- I hate the female human face that Weaboos use with the cutesy eyes, the permanent pout and the blush on the cheeks. The one that looks like a teen newly turned 18. I despise it, and the fact that it is so popular makes me despise it more. I actively target and kill them over any other targets in SPvP or WvW.

- Female Asuran voices annoy me. Apart from the Master Tailor In Lions Arch, she is contagiously soothing.

- I regularly visit Helf Stonebrow in Divinity’s Reach to vendor my inventory, because I like how he slashes bargains in a bloody pool of cheap cheap prices.

- I used to despise the Sylvari for 2 years, and thought of them as the lesser, worst mock parody of a British Accent (From the UK myself), until they released the noseless face. I now main a Sylvari Elementalist and haven’t thought my character was this awesome for some time. (It also makes me gleefully happy that others despise and hate the noseless male Sylvari face because it is the only one I would even consider using. We have humans, lets stop making things humanoid and make them as alien as possible.)

- I never play female characters (on any game, including those with no choice female protagonists. There may be literally one or two games I have in the past however, due to it being that good of a game.) and every time I have tried I have only lasted a few minutes.

- I have two Engineers, and I despise them as a class. I believe they are the only truly overpowered class in the game, and most of the community is too afraid to voice it because they touch more keys than some other classes. (Because Piano is more deserving of reward than a Flute, right guys?)

- I openly rave about how I hate helping others, and how only experienced people are allowed in my parties. Sadly, I am always the one who defends the new guy who joins despite the description, and find myself trying to help others when I can because I like to overestimate how ruthless I am.

- I find names that utilize lore, and have thought out surnames and backgrounds to annoy me, but have learned to live with and look past it in these 2 years of play. I much prefer funny names or names that are openly dumb. (I would in a heartbeat party Yoloswag Mcswaggerjackson, over, Purius Trueshot or something.)

- At the same time I have a few characters with surnames and lore based origins, but am far too self-absorbed in how cool I think their back stories are, which to me justify these names. (For example, Shanks Sinatra my first ever character was a thief conceived from my GW1 Assassin name idea, Shanks Sin-atra, because Assassins used daggers and were very often shorthanded as ‘Sin’. Thief works just as well. My warrior De Baros is based off my real life name which means Brave Noble Warrior translated.)

- I couldn’t write a full post on this forum without boasting at least once about something I did.

- I full well believe I am the only person in game who thinks trying to be unique is stupid in a game, and would be more than happy to get all the skins and stats at the start and just play for fun like my own playground even if every single person in the world had my legendary. All I care about is how cool my characters look, and not how others compare.

- All I care about is how cool my characters look, and I meant that literally. I play to style out my characters in swag. I wont enjoy a character that looks bad, no matter what game mode.

To kill people in pvp, to roam and have adventures in wvw, to see huge numbers in PvE and laugh at random PuG encounters.

Because it is my playground? And it is one of the only games that lets me do whatever I want in my time on it?

I have always said this and say this to people. Guild Wars 2 to me, is a playground, a sandbox if you will.

What you do inside it, and how much you enjoy aspects of it is all down to you. If you’re the type who finds something to do no matter where you are, and create your own adventures/games in general, then you will thrive. If you’re better suited or enjoy being given a goal or objective to work toward or content very often then it may not keep your interest.

Why am I still playing? The same reason I kept going back to GW 1 after every break for 7-8 years, because it was my playground and I could do whatever the hell I wanted in it.

(Within the user agreement and rules and regulations of course… <.<)

PLUS: This game has one of the funnest combat and movement systems I have ever tried personally, and I love the pvp engine despite all the hate thrown at the balance.

I know this has long been a running joke that has probably turned stale for many… but my recent shenanigans within the Sylvari personal story got me humoured by it again.

I kind of like what someone said here, that it isn’t ‘Racial’ Armor but ‘Cultural’ armor. Cultures can be integrated into and shared.

So… how would one make a culture available in terms of armor without hampering the uniqueness and individuality of certain races?

Simple… maybe just maybe, they should make something along the lines of “Ambassador” armor? An armor set for each weight class, that can be worn by all the races, but is in the same design theme as the cultural sets for each race.

So like, the Norn Ambassador set might be a fur and wintercoat, or hunter based armor that any race can wear. (Something like Braham’s set?) This would preserve the unique cultural armor and keep it ‘special’ but also give people a chance to explore different racial ‘cultures’ with their characters. I for one would love this, my human in norn style armor which I have always loved but wanted on a differently proportioned character.

What do you guys think? It could even tie in with a living story style update, where a big festival is held to celebrate union in Tyria, and the armor’s are unveiled one by one in the Event as a gift from each race’s higher ups to the effort of working together?

I think all my characters look cool but I particularly like my Warrior’s design, and my most recent addition my Ele’s.

The below look isn’t for every one with Ele (Quiver, necro ish concept and what not) but, I, freakin, love, this set!

You complain when warriors compare sor with traits added but you just did that. Actual number values mean nothing when they’re used to fill different pools. Each heal gives ~2% of the total healthpool. That means to go from 1hp to Max it takes roughly the same time. If that’s not balanced to you then this is a personal vendetta against healing signet and warriors in general.

Also you said 862 hps, adrenal health ticks every 3 so that’s wrong there.

You’d be better off comparing war’s heal with necro or eles to thief or guardian as they’re at the same healthpool wise. The elementalist and war are just so different that they can’t be effectively compared using raw numbers.

This I think is a good way of summarizing this thread. Ele wasn’t a good option for comparison.

i’m just going to speak from the point of view of a thief. If a warrior is not using healing signet it’s pretty much a free kill also you’re too glassy I can see why you get killed easily. get some more armor, and sustain and use either condi bunker with LB + w/e or mace+shield/greatsword and cavalier armor.

Healing Signet is nothing. I run a burst oriented thief and wreck warriors with Heal sig lol its laughable.

What this man needs is stuns. I don’t think I’ve ever met a thief no matter how good they are that have avoided every single stun I put out in a fight, and I’ve fought some darn good ones.

With how squishy a thief is and how hard a warrior can hit… sometimes all you need is one.

I also run very mainly mending on my current Warrior spec due to me liking a burst style of heal but also condi removal. (Might just be hipster idk), and thieves are like the easiest class to fight. Literally all you need is stuns, that’s it.

Having seen his (Excalibur’s) PvP record (Daecollo’s main necro shocked me lol) in the other thread, though he can and has made valid points that were very well argued in the past, I’d still take what he has to say with a grain of salt.

Take stuns as a warrior, its one of the only ways you’ll win as a power build in PvP.

So, here it is. Your chance to defend healing signet. I find this skill to be the most ridiculous skill in the game, yet warriors claim its necessary and not unbalanced.

Lets look at the base stats for warrior’s healing signet, keeping in mind that the warrior has the highest base toughness and health pool in the game.

Healing signet (pve): Base 392 health per second with a .05 healing power modifier.
Healing signet (pvp): same thing.

Now lets look at the elementalist, the class with the lowest base toughness and hp pool in the game:

Signet of Restoration: 202 base health per cast with a healing modifier of .1.
Signet of Restoration (PVP): 168 base health per cast with a healing modifier of .08.

I just don’t see how you can justify this healing signet. It’s almost twice as good as the elementalist’s signet for base passive healing. It is also PER SECOND. That means when your running away, casting a long skill, or blocking using the endure pain, your still gaining health…

Feel free to defend or berate this healing signet. I’m curious to hear the arguments for and against it.

No class is horrible, some are just better at certain things. Its a game where I’ll dare say most if not all classes are enjoyable to play. I have been maining warrior since back when they were the pvp laughing stock to now where they are very formidable opponents in pvp and have earned a spot in the meta, and I shall continue to play regardless of how bad they are nerfed or buffed etc…

Because I find it fun, just play what you enjoy, its what most people outside the forums do.

Would also encourage people to visit lower pop servers I think. Since you wouldnt guest to the highest population priority servers looking for easy blob zerg loot. This would be great, it could lead to even the lower pop servers seeing life more often during meta events.

Maps aren’t generally full, its only during a meta event there, so a random pver in a random map wouldn’t really be afflicted, but I must ask why they wouldn’t just be exploring in their own server’s zone?

If you are doing organized attempts you should be at the map quite some time before the event starts anyway, and if not you can always use the "Join in " command with a party.

I fully support this system. If the people in question want to take part in the server so bad, let them transfer like every other person does. I don’t expect to be treated as priority as your server so you shouldn’t be treated as such in mine.

Then again, I’ve been in TC for almost a year now so my views are probably bitter and biased as TC is often guested to for events, meaning a lot of TC players themselves miss out on the instance due to guesting.

Priority system sounds great, I fully support it personally.

Edit: Maybe the problem of being with friends from another server could be resolved by people in parties not being kicked? I.E. if a friend of mine from lets say Crystal Desert is guesting for an event with me, while partied with someone from the home server, me, they cannot be kicked by priority system. Might work?

Yes! Stalwart Armor for PvE please. The only current skin I know of which comes out right is the chest piece in pve, I want the stalwart shoulders, only medium shoulders which look good on human males ingame :P

Also, its pretty obvious this topic keeps coming up for players to use as an excuse to add GvG.

Example – “There is no guild vs guild in a game named Guild Wars 2, there must be or it is misleading. So logically GvG must be added!”

Hey guys, I know this has been posted about before, and I wanted to re-post to it to remind people about this small bug.

There are a few skins in Spvp that can be used which don’t translate to PvE and some are by the same name and just bugged in appearance so PvErs miss out on 2 Medium and 2 Light armors due to it. No Heavy armor has this effect as far as I know.

This may not seem like much but I personally love the Stalwart Shoulder set and have been waiting specifically for almost a year for it to be added to the game. I understand other things are vastly more important but if a small fix for this could be implemented some time soon I’m sure me and a lot of others would be majorly grateful.

Please any Dev Response on this? Even a quick we are aware and will work on it soon confirmation or something?

There was an old saying in Fractals that pertained to if someone had a legendary weapon you should be prepared to rez them from down state numerous times.

I suppose everything has negative and positive views though.

The guy above me is bitter because he plays charr.

In this game the best advice I can give is to always go human because all the armor (aside from cultural of course) is designed around them first and then stretched or shrunk to fit the other races. This as expected leads to odd proportions and weird appearances on some of the armor pieces.

My first warrior was a charr I leveled to 80 and geared out, max height made him look beastly as possibly. I soon realized there was less than a handful of armor sets that looked good.

Now I have been happily maining a human warrior for months and it is the best decision I have made. They look great in everything.

Oh and also, I hate the knightly look, You don’t have to strive for the Knightly look as a human character even if the cultural makes it really easy. The best set I’ve ever made or seen so far is my marauder warrior armor looks straight up BA and anything but Knightly. Perhaps how cool Norn males could look if they weren’t so badly proportioned.

Yo check my buddy Callahan (Talon Deathblade ingame) out on Youtube. IMO the best hammer warrior on youtube so far. He uses terrain very cleverly and outwits his opponents a lot of the time and mains a hammer.

Just search Callahan IE on youtube and look at his uploads.

Edit: He mostly capitalizes on Cavalier mixed with Valkyrie gear thanks to unsuspecting foe.

Last Refuge as a name seems fitting really, as it will be the last time you ever stealth as a thief in most cases.

I personally think Endure Pain needs more flavour. I mean its not bad the way it is, it just needs a little spice to make it more user enticing.

Maybe just maybe something like, when you pop Endure Pain, 25% of the damage you take is redirected at opponent? Or something like that in a trait, or even a Hp Boost when you Endure Pain like in the first game, I dunno. Not to make it OP but I do feel it needs something to add some flavour.

I don’t see what the issue is. Like people have said above a dueling system would be absolutely amazing. There could be auto-decline options to help etc. And people can wisp you and bother you about anything. Why not add a duel chat option even, have it appear like map chat but a different color and only people interested on duelling comment on it. It would enrich the game and would make a very very large player base happy.

Alternatively dueling designated areas would be nice too, I feel like the key here is many want to duel in their PvE gear and in exotic environments. I’m sure adding something like this to even the gemstore would see it sell very popularly.

OP I’d ignore Fenrir, he constantly moans and whines about Thieves because he has trouble beating them on his warrior apparently. His words are surely biased.

There is in fact a lot of helpful advice here on this thread though.

When Engi’s use this in a duel server, that’s just cheap and silly. They should still lose, its lose on down anyway.

Warrior and Thief are similar. Both are very mobile, both can offer high burst damage.

Where they differ is, warrior defense and survivability is more reactionary, I.E. you react to what you get hit by or are gonna get hit by using your defenses. It can take some brunt even in squishy armor.

Thief defense is more anticipation and not getting hit at all because most of the more effective builds will have you very glassy in the armor department.

Unlike what some might tell you warrior isn’t simpler to play for everyone. Its really subjective here. Warriors have a more clear cut direct approach in their combat but its also arguable thieves have far more room for mistakes due to the brief reprieve in combat stealth can provide, making it ultimately simpler to play for some.

Whichever one you pick rest assured they can both have their moments.

Thieves are great at WvW roaming, and its their primary niche. You won’t see thieves used for anything as much as they are used for that. They do better solo.

Warriors excel in PvE and with the new patch in certain PvP areas too, and group based combat they are arguably far more useful when played right than a thief.

Also take into account Warriors can have a very deadly condition setup now as well as burst, so I’d say go warrior, plus having mained both, warrior feels far more rewarding.

Be prepared for hard fights in PvP as a warrior though, they are widely accepted as the easiest class to fight against due to their predictable approach to combat, so it will for you likely be the harder one to PvP with.

The Ironic thing about the post above is not only is it true, but that Charr tier 3 Heavy Cultural armor is also one of the best sets in-game according to many people I’ve met. It truly is a draw of luck for the charr lol

Me too, I’am personally loving the new armor set combo my warrior has more than any other set I’ve ever seen ingame. That giddy feeling!

I don’t think you can really point fingers on something as subjective as this, there are many who love the skins you hate. You cant have it all. If there isn’t any skins you like in-game then you are one picky and unlucky individual indeed.

Warrior= I like the celestial work, I think it works well altogether as an ensemble. I can dig it. Of course this is just my opinion 8/10

Guardian = Looks very classic imo. The Colour I’am somewhat disenchanted as I’d prefer slightly more contrast in colours. It suits the background of a Guardian though. 6.5/10

Thief= Very nice look! Sort of like a hunter with light armor armor. I like the winged theme in gold given it an elegant royal special forces look. 7-8/10

It’s most likely due to their past. Humanity used to rule all of Tyria, as well as Cantha and Elona, dominating it for a fair amount of time in the GW Universe. A rich heritage like that isn’t just forgotten, for example, The UK is no where near the prestige or power it used to wield as a country irl, and yet due to its momentous achievements in the past it is still renowned as a major power and included in all the political power plays of the world.

This is likely the same with humanity. You don’t just forget a past major power when they still have the potential to grow and a heart still kicking.

Plus Humanity fills the underdog role in this game, they represent adaptibility and hope. They are the race that stands where other races would sit down. What they lack in physical strength and intelligence they make up for with emotional and spiritual tenacity.

There’s a reason in the 200 year movement of the world it is mentioned that the other races await humanity to inspire them again with a hero.

Norns have expertise of the wild, a connection with nature.
Charr are military powerhouses with technological advances.
Asurans are genius philosophers and inventors who combine magic with technology.
Sylvari are scholar like beings with natural affinity of defense towards the dragon plague currently sweeping the world.

And humanity is a tiny portion of all these combined (save for immunity to dragons of course), and is left in the dark only to shine brighter than all these other races combined at rare moments in time with far less to do it with. They are adaptability and hope akittens best, never surrendering till they are wiped from existence. And that is their specialty I think.

you want a crap proffesion , grab a ranger , warrior is by no means the worst class in pvp , ive been playing warrior now for the last month and pvp is so much more fun with warrior , the burst damage is just amazing and people can be downed in seconds.
you got enough mobility to catch up to anyone who is trying to run from you , holding points till reinforcements arrive is doable with shield and endure pain .

Its not about just being kitteny though, its about entertainment. Unlike OP, a lot of people don’t want to see failure and it wouldn’t fit the atmosphere or music of the video in most cases unless a commentary outlining their play.

Generally its kept out of videos for entertainment’s integrity than anything.

Having watched the last SoTG I was thinking on the problems of team leaderboards.

Now a lot of the issues raised are valid and I feel a good way to avoid them might be the following.

Creating a team registration system. Ok let me explain on what I mean here:

Team Leaderboards (Or solo too maybe but there might be issues with this due to randomness of pugs) can become a list onto which you have to sign yourself up to. It is a quick and painless procedure, and what happens is, teams that don’t wish to be on the leaderboards who TPvP for fun or skins with friends can avoid the stress of team registration as it isn’t mandatory to be on the leaderboards to tpvp.

Now for those wanting to be represented on the leaderboards, a team registration mechanic can be added, where 5 players become registered onto a solid team with a name of the 5 people’s choosing, which will be like a commitment/membership type deal like joining a guild but only apparent and relevant in Tpvp. Registering with 4 other players to this system puts your teams name on the leaderboards and ranks your team using the chosen team name to respresent the 5 players.

As for switching and subbing out, to make sure it isn’t a light hearted decision and has some impact on team depth, I’m thinking there could be 2 assisting mechanics added.

Team Guesting and Replacement.

Now the first idea is a team is allowed to have a certain number of guests play for them and still be ranked as a team for a week (1-2 seems reasonable) in-case of emergencies where they would need another person to queue with.

The other mechanic would be to be able to literally have team members change. This would mean the team member would have to leave of their own accord or on a vote system, yet to be decided by Anet I’d suppose. (To avoid grief kicking of any sort). Once a team mate has been taken off the team, the team is then allowed to bring a new teammate in for their registered team on the leaderboards and TPvP. This should be a big change in higher play and thus I’am proposing a penalty to the team in order to avoid frequent changes all the time and the leaderboards getting mixed up. A new teammate could cost a certain deduction of the team’s ranking perhaps equivalent to the number of members they lost? For example if 2 members leave, they lose 40% of their earned ranking points but in turn gain 2 new teammates which they wish to have on their team. This seems like a fair compromise to avoid regularity of this happening, and would mean new teams becoming adjusted with lower ranks would have more room to opt in and out members than established teams who are less likely to frequently do such as they have far more to lose.

I also propose this registered team ranking only count for games that the team chooses to count for. This system shouldn’t block teams from tpvping for fun with friends or testing new setups and thus without counting in ranking, tpvp is allowed to be played as it is now with anyone, teammate or not.

I reckon this would be a good solution to the proposed problem though a large thing to add in and probably has many flaws I haven’t thought of… This is where you come in posters!

Teaching.

Warrior is a very clear cut class. It teaches you as a player how big or small some risks are and whether they’re worth it. They teach you how to manage your cool downs and teach you how punishing one mistake can be in a fight. They teach you when to dodge and how, and all the victories a warrior takes are ripped from the teeth of a fight where the warrior must watch carefully and counter everything in the best way they can for one mistake too many is certain death.

Warrior is a class many come to learn on, and a class many quit, because everything is far more viable in comparison to it at their roles in pvp, and they are generally a roadstop for players to harness their skill level.

In short, it teaches you how to play skillfully or die is what it seems to be good for. But hey, for Anet a fixing buff isn’t tackling the actual issues with the warrior class but instead giving them more base hp in pvp… That was the dumbest idea to come out of the SoTG recently -_-

What do u want to say by that vid?

I guess he wants to say by this video that you only have to fight really bad players to shine with your full offense speced warrior.

1:35: Squishiest warrior ever. Maybe undergeared. Not even popping his SoR although he seems to start the fight. -.-
1:46: Thief doesnt even know what he is doing.
2:22: Necro already running. Surprised by a roamer. Low level thief is trying to help out but lacks of everything.
2:54: Little ranger harvesting in the woods surprised by a roamer. Again.
3:55: The ranger trys to disengage with poor luck. Suddenly wild guarding appears. But he is just walking into 100b, standing still, waiting for death. Like a boss.
4:38: You can almost smell the fear of that thief by seeing an enemy. He doesnt know what to do. He didnt want to fight at all.
4:52: Random thief without any stealth, evades, shadowsteps.
5:43: Finishing off an almost dead guy struggeling with a sentry. But getting the “WOW O.o” by some random asura exposed. Pathetic!
6:48: Fighting a guard for a little longer. Warrior is at the advantage but falls off the cliff by accident. No Problem. Clever guard dont want to take the chance to reg life. NO! Just go straight in fight again and die like a boss. Reminds me of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels… in “Dumb and Dumber”.
7:08: Guard without Def and Damage (Remember, the warrior in the vid uses full zerker gear. 2.5k Def and he gets no damage.). Good job.
7:40: Again a squishy guard already struggling with a sentry. But just look at what he is doing at 7:40 (at 50% life). He is like: “Omg… This warrior is trying to 100b me from that range? I should help poor little warrior out and take a step closer.” Thanks brain-afk!
The end: “never give up”…. when you have a 2v1… at your advantage.

Moreover, almost none of the victims he fought used nurishment.

And so on and so forth… I bet I missed some more.

This is a typical “Look-I-Can-Cut-Togther-Some-Kills-I-Made-During-Hours-Of-Playtime-Video”. No challenge!

Id like to see a video of him facing one half-competent player who knows when to push and when to disengage. This warrior might be a good one but the video is just crap. At least in my opinion.
