They aren’t trying to exclude IE, it just doesn’t support the technology (WebGL) yet and won’t until IE11.
IE doesn’t currently support WebGL. IE11 will however.
Hovering your cursor over the desired achievement on the tracker on the side of the screen will display the total amount required.
It really should have required only 50 though.
1. Get Firefox or Chrome
2. Verify you’re capable of supporting WebGL: http://get.webgl.org/
3. Go to https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/rampage/index.html
It should show that it’s loading, then display the title screen. Press X to start.
Currently, you can browse, place bids and buy while outside of the game, using 3rd party tools. To actually pickup or sell items however, you need access to your character, so it must be done in-game. Using a small program to basically remote desktop into your inventory, you could fully play the TP from any location, but the game would have to be running on your main computer.
And yes, people do fully bot the TP to automatically buy and sell items.
The only point would be to have a reward unlock system where you either spend points like a currency, or unlock rewards based on your total points. They were/are supposed to be adding a system like this.
As a ranking system however, there’s no point.
Officially, you’re not allowed to monetize. However, they won’t actively go out and issue take down requests if you choose to do so.

The error console doesn’t reset between pages, so what you showed could possibly be old. All the CSS warnings for example are from a Facebook plugin.
Offline cache manifest item failed to load, URL=https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/rampage/images%5Chillroof.png
Offline cache update error, URL=https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/rampage/offline.appcache
The problem with this is that Chillroof.png isn’t in the manifest, so I’m thinking you managed to access and cache the page when it had an error in the manifest.
To clear the cache, under the Tools menu, or under History if using the Firefox button, select Clear Recent History. Choose everything for the range and check cache and offline website data, then click Clear Now. Alternatively, open a Private Window by selecting New Private Window under the File menu or the Firefox button. Private Windows don’t use the cache, so it’s basically the same thing.
Then try it: https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/rampage/index.html
If that doesn’t work, open the error console, clear it and then try:
If you’re using an older version of Firefox, you need to update: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox
If that’s not your problem, to see what errors may be causing the problem, open the Error Console under Tools/Web Developer.

So uh. Question to any devs/admins looking at this thread? Will there ever be a downloadable version of Critter Rampage? c: Or will it just be available forever?
Once you load the game, it is fully offline. All you really need to do is copy those files, and you can forever have that copy.
Any chance of re-binding the move and action keys to be something sensible? I’d love W-A-S-D (movement), Shift-/ for jump-attack

Download the modified version and change them yourself. By default, I set it to WASD, Shift to attack and Space to jump.
Or play it directly ~

It’s better to do them and get the laurel, then to not and one day want something. There’s no way to play catch up when the reward is limited by time. They’ll probably add stuff costing more than 100 laurels and the next batch of ascended armor or weapons will probably be added within the next few months as probably cost 50-100.
Since they don’t refund player made errors, no. You’ll have to use it on an alt.

It’s entirely possible for there to be a point where loot appears to be better than normal based only on time. It’s not DR, it’s how they generate random values. Since true random numbers can’t be generated, they rely on different methods to generate a number. Depending on the algorithm used, you theoretically could be able to predict the result, since at that exact moment, it would always have the same value.
How loot is determined also becomes a factor depending on if it’s generated the moment it’s rewarded, or if it’s predetermined. For example, some games don’t actually reward random loot. They generate loot tables then reward you based on what’s in the table, by either picking something randomly or in sequence. In this scenario, it’s possible that only X amount of people can gain a specific item before the table is reset.
The specifics on how loot is randomized is usually never explained. The only thing guaranteed is that it’s not truly random.
The molten pick is featured as a mining pick with the same efficiency as an orichalcum pick, and like it, they both share the same tooltip – used to mine all metals. I can only assume how they programmed tools, whether they’re flagged to be able to gather specific nodes or if they’re based on levels, but chances are, if the pick was to be upgraded, they would have to intentionally go back and do so.
Since they’ve pretty much confirmed that there will be new tiers of gear, whether it be a rarity above or in between ascended, or level 81 items, the odds of seeing new gathering nodes is highly likely as long as they want to continue with allowing people to craft gear without requiring group content or large requirements. With the release of ascended gear, they did after all say that it was normally something they would only do in an expansion, so this isn’t GW1 with eternally static gear.
If they want to continue crafting, there’ll have to be something new eventually. However, what they choose to change could go in any direction. For example, they could just multiple the requirements, requiring something like 200 orichalcum bars and 200 powerful blood, or they could make infused ore, such as combining some drop with orichalcum. Since they probably wouldn’t want people to obtain the new items instantly however, chances are, some type of new item would be required, whether it be a drop off a mob or a new type of gathering node.
When imagining future lands, I wouldn’t exactly expect to only see the same old mithril and orichalcum in places such as the deep sea or ring of fire. However, they could simply add the tier in between the existing ones, in the same way they added passion fruit to southsun cove.
Regardless of the future possibilities, chances are the pick will come back again, but with a different skin. They’ll probably release an infinite use sickle and axe before then, so it probably won’t return for around 2 years or more. If it was a money making idea, especially one of Nexon’s, chances are it won’t upgrade because they’ll want you to buy another one next expansion. If they did intend for it to last forever however, they would probably be featuring it as such, since it would sell even more. I highly doubt it won’t make a return at all though, since the profit from it is probably a lot.
If it was forever limitless, if you only wanted one save gold, chances are, you’ll never recover the cost, especially if you currently use karma to buy tools. The pick is only a convenience item and for collector’s to show off in a few years, when new people won’t know what it is.
Without an actual confirmation, or a glimpse ~6 months into the future to see what direction they take, whether it will upgrade or not can easily swing either way.
I’ll be surprised if there ARE new tiers of metal. I’d much rather they produced new 1-80 campaigns than bump the level cap.
No
Yes
They’ve already confirmed that they won’t be going with the campaign approach and will rather be doing more traditional expansions, similar to EotN.
A level cap increase won’t happen for about a year or two, depending on what they do with the living story.
There’ll be around a 6 month notice if it will be increased, since you’ll hear about an expansion coming. Then they’ll officially announce the expansion along with if the level cap will increase. If it’s not, it won’t be until the next expansion, roughly 1.5 years later.
In some of the promotional material we see a Norn warrior holding what for sure looks like a massive, 2 handed axe. Why isn’t this in the game?
Reserved for an expansion – was hinted as a possibility during the betas.
If we could get a statement, one way or another, as to wether or not this will ALWAYS work on any mining node it would be great.
Hmm, unless i’m missing something, they haven’t said anything about a higher type of materials ever being introduced. So the worry that something is always going to work seems a bit misplaced.
Since they’ve talked about one day increasing the level cap, the odds of getting higher level nodes is more likely than not. Regardless of the level cap, I would imagine harder zones, such as the ring of fire, would have something above orichalcum level. They could even decide that ascended gear should be craftable and add special nodes requiring “ascended” tools.
If the pick was intended to be usable forever, they would probably be advertising it as such, since it would sell more. By leaving it unclear, those that hope it will last forever will buy it, whereas if they directly said it wouldn’t, some of those people would no longer want it.
Anyone know how long “a limited time” is? Has Arenanet done something “available for a limited time” in the past that can be used as a measure of how long the item might be on the market?
A week at the least. If it was any less, they would probably be showing the counter on the item.
Since it’s flame and frost themed, it’ll probably last at least until April 30th when the next event occurs. It may even last up until the end of that event, which would mean somewhere near the end of May.
Level 60 master pick = orichalcum pick = molten pick.
Don’t judge the future possibilities of an item based on its tooltip, since the orichalcum pick also states that it can be “used to mine all metals” and therefore, it should also last forever.
The molten pick may be useful for a year, but I doubt it’ll last forever. They would eventually want you to buy another one after all. Plus, if it was intended to last forever, they probably wouldn’t have gone with masterwork.
The pick is more of a collector’s item than something you would buy to get value out of. Eventually, new, higher level nodes will be added, so it’s only a matter of time before the pick becomes obsolete, assuming you stick to current content.
1. Getting attacked / entering combat while gathering will sometimes result in ruined gathers.
2. Equipping any gathering tool while actively gathering, that doesn’t meet the requirement of the node will result in only ruined gathers. For example, if you begin mining mithril, then equip a copper sickle, your active tool becomes that sickle, resulting in ruined ore.
6 months to a year from now, there’ll most likely be “orichalcum+1” level nodes, so unless you’re too lazy to restock on picks, it’s not really worth it.
As a bonus however, like all gathering tools, you can exploit the pick to also be an infinite use axe and sickle.
This event seems to be balanced around having all the NPCs alive. If you manage to start the event with all the NPCs alive, the catapults will never be built because the enemies will be killed as they run in, and it becomes just a matter of dealing with the veteran abominations, which are the only real threat to the NPCs.
To complete the event, all you need to do is keep the engineers alive to fully rebuild the camp. The more engineers alive, the faster it’s built. Furthermore, the buildings that are built can be destroyed by the surrounding enemies. Once a building is destroyed, it has to be rebuilt.
Due to the rate at which the enemies respawn, there is no point in killing them when trying to solo the event. The respawn rate seem to be bugged though, since I have killed them all before and they didn’t respawn for a few minutes, but usually, they’re back in less than 10 seconds. You need to rez each NPC to 99%, making sure to not fully revive them. When you’re ready, you begin rezzing the last 1% on all of them, starting with the guards, because you don’t want the engineers to grab agro first. Your only job now is to keep the mobs away from the engineers and to stop any mobs attacking the buildings for as long as possible until the camp is built. If all the engineers die, chances are you will fail and have to start all over again, since the enemies will destroy what was built before you can manage to recover.
If you have someone else with you, the same technique can be used, but one player decoys all the mobs prior to fully rezzing the NPCs. There is a spot in back where you can jump to a rock which will cause all the enemies to stand there unless they agro onto something else.
you sure that’s not the artist’s signature? or am i missing it?
Right under the jaw in the fire it says “The Essex …” which is a remnant from the original image. This image was released before beta, so it sparked a lot of theories to what it meant.
Using and painting over real images is a technique digital artists use, so it’s not surprising to find something like this. They do browse through stuff like google images to find pictures that fit and sometimes get in trouble for using them without permission. Some artists are so lazy they’ll even take an image and just slap their name on it and call it their own, hoping that nobody will find out, since they stole it from somebody that isn’t well known.
Another example of using real images is in the concept art for the Hounds of Balthazar, where they used images of camping fires to create the flame effects. The watermark of the original image can still be seen under the jaw of the hound on the right.
I have no intention of making one, but stocked up anyways. Yes, it’s the most efficient way to get these items.
Running W1 Z1-2 takes about 5m 40s (42 per hour), while running Z1-3 takes about 10m (36 per hour), if you’re good at speed running them. Add another 2 minutes for time to start and possible errors and your gains should be 30 baubles an hour.
If you choose to create new characters to farm baubles, running Z1-3 becomes slightly more efficient. From character select to the end takes about 15m, resulting in 24 baubles an hour.
It would be a limitation with the engine. What they’re capable of doing is limited to the features made available to them. In this case, the run speed is probably directly tied to being in combat, which occurs when you take damage or attack. To work around that, they would have either had to change how combat works, which would require a modification to the core system, or do what they did and go with a workaround. The workaround is the easier method, but the more they do it, the messier it gets, until it eventually gets so bad that a change to the engine becomes required.
Restrictions like that are common, since the feature you now want wasn’t originally expected when the system was designed, or it was, but it wasn’t important enough to justify. If everything was always designed to be 100% flexible, nothing would ever get finished on time.
An alternative workaround they could have gone with would be to keep you in combat the entire time. A debuff for example will keep you in combat for its entire duration. They could have applied a debuff on entry that’s removed on exit to keep you in constant combat, and then modified the movement speed.
You can also invite people to a guild when they’re offline, allowing you to see other information such as what server they’re on. (the friends list only shows what zone they’re in)
The Temple of Grenth, for the encounter.
The names of players or guilds you’ve joined?
The names of players are sorted based on what column you have sorted. By default, it’s sorted by who is online.
The guilds you’ve joined seem to be sorted based on the date the guild was created (probably by ID).
They want to add the ability to allow a player to fully inspect another player (gear, traits, skills and real time skill usage) in SPvP, so that spectators can see.
If they’re going to go the eSport route, like leaderboards, they’ll probably create a site similar to an armory, and also show stats like wins/losses, kills/deaths, captures, supports, recent games, games played, etc. I’d expect it to only be for PvP though, however, since the core of an armory for PvP vs PvE would be nearly identical, PvE would probably also be included.
Daily healer is still available. Dailies are randomly chosen from a pool, so instead of having daily healer every day, it’s more like once a week. It was recently available as one of the dailies a few days ago.
The SAB is listed on http://guildwars2.com as being available from April 1st to 30th.
World 2 has not been built yet, and won’t be started for another little while. But not a long while.
World 2 won’t be available within the next month
Not this month. At an unspecified time. Certainly not in the next month.
… and may return before next April.
I certainly hope so. All signs currently point to yes. But of course, no promises.
It may be possible that there both is and isn’t a cap at 100. For example, if it’s a simple check to only reward laurels if you have less than 100, then the monthly could bypass it, allowing you to gain 99+10 laurels maximum.
To confirm a cap or not, someone with 100+ laurels would have to complete a daily.
Laurels were implemented as a time gate, so it wouldn’t be unexpected to have a cap on them. Imagine if laurels existed from the start. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have wanted people to instantly buy ascended amulets the second they were released, since the entire point was to lengthen play time.
Without a cap, the currency either becomes useless or inflated to compensate. For example, in an expansion, karma may not be used at all (not for anything useful) or alternatively, the cost and reward of karma may be multiplied to a point where it’s the difference between a DE on a level 1 and a level 80.
You can carry as many as you can possibly hold. You just can’t gain any more once you’re past the limit while in the SAB.
It’s a scam. You can determine this by looking at where the link actually goes instead of looking at the text displayed.
They must not want people saving up to instantly buy anything new they add.
If you’ve never spent a laurel and got the 2 free ones at the start when they changed the dailies, today would be laurel #102. Add another 10 if you got the free ones from the PvP monthly last month.
They want you to feel the need to login. Doing so means more people are playing every day, keeping the game active.
Downscaling makes it more realistic. Your character isn’t gaining levels to become super strong, your character is becoming more skillful.
At one point, GW2 supposedly didn’t have levels. The problem without having them though is that you don’t feel you’re progressing and you can’t get a sense of where you’re supposed to be. If it’s your first time, you can’t tell if the game is just naturally hard or if you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be. Of course, you could explore to figure it out, but many people probably wouldn’t and instead call the game too difficult and simply quit. On the progression side, some people simply play to level. Having no levels would mean they’re already done.
Having no levels is ok if done right, but GW2 doesn’t feature full action combat with every mob being properly telegraphed.
Your options:
1. Do nothing and keep everything the way it currently is.
2. Request a rollback. This can only be done once during the lifetime of an account. If possible, everything will be returned back to the way it was before you were hacked. This also means you’ll lose everything that was gained.
Also, you should really have email verification – you wouldn’t have been hacked if you did. If you did have it enabled, you might want to change your email password, since it and everything in their would be compromised.
Allowing an account to be in multiple guilds in much better than forcing every single one of your characters to be in a single guild. It’s still terrible compared to a character based guild system, which allows for more freedom.
For example, I usually run with a main guild but play a specific alt with specific friends. On that alt, I don’t want to be bothered by the main guild – pretend I’m not even online and it doesn’t exist. GW1 didn’t give you that option. GW2 does, but to be hidden, you have to deal with the side effect of not seeing guild chat, making the guild pointless.
The only bonuses an account based multi guild system has over a character based one is that you can invite your own alts and easily access the guild without having to change characters.
Not within the next month. By the sounds of it, the SAB will come and go every so often – maybe every 4-6 months. If not, that would mean world 2 won’t be for another year.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/sab/what-to-do-after-rapids
Or… they could just make the chest not a daily so that I could continue running it on the same character so that I could continue trying to reduce my run time to under 9 minutes to kill King Toad. (It would kind of suck though, since just farming zone 1 would be the most efficient. To fix that, each zone should give baubles equal to how deep you are, for example, 1 for doing z1, 2 or 3, 3 (1 + 2) for doing z1-2, 6 (1 + 2 + 3) for doing z1-3)
Also, it takes roughly 15 minutes (11 for the run, 4 for getting to the box), starting from the character select screen, to create a character, get to the box and run zone 1 to 3, gaining 6 baubles.

The leaderboards were originally designed to add competition to PvP, so they didn’t waste anything by making them.
For PvE, an achievement based leaderboard was simply the easiest to throw in since the counter was already there. Eventually, there’ll probably be more, like how they had challenge mission leaderboards in GW1.
For actually ranking achievements though, the system doesn’t make sense. For example, why is 5 dailies worth more than the hardest achievements in the game? Because of that, the #1 person won’t be who has all the achievements but who has 100%‘d (not just the minimum) all the dailies and monthlies because eventually, that’ll be all that matters. Without them however, eventually it’ll come to a point where hundreds of people are tied for #1, and it’ll never change.
Flame and Frost is a story taking place in real time, giving the illusion of a living world.
In the average MMO, these stories would be delivered as a series of quests which could be completed as fast as you could do them. Unlike normal quests however, in the living story, you have to wait for the NPCs to play out their roles. For example, in a normal quest, if the quest tells you to go do something while the NPC does something else, that NPC will already be done and waiting for you to finish. In a living story however, you have to wait for an unknown duration for that NPC to do what it needs to do. Of course, in reality however, you’re not actually waiting for it to play out, you’re waiting for the content to be developed and released, at which point that NPCs job has been completed.
Other MMOs have had similar type of content. For example, back in the early days of WoW, the server had to work together to play out a series of quests to open the gates of Ahn’Qiraj, a raid. Real time content is very taxing however, since everyone ends up showing up at the same time, so they tend not to do it. GW2 encountered this problem with their first real time event, the karka invasion. As a result, these real time events have been broken up into segments, giving enough time for everyone to participate while also splitting them up. What they ended up with was a real time event that lasts weeks and takes place over several months rather than taking place over several days and only being accessible at specific times.
For simplicity, just think of the living story as an book, where you’re given a chapter each month.
