Try getting to rank 6 (if you are not already) and see if you get them. While not specifically stated in the wiki I have seen some suggest this in other threads on this topic. The wiki for World Experience does state that world rank chests below rank 6 have less loot because they are easier to acquire. Just and idea and the only thing I can think of.

Skills 1-5 are based off the weapon. You’ll find weapons have a disposition towards ether direct damage or condition damage. Your 6-10 skills are ones you get to choose usually. Now Revenant is a little different. His 6-10 skills are based off the legend you are channeling and all you can do is change the order.

You can buy different weapons for each profession that will give them different 1-5 skills.

Note: Shield is only available after unlocking the elite specialization. But you don’t really need to worry about that until L80 and when you enter HoT.

That said Revenant is a bit unique in how skills are handled. You should have 5 character slots so I’d encourage you to try some other professions as well. A lot of people seem to enjoy starting with Ranger, Guardian, or Warrior. They are a bit more simplified early on. My suggestion though is if you give Ranger a go don’t get too used to sitting back plinking mobs with a long bow while your pet tanks. I think it teaches bad habits that will haunt you later on.

I main a Revenant now after first maining Guardian then Ranger then Mesmer. I love it but I agree it may not be new player friendly due to the swapping of stances and such. But if you have the patience and learn it as a new player you might benefit later when you try other professions.

Welcome to GW2. It is a wonderful game. First tip is to just jump in and explore. You will begin in the starter area for what ever race you choose. There are not traditional quests like most MMOs. There are hearts tasks located on the map that kind of guide you to various areas around the map, vistas to discover, points of interest and also watch for dynamic events that pop up around all the maps. So the first tip I guess is to just start exploring and see what you discover.

Also here is a thread that may be helpful, it is a long read and some of the things mentioned have changed since it originated. However, there are still a lot of good tips.

ArenaNet should at least let drop items you need for ALL legendaries as only T6 mats, ectos, obsidian shards or mystic coins and not useless loadstones, leather, silk and woods.

Lodestones are used for legendary weapons. In fact, almost all drops are used for legendary weapons. Silk is not a possible drop.

Still wondering if I should get a Royal Terrace Pass. I hear it lacks the activity NPC that other ones have but that’s not a big deal.

I’m looking at it because I figure I could get easy access to the mystic forge NPC because I don’t want to go to Lion’s Arch. The mystic forge conduit has proved lacking because a lot of the stuff requires you to go buy the crystals and wine and crap.

The close crafting stations are nice too, but Rata Sum seems good enough as well.

My one gripe atm is that DR’s home instance is utterly terrible at node placement. I could use the gate to go to Rata Sum though.

I like the Royal Terrace due to the close location of everything I want to do, crafting, bank, laurel vendor, mystic forge, TP and gate to other cities. It is a really condensed space and it saves a lot of time from not having to run around. I was disappointed they didn’t add the activity NPC like the air ship but it isn’t a huge deal to me. It has been one of my favorite gem store purchases.

If you are talking about your display name you can submit a ticket and ask however in the past Anet has been very strict on display name changes for several reasons.

Anet usually only offers display name changes in the event the display name compromises your privacy, (example using real name or email address), or if the name violates the GW2 naming policy. The links below go to posts from Anet staff regarding this issue.

It sounds like you registered a new account instead of logging into to your current account and adding the code. The later is the way to upgrade an account to HoT. You will need to submit a support ticket and ask Anet to help you sort it out. I’m pretty sure I have seen others do the same in the past and reported that Anet helped them correct the issue.

Your compensation is the life lesson that things like this happen and despite whatever discomfort you experienced from it you managed to survive.

Personally I hope Anet does not give any compensation. It will give those stomping their feet demanding such a valuable life lesson that sometimes things like this happen and they just have to get over it. Plus even if Anet did do some kind of compensation the next wave of complaints would probably be many of the same people that demanded compensation complaining that it wasn’t good enough.

Your friend needs to submit one ticket to support. If he submitted multiple tickets to support recently he needs to close the duplicate tickets. Duplicate tickets significantly slow response time as they can place their support request at the back of the queue. If your friend has not received a response from support after 72 hours ( 3 days) he can post his ticket number for review in the sticky thread located at the top of this forum. If he can not post in the tickets for review thread due to ban you can post his ticket number for him with a brief explanation of the problem.

I don’t know about crafting boosters but the guide I think is usually the most efficient way to craft level. There may be better ways but that is what I use.

1500 days is a little over 4 years and the game isn’t that old. Nobody should be at the cap and I can’t imagine anyone having played for 1500 straight days without missing a single daily.

The cap also includes points from the no longer existent monthly. Lots of people have reached the cap.

Just curious, what method did you use to randomly select the winners? Was it names in a hat or some other method.

I certainly hope the next expansion swings a bit more toward the core game style . I’d like to see a bit of a middle ground between HoT maps and core. I’d rather not see any or at least much less of the vertical maps and less annoying mob density like we see in HoT. Just my opinion.

Perhaps look for guilds that are friendly towards those new to raids and willing to help.

The search has been broken for years. Anet’s last statement on the search feature is they have no plans to fix it as they no longer work with the contractor that made the forum and they don’t want to dedicate resources to it themselves.

Submitting multiple tickets can slow response time. Consider closing your second ticket. You can do so by replying to the email and stating it is a duplicate ticket and ask them to close it. That said you can post your first ticket in the sticky thread at the top of this forum that is for review of tickets 3 days and older.

When the infinite tools first came out they were soul bound. People complained so Anet created a way for those that had them to convert them to account bound and all infinite tools sold since then were also account bound. They even allowed people with duplicate tools to get a gem refund. I believe that will be their one and only compromise on this issue as requests similar to yours have been brought up many times since then without a change. Of course I could be wrong but personally I don’t see it happening.

I’ve been playing since around April 2013, 1,822 hours played since. I had The Legend drop within 20 minutes after leveling my Guardian to 80 during a Scarlett event. I think I had maybe 150 -200 hours or so played at the time. Maybe more I don’t recall. At that point I’d already spent a few hundred dollars on gems. So maybe the better question should be how much real money have you spent on gems and how many precursors have you had drop in game. Tinfoil hat.

If I recall correctly the mystic dragon was given out the at the same Anet launched SMS. So anyone that enabled SMS from day one and players there after should have received the mini. Check your bank, bags, and even check your mail because I believe that is how it was delivered. If you are sure you never received it you will need to submit a support ticket.

Personally I couldn’t really tell what you were trying to say either. It looked like some RP on the forum to me. For suggestions, if you want the busy Anet staff to read and consider them it’s probably best to be as clear and concise as possible.

The target for a response is 3 days or less. If you do not receive a response after 3 days you can post your ticket number in the sticky thread at the top of this forum for review.

There is no difference in the codes. Once you buy a valid game code you simply apply it to your account for full access to HoT on Mac or PC. Be warned though that you should only buy codes from Anet or one of their authorized retailers. I’ve seen an increase in posts on the support forum from people that bought a code from a source that isn’t an authorized retailer and ended up getting their account suspended because they bought a code that ended up being stolen.

To get the name from character 1 on character 2 you would first have to rename character 1. Once character 1’s name is changed that will free up their old name and secure it for your account for 24 hours. (After 24 hours anyone can grab it). So you would then need to use another name change contract on character 2 to give it character 1’s old name.

The auto response email goes to the same email address you used to submit your ticket in the “Your email address,” field of the form.

Sending duplicate tickets will often slow response time. When a ticket is submitted the person submitting it should receive an auto response email very soon after submitting the ticket. The auto response email includes the ticket number and a copy of the message sent buy the person submitting the ticket. If the person submitting the ticket didn’t receive the auto response email they may have used the wrong/or inactive email address or they may have a problem with emails from Anet getting filtered by their email provider. Yes the house always wins. It is more a statement based on psychology and gambling habit. In a real world casino every game the house always has the best odds even though in some cases they can be as low as 1% in favor of the house. (The exception is poker where you are playing against others and a percentage of the pot goes to the casino.) Sure if you go and bet $100 on red in roulette and win then walk away the house didn’t win. But in most cases people don’t just win and walk away. The OPs post is a testament to that and the casinos that cost hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars to build are a testament to that. Over time, no matter what the game if you keep playing the house always wins.

Although perhaps those two opinions sum up everyone else’s opinion pretty much and nobody wanted to sound redundant? shrugs I don’t know.

Well one thing to know is that the difficulty is slightly more ramped up from core maps. You won’t find the standard “flat” maps with the lower mob density you are used to in core. Almost every where you go you will be either fighting or running for your life against mobs that are more difficult and complex than core mobs. While doing so you will face the challenge of having to learn your way around a maze of multiple levels in each map. Often the path is not very clear. So be prepared for a sharp learning curve and be ready to group up with others to reach several goals.

Personally I don’t care for the HoT maps as a very casual player but many players do seem to enjoy it. The most I got out of it was gliding in core maps, auto loot, a few elite specs I like and playing Revenant which I do enjoy and became my main. If you decide to buy HoT I hope you enjoy it as many other have.
