn to play. Instead of looking up supposedly “good” builds to use for your Elementalist, make up your own and see how good you can be. Seriously though, all you’re doing is wasting your time looking at builds that you probably will suck with. I just made an amazing staff build with absolute fantastic survivability and damage in about 5 minutes. I will not share that build for fear of it being nerfed, but just know that there are viable builds that you can make yourself.

The Elementalist is difficult to play, and most people suck at it. That’s being too nice though. Let’s say they might as well throw their Elementalists off of the nearest cliff, because that’s more useful than what they were doing before. Blocking people’s fields of vision.

People in this mmorpg whine like nobody’s business because they suck and can’t learn to play their class correctly. I play an Elementalist in PvE and PvP, and I can safely say that I can destroy any class 1vs1 with the build I am using. Even if I use a staff.

If you don’t already have one, get into a guild and ask them for certain Elementalist builds that you can use. I’m sorry, I actually don’t feel safe posting my builds that I make on the forums anymore because every time I do, they somehow get nerfed, and I really don’t want that to happen with the build I’m using currently.

Tengu?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

What is the purpose of having Tengu around with models if they serve no purpose in the game. I know people think they might become a playable race in the future but that now seems highly unlikely with Anet’s stance on the idea of expansions (I would love to see them as a playable race, prefer avians over cats).

On that note will we see any sort of new areas with the living story, as in a new region to explore rather than a dungeon or small addition to pre-exsisting maps?

The simple answer is that they’re part of the lore. We had Tengu in Guild Wars 1, so now we have them in Guild Wars 2. They don’t do anything, just like the Skritt, but they’re there.

Stop playing on machines from the late 90s. A 3rd gen intel i5 and a GTX 640 GPU will run Tequatl on max settings without breaking a sweat. The problem isn’t the servers or even the engine. It’s YOUR machine.

Source: Running Teq with no lag on max settings on a Dell XPS 8500 with a 3rd Gen i5 processor and GTX640 GPU

No, it’s not the machine. I have a computer that’s from 2007 and it has been able to handle every game I’ve thrown at it so far at max settings. And I play a ton of graphic-heavy games.

Then I come to Guild Wars 2 and I can barely run it on medium settings. Items disappear until the game can load them, sound disappears out of nowhere, and half the time, I just disconnect out of Teq fights for no reason at all. I get the same results on my laptop with an i5, except worse.

Does anyone actually LIKE their class?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I was wondering why people might hate their class, and someone in another forum said something that would most likely be the answer. They said there were two reasons for hating your class.

1. You’ve never played mmorpgs before so you do not know that you need to gravitate toward a certain build if you want to play that way.

2. Players do not know how to explore their class themselves. Instead, they research other builds, and if that build is advertised as “the best build for X class currently”, yet the player sucks with that build, they automatically assume it’s their class that sucks, and not the build.

Recently, I found myself bored with the amount of damage my Elementalist was putting out in PvE. I tried might, condition damage, and finally precision. By doing this, I was able to see that my damage was lowered considerably when I used condition damage, and when I used might, it stayed mediocre. Yet when I tried precision, my critical hit chance was raised to about 87%, and now my Power and Precision are nearly equal. Nobody told me I could raise my precision that high and ultimately achieve really amazing dps, I had to explore it myself.

4. Dulfy
I have never used Dulfy’s guide to any of the events. I go completely off of NPCs in game, the mail that gets sent out at the beginning of a new event, and reading the achievement descriptions. The only time I was tempted to look up a guide was for the Vexxa’s lab achievement when looking for the kite baskets, but in the end I just didn’t do it. I’m also super casual, I play about 2-4 nights a week. I generally get most of the achievements finished either way, and if I find I’m bored before I finish them all then I just don’t finish them all.

6. Achievements, Achievements, Achievements, Achievements
I think the point of some of the achievements are to track progress or provide guidance in the game. For example, when I feel like doing a new jumping puzzle I take a look at the achievements and use their fancy “show me the area I should look in” and I go on my merry jumping way. I’ve never felt pressured to do them, but when I’m not sure what I want to do then I go browse through and it usually gives me an idea. But, I honestly don’t care if I’m ever able to kill 1,000 giants (or whatever it is).

7. Time Gating
Since I don’t usually play every day, I haven’t been affected by this.

To summarize, I don’t feel any of the pressure to play every day and finish all of the achievements. Its funny too because I got God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals in guild wars 1 which was a ton of grind, but that was when I was in college and didn’t work 8-5. I get it that the living story achievements go away and you get something for completing X number of them per segment, but the rewards are all flare and cosmetic so I’m just as good as everyone else if I get the reward or not. I like the living story cycle since there’s always something new to explore and experience, but that’s just my personal preference.

Sorry, but I don’t believe that you’ve never used Dulfy or another game guide. The reasons for this are:

1. There are no hints whatsoever as to where certain items might be hidden, but you are asked to go fetch them nonetheless.

2. For Southsun anyway, there is no possible way you could’ve known which npc’s were important, and which ones were not. You would’ve had to go through each and every npc on the island, which would’ve taken at least 2 hours.

Again, I do not believe you just go off of the “npc’s”, the “mail”, and the “achievement description”. Unless you severely hate yourself with a passion, you’ve used Dulfy on at least one occasion. I do that too where I read the mail, listen to the npc’s, and read the achievement description. Sometimes there are some helpful hints, but most of the time it sends you out into the world blind. And this coming from a “Legend of Zelda” player where there are no hints in the game, or they’re completely useless, yet I still find things easier in Zelda than in Guild Wars 2.

I’ve achieved this title playing slowly.
Do you have any idea of how long it may take to achieve it speed clearing hearts/wp/sp/vistas?

Would you be interested in doing it again if there was a good reward at the end?

I’m working on world completion right now, and I’ve gotten about 40% in 2 or 3 days, which isn’t too bad for a person with two jobs, a life, and many other events going on.

To answer your first question, I’d say that if you’re super hardcore and have lots of time on your hands, then you could get world completion in a week.

To answer your second, yes. I’d do it again if it had a better reward.

Upon entering a zone, a lot of times my sound will just disappear for an incredibly long time until I waypoint to another zone. I’ve had this ever since the beginning of GW2, and I really don’t understand why.

I can hear certain sounds, like clicking, opening a menu, or talking to an npc, but sounds like my footsteps, when I jump, and when I cast skills just disappear. And then when I’m in a specific zone, my sound gradually decreases until it disappears completely right in the middle of a zone. (This is all sounds, not just specific ones).

Galtrix.7369

Sorry, but I don’t agree with this. 90% of the people on my server need to learn to play. Literally, I can’t issue one simple order without 100+ people going, “der, duh, waht am I spposed to do nao?” Don’t get me started on the people that take control of the turrets. We get afk people, we get people that only use the buffs of the turret on themselves, and last time we got two people that literally wanted to play “Water fight” with the turrets. They aimed only at each other for the entire Teq fight.

Yet I guest to Blackgate and everyone is organized and most people listen when I tell them they need to do something. I think I picked the 10 year old server by accident. Do not make me spend another Teq fight in my server, because I will explode. It’s good that some servers are getting all the attention anyway. More people = more chance of success for that server.

I absolutely hate relying on other people to complete events like this. For example:
1. We had an afk on the turret that let at least 150 people die. Twice.
2. There was another commander that refused to listen to my plans and led half of my zerg to die a terrible death in one swipe of Teq’s claw.
3. There was a commander that came up with the worst plan I have ever heard in my life. It made my eyes bleed to read it. I gave suggestions, he refused repeatedly and killed us all using his stupid plan.
4. There were literally about 20 afk people standing by the turrets and just making the event scale up to a higher difficulty.

All of this happened in two fights with Teq. Just two.

This event is possible, but unfortunately, people suck.

And I don’t think Anet intended it this way, but I don’t revive people anymore because I fear that I will insta-die myself from the infinite poison clouds that they’re sitting in. I just let them die and they can run back themselves.

Galtrix.7369

Yeah, this thing needs a nerf. I like difficult content, because I’m a really hardcore player, but after organizing about 200 people by dividing a certain amount for each turret/mega-laser, and then only getting him to about 80%, I feel depressed.

I even had 3 commanders on each turret, and 1 commander fighting Teq directly so people would know where to gather. There were still those genius’s that left the turrets to go and help fight Teq who killed them the moment they stepped into his poison rings after I repeatedly told them, “Don’t go there, you’ll die by the poison rings”. I laughed a lot during that fight.

All in all though, I still felt like we were organized and doing well until Teq wiped everyone out in one swipe and then flew away.

This fight needs to be difficult, not impossible. I even saw some Anet players that were standing and helping us fight. I could almost visibly see them shaking their heads when we only got him to 80%.

People on the turrets should be removing the poison, thats the whole point of #3 skill.

And Anet was there helping? Really?

Na, dont buy it.

“Wide Charr” was helping on the turrets. He said something to the effect of, “We need to take down the bone walls with the turrets, otherwise he’ll kill us and then we won’t finish for sure”.

And yes, I repeatedly told the turrets to cleanse the poison, but they instead decided it was best to help kill Teq directly by running to their death for some odd reason, and abandoning the turrets so there was nobody to use them.

You cannot, no matter how hard you try, organize a group of more than 100 people. I just tried to do it, and there were afk genius’s standing in poison rings, ding-a-lings that were dancing in Teq’s face while he farted on them and they died, and then there are the people that disagree with any plan a commander comes up with, and they end up leading about half of your zerg to certain death.

I honestly don’t know how Anet expects people to lead a zerg this large against a fight that’s impossible in the first place.

I literally almost cried when I saw that there was a timer for Teq. Why. On earth. Would Anet. Put a 15 minute timer. On the most difficult boss in the game. The boss timers were literally the worst idea that I’ve ever seen in an mmorpg before.

Galtrix.7369

I miss the days when I used to get killed by a simple swipe from Teq, but now, I get mega-killed by lag. You may be asking yourself, what is mega-killed? Well, mega-killed by lag means that I lag, then die, then proceed to disconnect!

There are simply way too many people and flashy effects for my computer to handle even stepping inside that Teq map for 2 seconds. I literally prepared about 200 people by sending certain people to each turret, sending a specific amount of people to the mega-laser, and sending the rest to fight Teq head-on. I was prepared. We got him down to about 80% health and I was feeling amazing, and then I disconnect. My settings are lowered to crap, and my computer is only a few years old, yet I still can’t fight Teq with this lag. For all I know, the people of my server could’ve killed him, and I’ve got nothing to show for it. Heck, they probably won’t even remember the person that organized them into groups and planned the strategy that led them to victory.

Is there a way to increase drop rate?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

The drop rate doesn’t change depending on whether you’re in a party or not. I can tell you from experience, because I’ve farmed more champions than probably 99% of people in this game.

This coming from a guy who spends at least 3 hours a day farming champs. 5 if I’m feeling particularly greedy. I can tell you right now that there was absolutely no difference in loot when I joined a party, and when I decided to follow the train solo.

Considering that I have the total opposite results, it all may depend on build?

Edit: I was using Necro with a power build. My Guardian seems a little more self sufficient though

The RNG in this game is particularly strange, so it’s nearly impossible to try and compare the loot while in a party, and while doing it solo. I can get crap loot for 2 hours straight and then get 6 lodestones in a row, or I can get 3 rares in a row, and then get crap loot for the next hour or so. I’ve had these things happen when I solo and when in a party, but I didn’t see a significant change in loot. That’s all I’m saying.

As such, it would be logical to assume that people would have varying experiences when it comes to champion and normal monster loot.

Why is this game called Guild Wars 2?

Guild Wars is in reference to a historical War in the Tyria’s lore. Nothing to do with player guilds vs Player guilds. The Guild Wars ended when the Char invaded Ascalon

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This guy above.

Seriously, just do a search for like 30sec and you’ll find the answer. The Guild Wars has nothing to do with Guild vs Guild at all….so, just stop already, please. The Guild Wars is most notably about the 3rd Guild War, which spread into the streets of Orr (when it was still a major thing). This war was interrupted by the Charr invasions, using The Searing -mystical cauldron that shot giant burning crystals down to areas of their choosing (given to them by false gods known as Titans, who were really minions of Abaddon)- at which point a nutjob by the name of Vizier Khilbron decided to read a forbidden scroll and sink Orr. That ended the Charr invasion which ended the 3rd Guild War.

There’s a [fake] history lesson for you. Enjoy.

That’s pretty misleading to a person wanting to buy the game, don’t you think? Logic would say that there must be guild wars in a game called Guild Wars 2.

Putting the GUILD in Guild Wars.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I like your ideas, but why not add Guild Keeps into the equation? Your guild would fight against another guild, and you would each have a “Guild Keep” or a “Guild Castle”. The goal would be to lay siege to each other’s keeps by building WvW-like Siege Engines to knock down the front outer gate of the keep. Once inside, you would destroy two power crystals – one to the left, and one to the right. Take a look at the attached picture below. The green arrows are where the crystals would be located. After destroying those crystals, the inner gate, (with the red arrow pointing to it), would disintegrate or fall down. Once inside the center of the keep, you would need to destroy the mega-crystal, which lies directly in the center and powers the entire magical essence of the castle. Destroy that, and the castle will crumble, and you will be victorious!

All of this would occur while players from opposite guilds strategically kill each other off. Now, to prevent players from spawning in their castle and killing invading guild members too quickly, each death you receive will give you an extra 10 second wait time on top of the original 15 seconds to spawn. The spawn time will cap at 2 minutes to give teams a chance to penetrate the keep’s gates.

Imagine the strategy that would take place if this were actually an event in this game. I could imagine guilds leaving behind defenders while appointing players that would lay siege to the castle. I could imagine the guild leader appointing lookouts on all four corners of the castle to ensure there wasn’t an ambush taking place, or scouts that would be sent into the forest at the halfway point between castles that would look for an approaching enemy or siege weapon.

Proof of skills?

To show that you got skills are many gamers wish, it’s in human nature to show that you are the top dog in some things and yada yada.

I my opinion, defining the word skill can be discussed for some time. Either way, I’ve been wondering, what ‘’proof of skill’’ does Guild Wars 2 have?

Is Liadri the only thing so far to prove that you got some kind of skill? Is the Super Adventure Box Tribulation Mode in some way a proof of skill?

Are these two the only stuff we got so far to show some proof of skill?

Aren’t there some PvP titles that only a small amount of people got recently, because they have been in tournaments and such?

MMO’s have not ever and do not currently take skill. They take time, patience and basic motor function. The ability to memorize scripted events is also a plus. Liadri was nothing more than trial and error, learning her mechanics.

WoW takes more skill than Guild Wars 2 ever will. I have 20 skills to pick from instead of 10. It takes a lot of skill to memorize those 20 skills and when to use them in certain situations. I’ve never needed to do that in GW2 ever. All I do is spam 1-5 and I’m good.

This just in, forumite scientifically proves dominoes takes more skill than chess, because there are, obviously, more pieces in dominoes.

Hahaha. Thanks for that laugh, that was fun. Read my post again. “…and when to use them in certain situations”. Those situations come a lot more frequently in WoW than they do in GW2. Why? Because a pally might come up to you and you see a giant sword appear above your head, meaning the pally’s intention is to stun you. As your stun takes less time to activate, you use yours first and follow by stacking bleeds on the pally.

I can honestly say that I utterly destroy people just by smashing 1-5 on the keyboard and barely use 1% of my brain capacity when I do this. There are no strategic maneuvers you might attempt in combat, because they don’t exist.

Gates help to stretch out the time it takes to create such high end weapons. It makes them more meaningful when you worked your behind off, just like the feeling when you make your first Legendary weapon.

Also, gates do help keep the rarity of such items. Without them, people with lots of money would be the first ones to quickly buy all the mats, and make full sets of Ascended weapons/armors/accessories. Whether you are a hardcore grinder, or the casual that can only manage a couple of hours a day, a gate lets both types of players craft an Ascended in the same time. In other words, gates bring balance.

By the way, I’m not a hardcore gamer. I consider myself a higher tier Casual, as real life job and family prevents me from playing the amount of time that I want to play GW2.

All time-gating does is stall the hardcore players so the casual players can have time to collect all the mats or the money to buy the mats. Yes, time-gating does bring about a sort of “balance”, but it also infuriates the hardcore players to no end. Seven out of eight of my hardcore friends just quit GW2 because of the time-gating, and many more hardcore players will eventually find the guts to quit, including myself. I foresee most of the hardcore players quitting and all that’ll be left are the casuals. Have fun with that.

A good guild always comes up with fun and new things to do in the game.

Such as what? Or are you just saying to hang out with friends? “Do random stuff with friends” doesn’t really have anything to do with GW2.

Wat. Guilds don’t have anything to do with “Guild Wars 2”? Once you hit level 80, all there is to do is hang out with friends, play mini-games, or do the living story which is just one big, giant mini-game.

Time-gating does not make grind more grindy.

It kind of does by enforcing a certain pace. I believe it should be up to the player when he or she feels like doing it. If somebody wants to spend all day collecting these materials they should be allowed to do just that.

I could’ve crafted my ascended weapon on day 2 of the patch if the materials weren’t time-gated. I find it stupid that stuff is time-gated at all in an mmo.

Yes, just what this game needs! More time-gated stuff! Let’s take a look at all the time-gated stuff Anet has added over the past few months. Dailies, monthlies, crystal shards, laurels, Mega boss chests, crafting materials, and heaven knows what else. I could probably find a list somewhere where there are about 50 time-gated items.

If Anet adds a single time-gated piece of content, I am making my character leap off the tallest cliff in Tyria, leave him dying on the ground, logging out, and uninstalling the game.

Is Pressing Dodge & 1 Better Than a Trinity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

@Galtrix:

What if, instead of making a pure “healing” class, they boosted the ability to support? I do recognize that healing others should be a good bit more powerful than it currently is, but there shouldn’t need to be a dedicated healer. Having a dedicated healer puts a hard check on the ability of a group to progress. No healer, no boss.

I realize that these would all require large balance changes, I’m just trying to brainstorm ways to make support more effective.

-Improve combos. Add more, give them different effects, make them more meaningful. As it is, I see them used primarily for might stacking and healing. Maybe a support character would be able to create fields more, so that allies could finish them? I think this could be improved, I’m just not sure how.

-Give classes more powerful abilities that help allies, but not themselves. For example, a Guardian could have an ability that temporarily redirects 50% of incoming damage on nearby allies to themselves. This could be used proactively to give a survivable class a chance to mitigate the damage taken by allies.

-Make CC more effective on bosses. This is a tricky one, since a chainstunned boss often negates some mechanics. However, as it stands, the “control” role doesn’t actually work since bosses are immune. One way of doing it would be by making bosses somewhat like Liadri: Some of the mechanics are caused by the boss themself, while others are environmental effects. That way, CC doesn’t have to be quite so limited, but a group of engineers together can’t trivialize the boss with their juggling.

-Have bosses use conditions more liberally. One of the largest aspects of support available is condition management. Some professions remove them, some professions convert them, some professions transfer them. However, almost every profession has some ability to help an ally mitigate conditions. A boss might deal damage with bleeds instead of white damage, and players have to cure their allies from time to time.

-Make player “support conditions” more powerful. Give a boss heals that we have to poison. Give a boss spike damage we have to apply weakness to counter. Give a boss abilities with cooldowns effected by chill, and give us reason for that to matter.

-Have a boss that makes dodging much less available. Making it impossible would probably hurt some builds far more than others, so don’t remove it completely. Maybe you have to pick up / walk over an item to get dodge charges? Perhaps dodge regenerates at half rate? Dodge trivialized some mechanics, but because it was partially taken into account in design, getting rid of it would be more trouble than is worth.

Also, for the record, while it isn’t optimal it can be fun to play as support. I’ve got a full set of cleric’s gear to run on my engie, and while it isn’t playing a dedicated healer by any means, the healing is often appreciated by my allies. I particularly like it when running content with inexperienced members, as I can save their butts while not doing everything for them.

I agree with all of that 100%. In fact, I suggested the idea that bosses could do condition damage and target people with various conditions every few seconds so people would be inclined to bring a support player or switch to support themselves. I suggested that in the suggestions section of the forum about 4 times, but haven’t gotten a single reply from a dev. I’ve gotten lots of happy comments that supported the idea, but not a single view from a dev.

But yes, making support more viable would make me happy

@Sylentir

First off, let me apologize for the way I worded things in my previous post. I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to re-read and make things sound a little more eloquent. I in no way meant to berate you for your opinions of WoW.

You’re not too far off base, by the way. But WoW’s forums are famous for being negative and full of pointless exaggerations. All of the people that are enjoying the game are currently in the game, not on the forums. I played WoW since its beginning, so I have a ton of experience with bugs and such.

Also, let me clarify this part. I put “considered” in the sentence because people immediately assumed that a class was instantly bad if they deviated from the normal healing spec, tanking spec, or dps spec that was associated with their class. They, and only they considered my class bad because I deviated from the norm. Yet I proved them wrong time and time again, and ultimately, it led to other people experimenting with certain aspects of their class, such as a tanking Druid.

As for the exploitable mechanics, I thought you meant economic exploitations and not class exploitations. Yes, there were and still are plenty of those, but I haven’t really experienced much of those. I mean, the Warlock fear was the only one I experienced, but other people complained about some of those a lot.

Later on in your post you mentioned how all classes got a rework done. If I’m not mistaken, that rework was nearly at the end of year one. When I say that the classes were almost perfectly balanced, my statement is taking place right after that patch, and in my opinion, they’ve done a pretty dang good job keeping up the balancing.

Alright: Now for ascended gear. I’m not against ascended gear or raids at all, and it wasn’t my intention to imply that at all. I really like that they’ve added ascended weapons, are going to add armor, and they’re going to add raids as well. My point was to show that GW2 is trying to become like other mmos, or at least they’re implementing some popular ideas from those mmos.

I don’t know, I actually really like the idea of a trinity in GW2, except for the fact that there is no healing class. It kind of makes me question the point of having a bunch of different classes if we’re all dps. Sure, there are different playstyles, but we’re all doing dps and not much else. I get that people like to play differently, like I prefer to play magical classes, and others might prefer melee classes, but it just feels strange to not be healing people when their health is low. It also feels strange when I get on my support Elementalist, because I’m pretty much not needed, and my dps takes a massive skydive because of my support stats. That’s just my opinion anyway.

Has ArenaNet abandoned underwater combat?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Personally i dislike the underwater combat because;

1) Heavily Unbalanced
2) Z axis
3) No, seriously, heavily unbalanced, it has been 1 year since release and the game is in a really bad balancing state, and now you want to make it worse by adding more stuff to take into consideration?!
4) Cant seem to be able to get my point across clearly so I will say it again; game is really unbalanced, underwater is even worse.
5) Cant finish off players there, rangers are impossible to kill, mesmers can put and keep up 25 stacks of bleed in less than 2 seconds, you cant hit thieves, eles get rolled, guardians are so meh….etc etc etc

Yup. Pretty much this. I have never played an mmorpg in my life that was so unbalanced. This coming from a thief. People literally cannot hit me when I go underwater at all. Why? I tap one skill which costs 3 initiative, (barely anything), and they can’t hit me for 5 seconds while I can still attack them. And I can SPAM that skill over and over.

Yet I get on my Elementalist and get stunned, punched in the gut repeatedly, and killed in like 3 seconds. I might as well just spontaneously combust automatically when I enter water. In fact, I would probably prefer that because it would spare me from humiliation.

I would let Anet do a complete maintenance of the game where they took it offline for a month to do the maintenance, just so they could analyze the classes and determine a good balancing point, because it’s been an entire year, and the classes are still crap.

My gosh, all GW2 has become is pretty much mindless mini-games and feel-good mini events. If you consider those “end-game”, then you have either never played an mmorpg in your life before GW2, or you don’t know the definition of end-game.

And you know why generic mmos do so well? Because they have studied other games and pulled every single good aspect of that game into their game. Now you see what happens when mmos try to deviate from content that was studied and found to bring more players.

Eh, got through 2 paragraphs before I realized that this wouldn’t be an mmorpg or barely even a game if you decided to create a game based on what you just suggested.

Sorry, but it really would just be playing dress up if you eliminated most of the things GW2 has. Heck, even with all it has, I still feel like I’m playing barbie dress up.

What? No record of it? That’s really odd. Stuff like this is stored in your character/account database, and they should be keeping back-ups. So either they didn’t say that or are too lazy to look? Running a database query on the backups should give a complete history of the item in question.

Yes, I can say with 90% certainty that they said that. I can’t find the email because I deleted it in my rage, but I think that’s what they said.

I was too mad to respond with, “How can that possibly be? Are you seriously telling me that you have no record whatsoever that I never had that item in the first place? Next I’m going to get my character hacked, and are you going to tell me that you have no record of my character as well?”

After that I just lost all of my will to continue playing and I stopped playing for about 5 months, because I couldn’t even continue playing a game where my items and gold could be deleted in an instant and I get no compensation. Hah, when I brought my issue to the forums, I even had people tell me that I brought that upon myself and that it was my fault for a bug that Anet created.

Last time you had the oh yes! feeling?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I never had that “Oh, yes!” feeling in GW2 except for when they improved the rewards a couple patches ago. Other than that, I look at the pre-patch notes that Anet puts on the forums and they don’t interest me at all. The last patch I participated in was the Southsun patch, which wasn’t even that good either.

I feel like I’d have a ton more, “Oh, yes!” feelings if Anet removed the waypoints system entirely. They created an amazing, beautiful world for your eyes to enjoy and then they created the skip button (being the waypoints) so you don’t have to look at the world. I get most of my happiness from looking at the beautiful mmo worlds. This is where Spock comes in and says, “That is highly illogical”, and I agree.

Is Pressing Dodge & 1 Better Than a Trinity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Anet has shown some steps at moving towards more difficult content that requires something other than dodge & deeps. Gauntlet, particularly Liadri, was one example. The aetherblade dungeon was another. I was away when the F&F dungeon was around, so I can’t speak for experience on that one.
They are revamping all world bosses, starting with Teq. Teq in particular requires some DPS, some cannon-users, and some people protecting the cannon-users (Ie, roles other than flat DPS).
They are adding 3 new fractals in the foreseeable future, hopefully at least one of which will be difficult and require something other than dodge&deeps.

Remember that this game is relatively new. In WoW’s early days, if you had a druid or paladin and weren’t healing, you were an idiot. There were massive balance issues and enormously exploitable mechanics. GW2 has some time to tone down on its own.

Let me help you out there. “if you had a druid or paladin and weren’t healing, you were considered an idiot”. I played a pally tank and a Druid tank/dps in the beginning stages of WoW’s early life and I can honestly say that I was better than most people that were actually specced for it.

Let me help you out again. “There were small balance issues that were fixed almost immediately and there were almost no exploitable mechanics”. I really don’t understand your sentence there at all, because the classes were pretty well balanced, (Moreso than in GW2 at least), and please enlighten me to the exploitable mechanics you’re talking about. Because I played WoW for years upon years and haven’t experienced a single exploited mechanic. Even so, the “exploited mechanic” you’re talking about couldn’t be nearly as bad as champ farming is now.

WoW was pretty near its peak amazingness akittens 1-year mark, but I feel like Guild Wars 2 is trying to crawl its way back up the popularity ladder by adding ascended gear and raids.

Oh, that sucks! Looks like Anet hasn’t fixed this bug yet, and probably never will, because they deny its existence.

Awhile ago, I had a 100 gold scepter disappear from my inventory and I sent in a support ticket to Anet. They basically said, “That sucks, we can’t do anything to help you. We have no record of you even having that item in your inventory anyway”. I had the same thing happen with the Zephyrite Sanctum Model.

Hope you have better luck than I did, because I never received compensation for that.
