GW2 and CPU overheating...

A few nights ago I hit up to 4.7 GHz on my processor and saw my temperature go into the higher 40’s. I know CPUs can handle this and all.. but I never like my processor going that high. That and the heat generated in my bedroom makes it hard to sleep later xD

You think 40C is high?! …for the newer processors.

you must have misread what I wrote. I said that my temperatures go into the higher 40s. Meaning, 45-49c.
And I dislike having my proc even in the 50’s.

That I can understand because you have an AMD processor that like to live in a cooler environment than Intel’s processors. IIRC the maximum temperature AMD recommends is 62C so having a 10-15C barrier is a good idea. At least that is what I do with an Intel processor.

Flatley, what do you mean by “repair”? Deleting it and downloading it again or what?

And Ilithis, I already checked the internal temperature, I also uses external fans to keep it cool, it never goes over 68c.

Thanks for your suggestions for the moment, I’ll try disinstalling completly the drivers before reinstalling the old ones although I doubt it would make any change

Is the 68C for the CPU or the GPU or both?

The Guild Wars 2 client has a -repair switch that you can add to a shortcut of the game to repair the gw2.dat file if any errors are present. I recommend following this wiki page:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
It’s from the first game, but the concept is the same. The switch you want is -repair.

Thanks

Are you sure your avatar hasn’t suddenly turned into a pacifist?

Jokes aside, I know there is an option in the F11 panel somewhere. They recently (as in the last few weeks) changed it so that you can disable right click to interact with things IIRC. Might want to double check that option.

I don’t think many people could play the game well when crashing once a minute. Lets look at the integrity of your hard drive. I would like you to perform a disk check. To do this, go to ‘My Computer’ and right click the hard drive that Guild Wars 2 is on. Click ‘Properties’ and a new window opens. Go to the ‘Tools’ tab and click the ‘Check now…’ button to start the disk check. Follow the guide from there to complete the disk check.

Hey there MrTheBigBadMeIlithis Mithilander illustrates his point very nicely. World of Warcraft, SWTOR are vastly different games and aren’t really the best for comparison. They’re essentially an entirely different “beast.” The FPS that you’re reporting getting sound about right, but you could try tweaking some of your Nvidia Control Panel settings to see if this will give you a slight boost in performance:

1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”
2. Once opened, left-click on “3D settings” and select “Adjust image settings with preview.”
3. Select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider to “Performance.”
4. Select “Use the advanced 3D image settings” and left click on “Take me there.”

This should take you to the “Manage 3D Settings” window. Once here:

5. Change “Power Management mode” to “Prefer maximum performance.”
6. Change “Multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration” to “Single display performance mode.”
7. Change “Vertical Sync” to “Use the 3D application settings.”

Once completed, click “Apply” and start up Guild Wars 2.

Once loaded, access the “Graphic Options” window and make the following changes:

1. Change “Refresh Rate” to “60 Hz.”
2. Change “Frame Limiter” to “60.”
3. Change “Reflections” to “None.”
4. Change “Render Sampling” to “Supersample” then back to “Native.”
5. Enable “Vertical Sync” at the bottom.

Go ahead and give these settings a try. Hope this helps!

If you have spent 1/10 time on optimization/recoding the game instead spamming these useless things on the forums we would be playing the game flawlessly. Game is out for 11months for the love of god.

That usually falls on other people to do. Basically don’t blame the messenger (Ashley) when there are other people who presumably are more qualified to work on the base code. You can also blame management since they make the decisions and priorities.

However, if your ambiguous ‘you’ is directed at ArenaNet as a whole, then fire away! Pew! Pew!

Hello, I have an Alienware M14X, i7 processor, 8 GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650M with 2GB of Video Memory.

I never experienced any particular problem, I used to play with almost everything on high (few things apart) with 18-23 fps in most populated areas (WvW included), until today, I updated my Nvidia drivers and this problem appeared.
My game do works kinda fine, yet there are costant drops in fps which slow down my pg in a terrible way, making me impossibile to take part to any sort of competitve game, be it PvP, WvW, Dungeons or even the new race mini game. This seems to happen even when using the lowest settings.
I also tried to go back to the old drivers but the problem now remains.

Please help me overcome this, it’s really getting me frustrated.

When you said you tried to go back to the old drivers, did you first uninstall the new driver entirely before reverting to the old driver?

Drivers aside, lets make sure your CPU and GPU temperatures are within the operational limits. If you don’t already have software the monitors your CPU and GPU temperatures, then I recommend getting HWMonitor, which can be found here:
http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.23-setup.exe

When taking the measurements of temperatures, make sure you have had the game running for a few minutes before discerning what the maximum temperature is.

Yes, I know people with a G600 who have been playing since launch without a hitch. The mouse is similar to the Razer Naga that I know many other people (including myself) use for similar functions to what you are describing. Ctrl+Shift+H isn’t really a macro, its just a key combination to hide the UI to take pretty screen shots. You’re in no danger unless you start doing multiple actions with one key press.

GW2 is laggy for me?

Hello GW2 forums!

I got a very annyoing issue..

I don’t really know why my game is so laggy, I’ve asked lots of people ingame if they got the same problem like me, I’ve googled it and I’ve pretty much tried everything to get the lagging off my game client.
It takes awhile to load maps, traveling, cities, etc.
And it specially lags alot when I’m in Lion’s Arch or in WvWvW. ( much people )
Any idéa what I should do about this issue?

My GW2 Graphics Options:
Display:
Resolution: Full screen – 1680 × 1050
Frame Limiter: Unlimited
Interface Size: Normal
Full-screen Gamma: 1.00.

Shaders: High
Post-Processing: High
WvWvW Character Limit: Highest
WvWvW Character Quality: Highest
Best Texture Filtering: Yes
Depth Blur: Yes
High-Res Character Textures: Yes
Vertical Sync: Yes.

When I am changing to the lowest quality, it’s indeed not so laggy… but I want the highest because I just love the graphic are made done, it’s so beautiful!
Do you think it’s wrong with my PC’s driver or graphic card?

Thank you!

Just to clarify lag (latency) is not low FPS. Latency is caused by the time it takes for data to get from your computer to the destination (ArenaNet’s servers) and back to the source again (your computer). The more time, the more latency or delay you will experience when performing actions. A common occurrence of this is using a skill and five second later the skill actually goes off.

Now that the terminology is straight… You don’t mention your graphics card, but judging from your CPU, its likely not going to be able to handle everything at highest settings and still achieve good FPS. If you want to do that, upgrade your graphics card. In more crowded areas your FPS will drop because your CPU is a half a decade old.

If you are not keen on upgrading, turn your sampling from supersampling to native and reflections from ‘All’ to ‘Terrain and Sky’. That should help quite a bit. Turn shadows down too if the FPS isn’t desirable.

(please try to keep it simple, I’m not the kind of guy people ask to fix their computers)

Assuming one of those files is the .exe and one is the .dat, then you’re good to go. The .dat is basically the entire game’s data file.

asking for tips for a better FPS in GW2

Ilithis Mithilander.3265

hello everyone, I’m a just an average gamer that like MMOs but I understand little how to improve a computer. I really like the game but i have never being able to enjoy it to the fullest. I play at the minimum requirements and i get about 16-31 FPS in the open world and much lower FPS in Lion’s Arch. I gotten used of such low frame rate but I was just wondering if it’s possible to increase it. I saw a video on youtube of one guy discussing about the FPS in GW2 and he said that guild wars performance runs heavily on the CPU. I bought my computer on 2008 and all i have upgraded is the video card and an extra 1 GB Ram memory.

my video card is NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS

CPU is AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+

i got 3 GB of Ram

To put it more clearly, the computer you have is likely being hampered by your sub-par graphics card. Firstly, I want to make better sense of what we’re dealing with here. Check your GPU usage when you are playing the game. If the GPU usage is at 90% or greater most of the time, a general rule of thumb is that it is time to upgrade your graphics card.

What resolution do you play the game at?

Check your CPU usage when playing the game. If its at 90% or greater most of the time, a general rule of thumb is that it is time to upgrade your CPU. In your case this means a whole new computer since your motherboard won’t support any recent processors.

Indeed, what GPU do you use? That processor came out at the start of 2009, and Intel’s HD 3000 (the minimum requirement) wasn’t around until early 2011, so if it is integrated, its time to get on board with a discrete card.

Hey, the first time I played the game I had REALLY good fps, I could max out the settings and play flawlessly. However the next day I began having horrible fps, like 5-10fps which rendered the game unplayable, and now I have to have my settings at minimum to even be able to play the game. I have ran virus scans and deleted cookies to no avail. Here are my tech specs, should I be having these problems? And what can I do to fix them.

Crash after 5 minutes

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Ilithis Mithilander.3265

Ilithis Mithilander.3265

Hi guys, the problems have returned: I log in, play for 5 minutes, then screen freezes and the pc reboots.

I suspect I have to settle my GPU for good, but I don’t know how, so If you could help me I’d be very grateful.

Also somehow loading screens have become slower than before and I often see the game loads windows like inventory or character panel slower.
I get a drop in the FPS just by having the guild panel on.

My specs are

AMD Phenom II x4 965 Processor
8 Gb RAM
The graphic card you can see in the image
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

I noticed you posted the idle temperature of your graphics card. What is the load temperature of your graphics card? Play Guild Wars 2 for a few minutes, then check the temperature.

Just now I’ve tried to open the game to screen the temp but it did the same things of before in the character screen, almost immediately.

It could be the temp though, because I do remember that the game runs ok at night, while is cooler, but freezes and crashes on daytime, while is way too hot

The temp though usually goes around 53 – 56° while the game is running, and the activity panel shows 42 – 48% activity (this is all on the Amd control center panel)

Well 56C isn’t a problem for your GPU. I would expect it to use more than 50% usage though. Perhaps your graphics card isn’t totally being utilized or perhaps your graphics options are set lower than needed. Was this temperature reading during the daytime or nighttime?

What about the temperature of your CPU? Can we get and idle and load temperature of that as well?

About the graphic options, it could be, because I had to set them like this or no game, may it be GW2 or another, would have gone without rebooting.
Infact I don’t have any clue how to balance these settings, but the worst part is, nobody on the internet seems to have a clue about how to settle your GPu and memory right.
Other than the values you see in the Amd control panel, everything else reboots my pc.

About the CPU temp, according to ASrock extreme Tuner, they are at 41 C° while running GW2.
The readings I gave you before were also done on daytime.

I think you might be referring to overclocking your GPU which we want to avoid at the moment. I was talking about the Guild Wars 2 graphics options in the game. Perhaps you can set the graphic settings in game to utilize the GPU better/more.

Your CPU temperature is well within limits, the max temperature is 65C.

Maybe its a hard drive issue, to perform a check disk do the following:
Open ‘My Computer’ and right click on the hard drive that Guild Wars 2 is on. Click ‘Properties’ and a new window pops up. Go to the ‘Tools’ tab and click on the ‘Check now…’ button. Then, just follow the guide from there to finish the check disk.

Still crashing. Not heat related as ive checked temperatures on GPU and CPU and they arent anything out of the ordinary.

This is starting to get ridiculous. Is there any crash logs for GW2? if so does anyone know where they are located?

There are, but I don’t recall where. Are you still getting the BSOD error code which was commented a couple posts above mine? Error code 116 is this:
STOP Error 0×00000116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
STOP error 0×116 means that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed. STOP code 0×00000116 may also display “VIDEO_TDR_ERROR” on the same STOP message.

There is a way to increase the timeout timer to allow more time for your computer to work to get the graphics driver back into a working state. This might help resolve this BSOD:

I have tried repairing, deleting the local.dat and reinstalling the whole game.
Enclosed is my dxdiag file

This might be a problem with your hard drive or RAM. When I had a bad RAM stick, the game would constantly ask me to verify the game’s data file, etc, etc.

Checking the hard drive is easier, so we’ll perform a disk check first and then move onto checking the RAM. Open ‘My Computer’ and right click on the hard drive that contains Guild Wars 2. Click ‘Properties’ and a new window pops up. Go to the ‘Tools’ tab and click the ‘Check now…’ button. Then, just follow the guide from there to complete the disk check.

To check your RAM, grab a flash drive and download memtest86 which can be found here:
http://www.memtest.org/
The download link is like halfway down the page. It’s best to check each individual RAM stick separately, so you’ll have to remove extra sticks until you have just the single one. Run the test, hopefully it fails so you know what needs to be replaced.

If all the RAM sticks pass, might want to use each one for a while individually so that you can really stress each stick. Playing Guild Wars 2 might suck for a while since 1 stick might not be enough for your normal play session, but this will really stress the RAM since you’ll likely be using the entire stick. After about an hour of playing on each stick should be enough to say that it is a good stick.

As the title says, I tried to log in for the first time, since launch today. My account was terminated for botting so I opened a ticket and was promptly given the account back. However, 1 of the 2 characters I created at launch is now level 80 up from the level 25-30 or so I left him at so long ago. This character will be deleted and restarted in all fairness and appreciation of getting my account back. I would like to know from you all what is the average amount of gold/items a level 25 would have under normal circumstances that I can trade to a new character so as my leveling from before would have not been in vain and will help me level this character quickly. I will not be saving any items or anything but I would appreciate keeping the small amount of gold I had at the time of departure. TL:DR was hacked, got it back, trying to figure out how much money a level 25 would have at launch, to send to my new character.

Personally, with prices constantly changing, I wouldn’t really worry how much money you had back in the day at level 25. Especially since you can get any amount of money from playing the trading post and never level. However, assuming no trading post was played, maybe 1g? It depends how often you bought gear and other things. It’s hard to really say because people who die a lot might have less due to the waypoint costs.

Since the new patch is live whenever I click the play button my laptop will shutdown nearly immediatly as soon as the game starts loading.
The morning before the patch this was all fine.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Thanks,

Can you provide us with the specifications of your computer please? CPU/GPU/RAM are the important ones.

Well, it is not fully fixed, now i get freezes and crashes on loading screens.
I bet an repair would fix this, how can i run repair for gw2exe?

There are a lot of places around the sub forum with this information, but this is the guide I have found is easiest to follow. It’s for the original game, but the concept is the same. The -repair switch is the one you want.

FX 6300 performance

Ilithis Mithilander.3265

Hey, if I were gonna get it I’d run with a 7870; problem is everyone says the fx 6300 doesn’t have the single core performance to handle gw2 in big events. I’m probably getting an I5 instead, which is a dissapointment cos the 6300 is such a good price.

Just a warning about performance on Intel vs AMD processors. Even though the i5 does have better single thread performance, its not worth ‘upgrading’ from a 6300 to Intel. If nothing has been bought yet or you’re upgrading from an older generation processor, then sure; grab the i5 and run with it.

i7 920 overclocked to 3.9ghz with a radeon 7850 overclocked. I always wondered if its normal to only get 29-33fps most places and 20fps in LA 24 around crowds. just seems like I should be getting better frames with everything on max 1920-1080 resolution

is this about the frames everyone gets with this hardware

No, we have a very similar processor at a similar frequency. Our graphics cards differ, but with an overclocked 7850, you should be able to play with mostly high settings besides ‘All’ reflections and supersampling and get close to 60+FPS at 1080p.

As was said above, make sure everything is clean. You can also unpark your cores. YMMV with unparking, but its a power saving feature and when you overclock you’re not looking at saving anything.

Also wondering why I am always directed to the en-gb sites when logging into my account or support. I cannot seem to reach US support. (My IP is Florida).

Not to lead you on a wild goose chase, but I would toss ArenaNet a support ticket to see what they have to say on the matter.

The only thing I could imagine changing is the localization of Windows (assuming you’re on a Windows machine) to English in the United States. It might be set to English in the UK. Other than that I’m not sure what else to recommend.

So at the moment I am unable to enter dungeons through the pop up message ‘Join your party in the…dungeon.’
I click accept but it won’t pull me inside, and approaching the entrance of the dungeon itself seems to start a new instance asking if I would like to start exp or story mode, or with Fotm what level I would like, not would you like to join your party.

I have tried exiting and re-entering parties, relogging and rebooting client, wp-ing in and out of zone but cannot gain access. I’ve tried this in CoFlame, CoEternity and Fotm with the same result each time.

Any suggestions to fix this would be amazing, thanks.

As the person above said, toss ArenaNet a support ticket and see what they have to say. I’m not sure there is much on the user end that can be done to rectify the issue.

Looks like your hard drive is having a hard time writing data to the disk. You might want to perform a disk check by doing the following.

Go to ‘My Computer’ and right click the hard drive Guild Wars 2 is located on. Click ‘Properties’ and a new window pops up. Go to the ‘Tools’ tab and click the ‘Check now…’ button and follow the guide from there.

Just a word of advice, you can actually copy the gw2.dat file to create a backup. Then, when something happens where it wants you to download the entire game again, you simply just copy the backup over the old corrupt data and try again.

You’ve got an area in your system getting up to 128C. I don’t know if that’s normal or not, but if it isn’t, it could be the cause of your shutdowns. You may want to test this again from a fresh reboot without doing anything else or see if it gets this high with other activities. I know someone said a sensor like this is kind of normal to go higher like that, but that just seems excessive.

Also, perhaps try running a memtest, you may want to check your windows event viewer or any dump files to see if anything is noted. Start narrowing down possible hardware issues.

The following helps explain the weird temperatures. Usually if it doesn’t vary at all and is excessively high/low, its not really reading anything.

Guild Chat Bug

This started yesterday and I thought it was ended yesterday when I found a solution but apparently it was just temporary.

Basically the problem is it won’t let me see or type in guild chat and claims I am not in a guild even though I clearly am. I tried standing down and representing which didn’t work. Finally towards the end of the day yesterday I decided to try leaving the guild and being re-invited. It worked but logging in today I still have the same issue.

I haven’t seen a post about this in a while so I decided to make one in the hopes that it can maybe be fixed.

Attached are screenshots from today.

I just brought this game today from EB Games , tried installing it using the installing DVD’s and every time I get an error at 20% complete saying there was an error copying installation data and that I can ignore and download it instead.
I don’t want to have to download the whole game seeing as I went and brought the game with the DVD’s so I could avoid having to wait ages for it to download and don’t see why it should be having errors as its a brand new DVD with no scratches or anything.
I uninstalled and installed again and each time, same problem?!

It might be your DVD drive has gone bad. When was the last time you used it? I would try reading a few other media disks of varying types (movie, data, etc). Also, you’re going to have to download boat loads of updates anyways, ranging in the 7-9GB area is my guess.

Well, since its at 1080p, you’ll likely run at mostly medium settings with a 555M and get close to 60FPS.

The processor is clocked low (like most laptops), so don’t expect a lot of performance in large WvW battles and large dynamic events; 20-25 FPS is my guess depending how bad the CPU bound performance is.

While waiting for my new laptop to arrive ….
Go into Hoelbrak bank and face the rear wall. Press F11. —> almost 60 FPS.
Right click and slowly turn the camera, watch FPS, stop when facing the exit. --> 16 FPS.
Does the complexity of the scenery now being displayed actually require so much more computing power?

I probably just missed those hundred dragons crossing the sky over Hoelbrak (which would easily compensate for 16 FPS. What an amazing sight!), but since I couldn’t see them anyway, why bother my poor CPU/GPU?

Depending how many people were around you and what system you are playing the game on, yes. A wall is one, maybe 2 textures and not much else, while looking out somewhere else can involve hundreds. Those are just textures…

GW2 and CPU overheating...

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Ilithis Mithilander.3265

Ilithis Mithilander.3265

Here is my 2cents after doing some OC to my cpu and testing temps with GW2. I slowly OC my cpu from 3.3Ghz to 3.9Ghz. The cpu is 30C idle, and when GW2 is on, is around 50C-60C. However in the areas that drop the framerates down to the low 20s, (Jormag especially) my cpu temp spiked to 78C for a short period. Software can and will overheat your cpu.

I turned my OC down (for now), cleaned my case, turned up my fans, and ordered a better aftermarket CPU fan. I own an Antec 900 case (huge top fan) and generally due to the sheer number of fans, it runs cool for most games. GW2 uses more of the cpu than most games though and is my bottleneck instead of the video card.

If the system is properly maintained, software will never overheat a computer. Running the system at 100% for hours is fine and if this causes overheating, then either something isn’t attached properly to disperse the heat or you are knowingly making your parts exceed their rated values (overclocking). At which point, you know more heat is being generated from the additional voltage and switching that is occurring and have to consider the consequences of such.

Color Banding / Texture Issue - Need help

I have this banding issue when I am underwater in Guild Wars 2 and it shows up in other games as well, and was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it. It can be really annoying at times, depending how bad it is. It is a bit hard to see in a normal screen shot, it is a lot more noticeable when I am actually moving around doing things.

I have an attached image of this issue with higher contrast and brightness so it can be seen more easily.

Other games this happens in:
Defiance
Minecraft
Battlefield 3
Bioshock Infinite
Diablo 3
Torchlight 2
and a bunch more

Anyone know a fix for this? A lot of people I have heard said it is a common issue, but I haven’t noticed something like this until this year, and it is really bad during cinematics or the logo screens for games on Steam,

This also happens on multiple computers / monitors. I have tried multiple driver versions for AMD as well. I have been trying to fix this for almost half a year now. I also want to point out I work with computers a lot, and have tried almost every trouble shooting step that has come to mind.

Computer:
Asrock Extreme4 Z77
i5 3570k
AMD 7950
Corsair 750W PSU
8GB Corsair Vengeance
OCZ 120GB SSD

Just out of curiosity, does it happen when you are in both fullscreen and fullscreen windowed modes?

and a 7850graphics card. settings on max what kind of frames would i get?

also and/or what graphics card do i need for upgrade

This is really outdated but it can give a basis to base some estimates on:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-6.html

You can kinda look at the 2560 × 1600 performance and add an fps or 2 for the amount of pixels more they’re rendering. You also have to take into account what processor you’re using though. The more crowded an area, the more your CPU is used and the less data it can feed to the GPU for frames because the CPU just can’t keep up.

CPU bound situations aside, you might want to consider an upgrade to a 7950 or 7970 or something in the Nvidia line greater than or equal to a GTX 760.

I’m not sure of your budget, but you’re looking at cards above 200 dollars likely.

Resolution of Windowed full screen

in Account & Technical Support

Ilithis Mithilander.3265

Ah, so you wanted it to remain “fullscreen” but in a window and at a resolution other than what your desktop resolution is set to.

You cannot have the game run in a window that fills your whole screen that is at a lower resolution than that of your desktop, you use “fullscreen” mode to accomplish those results.

Why do you wish it to remain “windowed fullscreen” instead of “fullscreen” where you can run it at the lower resolution?

The only things I can suggest would be to either use “fullscreen” with a lower resolution, or if you need the game to run in “windowed fullscreen” mode, then change your desktop to a lower resolution before playing the game in windowed fullscreen mode, and change your desktop resolution back when you are done playing.

He could be running multiple monitors. I run multiple monitors and its faster and easier to alt-tab out of the game and get access to the other programs.

fx 4300 is inferior to 1100T…

What exactly is inferior? I understand that comparing the 4 cores with 6 not correct, but that does not use GW2 plainly and 2, true? That is, the bill goes to the frequency of one core.

And if you look in the direction of intel? What processor advise to upgrade to the 1100t? I heard recently released a new line of processors.

I wouldn’t recommend upgrading, the performance gain, if any, is very little. The only way to take advantage of the newer AMD processors is to overclock them into the sky.

The new Intel processors you speak of are codenamed Haswell. If you’re into just gaming and not streaming while gaming or audio/video encoding, then the i5 4670K is nice. If you do stream and do loads of encoding, then the i7 4770K might be worth your while.

Hello everyone! I’m buying a new computer and I was hoping for better GW2 gameplay expirience.
My current computer has:
i5 2.4ghz
4GB RAM
Radeon 5470

The computer I’m planning to buy has:
i7 3517U 1.8Ghz
8 GB RAM
Radeon 8730M

both are leptops, I was just wondering if my new computer is going to run the game in high graphics, I hope it will, thanks for the help!

Well, the laptop you plan on buying is better in just about every way. The processor may have a lower frequency clock, but its performance per clock makes it better than the 2.4Ghz 520M. The GPU is wildly better, but still very behind in terms of performance. Depending on your resolution, and desired FPS, you’ll unlikely achieve the results you desire.

Laptops, and especially ultrabooks were never meant to game. The i7 3517U is an ultra low wattage processor, the lower the power, the worse the performance. This means you’ll still experience really low FPS in crowded areas like large WvW battles and large dynamic events.
