how effective is Chill in SPvP?
With more group roles becoming more popular in HoT Raid content,
could this mean Med Kit will finally get a buff to respectful levels similar to other big outsourced heals in HoT content?

Also Druid Staff uses Rifle animation and still wield like a caster staff.
Rangers are very good for WvW. they have good range burst. Also their pets taunt for shut down CC in zerg vs zerg.
Also they have nice traps for conditions. Warhorn is great support for zerg.
No idea what you talking. Cant help if your team’s leadership lack innovation.
What kind of Druid are you going to be?
1-Restoration
2-Feral

Edit: Added Guardian druid
Restoration…
I like healing others in WvW and PvP. Even in Meta Events…
Could just be in casting animation. But let’s not be conservative in our conclusions from stylized art and go all in with the wild assumptions.
we already seen the video of the Druid in action from HoT trailer. so no point arguing this now. This been known for months now.
Amazing, you totally lost me here…
I know right? The mark of a truly heroic effort to browbeat the Devs into buffing your preferred profession.
- “What have you done Anet!!! How could you give the druid a staff skill on 6s cool down (Non traited!!!) that grant 1 second blur to their pet? Now their pets are invincible! Who will bother taking a warrior when the Druid have a pet that outclass warrior in every aspect!”
Note that I even use the word “aspect”!
Oh… my sides hurt. Warriors displaced by blurred pets. Oh… it hurts.
Not like Anet wasnt saving best Elite Specialization for last to be revealed at a big event, or anything. /s
I am going to laugh at all you Doomsday Rangers posting here, when Druid becomes the most popular and most requested class in HoT….
I don’t see why to be honest. The only thing the teasers did was show us what class and weapon we were getting info about. We already know the class is ranger(druid) and the weapon is staff so the teaser seems kinda….unnescessary.
Not really. We knew the Mesmer, Ranger and Engineer before hand. Hey we even knew the Guardian elite specialization beforehand from the same trailer. We also knew Necro before. It’s more for marketing excitement.
Thx for the post Colin! So many people are statistically misinformed on so many levels.
Erm he told us nothing of any real meaning in relation to the point he responded to.
I don’t know, below sounds like a near direct answer to the post he was responding too.
The current system is making the player base smaller by the minute.
Nope.
No that was a half truth. New player population grown from new f2p model. That’s not the same thing. Since the vets numbers have gone down, and over time the new f2p players will as well.
Half truth still equal half lie.
The current system is making the player base smaller by the minute.
While I’ll let the PvP team respond to the other points here, I do want to take a moment and address this:
PvP has steadily grown in population and play hours going on nearly a year now. It’s sky-rocketed since the game went free, and the two weeks before this have been our best weeks literally since the week the game launched. We anticipate this week will be the best week login/play wise PvP has ever had in the history of Gw2.
I don’t want to trivialize your points – and our competitive team has some great reasons why things operate the way they do they’ll lay out and explain in relation to leagues soon: I do want to call out you’re using false population data to support your point.
From an ArenaNet perspective, PvP is the fastest growing part of Gw2 and had more success for us as a business in the last year than it’s had by far in the history of the Guild Wars franchise. Next year is going to be even bigger because of that success.
I’m really proud of the work the team has done and the work our amazing player community who has helped grow competitive PvP just as much as our dev team has and would hate to see that lost in this discussion.

Let’s be honest here. PvP has grown because of the Revenant reveal. SPvP is the only way to grind ToK. You know this, and most players know this.
Whats the intervals between pulses for group heal?
Its a defensive weapons isnt it? Lots of CC and blocks
Tomes will be different from kits because they have cooldowns still, but unlock multiple skills.
Maybe more of an Environmental Weapon like Ele’s conjures.
How often does the Heal Gyro trigger team heal?
Reaper said hi….
Wait whats the cooldown on Function Gyro?
Does this trait apply to allies as well using function gyro?
Recently just saw a trinity thread, and maaaaan the amount of fanboys is ridiculous.
One don’t belong to a forum or game that DOESNT AND ADVERTISES IT WONT have trinity. you bought it deal with it.
Second, mainly to the people that think the zerk meta is due to the fact gw2 focuses on an emphasis on rolling and learning tells. “OH ofc the game will be easy all you have to do is roll blah blah blah”
Drop some knowledge on ya guys who THINK that a game has to be difficult to require different stat specs.
Please look up monster hunter. It is one of japan’s TOP video games. It is made by capcom. been around longer? then gw1. It has NO stats, but armor skills. and guess what you just hit kitten n it dies.
How is this gameplay difficult? Well first of all, the monsters can and will combo you if your scrub. This makes learning adn studying your opponent a huge part of the gameplay. Until you master all of its tells you will get creamedddd. I have never ever been ever to play monster hunter without sitting upright and being at full attention.
Why I LOVEEEE guild wars 2. it brougth ALOT of the fun and rewarding mechanics of that game into a very massive mulitplayer environment.
There is no active skill in a trinity, it is just someone thats good with spreadsheets designing the OP set up for a full party, running said build in a dungeon, standing still, clicking buttons in a sequence.
if i wanted to practice hitting keys, i be in a band playing keyboard.
I GET its fun to play with builds and get some sweet synergy between them. but its WAY more fun getting small synergy in a build itself, but massive synergy with your own playstyle and say a team mates? i love the pvp in this game. its fantastic and feels so evenly matched and SO many different builds and player set ups its amazing. i cant even imagine how boringgg trinity would be in pvp.
leave trinity to RTS games and enjoy being IN the game in gw2.
So Tera is not an Action combat MMO with trinity mechanics?
Corner stacking is better than all pve in every single trinity pve content….
Where would Warhammer Online be today had they listened to complaints?
Remove complaints from forum, would Warhammer Online have lasted longer and shorter?
Real question
No ranger. Not no druid
last few ES and their mechanics changes
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Knighthonor.4061
Is it just me, or does it seem like the last few elite specialization havnt had much of a change when it comes to class mechanics?
Guardian got new mechanic skills. Same with Reaper. But Scrapper basically didnt get new mechanics. Same with Daredevil.
Will Druid head this way as well?
People the Elite Specialization are built mainly around Raid content. Gyros are awesome for that.
Other elite specs have access to the new weapons in their minor traits. But not the scrapper:
(Minor) Gyro Function: Gain access to the gyro function, Which can be used to finish a foe or revive an ally at range.
(Minor) Decisive Renown: Successfully reviving an ally or a foe finishing grants boons to nearby allies.
(Minor) Impact Savant: The duration of your outgoing stuns is Increased and the duration of stuns applied to you is Decreased.Does this means we can use the hammer without using elite spec?
All Elite Specialization unlock weapons before you unlock the minor. It was shown in both the datamine as well as the in game leak bug.
Morning,
I have just seen that a load of the elite specialisations are having more changes made to them for BW3, this is great!
But… I am concerned about the ranger. I love my ranger and I am really looking forward to Druid. But Rangers have not had much love in the game and I am really worried that it’s going going to have enough time to be tested and improved upon as its being revealed last and will only have 1 BW test. I am worried it’s going to be released with HoT a bit unfinished.
Thoughts?
Most of the beta changes were already designed far before the previous public beta. People need to understand how developers do testing. Most, if not None of the changes we see in the upcoming beta I directly from public beta feedback. They have inside testers who are playing a newer build than we, the public, plays in he BWE. Keep that in mind. The insider testers also play the Elite Specs in Raid content and all that good stuff, which we don’t get a chance to test the elite specs on.
This is mostly a public demo. Insider testers aren’t even playing the same build of beta as we are. We a build behind them. That should tell you something about these changes we been seeing.
Story time:
Rangers didn’t use to equip longbow. It was total garbage, and shortbow autoattacks did better DPS.
They nerfed shortbow to hell, by nerfing the autoattack speed and then its range. Autoattacks were the only good thing about shortbow.
Nobody used shortbow again. Still, because longbow was still crap, nobody used longbow either.
So they used Axe/dagger+sword/torch. Until they finally buffed longbow to not be crap.
What can we learn from this terrible tale? Nerfing decent/good weapons into crap level so other crap level weapons seem more attractive does not work.
but it still got nerfed. which is my point in the OP. Developers tend to nerf the best stuff down to buff the other bad stuff. this always happen. Not pulling this out of nowhere…
any of you do datamines? what do you see from Necromancer skills. not reaper, but vanilla skills…
Something been on my mind. Usually, developers tend to nerf things when they want to buff another thing.
What if same happen to Necro and Dagger. what if it gets nerfed to make Great Sword more useful.
Same with Axe. What if Axe gets buffed while Dagger gets nerfed?
would you be willing for such a sacrifice?
Am i the only one who would much rather keep the defiance bar on crystal hibernation and just fix the amount soft ccs chunk off of it? I feel like it is WAY stronger than a block that can be interrupted by any unblockable daze or even fear mark.
The only stab that i can think of that rev could use to cover crystal hibernation would be the stability road from jalis and that combo is a hefty energy sink.
It would never work out. The reason, is the balance between duration of the skill in effect, and the time it takes to shut down Defiance. in PvE which is designed for NPC to fail, the bar time is not important so its always designed to fail at some point.
In PvP, the bar is meant to save the source with a side effect fail element. But it cant be designed with failure in mind since its meant to be defensive against other players.
so both sides have to be kept in mind (offense attackers and defend source of defiance) in PvP. there is no way to balance that.
So, Rev is shaping up to be pretty awesome.
I’ve been lurking the forum, mostly because of the amazing communication between dev and players (also, hoping this communication doesn’t stop after HoT release!) as well ad the potential for a solid support revenant in PvP.
… But I can’t help but wonder, what does the Ironhammer stance do?
Is it support? Defense? Why ever take it over Ventari/Herald? Which would be the best for a pure support revenant?
Dwarf just like Centaur legend were built around Raid content for HoT, not vanilla GW2 which is why they stand out so much.
Dwarf is meant to provide groups controlled damage reduction in Raid coordination (something that isnt needed in Vanilla PvE)
while also providing a source for Aggro control for the Revenant in the PvE raids when taunt is needed.
Dwarf also provides group stability for group movement in dangerous Raid situations.
Everything about the Dwarf is around HoT content. Dont over think it too much. It sucks in Vanilla because it was never built for vanilla. Same with Centaur.
The problem that Anet faces, is that they want the skill’s animation as well as the effect to both happen at the same time along side each other.
Normally in non Action games, with similar skills, the trigger for effect is simply somebody attacking the source. So the animation and the effect were separate from each other.
thats not the case here which is where the problem comes in. Because each hammer acts as a spell projectile from source, and like all spell projectiles, they can be blocked by terrain, which is what happens when Hammer hits a wall or terrain object.
This cant be fixed unless Anet separate the Animation and the Effect, and make the trigger for this into something else.
Hammer + Wrench tool kit
what if Wrench toolkit auto heals Gyros as well?
Becoming a scrapper changes your interaction prompt (usually done with the F key) to summon a multipurpose function gyro to rally a targeted downed ally or finish a targeted downed foe at range.
That makes me think that there’s no choice involved that your toolbelt will simply be taken over by gyros. I hope I misread that, very much looking forward to the POI and BWE because right now it’s quite disappointing from my view.
No I believe they talking about the actual “F” button on keyboard and not F1-5 keys which has additional skills for Gyro.
That stability will be nerfed before release. Did you all forget what happen to the yellow brick road?
Does Scrapper get new class mechanics?
This may not have been intentional and could have been overlooked.
But a Random AI that stealths allies could be really bad for SPvP since you wil lose capture point progress while totally not in your control of doing so.
just saying. Maybe you may want to redesign this elite skill with that in mind.
yes Necros are very strong in PvP. problem is, certain classes which I wont talk about right now, are super stronger compared to Necro when played in good hands. so it can seem underpowered at times. Especially if your build isnt good.
It’s funny how barely an hour into the article and people start whining already, we can’t really say anything until friday, or even the next beta.
…except the name part. Scrapper really does sounds like kitten.
Well better early than later.
Remember Dragon Hunter issues, and Daredevil issues?
Sounds like Bow of Truth Spirit weapon honestly. …
I may do this as a project to create Revenant Racial legends and skills for each of the five races. I may need help on the lore side of it. But will put my creative mind to it.
You remember how they balanced Invincible Spirit Weapons? By removing the “Invincible”.
That is why they have a Fuel System.
Fuel limits how long the drones can be used which serve as their HP.
While they can’t be destroyed they have a limited amount of time to remain active.
But how will this new resource apply to the class as a new general mechanic since the drone utilities arent required. So what else is fuel used for than?
It is very clear now that our new utility type will be partly AI based so they can “seek out & aid allies” as well as “[with superspeed] deliver their payload really fast”.
Also it was said that they will remain close to your character most of the time, so it indeed seems that they have a passive & active stage. Please, for the love of god, make them invulnerable to dmg while being in their passive phase A-net, else you automatically disqualify this new utility-type to be used in WvW-zerging.
I have no idea what their effects are & I have no idea if they will even become a viable alternative to kits or elixirs, but if they can be destroyed while doing nothing but performing their passive effect, you gifted us with a stillborn utility-type long before you even had to balance their effects.
Likely not going to happen. They seem like beefed up Spirit Weapons, which also started out like that as well before cry of nerf.
these likely will be attackable.
I think the scrapper seems pretty cool at first glance. I’m not sure how the gyros will work yet and love the hammer skills they have mentioned so far but after looking at the helm on the asura engi and with the rocket boots this gives me that feeling that our character has become star lord from guardians of the galaxy lol anyone else notice this?
Another superhero connection. …
I liked the Forge name better. Anybody else agree?
Why would you use UA skill off cooldown anyway. I barely used it every 20 seconds.
Mallyx is still good for PvP along with Jalis and Shiro. Don’t be so dramatic. This is turning in to the ranger forum – the way everyone’s saying: “Poor us. Life is so unfair”.
this man speaks sense. although I don’t agree with the malyx changes and feel it takes a lot of flavour away from the class, it’s still beta. if it’s weak in pvp, it will be buffed. Trust in Roy.
don’t become dirty Rangers QQing 24/7
Funny seeing people say this to people as if there wasnt a 3 year history of them doing this to a few classes regarding pvp….
Longer cd with extra 2 seconds so 12 total now.
I’d prefer a 10% damage reduction much more.
Why? With sword I never use 2, with shield 4 and 5 are both situational and don’t always need used off cooldown. UA was really our only skill with the weapon skills worth using off cd. We are just auto attackers really
2s more on cd is better then 10% reduction. The skill is already weaker then AA, so it has to be worth the energy.
Adding cd is a smart move because it doesn’t lower too much your sustained dps, but you can dodge less frequently
If thats the case than i want to see a buff to the legend skills to off set for this nerf.
because demon Unyielding Anguish also got nerfed. What legend is now good for pvp that isnt Elite Specialization. ….?

I agree. Now what weapon will i use on my herald in pvp?
Sword 3 was the only useful skill on that mainhand… i want a new main hand power weapon if this is the direction they going in….
Why quit? Just don’t use the elite spec (like many guardians and elementalists will be doing).
OR he can use hammer and ignore drones and use kits/elixirs/turrets :P
Shhhhhhhhhhhh stop telling the secrets!!!!!
But hey I actually want AI drones for a build. Very minion mastery like. Which is what I like playing in PvE on my Necromancer in open world content.
