scepter dagger does have high damage if you use it properly like using Fire #3 #1 and #5 after 1 then swapping to air for #1+#2 and 3 wich you can use while channeling any skill then use #4 and # 5 for an extra hit and pushing your target back

my only problem with eles is the lack of offhand weapons so you either build for melee combat (daggers) or you build for ranged combat (scepter or staff) and even ranged damage is split scepter for single target and staff for support and AoE damage

if its pve bombs are most likely most effective however if you on a party and someone’s tanking and holding more than 5 monsters at a time go for nades as they can hit up to 15 targets theorically

Its great that you figured out how to spec your classes but none of that has anything to do with condi duration food having too high of a value. This isnt a thread about “OMG CONDITIONS ARE OP”, its about how 40% is just a silly number that doesnt make sense compared with the other ways to get +/-% condi duration in the game currently. 10-20% would make a lot more sense.

If there were +40% crit damage food I bet people would have an issue with that too.

But even with the 40% duration food conds don’t come close to direct damage dps…

normaly that would be the case but there s some conditions that were meant to have short durations like stun and confusion heck lets suppose you’re fighting a condi bomber and had to use your cleanses but then comes someone and stacks 3 10 second immobilizes on you even if you use your usually 3s blocks or whatever you’re still gonna be immobilized for over 20 seconds

2) Continue ignoring all the other defensive mechanics in the game that warrior has none of (evasion, blind, stealth, shadowstep, protection, regeneration abundance)

3) Healing Signet is destroyed by burst. Stop playing bunker for once.

Facepalm. So very much facepalm.

1) So? Necromancers don’t have Blocks, Immunities, insane self regen, insane mobility, damage reduction and other things.

2) As above your ONE signet heals MORE than Regen with someone that has actually gotten Healing Power – Yours comes with just susing the Signet. Your signet also can not be corrupted or removed. Also – you have as abaove Blocks, Immunities – while STILL healing and doing damage/cc, Damage reduction, same Mobility, insane CC, condition cleansing and others do you REALLY think you need more?

3) Burst is destroyed by having the joint top health, highest armor, Blocks, Invuls and other skills. Don’t be so silly to try and make out that Burst kills Warriors and suddenly makes Healing Signet weak – It doesn’t everyone knows it.

^the fun thing is he/she says it as if warriors werent a burst heavy class when the main combat mechanic of warrior is bulding adrenaline to use Burst skills wich insta kill most non bunker classes

Warriors complaining about “sustain” is hilarious.

Apparently the highest health and highest armor values in the game isn’t enough. Warrior “sustain” is a massive EHP pool. Other classes get sustain that they have to trait into just to equal a warriors natural advantages.

Lets put Warriors in cloth and lowest HP pool for a while. They are so spoiled they don’t value what they have.

How you talk is if you don’t know anything about how warriors where before the signet buff. Prior to the signet buff that large “massive EHP” you speak off didn’t do anything for them.

thats because back then all warriors ran berserker with greatsword only trait builds

hell back then players stood under wvw gates attacking and being destroyed by grenades now people know all you have to do is move side to side and those wont tickle you

Even with the adrenaline heal combined, it heals the same as a guardian built for bunker.

you just pointed out why people say it is imbalanced
it s a heal that gives you as much healing as a full healing power gear and trait specced class without using a single piece of gear and perhaps using 15 points in traits

Or because every other warrior healing skill is bogged down in pointless utility that warriors can get better versions of elsewhere and healing signet is the only one that just heals and heals high. Does it heal too much? I don’t 1v1 warriors enough to know. But the simple fact is warriors will always use the highest HP/s heal in their list.

Perhaps the heal interval should be lengthened so it heals every 3 seconds instead to accentuate the weakness to burst in return for the large heal rate.

Mending has a pitiful 262 healing every second, which does nothing for the warrior health pool in which we are trying to keep healthy. Just because we have the highest health pool in game does not mean we don’t need to keep it up as such, and Mending will never do the job on its own. Its condition removal is out-dated by recent changes to traits and thusly needs to be tweaked or reworked to compensate.

Healing Surge is way too restrictive and not every build will run Restorative Strength with it. I have already many a time described the overwhelming issue with this heal in question, but frankly it needs a rework so that it does not punish too severely for using it too early.

thats the problem warrior has the highest health but also has the highest armor
so by running berserker mixed with cavalier gear you got yourself a hard hitting ultra mobile fortress .

1. Automated Response
This is either useless or broken. Very good example on how to not design traits.

2. Napalm Specialist
We have enough burning already to never take this as a GM in this line. Maybe would work as secondary effect with something else.

3. Grenadier
Incredible strong but again a good example for bad design. Nobody ever runs grenades without it. The efficiency gap is just huge (+50%) so it is basically limiting build variety making every grenade build must have 30 power.

4. Armor Mods
While the effect itself is not random I wonder why we got this here. This has nearly 0 interaction with anything else engineer has (beside maybe frustrating the enemy to death together with blinds). Also it basically has the same niche as Adrenal Implants.

5. Adrenal Implants
This is basically poor mans Vigor (which we get as adept trait with kit swapping). Very random to have this that deep into tools but well, allows GC builds to dodge more I guess.

6. Autodefense Bomb Dispenser
While smokebomb is good the cooldown is still a bit too high. Also will never see the light due to Grenadier.

7. Modified Ammunition
This atleast has a place when fighting the lord in stonemist castle or some huge PvE/dungeon mobs. Beside that just a kittenty +%dmg trait which most classes have as adept trait.

8. Rifled Turret Barrels
Maybe if turrets ever would be relevant.

9. Elixir-Infused Bombs
Has a place in some bunker/pve dungeon builds.

10. HGH
A nice trait that unfortunately lost viability since every engi build has to run atleast 2 kits.

i agree with some being flat out stupid

1.automated response: activation is just too low at 25% hp an engineer is a mere 1-2 hits away from death or about to die to previous conditions
25% hp for an engineer is around 4000 hp

2.napalm specialist: why is it even a grandmaster why would non pistol users even use it now that incendiary power got kicket up a tier i mean it would be cool if it gave something like 10-20% burn damage or something besides the duration

3.Grenadier:i think its actually fine because it grants 50% damage and 300 range

4.Armor mods:its just extremely lack luster the whole reason aegis is effective on guardian to begin with is because it is passively up negating the first hit they would take what good is aegis gonna do if the hit before aegis activates was a stun or knockdown

5.Adrenal implants i dont even know how to feel about this one why is it a grandmaster mayor trait for us when others have it as signets or simply as Adept Minor traits

6.auto defense bomb: this trait its pretty obvious what happened developpers dint had any idea but had to fill every class with 2 grandmaster traits so they slapped whatever they found

7.Modified ammunition:its actually good for pve however being a grandmaster makes it worthless

8.Riflet turret barrels:would be great if metal plating and turret regen were a single trait

9.Elixir infused Bombs:needs a teeny bit better healing scaling i think
the only way to make it even somewhat effective is by going Full healing power and by full i mean over 1600 healing power so you get around 350 heal per bomb

10. Hgh: its still somewhat viable

Power shoes – im sure im not the only one thinking this but it should be moved to the adept tier so it becomes an actual replacement to speedy kits for non kit builds thus allowing more build diversity

Low Health response system-it should take effect when taking damage under 50% hp as it stands at 25% hp its pretty useless

i wouldnt mind seeing some nerf on guardian for base HP tradeoff for start,
there HP difference with warrior is a mockery, guardian is a “soldier” class like warrior its unacceptable to have almost the half HP, i dont want to comment on class power comparsion people have said it a million times on the forums and its pretty obvious by now.

Guardian used to have the same hp as warrior but arenanet figured they was too strong and nerfed it. You can always just make a warrior or necromancer if you want high hp thats one of the pros of playing those. If all was the same and equally good at everything there would be no point of professions.

then now that warriors are too strong they should drop there hp to the ground aswell

For a year warriors was considered a free kill the only thing making them survive for more than 5 seconds against conditions is the regen.
Then guardian can hold a point against 3 players and survive way longer than warrior.

except it turns out the 1 year of warrior free kills was a learn to play issue

No one used hammer at all nor sword

90% warriors ran greatsword with the trait that gave might on crit with greatsword and they all ran serker glass cannons

heck people dint even use leaps or dashes without auto target as a run away mechanic

pure cleric+ sigil of life user here and i promise you its healing power scaling is catastrophic with 1500+ healing power it doesnt get even 500 hp added

Why do people always claim that “everybody runs condition specs”?

Pvp: Thieves, Guardians, Mesmers, Eles have no viable condition specs. Warriors have, but primarily run hambow. Condi necro will be pretty much eliminated after the next patch (and already there are more mm and power than condition necros ). You have a point for engis and rangers, but there simply isn’t a viable power alternative for them.

Wvw: Condition builds are popular for pure roamers. Even for them i see a lot more power than condition specs. The other 99% of the wvw population that switch between small and large scale don’t run condition specs because they are useless in big battles.

I see a lot of thieves and mesmers running condis in pvp, guards, obviously not because they CANT, the only damage condi they have access to is burning, if there were a possible way to make a condi guard viable, people would do it. eles are the same, they can reliably apply burning, but other than that have minimal access to other dps condis, and again, if there WAS a way for them to use a condi build, you would see loads of them.

condi IS the meta, and it is such, because people can spec for condi without losing either A)their tanky survivability or their high dps with power prec condi (i.e. hambow) and because people cant reduce the damage of condis by being tanky.

one of the biggest reasons condi is so strong is that many classes dont have very much condi removal, or to get it they have to spec completely towards condi removal, which makes the build practically useless. Add on the fact that you can get insane durations using runes/traits/food, AND can reapply every condi that someone had on them right after they do use their mandatory removals and it becomes ridiculous.

couple the fact theres no condi damage reducing traits and such and that it completely ignores armor and yeah everyone go run dire gear

yup thats right a Global nerf is what he game needs currently Direct and Condition damage as way off the charts to the point players can have 3000+ armor and will get downed just as fast as if they ran 1900 armor wich is why everyone simply runs offensive stuff since defensive stats are near meaningless

perhaps Ferocity is a step in the right direction as that way they could actually scale the stat since its not a fixed percent value

I think engineers are currently the only class with only one viable weapon set. Most other classes have an “optimal DPS” weapon but also have weapons with valid alternative uses. For example, the elementalist has staff for raw DPS but scepter/LH is still useful for might stacking.

Please teach me how to stack might with the grenade kit.

i still find it stupid engineers shouldnt be pusnished for people not using stun breakers

why not nerf stun and knockback spamming warriors or mesmer’s dazing illusions instead

plus how hard is it to cleanse the immobilize after you get rid of the stun

stun break+use a Block or condi cleanse why was that so hard ?(blocks alone last 3-4 seconds)

You mean, the other kits we already have access to? If you feel so burdened by the grenade kit that you cannot reasonably wield anything else, that is pathetic. The grenade kit is not the be-all, end-all weapon in the game regardless of what your mythical spreadsheet tells you.

It’s great for vulnerability stacking, but for pretty much anything else the bomb kit, flamethrower, elixir gun, and even the tool kit are superior to it.

tool kit for me hits 5-7k autos without magic stacking nor a whole party worth of buffs xD

kill people with enginer in spvp without running static discharge or bombs then you can come back here and talk about balanced builds. Just because a class has some build that works doesnt mean there aint room to improve other non used build. This doesnt make the class stronguer then the others it just create something called variety.

I did ran static discharge bomb and grenade in pvp and made my kills. I can see however and its proly obvious to anyone who played it that offansive turrets is useless no mather if its in pvp or in pve when it comes to therm with possible damage builds.

Without healing signet they are nothing!. If you cant out damage 400 hp/s then you should reconsider you’re build. They have no protection, no stealth,no pets etc.
It take skill to play warrior. At least in wvw, Its do or die. They have little room for error.

thats precisely the problem how do you deal 800 damage per second on a warrior with 3500-4000 armor /try mixin zerker gear with cavalier you ll lose crit but you ll have as much power and crit damage as berserker

and yeah its not 400hp per second people have to deal with when 15 points in defense nets you Adrenal health an additional 300+ healing per second and if you want to have overkill tankyness 30 points in tactics for healing shouts for an additional 2-3k heals you can use without sacrificing your regen’s passive

First time here on this forum and knew this thread would exist lol. Jon gave his response and a lot don’t want to accept it. Now that’s funny nevertheless I agree with what Jon says. Healing Signet is a situational heal regardless of the warrior player skills. Once it’s used that’s it the warrior is vulnerable and that’s your chance to take the player out until healing signet affects recurs.

thats precisely the problem warriors never use it because they usually run shout heals wich give boons clear conditions and also heal about 2-3k hp per shout

so thats up to 4k-8k healing with 3 might and fury and 10 vuln stacking on target from shouts +800 hp per second from heal signet and adrenal regen

As Mungrul points out, the players who have multiple legendaries, ascended etc have the easiest combat in the game. Therefore making them as far from the best players as possible. The best players are those who do the same content without all the window dressing.

Well now you’re wrong. Of course it’s easier to fight in exotics than to fight in greens or blues; but that doesn’t mean that someone who usually fights in exotics is less skilled than someone who usually fights in greens. The person in exotics could maybe do better in greens than the person who always wears greens. What tier of gear you’re wearing doesn’t tell anything about how skilled you are; it just means the fights are a little bit easier for you by default.

You missed the point. Imagine if your car is in auto-pilot, when your auto-pilot goes down, you’re the worst driver in the world — since you’ve been accustomed to have the driving done for you — compare to a driver who drove their own car every time.

I think the point here is experience. With high end gears, you are less likely to use your skills, thus you’re not improving your play style and not gaining a lot of player experience.

confirmed with AC mastery the bleed tduration was 39s for me with food it went to 51s
this does not seem impactful but its broken like treb poison in the case of Acs i dont think its much a problem as it only stacks 8 bleeds and only if you stay in the bleed arrow AoE ring

well to be honest smite has the highest damage in game currently so if you couple that with the other 2 mentioned guards it makes sense the dps guard was running berserker while the other 2 was bunker Boon guards wich probably used Empower slapping instant 25 might stack

like name me any skill in the game with a scaling from power of 4.9 other classes have about 1.5 scaling tops

Please nerf engineers
