The man was talking about rise being clutch defense. The only time you’d really need clutch defense is spvp, where you can’t use food, because you sure as hell won’t be running around in his bunker build in wvw.

You’d be surprised what works in WvW away from the main zerker and condi builds. Even against the meta builds bunkers can shine.

33% is still better than nothing, they could have gone to 25% and dropped it below protection. Take curses if you want to keep an offensive build but want to keep the survivability. Weakness on crit, free plague signet and boon corrupt, cant go wrong.

Its one thing to be tanky, but bunkering is useless in WvW.

I’m not sure what you guys are all on about. Necro can be so amazingly tanky, it’s just ridiculous. Blood magic + death magic + reaper top, bot, top and you are practically invulnerable. If you are running Rise! on top of that, the nerf from 50% to 33% or however much it was won’t make a huge difference, as people and mobs are gonna have a hell of a tough time taking you down anyway.

Whats the point of it when you dont offer anything worth to your party/team

The wiki says, “Steal boons from enemies you strike with stealth attacks.”

Is a “stealth attack” every attack from stealth?
Or is it specific “stealth attacks” like Backstab?

i’d say its the latter. otherwise it’d probably say ‘when you strike enemies from stealth’

I sincerely hope there aren’t any. At least not until they manage to think of ways to fix the attached problems that created the backlash agains this content.

Again, what backlash ? Didn’t see any, except 2 or 3 people ranting here and on reddit about it…the only minor problem I see is from à story / lore perspective, and LS 3 will resolve that (OK with trinket and new stats too)

He is talking about his backlash. And Ohoni’s. The great double backlash. Never mind all the topics on this forum and reddit congratulating the raid team. They totally don’t exist.

Is GW2 dying? Just a question, no hate

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ramoth.9064

Ramoth.9064

No, it’s not dying. Yet anyway. On the other hand, it doesn’t seem to be growing either, and is currently in the stagnation stage. Even desperate maneuvers like introducing Raids didn’t seem to help in that regard (and might have hurt the game more than they helped it).

Granted, there are definitely a lot of games that would wish to have GW2’s current population.

You heard it here first everybuddy. People are leaving the game in droves because there are raids in the game.

And absolutely nothing in game is stopping you from enjoying the raid.

Nah, raids as they are are stopping me from enjoying them.

Same rewards in quality in easy mode raid, aka free legendary.

aka strawman.
You have some really nonstandard definition of a word “free”.

i’m raiding, so i deserve raid rewards.

Sure. Because Anet said so. If Anet decided to introduce easy mode raids with raid rewards tomorrow, anyone doing them would deserve them as much as you would.

TL;DR: The only thing that makes you deserving of those rewards is Anet’s decision. And that is arbitrary and subject to change.

To us raiders, such effort does not really deserve any sort of reward

Yes, i get it, you think that only playing the way you like deserves any rewards. I disagree with that way of thinking.
Your way of playing is in no way superior to others.

And your way of thinking that you deserve something is in no way superior to others either. So really the great thing is, there’s a patch coming on Wednesday, most likely with minimal changes to raids, and we’ll get to see you and Ohoni whinge for probably another half year for something that probably won’t happen.

Most of the casual friends I know that don’t raid don’t even care about raids, just like they don’t care about WvW or PvP.

Even on the forums it’s the same few people complaining about raids (Ohoni, Astral etc).

Until there’s definite proof this is just conjecture.

This. If my guild is anything to go by we are 200 strong glued to raiding all the time.

If I recall correctly, A-net has stated that the very beginning of LS3 will give recaps/introductions on who the white mantle are and what they are doing etc…

Just as a movie recap of LS1 from that Priory NPC in LA was the same as actually playing through it. Right.

The people who raid and the people who enter empty raid instances are only experiencing the introductory lore slightly sooner. But it will inevitably come to all.

See above.

Raids were introduced exactly because a group of people were unwilling to play it at the same level as others, and wanted the content finetuned to their personal desires.

I see no difference here at all.

Game has no place for people unwilling to do things. If you are unwilling, you shouldn’t be playing. Guaranteed! I’m unwilling to grind the mats for a legendary weapon, Arenanet should start handing them out I guess.

“Handing them out?” No. But providing alternate methods? That’s definitely something that would be good for the game. I mean most mats you can either farm yourself, or buy on the markets, which is at least two options. More would be nice though.

I’d really like to see some numbers where people have actively quit GW2 because they are so up in arms about raids. You complain so much here and I don’t see you quitting. And if you, the staunchest of people who are against raiding haven’t quit they really have no worries that the supposed ‘difficulty’ of raids are offending anyone.

It’s not a matter of people quitting over it, it’s a matter of whether they are fully satisfying their customers. If they can launch a relatively simple change that would satisfy a lot of players, then they should do so.

Who’s to say this simple change of satisfying a lot of players won’t make an equal amount of other players dissatisfied.

The game needed a harder group setting, it has one. We all get that you don’t like that, but your incessant need for rewards doesn’t justify needing to create a dumber version of existing content

But again, I haven’t heard ANYONE complain that the existing difficulty of raids cannot remain. Certainly not me, and I don’t think Astral. What we’re asking for is an alternate version that IS balanced with the other content, which you agree is not nearly that challenging. You get to keep your version, we just want ours.

Lets not forget you actually wanted an easy mode that gets the same rewards as hard mode before. Why the change in tune now?

I’ve never asked for the same rewards. Same quality of rewards, ideally, for example it should have a path towards Envoy armor (or alternately, some other content of similar difficulty would provide an alternate path), but I have ALWAYS agreed that the easy mode should contain a reduced quantity of reward, so that running hard mode is the more efficient use of your time and effort IF you enjoy it and are capable of it.

Hard mode should be for people who enjoy challenging content, easy mode should be those incapable or unwilling to engage with hard mode, for whatever reasons.

And no, there is no ‘middle group’ you speak of, its really just people who don’t want to make a proper effort , and game design should never pander to those people.

You may see it that way but I see them as the core customer base for this game, and far more valuable to Arenanet than the raiding community is.

Once you start classifying these people in their own groups, there’ll be another group of people who want that easy mode to get a little easier, etc etc etc.

No, it’s not a slippery slope. We already have various content in the game with variable difficulty, so long as it’s tuned to be balanced against the average level 80 content in the game, balanced against dungeons and low level Fractals, that’s as low as it reasonably needs to go. There may be people that will continue to insist it be easier, but these people will be as fringe as those currently insisting that the difficulty should stay the same, and easily ignored.

Game has no place for people unwilling to do things. If you are unwilling, you shouldn’t be playing. Guaranteed! I’m unwilling to grind the mats for a legendary weapon, Arenanet should start handing them out I guess. It’s never been Arenanet’s mantra to cater for people unwilling to do things. They’ll never bet there to say ‘hey, we have content 100% of people will enjoy 100% of the time’. Soon enough the majority of people will find the current raids way too easy.

Oh Ohoni you’ve definitely ranted on about having equal rewards, like this is some forum for human rights or something. When I’m bored enough I’ll dig out that gem in a topic on this forum somewhere.

I’d really like to see some numbers where people have actively quit GW2 because they are so up in arms about raids. You complain so much here and I don’t see you quitting. The argument is that no one repeats the story-mode dungeons because the rewards are way too low. As they probably would be for easy mode raids.

If they are too low for easy mode raids then they should be raised to be higher. They should never be too low to be worth running the content.

Easy fix.

Even if the rewards are balanced, like fractals, then no one would repeat the easy mode once they’re able to do the normal one. Again, wasted content.

Again, that assumes that all players would “graduate” to hard mode. I don’t believe this will ever be the case. I believe that there are plenty of players who fall into the category of “would enjoy easy mode raids, would NEVER enjoy hard mode raids. EVER. Like in a million years ever. Like they would play the easy mode raids on a weekly basis for years, and still not feel like doing the hard mode versions regularly. That kind of forever.”

I guarantee you, if they get it right, people would be playing easy mode raids at least as long as they continue to play the hard mode versions.

And if the rewards were over-tuned towards easy-mode raids, then no one do the normal mode. Like COF p3.

Again, not an issue. Hard mode has its own rewards. People who can complete hard mode and enjoy that sort of thing would be able to continue doing so. Basically, if you enjoy hard mode raiding, want raid style rewards, then hard mode raiding is objectively the most efficient path for you. If you don’t enjoy hard mode raiding, but still want the raid experience and rewards, then easy mode raiding is for you, hard mode being too hard, and everything else offering a different experience and rewards. If you don’t care about any of that stuff, then neither mode is for you, and that’s fine too, but at least this way all three groups have a service, currently the middle group is left out.

Lets not forget you actually wanted an easy mode that gets the same rewards as hard mode before. Why the change in tune now?

And no, there is no ‘middle group’ you speak of, its really just people who don’t want to make a proper effort , and game design should never pander to those people. Once you start classifying these people in their own groups, there’ll be another group of people who want that easy mode to get a little easier, etc etc etc. Let the developers keep their own vision of how the game should be played.

Don’t guarantee anything you can’t substantiate please.

definitely don’t agree with 3 and 4. without reclassing games really can turn into a roll of the die; you could be stuck with 3 thieves against 3 guards. Class stacking can’t be prevented either because it is likely it will create extremely long queue times, MMR and other things considered.

What Spvp needs is a robust interface that lets you decide your class once your teammates are selected, like any good MOBA game. The current 1.5 minutes we get waiting at our respawn point hoping everyone clicks ready faster is a complete waste of time. It is clunky to coordinate reclassing with and highly unintuitive to the planning process.

Ramoth.9064

Casual is a term for people who play a short and irregular amount of time each week without a steady schedule. It has nothing to do with personal skill. Raids are already casual-friendly.

Casual has nothing to do with length of playing time. It’s just a description of commitment to change your playing style to fit the game’s needs. Casuals would rather the game changed to fit them, not the other way around. Regardless whether they’re skiled or not, or if they play 1 hour per week or 10 hours per day. Hardcores on the other hand are perfectly fine with rescheduling their timetable, and changing their friends just to fulfill some game needs – and they think others should be fine with it as well, for some reason or another.

I thought most people were asking for an easier version, so that you elitists can continue to use your special bathrooms and water fountains, we’ll settle for some thing stripped down and low class as far as the rewards.

We’re talking video games here, not racial segregation.

Are we? Seeing some statements about how some people don’t deserve to have fun unless they convert to the Only Playstyle That Matters, i’m not so sure.

Well then, I’m a casual player by your description and I raid just fine. Don’t give casuals a bad name please.

Look, If I can deal with the obnoxious timer based cluster kitten that is Temple of the Silent Storm, you can deal with a couple NPCs.

Best map is obviously Foefire.

Ew, no. The large capture point in the middle ruins it. They should remodel it so that its a small capture point but with more obstructions around it for cover.

No way the big node and big map size overall is what makes it the best map. Someone laying traps or AoE otherwise isn’t going to get free decap progress. One change I’ll agree with for Legacy is replacing Lord with the new Skyhammer mechanic of decaps if you charge a fourth node and make Khylo’s mid bigger, taller, and have the decap node while turning it into a four cap map (caps replace trebs).

The point of having different maps is that they have different secondary mechanics/objectives. Making 3 of the maps share the same secondary mechanic defeats that purpose, and only further alienates those players that don’t particularly enjoy that decap mechanic. But I agree that the big node size is really important on foefire. I honestly wish that all nodes in PvP were increased in size so that they couldn’t be covered completely with 1 trap or mark. You should be able to freely contest/defend a node without being forced into a trap because its the same size as the node

What I mean is, the node should still have the essence of been easier to defend. But not so easy as to just run around kiting. If I wanted to bunker down on foefire all I have to do is watch my skill bar and blow cooldowns while holding W and D. (exaggeration). The defensible properties of it should be like temple mid, having different heights and or obstructions.

egotistical elitist entitled jerks

Could you please make a list of things they are entitled to? It would be very useful.

Complete Access to the game I paid for. In case you missed this, I paid for this game, and the Expansion that went with it. Any Skill, Any Time Investment is nothing, compared to cold cash that keeps their lights on.

If Anet does not want to make content for it’s Paying players like me, or wants to cater some other group, then they can expect me to stop paying into this game, Hope you all pick up the slack.

But, yah, I am entitled to Full Access to the Gear, Content, and Aspects, in a way that I enjoy, and if that means I don’t want to deal with elitist jerks, then so be it.

if you thought your investment into this game meant anything, you’re wrong, your skill is pointless, your time spent is worthless, the only thing that matters is dead presidents, which is something I had been providing.

If they want me to keep providing, they better start to build stuff that makes me feel like a special kittening snowflake.

Because, remember this well, I don’t owe them, or you a kitten thing, I don’t care how much you love raids, if what they make is not making me happy, I am not going to support your game mode with my money. Keep that in mind the next time you’re swiping the credit card, make sure to buy a whole lot more to cover what I’m no longer buying.

This argument makes no sense. Arenanet are not stopping you from accessing the raid, you have as much ability to enter it as anyone else does. And painting all raiders with one brush makes no sense. I raid, with 9 other players, all of who like each others’ company.

Using your argument, I paid for this game, have access to the forum, should be have to not deal with people like you making inane arguments and insinuating all raiders are terrible evil villains, so what then? Arenanet needs to remove you?

Btw, I highly doubt Arenanet is too concerned about losing the few ‘mememememinime’ audience they’ve procured since launching raids. Every game has them, just like how every game has those people who shell out thousands of $ for in game stuff. Unless you’re that high roller you really have no high horse to sit on.

.
.
.
.
.
Wait, and now here is the kicker. Just as you say how very much you don’t care about the progress or deeds made by another player because all that matters is you. Everyone else also has the capacity to give zero kittens about what you think, want, or need. Remember, this is still just applying your own argument against you. Nothing you say or do will actually influence anyone in any way that can be corroborated as your singular contribution to the direction of this game. So continue to wail as you might, because I’ve already applied more attention to this than necessary.

Have you watched the pro league series? Not sure how many times one the commentators will shout " omg look at the condis!!!" Or something like that. If I had to guess the reason more condi builds aren’t used is because group comp needs support builds.

Nope. It fails entirely at the latter, for obvious reasons, and as for the former, the stats are no different than Ascended packs, which are easy enough to come by. If people are going for it, they want the skin. Offering “just a skin” is functionally zero difference from the current option.

but if we come back to reality I think we could all agree that if it was just a skin and not a legendary backpiece then there would be a lot less people going after it.

Nope. Exact same number of people.

Yes, it is a PvE item meant to draw PvE players to sPvP. Deny it however you like, doesn’t make it any less true.
