I’d use it. It looks better than 90% of the dagger skins in the game already. Though, I do think using Viper projectiles is going a bit too far for one skin.

I am happy that you like it. All the graphics I wrote are similar kind of effects other legendaries have, I meant a Legendary from the start not just a skin.

Oh sorry. I didn’t see the “legendary” part. Selective reading I guess. Anyway, yeah, that’s a really cool idea for a legendary dagger and I’d like to see Anet implement it someday.

Is this game growing?

Galtrix.7369

Haha. Definitely not. Three out of four of my friends quit this game, and I asked them to take a look at some of the new content recently. Two of them logged in and played for about 5 minutes, then logged out and said they’d rather play barbie dolls with their kids or get hit by an oncoming train. The other person logged in for about 10 seconds, calmly logged out and uninstalled GW2, then took the disc and threw it out the nearest window into his backyard, to which the dogs happily devoured it and tore it apart.

I’ll tell you my experience. I had to keep switching guilds because I was pretty much the only one that ever logged in anymore. And they were massive guilds too! Each had just over 470 members, and they were thriving a few months ago. I am now in a guild with 100 members, of which 30 are active every few days. I can’t find anyone in PvE (and I play PvE for like 6 hours a day), and I can’t even capture a mini tower in WvW because I’m the only one there. Honestly, even patch days are looking sad on my server. There used to be huge numbers of people that showed up. Now I’m lucky to even get 7 people for Jormag or any other meta boss.

Official word on Ascended drop rate?

^ Seriously, one exotic drop? You never found one in bags, chests, etc? You got some bad luck then, I only do Living Story when I pve and I’ve gotten a few out of that.

Yup, one exotic drop. I didn’t even recognize it as an exotic at first, because I’d never seen one before, so I took a glance at it and thought it was a rare. Later on, I looked in my inventory and compared the color on the exotic scepter to the color on my exotic armor and found that they were exactly the same.

I have gotten a few exotics from the Mystic Fountain, but only because I spent like 50 gold on rare weapons and through them into the fountain in bulk. Still, not a single exotic was above 1.5 gold on the tp.

735 Hours, 37 Minutes. 1 exotic dropped from a mob. 2 from Champ loots since they’ve been added. RNG in GW2 can blow me.

3,000 hours played. 1 exotic dropped. Worth 1.2 gold on TP. I just picked that stupid thing up and deleted it out of my inventory, logged out, and haven’t been on since.

Too late……………………

Guild Wars 2, the game where there are no Guild Wars, and the story doesn’t matter.

Why didn’t Anet implement Guild Wars in Guild Wars 2? That’s just plain stupidity on their part. If the game is called “Guild Wars”, then having guild wars is a valid expectation from a player’s point of view. It shows they have no idea what they’re actually doing.

In all honesty, mmorpgs are losing cooperation and teamwork to conveniency. WoW was the first to go when it introduced the dungeon finder. There was no longer a need to physically shout “Looking for more, need Tank, DPS, healer”. All you had to do was push a button and bam! You’re in a party that was made for you. Because of this, players didn’t feel connected to the players in their party and therefore, did not feel the need to communicate much.

I really did notice a massive change in attitude when the dungeon group finder was implemented. People no longer felt the need to communicate with a group they didn’t feel attached with. A little later Blizzard implemented a targeting system where you could mark your targets for your party. Guess what that did? That pretty much obliterated any communication that might have been forced to take place.

That being said, since GW2 lacks a dungeon finder, there are obviously other reasons for the lack of communication and cooperation. One of the reasons is just that the content is way too easy. The content is so easy in fact, that it doesn’t require communication to complete. Anet pretty much holds your hand throughout the entire game so there is absolutely no need to ask people questions about what’s going on. Another reason is the Trading Post. I remember in WoW I had to sell my gear in the trade chat and physically meet someone to trade with them. Then Guild Wars 2 came along and completely destroyed that by forcing you to use the TP.

There is just no need for communication in mmorpgs anymore and it’s making me really sad to see that part of the games go, because that was a really fun part of the games. Watch all future mmorpgs: They will lack communication and teamwork as well if they decide to implement things like GW2 did.

Yet more proof that Anet has no clue how to run a proper mmorpg. And yet more proof that forum mods do not want suggestions of ideas that are better than their ideas. (The proof being that the op was infracted). I’ve played more mmorpgs in my lifetime than I can count, and every single one of them made sense. They made sense from a business perspective as well as from a player’s perspective. Then I come to GW2 and their constant updates are confusing, they disrupt the economy multiple times, and their game just doesn’t make sense from either perspective. There was literally no point in adding ascended gear other than to please the minority. What about the majority of GW2’s population?

I hate kids that play mmorpgs. Every single one of them. It seems like I get at least 3 of them in my party, whenever I join a party, in any mmorpg I play. Every one of them is rude, annoying, and their instinct is to complain about everything. I swear, I get the kids that are on their periods because they use all caps at me all the time, they can’t type more than 2 words before hitting enter. Example?

Heyy man

That right there makes me want to yell at Anet for not implementing age control. Heck, I see more 10 year olds than I do 20+ year olds in this game too. This game seems to be the worst because it doesn’t have a subscription fee.

Evolution of Guild Wars 2 in The First Year

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

You know what? I’m tired of the countless bugs, the fact that Guild Wars 2 is just a collection of over-glorified mini-games and activities, the fact that nothing impressive has been added and probably will never be added, and the fact that Anet continues to throw pointless content at us without even thinking of the consequences.

I stuck with this game through the good times, and the tough times. There was a bug where I lost 600 gold in the TP, and I didn’t receive my item that I bought. I sent in a support ticket to Anet, and they basically said, “Oh, that sucks. You’re screwed. We can’t help you so goodbye”.

Even after that freak show I decided to continue on and start over. Then came Southsun. I was neutral about the content, It was fun, but it wasn’t at the same time. I try to do an event, but a mob of about a thousand monsters comes to attack me and I die in milliseconds. I ask in map chat, “What the heck was that?”, to which someone replied that every single event in Southsun was bugged like that. There were about 16 events there, and to have all 16 bugged is insane and ludicrous.

Moving on to the Zephyr Sanctum…. I had a bug where I couldn’t pick up any Catcher skins from the chest at the end of the Sanctum Sprint. Actually, I couldn’t pick up anything from that chest. Again, same thing, I send in a support ticket, and Anet gets back to me with, “We can’t help you, so you might as well go play WoW”. I finally am able to pick up the wind catcher after I reinstalled the game, and then I try to equip it. I could not believe my eyes when it freaking deletes itself from my inventory.

I played Guild Wars 1 for years. Those were years that I enjoyed very much, and then to come here, and to be given so much garbage that’s passed off as a game nowadays is just immensely sad. On top of that, players actually accept this garbage with open hands and with nothing but smiles on their faces, and it makes me utterly sick. Those people are single-handedly killing Guild Wars 2 by saying everything is alright.

Anet also keeps shoving RNG boxes in our faces expecting us to pay for them. I would rather just buy the tickets from the boxes outright, yet Anet continues to push them onto us. I’ve never seen a company that’s so persistent about making us spend money at every chance we get. I’m extremely tolerant when it comes to game mistakes, and I tend to overlook a lot of the major things wrong with the games, but there are so many things wrong with this game that it would take months to list them all out.

I’ve been the victim of so many bugs that I just can’t take Guild Wars 2 seriously anymore. The bugs I listed weren’t even 30% of the bugs I’ve experienced in my 3,000 hours of gameplay. So, I’m done. Done with Anet, done with NCSoft, done with Guild Wars 2. You can take my share of the bugs, I’ll happily give them to you, and so will Anet. Have fun destroying the game I actually care about, Vayne.

Guild Wars 2 endgame

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Have you even played WoW before? From your post, it makes me think you haven’t. Just because one piece of endgame is popular, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other options to choose from when selecting end-game activities. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like being funneled into specific areas and being forced to complete new content that I despise once I hit max level. Go research a few end-game WoW activities and then go research Guild Wars 2 end-game activities. Compare the two. Then come back and praise me for the genius I am.

Check your your narcissism at the door, “genius”.

Yes. I have played WoW. I started playing just before the release of Burning Crusade (I actually remember when weather became a thing, watching Goldshire freak out about rain was a kick), and stopped just weeks before the release of Cataclysm.

You want “research” comparing WoW’s endgame and Guild Wars 2? Here’s WoW in a nutshell.

1. Roll toon.
2. Level up, skipping all dungeons and raids between level 1 and whatever the current max is, and then proceed to skip all raids that are not part of the current “endgame” meta.
3. Get geared through heroic dungeons or similar mechanisms as fast as possible.
4. Start raiding in whatever raid is considered “endgame” at the time.
5. Do said “endgame” raid over and over and over again.
6. Get geared.
7. Wait for the next raid to release.
8. Repeat steps 4 through 7.

You can’t imagine how heartbroken I was leveling my first toon in WoW. Never finding a group for all of those awesome vanilla raids, having to wait nearly an hour for any non-WotLK dungeon as a DPS, and then reaching the “finish line” only to find nearly the entire server hanging out in Dalaran in between bouts of banging their head against the ICC wall over and over. That sucked. So yeah, to see how sitting here prattling about “options” is hilarious after experiencing first-hand how many “options” there are.

What about Guild Wars 2? Well, no list there; it’s about options at that point. Whatever suits your fancy. See, unlike WoW, there is no endgame; there is only a game. No part of the game suddenly becomes irrelevant at level 80. As a result, no zone is as barren as The Barrens. All of the dungeons in the game have a bunch of players looking to do them. WvW is packed. Even sPvP, despite how little attention it’s gotten, is more viable than any non-“meta” offering in any other MMORPG.

Guild Wars 2 as a game > WoW’s “endgame”.

Let’s agree to disagree. I can’t get a party for Arah anymore, because nobody wants to freaking do that dungeon and a lot of times, I can’t get a party for other dungeons either. I can walk around in several maps for hours and see nobody. sPvP is complete and utter garbage to the point where I nearly hate it. My experience in WoW is obviously different from yours, even though I don’t understand how, and my experience in GW2 is again, obviously different. I would rather play Call of Duty with 10 year olds every day for a month than play another patch like the ones that Anet has been dishing out.

Evolution of Guild Wars 2 in The First Year

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

There is no evolution of Guild Wars 2. Nothing useful has been done to the game, and barely anything was changed for the better. GW2 hasn’t come far, it hasn’t gone anywhere at all actually. And yes, I love how Anet addressed a ton of bugs in the beginning of the game – oh wait. Aren’t there still bugs left over from beta? Please save your “congratulations” for when Anet truly does something that improves the game.

And yup, still no end-game. Every single mmorpg should have end-game, because it’s what keeps you playing. The living story sure as hell doesn’t keep me playing. Add some end-game and then you might be able to call this an mmorpg.

Yep, another self-serving statement. Anet has done nothing. The game is the same.

Well fractals weren’t nothing, new PvP maps weren’t nothing, quality of life issues like AoE looting, the wallet, market place preview and more, weren’t nothing, and that’s completely leaving out how many bugs have actually been fixed. You’re obviously not keeping track.

There have been new jumping puzzles, new dynamic events (the skritt burglar wasn’t hear at launch if you recall) new mini games, new armor and weapon skins…it may not be content you like but to say the game is unchanged is simply incorrect.

Notice that I said nothing “useful” changed? Oh my goodness! New mini-games? Oh! Let me go get my 5 year old so he can play that. New armor and weapon skins? Oh! What was the point of putting those in again? Fractals might as well not be there anymore, the PvP maps were junk, and so few bugs have actually been fixed that I can’t tell the difference. I’m still getting no sound when I log in right away for about 5 minutes, and that bug has been there since beta.

The jumping puzzles were actually pretty fun, I enjoyed those, but every single other addition wasn’t wanted or needed.

The game pretty much is the same. You didn’t name a single major change in that entire paragraph. You apparently think I dislike and even hate GW2, but I want to see it thrive because I enjoyed a lot about the game. Anet, however, seems determined to throw it into a grave by keeping it the same when countless amazing suggestions have been made that would improve the game, yet nothing is being done.

Guild Wars 2 endgame

Galtrix.7369

WoW had good endgame because there were countless activities that you could choose from and do at any time you wanted.

This made me LOL quite a bit, considering WoW is the primary example of what I used to describe “endgame” in that blog post.

From September 2009 to December 2009, you were only doing one thing: Onyxia’s Lair. From February 2010 to June 2010, you were doing one thing: Icecrown Citadel. From June 2010 to Cataclysm, you were doing one thing: Ruby Sanctum.

At any given point in WoW in the past five or so years, only one piece of content has been “endgame” relevant at any given time; the vast majority of the playerbase is, at any given point, focusing on a single sliver of content in what is otherwise an extremely expansive game. If you really think that, in 2013, you still have droves of people lining up to do Molten Core, Black Temple, or have more than three or four people questing anywhere that isn’t Pandaria, you’re deluding yourself.

Have you even played WoW before? From your post, it makes me think you haven’t. Just because one piece of endgame is popular, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other options to choose from when selecting end-game activities. As long as RNG boxes are sold in the gemstore, Guild Wars 2 will survive. In all honesty though, I’m beginning to doubt that Anet will actually implement a meaningful patch in the future. I’m getting tired of these bore-fests every two weeks. That being said, the game hasn’t changed much at all since beta, and for a game that boasts “World Changing Events”, that’s sure sad. I don’t feel like the world has been changed at all. I feel like there’s the main state of the game in which nothing of importance ever happens, and then on patch days something of no importance happens, and then it goes back to the main state of the boring game. Even WoW had more world-changing events in it when a dragon landed in a field and put fissures in the ground forever. I’ll continue to wait for better content, but I won’t hold my breath.

Guild Wars 2 endgame

Galtrix.7369

First off, I’m sick of that word. The concept of an “endgame” is stupid.

More importantly: You’ve stated what you don’t like. That’s fair. So where are the suggestions? Simply saying “revamp the content and make the game zergless” is terribly vague.

Sorry, but your definition of end-game is so wrong it almost made me cry. Endgame definition: The late or final stages of any activity or game. This does not imply that you are forced to repeat the same dungeon/raid/event multiple times to achieve what you believe is “endgame”. Endgame is nothing more than activities that you complete or pursue after you reach max level, and they’re activities that make you feel accomplished. WoW had good endgame because there were countless activities that you could choose from and do at any time you wanted.

And Anet dug themselves into a hole with this zerging anyway. In PvE, increase the condition damage on any and all bosses. Also spread out their aoe attacks so it reaches everywhere at 360 degrees so there isn’t a safe spot to stand. It’s like Anet developed this game with the intent that players would only zerg. Seriously, there’s a safe spot with every boss in the game. The point is probably that Anet has screwed themselves over so hard, that I don’t think it’s possible to get rid of zerging entirely unless they reinvent the entire game, which isn’t likely to happen.

If GW2 really does aim towards Casuals

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

I’ll say this again. Being casual or hardcore depends on the amount of time you spend in the game, not the difficulty of the content. A casual player can still do difficult content, and a hardcore player can still do easy content.

Once Anet makes a dungeon, (preferably with 10-20 man parties), and if it took about an hour or 2 to complete, then and only then could GW2 say that they have hardcore content. All Anet needs to do is create long content and give proper rewards at the end for the time required to do that content and it will please people.

Not true sorry being hardcore is both through playing a game you get better and you can can complete difficult content most causal players are terrible and i’ve experienced this with my 10+ of playing mmos.

Casual is a term used to define a certain group of players that don’t play so much. Below x hours. It is NOT based on skill.

Your perfect explanation right there ^. Thanks Direk.

^This!^ omg I never really think about that until I’m wanting to buy new armor. Sifting past all the Heavy/Light sets with the same stats is just a pure annoyance.

There are only two reasons I can think of that they haven’t done this glaringly obvious step:
1) They profit too much from accidental purchases
2) They aren’t smart enough to do it

With what I’ve seen this past year, I’m betting on #1

Both 1 and 2 are true. How else could you explain waypoints? Anet creates an amazing, beautiful world and then creates a skip button for it. The skip button being the waypoints. It can only mean that they don’t think things through.

What? There’s a story in Guild Wars 2? Where?

In all seriousness though, I don’t even feel like there’s any lore in GW2 anymore. A game that was supposed to be lore-heavy and follow in the footsteps of GW1 turned out to be a collection of mini-games and mini-content updates that take me half an hour to do.

Anet has already said they would focus more on permanent content. Half the content released in the past year will come back each year (mostly the festivals).

So they’re bringing back old content and calling it new? Awesome. I want actual new content for once and not the same recycled content that I’ve gotten every month since launch.

People don’t like Guild Wars 2. They like the mini-games, activities, and two-week content that comes along with it.

Then they like Guild Wars 2…

Oh, so that’s all Guild Wars 2 is then? Mini-games, activities, and two-week content? That’s pretty poor content for a game that calls itself an mmorpg. If they like a miniscule part of the game, that does not mean they like Guild Wars 2. I like the guns in Black Ops 2, does that mean I like it? Heck no.

I’m noticing a pattern here. The numbers of players were dwindling on my server to the point that there were only a handful of people in the world at one time. The only time players were excited was when new content was released, and it wasn’t getting released fast enough. That’s when Anet implemented the two-week content and I saw a surge in numbers for the first few days that the new patch came. Then a few days later, I’m back to seeing the same 10 people. Here comes the patch! Oh, surge in numbers again! Then the same 10 people.

Is it safe to assume that people are only playing Guild Wars 2 for the Living Story now? Even the Living Story is lackluster, and I know it’s bad when I don’t even want to log in to see the new patches. I haven’t seen the last 3 content patches because they didn’t interest me in the least. That’s sad because I try my hardest to stick with games that have boring content, and I stick around long after my friends or family leave, yet even I am starting to feel the wall of boringness that’s being pushed against me every two weeks.

People don’t like Guild Wars 2. They like the mini-games, activities, and two-week content that comes along with it. The leveling experience in Guild Wars 2 was fantastic, but once you hit 80, it’s all downhill from there.

They might as well just have not implemented the scaling system. It doesn’t do any good and is taking up Anet’s valuable time when they could be producing meaningful content for once.

People play this game for shiny "things"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

I honestly don’t understand why people play this game every single day. Since there is no gear progression, there is pretty much no point in getting gear to dress up in, unless you wanna play barbie dress up. Since there are no real goals, I have no idea what people actually do anymore besides the two week content.

I mean, I understand why people play this game every once in awhile for fun, but playing it every single day or even twice a week gets boring. But for the players who play every single day, they earn the money and work hard just to dress up their characters and then…. nothing, because there are no more goals for them.

TL:dr – Players play every day to earn money to dress up like a pretty princess and then they quit.

The Reason to play

in Living World

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

This post is short and sweet. Living story is attempting to compel people who feel the NEED to play by creating all these achievement and weapon skin filled festivals, instead of creating content that makes players WANT to play.

As soon as people say “wait why am I playing this again?” the entire thing will collapse for them and they will likely not be interested in playing as much, if at all.

Exactly. I was doing the Living Story content for awhile until I started questioning why I was still doing this stuff when I wasn’t having any fun. 2 minutes later I decided to take a break. A very long break.

Gemstore or Subscription

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

No offense to anyone here, but if Anet made the subscription fee one dollar a month, I still wouldn’t pay for it. Heck, I even regret spending 30 bucks on this game already. No, Guild Wars 1 shows you that you don’t necessarily have to have a ton of items in the gemstore to bring in income. GW1 had about 3 costumes and a few extra items, and it thrived for many, many years even being constantly updated and changed. The base box price should bring in enough income for Anet to happily produce content for years already, they don’t need the gemstore or a subscription fee. Sure, why wouldn’t Anet want a gemstore? It’s more money for them, but they don’t need it to keep the game running. It’s just like extra pocket change. It’s nice to have, but you don’t need it.

Guild Wars 1? Really? LMAO!

Guild Wars 1 shows you that in a NON MMO (which is much cheaper to run than an MMO), with a staff of 50 people, in a game made 8 years ago, you can get by without strong depency on a cash shop. That’s ALL Guild Wars 1 shows you. Period.

If Guild Wars 1 were a true MMO, if they needed servers that had a couple of hundred people all moving and fighting at the same time, a staff of over 300, bigger headquarters, and more overhead in general, coming out today instead of 8 years ago….

Guild Wars 1 would never have been sustainable in today’s environment.

It did great when it had like only MMOs to compete with, all of which had subscriptions. In today’s environment… not so much.

There’s no way you can compare this game and that game, unless you throw away all the facts surrounding issue.

“Guild Wars” 1. “Guild Wars” 2. Hmmm, something fishy here if I can’t compare the games. Again, you misunderstand me and you missed my other point entirely apparently. I said that the base box price of 60 dollars should be enough for GW2 to thrive for awhile. Anet really does not need the gemstore at all, like I said, it’s just pocket change to them. Of course, GW2 will start to decline as all mmo’s eventually do, and when that happens, then and only then will they start using that extra pocket change to keep the game going. I won’t pretend that I know how much income Anet received from the boxes, but I know that it will sustain the game for quite awhile, and if people really are still buying GW2, then Anet is bringing in even more profit.

And as to your point, Guild Wars 1 is still alive and probably will be for awhile yet. It’s still sustaining itself (I believe. They may be using money from GW2 to support it).

And yet back in GW1 people whined about some lucky few got 100p minis whilst other got 50g ones.

People have complained about RNG since release, and now when ArenaNet decides to not have RNG people complain about the lack of RNG.
Which way is it?

Umm, no. It’s pretty obvious that Anet doesn’t think through anything they do or plan to do in GW2. Take waypoints for instance. They create a magnificent, absolutely beautiful world and then make a skip button so you don’t get to see it. (The skip button being waypoints). They implemented greater champion rewards only to find that players zerg 24/7 and ruin new player’s expectations of what this game will be. They also created more RNG when players said, “Heck no, get rid of it now”, and a lot of people I know left the game because they kept on implementing rng.

It’s simple. Anet just does not think about the repercussions of their actions. I agree, the reward should’ve been better so that veteran players and new players alike could use them appropriately. The answer will amaze you. Make all the rewards equal, but make them so they’re useful to every single player in the game. It’s not that hard, but it gets screwed up almost every single patch and I have no clue why.

GW2 - What happened?

I think that’s what the op is trying to get at here. Since they’re bringing back SAB, future content will be similar to it. At least, that’s what I think his point is.

My point is simliar to that, but I don’t know how to describe the content. It’s not necessarily childish, though the “Back to School” tagline certainly made it suddenly like watching a TV commercial for clothes at JC Penny. It’s just that they don’t seem to care about the integrity of their world anymore. If it’s fun, it goes in. If they find a way to put in a little Forza racing? In it goes. Goofy FPS mode? Why not. It’s fun!

The game has no soul. It’s a collection of fun activities, like a Six Flags. It’s a fantasy/sci-fi themed activity box.

Oh, I see. I completely agree with you. There are no significant goals to accomplish, and there is no feeling of actual progression when you complete quests and complete your main storyline. This game completely lacks a feeling of actual accomplishment, but replaces it with just more “fun activities”. It gets a little repetitive and extremely boring after awhile. All we can do is wait it out and see if Anet takes this game in the right direction though.

Too bad, you must go to the nearest “Living Story Event” to actually see people play the game. Oh, or you could go to LA and watch people sit there and be afk. You actually did buy a single-player game like I did. For an mmo that boasts teamwork and avid communication, GW2 sure lacks both of those things.

There was even a petition thread to make it permanent.

Yeah. I read around the forums here and on the internet. I saw almost nothing but praise. This means there is something about me that is abnormal compared to the majority. Maybe I just grew old when I wasn’t looking. I don’t know how to explain the vast difference in what I’m looking for and what is popular here. Perhaps MMOs, as my primary game type, are not for me any more and I’ll have to content myself with single player RPGs until this phase of the industry passes.

Just a suggestion here, I see that you’re a lot like me in the fact that you like more serious, earth-shattering content with minimal childishness on the side. I don’t know if you’ve tried WoW, but I enjoyed it for a very long time. The only childish aspects of the game were the festivals or the carnivals that you barely noticed appear, and I definitely didn’t consider those childish in the least because they were complex and gave you just enough fun without the boring content. You’re on your way to do a quest, see a carnival, go enjoy it for 5 minutes, and then you’re on your way to do your quest again. It’s generally just a more serious mmorpg and they make it feel fun and you’ll definitely enjoy it.

Yeah, I retired my 80 Thief because, just like you, I didn’t find a play style that I liked or enjoyed. I transferred all of his money and anything useful over to my Elementalist. I honestly don’t feel attached to a single character that I own, so it wasn’t too difficult to just say, “Well, all done with this character. Bye bye”.

That’s actually pretty funny. I was telling someone earlier that this game turned out like Adventure Time on cartoon network instead of the “Lord of the Rings” I was hoping it would be.

And Vayne, the SAB is childish, and Anet confirmed that with the tag “Back to School”. SAB is an example for how the rest of the game will most likely turn out. Because people loved SAB, Anet will base future content on that and will produce more “childish” content to please the crowds. I think that’s what the op is trying to get at here. Since they’re bringing back SAB, future content will be similar to it. At least, that’s what I think his point is.

I sort of agree. Personally, I enjoyed SAB for awhile and thought it was a cute way to spend my time in the game. But to bring it back for a second time shows who the real population of GW2 is and who the content is aimed at. Children. Instead of bringing old content back that I wouldn’t like to do a second time, they could’ve produced more serious, save-the-world content

Your Dream Patch

10) Add my version of events. “World Events”. These events will change the world of Tyria repeatedly unless stopped in its tracks by the players of GW2. Example: An ancient undead sorcerer summons an army of the dead to attack Divinity’s Reach. Players must spread the word quickly and rush to their aid to defeat the undead, and ultimately, confront the seemingly omnipotent sorcerer and gain the treasures he hides within his castle that he created instantly in Divinity’s Reach. If nothing is done, Divinity’s Reach will be destroyed for a period of one week, and the undead will continue their conquest by expanding their forces through many different maps. If you allow villages and entire cities to be destroyed, banks, merchants, and any npcs will flee from the city, leaving it completely desolate of all living creatures. Yes, you heard correctly. The undead will inhabit the land until you wipe them from the face of the earth.

That is what Everquest Next vows to make happen. Kind of eager to see how it will turn out. I agree to an extent. I want to be that person who allies himself with the undead, being the hero is too cliché and bland and colourful for me so I want to eradicate! That would make for a great PvE path actually, you could act as an mercenary to assassinate task appointers for a profit or act as an agent for your certain faction and start sabotaging things in an area to advance your faction’s control over the land. It’s like the more you do for your faction their main headquarters will look more powerful, have more persons of interest and a stronger guard body with a leader, a legit faction leader that works with their players, though granted random villages will have to have updated npcs that could hold their own. I so hope the devs are reading this but even if they were this is just wishful thinking at this point. #TeamWhiteMantle.

Oh yeah, I understand where you’re coming from. I was the bad guy in SWTOR and I had a ton of fun with that. It’s really fun having complete control over your actions so you can decide to be bad, good, or neutral in a certain situation. GW2 lacks so much in this aspect.

What the heck is even going on now?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

This isn’t a troll post. Not at all. I’m simply voicing my opinion on what the game is and what it used to be.

I completed almost all of Frost and Flame. Enjoyed it, even. I was saddened when I remembered that the only thing I missed was the ceremony at the very end. I thought “You know, that was a very unique thing that they just did, and I enjoyed it. I hope they do more of these from time to time.”

Instead, there were several, one right after another. Instead of seeing a bunch of unique stories, I saw busy work. I now had a Guild Wars 2 honey-do list. I saw so much new stuff dropping in the wrong places and at the wrong frequency. There is so much new stuff that comes and goes, yet it feels like the old stuff isn’t touched any more. I was hoping that by the time I could get back into the game, I’d see things like more fractals or an updated Super Adventure Box.

The main point I’m trying to get at is this: After being busy with real life for a few months, I come back to GW2 and am lost, confused, and heartbroken about what the game has become.

And yet your post sounds like you’re overwhelmed
1. You’re confused by quality of life updates (UI change)
2. You don’t like seeing people (I’m quite puzzled by that though)
3. Even though you were here when living story started to kick in you’re complaining about it now. It was designed to get players that log in every day something to do, while players playing every few months would still not fall behind, because the events don’t give any advantage to players that have done them.

And before making a post do read up on the website –
More fractals (3 of them) are coming at the end of the year
SAB is the next living story. You have about a week to wait at this point.

Well, I hate seeing people. They just stand there smirking at me in LA while I walk by and they do nothing useful. Heck, they might as well be my enemies because all they do is bring my fps down to 2. I can hardly walk anywhere anymore without upgrading my computer. I used to be able to play pretty well until about a month ago.
