If glint’s remains power the zephyrites what could zhaitan’s remains do? Will we use Zhaitan’s left over power to help us fight the other dragons. Meaning that with each dragon killed we would gain more magical power to crush the other dragons with?

I know what game we are playing do you also know that each boss mob in dungeons has things that make it more likely to agro on certain people such as the ice troll champion in HotW path 1 is most likely to agro on whoever does fire damage to him, so figuring that something like that could be put into a sigil since there definitely is a system for bosses that make them agro more likely on one person than another.

ok fine you want elder dragons to have more of a personality

silly idea go

destroyers have been seen more and more frequently around the surface so the priory send out a call for heroes to head underground to find out the situation. As second in command of the pact you first go to meet Gixx and Ogden to see if they have any further insight into the matter. When you are discussing the situation with them the ground begins to shake and Primordius breaks through the bottom of the priory clutching Ogden in this hand and quickly smashes him to pieces. Ogden’s stone head bounces and rolls across the floor and lands at your feet, (he’s made of stone so this would hopefully minimize the gore and keep it within teen rating) followed by Primordius letting loose a mighty victory shout (Ex. Where are your followers now Great Dwarf, they have all fallen before me). The ground continues to shake beneath your feet suddenly the priory begins to lean to one side then quickly slide down the mountain you emerge with the few survivors to learn this has happen at the vigil keep, chantry of secrets, and fort trinity. They were all annihilated by, destroyers burrowing beneath the structures and melting their foundations or supports. Even the Glory of Tyria (airship) was destroyed in this attack now you must shake off this defeat and prepare for battle.

end silly idea

not exactly what you were after but figured it would give the dragon a bit of personality easily seen by the player through the situation with Ogden.

sorry I should have specified with the orbs of power I meant to make them more like the orbs of ascension in spirit watch where you take them to a shrine (alter) and your team gets points to your score, they should not be used to increase stat points of a team, but possibly a way to break up zergs by having a captured flag thing worth a similar value to stonemist spawn on every map, and respawn after every 15 mins. This was meant to be a way to get ppl off their own borderlands and EB and get them to invade other ppls borderlands that way there would be large and small scale battles going on in every wvw map.

one reason to change portal would be that mesmers are incredibly overpowered in wvw in many ways currently 1) they have only 1 less stealth skill available to them than a thief does (not counting steal bonus skills). 2) Timewarp massive buff great for sieging or fighting anything 3) their confusion damage in wvw is unscaled in comparison to spvp I think it does 50% of the damage it does in wvw 4) able to minimize the effects of AoE with multiple clones protecting their allied players by taking the damage themselves instead 5) with 10 points in dueling they are able to spam their sword 2 skill to stay invulnerable 25% of the time and even when its not traited if spammed they are invulnerable 20% of the time 6) feedback is one of the best skills in the game overall and even better in a situation where you are defending your siege(ram) 7) their focus skill is the best pull off of walls in the game

Bring back the orbs of power, but instead of staying in one area the orb respawns every 15 mins, put it on every map other than EB it should spawn on the quaggan isle in the center of the map, when taken to any alter of power or waypoint entrance 100 points added to said teams war score. (100 could change probably down to something closer to 50/35)

New siege blueprints barricade is just like it sounds made to create chokepoints, or another obstacle after the doors are down in an defensive location

Minefield/spike trap blueprints minefield knockback, spike trap cripple or immobilize + damage

Sapper team blueprints, once finished being built the sapper team will begin to dig in the direction they were placed, they could dig under walls, terrain, whatever. As they move forward the ground above them becomes piled up and any point in their tunnel line can be attacked and if destroyed the tunnel will stop functioning, but if completed your troops will be able to use it as if it was a portal to get through to the other end, range 2000 (they will dig 2000 yards forward from where they were placed)

I can hear the crying already (changes to mesmers)
Portal limited to 5 ppl (or all other aoe being increased to 20 ppl or something inbetween)

if split between wvw and regular pve happens increase confusion damage in pve decrease confusion damage in wvw.

how are humans in tyria considered good?

Infamous Darkness.3284

I like your explanation very much but to be forgiven someone must turn form their past evils and if Balthazar is the cause of many such troubles should he really still be in the human pantheon… maybe abbadon was better?

But of course not all humans or any race are evil or good but the game looks at most races in shades of gray while it shows other groups like the centaurs in black and white, I took this approach and I believe I was wrong in this but still an interesting conversation

@Narcemus
yes ok so they had a powerful person behind them motivating them possibly through force to annihilate anyone who stands in their way… so this absolves them from all the issues they may have caused through their conquests?

@draxynnic
1) this is one I’ve always been a bit confused about why were the forgotten allies of the human gods did they know of them before they reached tyria, and why did they support them the war(?) between the forgotten and the charr started before humans arrival if I understand correctly.

And to flip the switch the other way (not being sarcastic want to know your real opinions), what do you believe are some of the major things humans have done to advance life in tyria not just for their race but for others as well.

@Konig
ok maybe you will like this example better though I still prefer the Aztecs v Spaniards.
Inca v Pizarro (the Inca conquered and assimilated other tribes [little bit of militaristic qualification] when Pizarro came around it was only a bit after a civil war had finished between the sons of the previous sovereign emperor for the right of succession [warring with allies qualification] and finally that the final sovereign emperor Atahualpa was killed by his Spanish captors and a native Incan was appointed as leader by the Spanish I believe it was the brother Atahualpa fought the Incan civil war against but could be wrong. [taking property gold for ransom of Atahualpa as well as establishing a colony for Spain in southern Incan land I think]

@konig
1) I believe the Spanish vs the Aztecs is a near perfect example of this
2) k didn’t realize that thank you
3) sorry but even in the original post I agreed that humans were good allies with the dwarves.
4) in the factions manuscripts it says the naga were only a few dozen in number (admittedly probably a lot more then there are seer)
5) yes but he/she gives you a key piece of information in protecting the continent of tyria.

@Narcemus
1) first off the gods in guild wars don’t compare to the God of Christianity, Muslim, Judaism… maybe others but for these religions the god is all powerful all knowing and lives forever the human gods of tyria are not. second massacring people in the name of your religion should never be acceptable.

2) very possible

3) yes these are true but that doesn’t make their sacrifice any less meaningful

4) I suppose this was true but even with the ritual that the naga shaman preformed they had only 40 nagas in her group to start rebuilding their society with. Also we don’t know for sure how many seers remain, I would like to see them again but considering that they stood against the dragons while their former allies the mursaat ran away, and all we hear of their society is ruins I expect them to be extinct or even closer to extinction than they were in GW1

Infamous Darkness.3284

I agree with many of the things you have said but there are some things I disagree with

1) I tried to specify only tyrian humans as in the title did not mean to include elonians or canthans, and as such yes they may have come as refugees but as of now there seems to be no concrete evidence to support this, rather we can see that they did come and they did conquer, if they were following the will of Balthazar, then we could compare it to the crusades, or if you call your enemies barbarians you could compare it to the invasion of Americas by Europeans.

2) I’m not sure I agree on this one either just based on charr saying the humans were gifted magic by their gods and that is why they lost, they could just be sore losers but it seems to be mostly a humans bloodstone war.

3) completely agree with this said it would be biased

4) this was more of a reference to how the dwarves shipped the humans get to the ring of fire ilse and how they helped storm the first beaches…even though they were massacred.

5) In most ways I would agree but the asua was hired by the shining blade at the time and second we already saw one race come back from near extinction (the naga).

6) “Unchecked, the Titans will rend Tyria asunder. Stopping the Lich is the only real way to defeat them. But there is more to this problem than you know.” “Among the Titan horde are their champions, the Armageddon Lords. If they are not stopped, these demons will surely bring an end to both man and beast. Most likely, the Lords will be the last ones through the portals that have been opened.” this is what the seer said so yes they did not tell them exactly how to close the portals though Rurik only clarified this, when he told the players how to kill the lich and exactly what it would do.

Infamous Darkness.3284

ok this will be a bit of a biased look at humanity in Tyria please if you have any thoughts or think the judgments are too harsh please give reasons and well talk it through (sorry this article also got a little off track on the seer they were my favorite race so sorry on the bias on that one lol)

In the beginning they are invaders from another world who bring with them their gods and embark on a crusade destroying or pushing out the native races of the continent, once most of the land is owned by them they start slaughtering each other with their full magical power king Doric has to step in and asks the gods to intervene, they break the bloodstone war stops. then the guild wars start a bloody conflict between smaller groups of guilds of the three countries of Ascalon, Orr, and Kryta. eventually this caused basically full scale war between the countries that weakened them to the native races they had kicked out of their homelands. So now the Charr are the first to act they first attack Ascalon the lands that used to belong to them, then Orr, and finally Kryta. the first rather than restore the land to its natural inhabitants kills the remainder of its people transforming them into ghosts to plague whoever tries to live in that land. The second destroys its entire county and sinks the landmass into the sea killing all inhabitants. The third turns to unknown/unseen gods who save them from the wrath of their enemies only to have chosen among them sacrificed for their false gods safety.

Then on top of all this the main remaining human nation Kryta gains hope of escaping the Mursaat and fighting against them with the shining blade, during this period there are two races that come to their aid, one the dwarves, and two the seer. first off I believe that the shining blade did pretty well in helping the dwarves, they both assisted each other in fighting off the others enemies. finally the seer the race that may have only helped the humans to seer the destruction of the mursaat but based on what we know of them from guild wars 2 Arah path I would guess they as a race are not so selfish/vengeful. the seer save the humans from an enemy too powerful to fight and give them the means to fight back as well as accompanying (they are in almost every mission after infusion) through their fight with the mursaat and even the titans, giving them valueable information like how to close the portals that are linking tyria and the foundry of failed creations, and what do the seer get for this the last time we see them there is a dead one lying on an Asura (hired by shining blade) lab table being experimented on? how could they not treat this ally better and are the seer extint now NOOOOOOOOOOOO :’(

Infamous Darkness.3284

(idea for above ground event or dungeon)
taking less resources as the map already exists.

Since the defeat of Zhaitan the Hylek of Sparkfly fens have systematicly removed the remaining threat of the undead from their shores but, ill omens have begun to appear an eclipse, the high shaman of the hylek tribes predict, that like the sun their race will be devoured and pulled into darkness.

Droves of krait erupt from the sea ravaging everything in their path, they now move onto Astrozintli Forelands and beyond, but the denizens of sparkfly fen have noticed that the krait are not following their normal strategies of conquest and slavery, but it is almost as if they are fleeing from an even more powerful force.

Path 1 aid the champions of the sun in defending Astrozintli Forlands

this path could play out similar to a wvw keep defense as you are greatly outnumbered and the krait begin breaking through the door rally the troops make use of chokepoints to hold against the onslaught of the enemy, end boss being a Legendary krait Damoss (General Ceirioss) dealing massive melee damage, attack speed X5 of a normal krait mob, and throwing nets to immobilize enemies all the while Elite Krait Nimross throw nets and spears to immobilize your team.

Path 2 Assist a group of lagos assassins in eliminating the krait witch

this path plays out a bit differently, in this path you want to avoid as many enemies as possible, the more enemies you kill the more alert the enemy becomes, and the harder the end boss becomes. stealth is your friend. move north along orvanic shore till you reach the mighty krait witches camp, at the old site of the Nicantl grounds, here the true battle begins, she will summon dopplegangers of everyone in your party to attack you while at the same time using powerful waterbased attacks to both heal herself as well as damage you, depending on how many enemies you killed while trying to get to her she will have guards, one elite Nimross for every enemy patrol your group vanquished, when the krait witch reaches 15% health she will change tactics and transform into a mighty tornado for the remainder of the fight.

Path 3 march with a group of elite calatl hyleks to kill the force behind the krait attack

move south through the Stone of Hazzan fighting a stampede of karka as they move north. move into Leeshore Gauntlet to find a massive Leviathan, set up siege weaponry to bring down the beast while holding off the enemies that continue to flee before the Leviathan. at 75% health the Leviathan will destroy all your seige equipment and it will be time to get up close and personal with the beast but don’t think it will be an easy fight.

I was thinking today about this and I think the reason that I personally dislike traherne the most is the bad tactics of the pact, and I know some/all of it could be for gameplay purposes but we never formed battle lines to slowly and completely eliminate the enemy (with a slight exception of when you take cathedral of glorious victory). instead camps are set up in an undefensible line, I mean if you look at cursed shore the way many camps are set up you are zigzaging back and forth accross the whole map, this approach would waste many pact lives that could be used on other campaigns against other dragons. Also I couldn’t think of a single mission, quest, anything where the pact used all of their ability to fight (land,sea,air).

he is the marshall of the pact, a leader if he doesn’t know how to conduct a full scale war step down

“Many expected the initial Charr expansion through northern Tyria to become a tide of blood that would crash upon the Shiverpeaks, drowning Charr and Norn alike. The reality proved different. When the Charr reached the foothills, the Norn drove them back with a single crushing blow, completely decimating every warband sent against them.”

“Although it is certain the Charr could have destroyed the Norn resistance if they but turned their entire army—or even one full legion—to the cause, warbands and smaller raiding parties could not overcome the individual strength of the Norn. These initial skirmishes taught both sides to respect the strength of the other.”

This sadly says without really any doubt that the norn would most certainly lose as the charr have only advanced in technology since this time but the norn haven’t really moved forwards in terms of technology

Seer – the ancient enemies of the mursaat and the creators of the bloodstones (hey the naga came back from near extinction come on you know you want to).

Mursaat – floating mighty spellcasters, the former “gods” of kryta and the power of spectral agony at their command.

Tengu – … to fill out list

the underwater ram was more of an idea for attaking the bays in borderlands i believe the underwater area is damageable but no siege weapon can currently get to it

This brings up a question for me, if abbadon controled the demons/titans in the realm of torment and those same titans really wanted to kill the Mursaat what may have happened in the past to fuel abbadon’s hatred for the Mursaat?

The norn are very idividualistic I couldn’t ever see them joinig in a unified way with another race.

Charr also appear to be the fastest race to reproduce of the playable races. They are also fighting on many fronts (Flame legion, Ascolonian ghosts, branded creatures, Ogres and humans-[rebels], possibly the grawl too I dont know about this one though)

But what about the skritt they already have one large city, what are the limits to their hive mind intellegence?

The human’s may be well rounded in many ways but it appears they are not unified either, bandits(white mantle), rebels, centaurs that were close to breaching divinities reach, humans have too entrenched already to start another war.

Yes I understand what you are saying that all aspects of the game should be balanced which will probably happen such as they did it in Guild Wars one by changing the functionality of skills in different modes, but to be honest is your guardian speced into range? and second if you want range rather than longbow for guardians I would suggest an offhand scepter if you want to be more focused on ranged DPS getting a new beneficial damage skills for ranged 4 and 5. all that being said I believe I longbow on a guardian would be unbalanced as guardians already have the best survivability in the game (my opinion) so giving them a long range high DPS AoE weapon would only increase their surviability even more in certain situations, making them overpowered in some ways leading to a disappointing nerf later

(sorry for the slippery slope argument at the end there)

one, yes gernades can be reflected and flamethrowers too buggy so i dont touch it, and yes it would be nice to have long range in WvW on my guardian but i don’t think the whole game should be balanced around WvW besides that guardians have scepter with 1200 range which is pretty good, same range as an untraited longbow for ranger

I disagree not every class NEEDS to have both great range and great melee for example the only melee an engineer can pull out is the tool kit that has a prybar attack in it, and engineers dont even get a weapon swap they do have multiple kits but those take up utility slots too.

These were some ideas I had for new blueprints to be used in WvWvW please if you have any comments on these blueprints or others that are not here please post.

barricade – Cost 10 Supply, Area about 1/3 the size of a Keep doorway, health around 100,000 with similar damage reduction to heavy armor, Cost in money 50copper to 1 silver.

Mortar – Similar to Engineers Mortar Elite cost of 10 supply with similar damage to engineer as well as 1500 range.

Underwater Ram – Similar to regular flame ram but 1/2 damge 2X the cost in both supply and money.

Minefield – spread out minefield around an area each mine dealing 2k-5k damage depending on armor, can be overlapped with other mine fields, area 1000×1000 , 100 supply and 1 gold for cost

Sheilded Ram – 100 supply reduces damage of everyone under the covering by 1/3 (gives protection buff) maximum of 4 under the ram at a time similar health to a regular ram but damage is multiplied by the number of people using it.

Infamous Darkness.3284

thank you for correcting my mistakes first of all but the point I was getting to was that it wasn’t just Abbadon’s power that was involved in Nightfall but he had assistance from Dhuum and Menzies so it doesn’t make sense to compare their combined minght ( in creating nightfall) to that of one dragon.

it says that in war for kryta the shining blade used seer magic to help in their fight against the white mantle and mursaat, could this mean that the seer are still around and are growing in power (this was 250 years ago or so) or something as simple as player characters had gained the seer defensive enchantments and thats all?
