So if somebody hates you he can go buy some gold and put your name as recipient so you get banned? It is a bit exaggerated i know but there is a possibility or not?
If you get a large sum of gold in the mail that you are not expecting, return to sender.
Skipping vs Fighting in dungeons is like Chocolate vs Vanilla for ice cream.
For most people, they have a preference between chocolate and vanilla and a lot of times, they can’t tell you exactly why they like one more than other. Beyond the simple, I like it better.
I like the OP’s idea very much. It would be another way to incentivize play in lower level areas. The original change was made because they felt players weren’t playing the low level zones due to low level loot. Now, as pointed out, ascended gear has made low level gear valuable again.
One added toggle would be to omit Champ bags. I got my only precursor drop from a Champ bag (one of Mordniir’s dogs) and that could just as easily have been a level 40 rare if this was in place.
The problem with the OP’s idea as written is everyone will set it to level 50 and then camp in Queensdale or another such starter zone and farm. Tanking the economy.
They should have a setting where the loot is either based on your actual level or based on the area’s level.
You can do this already. Options – Content Finder – Disable Personal Story.
You can even tell it to ignore events if you’re just looking to map complete.
He said Ascended Armour Box. Armour Boxes aren’t made, they’re dropped as loot.
All ascended items are account bound, you cannot sell them.
All I’m seeing is a lost opportunity at Ascended Armour?
It costs 100g to craft the armor itself.
If you’ve done a lot of fractals, you know they don’t drop the good loot often and when it does, it’s rarely ever in the stats you want. OP got a perfect storm, good loot and right stats.
Short of Support helping him out, the only reliable way to get the right weight of armor would be to craft it. Which would cost 100g. And that’s assuming he’s got a leatherworker at level 500.
Gold Sellers: Selling in-game gold which was earned rightfully by a player(s).
Gold Buyers: Player(s) taking advantage of the benefits Gold Sellers provide.Question that arises to me is why is Anet focusing on this issue when there are plenty more to tend to?
How does this effect Anet?
Correct me if I’m wrong but the only possible logical answer I can come up with is…
Ok, say we start banning Gold Buyers and Gold Sellers. What have we eliminated? That transaction between players. What have we gained? More revenue. Players of the game will now prefer to go online or to their local store that sells gems and purchase redeemable codes for gems.
This only seems to me to be a valiant act to gain more money from the players. In my opinion.
…This is not to include players who are actual real life friends. One of the said friends is a “PvE grinder” and other is “PvP/WvW’er”. It goes unsaid who makes more money playing Gw2 between the friend. PvP friend receives in-game mail from PvE friend as result of a conversation they had in real life and now they’re both banned because they were, in a sense, “labeled”.
Good luck handling this Anet.
You do realize that gold sellers get their gold from nefarious sources, right?
Botting, hacking other players accounts to liquidate and mail off all of their gold, scamming, etc.
And not removing the ill gotten goods from the buyer, adds money to the system, increasing the rate of inflation.
And engaging in RMT is against the TOS, which all players agreed to before being able to play. So ANet is well within their rights to ban anyone and everyone who engages in RMT.
Only thing that bugs me about run speed is how it slows down in combat. I’d rather run speed be normalized to be the same both in and out of combat.
Combat speed is the normal speed. We actually get a speed boost out of combat.
And the loss of the boost in combat is to make us aware of our surroundings so that we don’t just run by everything without risk.
Okay, for starters I’m not sure what you’re talking about with this play style A thing. I said if I want to change up my build to fit a different play style, that’s really too bad. And yes, I understand that there will always be only one or two viable builds per class, but right now all of those builds revolve around a single play style. I don’t like using WoW as an example because I really didn’t like a lot of the gameplay, but they did something very right imo. If you’re a warrior in WoW, and you want to play dps, there’s only 1 or 2 different builds for dps. But if you play tank, now there’s 1 or 2 MORE viable builds that still exist within the meta of maxing out dps. In Guild Wars 2, there’s only 1 or 2 builds, but only 1 role, so there’s no switching at all. If you play a class, you’re going to play that class one of two ways, and that’s it. And that gets boring after a while.
I’m not asking for hard roles. I like how I don’t have to dig for a healer every time a make a dungeon group, and as long as you’re not a necro you can jump in to any dungeon group you want to at this point. But is it actually impossible for Anet to make it so there are build variations outside of the one or two that have perpetually been there? I want to switch up my play style without being a detriment to my team, but that’s not possible right now.
Play style A is a placeholder for whatever play style a person has.
And no it’s not possible for there to not be a meta that includes just a few builds. Because there will ALWAYS be one build (or a few builds) that just does a specific thing better than other builds. It’s the nature of MMO’s. The only way to do it is to get rid of every class except one, remove all weapon sets but one, remove all utility, heal, elite skills, to 1 heal, 3 utility, and 1 elite, and remove traits. But who wants to play a game where everyone can do literally the exact same thing and there is absolutely no variety. It can’t be better than other builds because there are no other builds.
And if you don’t like playing the meta, then don’t play the meta. Don’t ask for the meta to change just because you don’t like the meta.
Make your own groups and state that anyone is welcome regardless of build choice.
I know I don’t play the meta. I don’t have the skills for it and no real desire to get them.
It just makes builds kind of stale, it’s been a very very long time since I’ve seen a new PVE build that was better than the ones made a year ago.
Gear =/= Build. Each time they did good change to trait and skill they can create new build. Phalanx is a great example of that.
. It would be cool if healing, toughness, and condition damage meant something in dungeons, but for now they just don’t.
Condition Damage definitively. Toughness no way. Healing maybe, but not really.
And not being able to switch up your build is just not fun.
That’s on you. I use a lot of different optimal build for each situation like all the record and speed run community.
I’m aware that gear doesn’t equal build, but neither is really changing. We change builds based on situation, not on whether we want to change our style of play. That’s the real problem, if I was playing CoF and now I want to do Arah, I’ll switch things like time warp to mass invis and whatnot, but that’s not really a build change. That’s just changing abilities to fit a situation. What I’m saying is, I’m not changing what I do, just how I do it. If I’m playing a guardian and I said “I don’t really feel like running this damage build, I want to make a support build to help my team stay alive”… well too bad :P I mean I could, but strictly speaking I’m disabling my team as long as their skilled enough. I can either make a build to max out my dps, or make any skilled party perform worse because I didn’t do so. And once again, I still like PVE, this isn’t the worst thing in the world for me, I just find it unfortunate.
So someone who enjoys Play style A has to change up their play style because you hate that play style? People don’t change play styles. They change their builds to match their play style. And there are way too many play styles to count and there’s probably a unique one for every player.
Has it ever occurred to you that no matter what they do to change up the game, that there will always be just one or two builds for each class that are considered optimal? That the speed run groups in dungeons on the LFG will just ask for that new meta. Because their goal is to get through the dungeon as fast as possible. To go through as fast as possible requires optimal conditions, which in turn requires optimal builds.
And if a different gear set and/or a radically different trait set up is required for each and every dungeon, then you’ll have people only doing a handful of them. Because there’s too much in this game to memorize and no one wants to carry around or store several different sets of gear. Or be forced to play certain classes if they want to do X content because they split up the gear. Or the community will find one or two builds that does each aspect well enough for decent times and that becomes the meta.
Possibly due to the state possibly not requiring gift cards to be taxed.
Since a direct purchase of gems is not the purchase of a gift card and I believe ANet’s NA server is physically located in Texas, it does mean that ANet has a physical presence in Texas and therefore must charge players in Texas for sales tax when they buy gems directly. Even if gift cards are exempt in the state.
That would explain it.
I wonder why it just started charging the tax mid 2014 with direct gem purchases.
The page that had the information was updated in Sept 2012 so you should have paid taxes on any gems you bought from the BLTC directly. If you didn’t do it regularly, maybe you just didn’t notice. I don’t know. Only someone with ANet would know any specifics on it.

There are some very valid comments here, and addressing concerns with facts may be the best way to do this. We always try to be the most open and honest with our community, so here it goes.
<snip>
You didn’t say anything about false positives.
ANet has killed accounts over false positives. I know, because it happened to my eldest daughter. Sure, ANet undid their action on her account, but it was, if nothing else, excessively annoying to be accused and banned completely falsely.
I commonly send my wife’s account hundreds of gold, which I either earn or buy with gems. Are those transactions going to be flagged by historically inaccurate algorithms?
I’d be more comfortable with direct, honest answers to those concerns.
There is no system in the world that completely avoids false positives. (Turns out to be a mathematical certainty.) Drug tests, polygraphs, chemical assays, and RMT tests — they all result in some amount of false positives. There’s a balance among time/effort, number of false positives, # of false negatives, ease of use, and implementation difficulty. ANet, like any other service provider, has to weight the pros/cons of each element of their system and for a business, that’s always going to mean erring on the side of catching as many as possible, while suffering a few falsely accused.
So all that’s left for them is making the inconvenience to those accused as small and short-lasting as possible.
I feel bad that your family was affected, but I’m not sure what else ANet could do to avoid it, outside of letting RMTs/botters/etc run rampant.
Balance. Tricky, but a worthy goal. ANet can control RMT without resorting to baseless “accidental” banning of players.
In the United States, we have this thing called “due process”. It’s not perfect, but it’s a heck of a lot better than ANet’s autocratic rule. Now, I’m well aware that a game isn’t bound by any external national rights, and I can live with that, and even support ANet’s attitude on subjects like free speech.
I don’t support traumatizing little girl fans with false accusations. It’s bad for business, and that should concern ANet.
The daughter is now in her mid-twenties and an educated, successful pro artist. Her experience with ANet may be water under the bridge, but neither of us want to see a little girl get banned over over-zealous enforcement of rules about fake money. Gold buyers have zero affect on my enjoyment of the game; banning my daughter falsely did.
My attitude is less about past wrongs and more about preventing them in the future.
And how many stories of people released after being wrongly convicted have you heard of? I have heard of a fair number so even in the American justice system, there are false positives.
Now could they look at the algorithm to make sure that that number is as low as it can be and not let too many false negatives happen? Yes. But they can’t reduce it to zero.
If you have chests and an empty character slot, you could key farm enough times to get the keys to open the chests. That way if you do get a kit, you save gems, but you aren’t out gems or gold if you don’t.
When he hits level 13, he’ll be able to get the item.
The New Player Experience did change when you can do certain things to lower the information overload chances. And skill points unlock at level 13.
However, he can participate in combat skill point challenges as long as someone else starts them.
What level is your friend’s character?
I’m not sure what it is you’re asking, but I’ll try and help:
When you go to character selection screen, what server choices do you have in the bottom left of the screen?
I think the link you’ve provided is for customer service, rather than actual in-game servers. You should be able to choose from either an EU & NA server, or if you’re in China, a Chinese server.
The link is from what I can see, a retail, legal and customer service point of view, not actually anything to do with gameplay servers.
I thought that in the game will be 3 regions: America, Europe and other region. The other region servers will be mark by country code, for example “server name(country code)”, like it done at Europe region there is some servers for Germans and Spanish. I think they should add two more regions, South America and Asia, and put servers there. As result latency will be low, gaming will be comfortable, more people will play, more profit for the company
There are only 3 regions.
NA, EU, and China. China region has to be bought separately as it is highly changed to fit into Chinese law.
Since you are posting here, you do not have a China key, I would imagine. You likely have a key that will let you onto NA or EU.
EU region does have a few worlds designated for specific languages.
Other areas of the world do not have their own region because ANet does not feel the sales those areas would bring in would offset the costs of building a server there.
So a death penalty is added.
The super experienced already don’t die that much so the meta doesn’t change.
What will change is the divide between the super experienced and the casual play how I want crowd.
Because before while New Player’s mistake during Fight 1 cost the group DPS, New Player’s mistake now lowers New Player’s survivability during Fight 2. Making it even more likely that New Player will die if he makes another mistake. Lowering his survivability even more during Fight 3.
Your change will actually make things worse overall.
And I very highly doubt your cousin submitted a ticket and got unbanned within 1 hour. Not with current wait times being upwards of days to weeks.
And either way, the speed at which your cousin’s account got unbanned has no bearing on how fast yours will get unbanned.
I put the ticket for my cousin to see, I did not suspend the account through my fault, my cousin had problem canceled 2 accounts, mine no reason, and not playing, that of my cousin was fixed, but my account remains canceled from 22, in my mind will not let me write here.
Thanks for the help
I know you didn’t suspend the account. None of us players can suspend accounts. Only ANet can.
Your cousin’s account was suspended and is now not suspended. Your cousin can play now if I’m understanding what you’re saying.
Your account is currently suspended and you will have to go through Support to get it unsuspended. There is nothing we on the forums can do to help. Your cousin’s account having been unsuspended has no bearing on whether or not your account will be unsuspended or not.
Well, if the ticket said they would replace the precursor and you did not get a precursor from ANet but instead got a salvage kit from them, then yea, it would be a mistake.
Its quite simple:
Yes the most efficient way of running content is Berserker/Assassin.
Yes thats not terribly interesting for some. But there is absolutely nothing stopping you from running Cleric Guardians, Magi Eles, Soldier Thiefs or whatever you want.
I do not join any metazerk or AP based group, mostly on principle actually.
But I have no problem running dungeons or Fractals with whatever build I like.Conditions are different, they dont play into the Zerk only debate because conditions are just another form of damage. I am pretty sure Anet wont fix conditions to be honest. They had 3 years and they havent done anything about it.
Even if they would fix them now, it would make Anet look like an incredibly incompetent company.I personally think Anet doesnt care about conditions.
Its completely impossible for them not to be able to come up with a solution for 3 years if they even care a little bit.Why would you play a build when you know that there is another more effective and efficient build? Why would anyone not want to play the game at a most optimal way, your points is invalid.
Various reasons:
- Variety.
- Challenge in the fact that the enemy now has more time to hit you.
- You aren’t skilled enough yet in active defense to give up the survivability against the non-one hit shots.
- You find the mechanics used for the meta to be boring. And games are supposed to be fun. And fun is subjective after all.
Still not sure who has a suspended account and who doesn’t and who submitted which ticket.
You posted 2 ticket numbers. And talk about 2 accounts.
For the ticket that goes with your cousin’s account, did you submit the ticket or did your cousin submit the ticket?
I’m not understanding your post.
Is it just your account that’s suspended? Or is your cousin’s account suspended as well?
Who sent in the tickets for each of the accounts suspended?
Might be as well a software problem; “brand new” computers tend to have a lot of bloatware with dubious functionality, and I won’t be surprised if some of it “improved” your keyboard experience.
LMAO—-Seriously doubt this is the problem.
Seriously guess this is the problem. If you’re not putting in too many inputs via the keyboard Gw2 would not be dodging………period fullstop end of the story.
There is no reason Gw2 would decide to double dodge on this one persons computer. What is more likely is that he has some type of built in macro on the keyboard that makes multiple inputs per button push.
A noob owning a computer full of bloatware is 1000x’s more possible than the Gw2 code having anything to do with this.
How many computers have you built? Personally I’ve built about 2 a year for well over 10 years now.
Doesn’t mean the bloatware is the source of the problem. Or a bunch more players would have this issue as I highly doubt most GW2 players have computers that are not bought pre-built.
@Floacious: How old is the keyboard you’re using? If it’s old, how clean is it? Could you have something under your W key that’s overlapping into the Q and E keys causing it? Had the keyboard ever gotten wet?
Open a word pad file or Notepad or Word or other such program and hit the W key several times or just hold it down like you would in game. See what happens.
If the ticket for your friend’s account was submitted by you, there is nothing ANet can do. The account holder has to be the one who submits the ticket and talks with ANet.
I am not sure who sent the tickets based on what you’ve said in your original post.
- They baked a cake.
- It taste bad.
- They keep saying, it is not the cake. It’s your taste buds.
- The same people gonna bake more cakes later on.Eat – Sleep – Lag – Repeat.
(Being in an Endless Loop is so much fun isn’t it lol!)
To further expand on this analogy, those of you saying you’re lagging but not giving Support the details they need to help isolate the issue are just saying it tastes bad.
But is it too sweet? Too much icing? Too little icing? Or did the taste testers all have a bad cold and it affected their taste?
Got to give the chefs some feedback or they won’t know what to change.
So 100 of player’s PC and ISP suddenly cause lag problems at the same time? Obviously, it is not player’s problem. Its the server. The servers cannot handle vast amount of information. Fix the skill lag problem before publishing the new WvW stuff, otherwise its pointless.
And if players actually follow through and give Support the information they need (see GM Talon’s post), they may be able to help isolate WHERE the problem is exactly.
Otherwise it’s probably tantamount to finding a needle in a haystack.
He has to go through Support.
If they give him a final answer and they will say that, then he can have a friend post in the thread above to appeal Support’s final decision.
Fun is subjective.
Skipping trash mobs and fighting trash mobs are both equally valid ways to do a dungeon.
It’s like the series The Sims. There are a multitude of ways to play the game:
- Just build
- Just make Sims
- Use Sims as a medium to tell a story or create videos
- Play one save at a time
- Play multiple saves at a time, bouncing between them
- Play saves under rules designed by other players – challenges
- Make Sims with the sole intent to kill them or otherwise make their lives utterly miserable.
None of those ways are the wrong way to play. I personally don’t find building fun at all. Bores me. Quickly. But some people it’s so fun they’ve banded together with other people who like building to take on requests from players like me who hate building.
I personally think it’s a good thing that ANet allows for both skipping trash mobs and fighting trash mobs. It lets both groups of players play the way they want to play. It’s just a shame that the jerks on both sides give each side a bad name. Not saying that anyone in this thread is one, mind you.
If you’re unsure and want to wait, I would actually hold off on making any of the account bound gifts. We don’t know the method for making the new legendaries. They could use different gifts. You don’t want to be stuck with a Gift of Fortune if you need a Gift of Wealth instead. Not with how expensive t6 mats are.
And maybe it takes time to find the cause of a bug and fix it.
If it’s a bug, they didn’t rob you of the gold.
And even if it wasn’t, all purchases in an MMO are done with the implicit notion that things change and that you accept that risk.
You two don’t get it. Dungeons currently can be done by parties of 1-5 excepting a few paths where you have to have multiple people.
Why are you guys asking for what little small group content there is to be turned into solo content (let’s face it, anything tied to the personal story will be done solo by 99% of players and therefore not usable as any means of dungeon intro)?
Why can’t NEW content or new means to get the story told in the Story mode dungeons be added instead?
And if Story mode dungeon was an exact copy of any of the explorable paths that would be boring. It’s an introduction to dungeons. It’s not meant to showcase every little detail of every single path. It’s meant to give you the basics of dungeons. That to make it easy, you need a group. And that the group needs to work as a team through whatever strategy they choose to use.
And if you feel they aren’t easy mode dungeons, then please go tell that to the dungeon people who tell others that story mode is the beginner level dungeons. Because I seem to recall that every time someone suggests ANet adds in an easy mode, someone reputable goes: but that’s the Story mode dungeons.
And if dungeons force you to have full parties, then what are all of those posts about soloing or duoing a dungeon about?
I’d actually love to see the entire personal story be scalable to account for parties doing it. As well as harder mode versions.
I’m not opposed of new content being added to make the story of Arah story mode make more sense. I just don’t want it to be at the expense of Dungeons which already suffers from being largely ignored by ANet. They haven’t had any new content since the Fractured patch.
They do not need to be added to the personal story. Nor should they be.
Reasons:
1. Story mode dungeons serve as an introduction to dungeons. Highly useful if you plan to move onto explorable dungeons. Not everyone likes to just jump into the deep end. Story mode is the shallow side of the pool.
2. With the current changes to Arah Story it’s clear ANet no longer wants to force players to group together to do their personal story. This goes against the concept of dungeons as they are designed to be group content.
Both of your points are wrong.
1) Story Mode doesn’t introduce you to anything about the dungeon, not even a viable layout of the dungeon as doors and paths are often blocked and changed between all of them. Also, by having it part of the story you would still have the option to learn whatever it is you think you can learn.
2) The expectation, as described by the OP, and the only reasonable way to take the suggestion anyway, is to give all Story Mode dungeons the same treatment as Arah, making them soloable.
1. Story mode dungeons are easier dungeons than explorable. They teach mechanics used in dungeons. Puzzles need to be solved. They require team work to go through unless you have the skills. Though with the removal of Arah story, it does remove the learning that some dungeons may require other players to progress (Crucible of Eternity explorable does require multiple people due to the laser trap room). They are not an exact copy. But the shallow end is also not an exact copy of the deep end now is it? I don’t see diving boards in the shallow end and I don’t see stairs in the deep end.
2. Dungeons are small group content. You’re telling ANet to take current small group content and turn it into content designed to play solo. So few things in this game are currently designed for small groups. Just to make the story easier to follow. There are better ways to do this than to get rid of content designed for small groups.
The mailings for example could be used as a means to tell the gist of the Story mode without completely spoiling it.
They do not need to be added to the personal story. Nor should they be.

2. With the current changes to Arah Story it’s clear ANet no longer wants to force players to group together to do their personal story. This goes against the concept of dungeons as they are designed to be group content.
And no, the other Story dungeons do not need to be changed. They serve as an introduction to the harder explorable dungeons.
Arah Story was already part of the personal story.
They are now just making it not a dungeon that requires you to group up to do it. And everyone will have Arah Explorable dungeons unlocked for free by default.
So since the runes are bugged you want your money back, but if they had come out today and announced a future nerf you wouldn’t?
Sounds backwards to me.
I’d want my gold back if they had intentionally changed it. I’d just wait it out if it was bugged.
i dont like this.
for example, a month ago a friend of mine found the colossus, and i bought it from her for 600g through mail (price at the time was like 550g buy / 650g sell or something). under this system, she would have to collect over a week’s span. while my item is instantaneous. the system as you state it will be abusable. youre only going to force a currency switch. the gold sellers will buy an item worth X and send it and the listing fee to the buyer, entirely dodging your fix, because a 500g listing fee means an item worth 10kg, and no item currently has such a large value, and i highly doubt any single person buys that much gold because at that point there isnt a goal to meet. and why would they care about tp fees when the gold is most likely stolen in the first place?
cant you lean on ISPs to shut down and block traffic to gold selling sites instead?
ANet will not change the system to make player to player trades easier. They do not support nor condone player to player trades.
Through the trading post means that someone else has to buy their item or items first. Slows down the process. They know this won’t stop the accounts, but it will slow them down. Anything that slows them down slows down the harm they cause to the game’s economy.
YOU HAVE TO SUPPLY TRACE ROUTES TO THE SERVER IP WHEN YOU LAG!!
You just hit my annoyance limit bub. What part of my post describing that the lag comes and goes with gameplay, did you not understand? If I was experiencing packet loss and routing issues, it would be individual and/or regional, and it would be persistent regardless of player interactions. To be happening to over 150 WvW players from all over the world, it’s not us. Twice this year I’ve contacted my ISP and made threads on here about those other type of lag issues.
The lag we’re describing has to do with player interactions overloading the servers. As my fellow T1 players are trying to express to the Dev’s too. Shortly after reset on BG BL, I finally had to built siege on Briar just to break up the 3 way. I was afraid we were finally going to break the darn server it was that bad. Players were DC’ing and it got to the point of no more.
Not necessarily. EU suffers or suffered from a bad node that sits literally at the node before the ones that ANet owns. And a fair amount of EU players get shuffled through that Node.
The more information that players can supply to ANet about the lag (their Trace route, the map’s IP when they lag, etc), the quicker ANet will be able to fix the problem.
Stop getting on GM Talon for doing his job. And they are questions that do need to be asked.
Do you guys really want the people looking at this issue to have to sort through the people who do have issues at their own home causing their problems. Or exacerbating it.
Not everyone is as tech savvy as some of us are and may not be aware that there are things they can do at home to troubleshoot their internet. And they may have issues of their own that’s giving them lag or exacerbating the lag issue.
He is NOT trying to shove it under the rug.
Report and block the ones violating the TOS. A vulgar word here and there when not directed at someone is likely not violating the TOS.
Report so ANet can punish the ones violating the rules and block so you don’t have to see it anymore but don’t have to shut down map/say chat.
I personally haven’t seen too many bad chatters. Not enough to say that they are ruining the game. But I don’t hang out in a popular gathering spot for too long either.
I have EPIC lags on EU. And they’re trying to blame our hardware and providers, lol
Has the issue with a port that ANet doesn’t own been fixed? A different company owns that port and last I heard it was dying or going bad and causing issues for you guys in EU.
I am posting this for my friend, she can’t log in to the game and also to this forum.
She created two tickets, first seven days ago (# 1373273), second yesterday (# 1389226).Can somebody help her?
Thanks
Tell her to close down the one she put in yesterday. She just reset herself in the queue to be in line as if she put in her first ticket yesterday due to how the system handles multiple tickets from one person.
To clarify a few things~
It was indeed labeled as “Story” in the description, nothing more. I saw a few with “80’s” only for example. I presumed from what I saw that the group I chose was appropriate for my story needs.
I told the party that I was new and would be watching cut-scenes, however they may not have noticed until I got to a particularly long cut-scene between Eir and Rytlock. Of which my kicking happened. I can understand them missing my words, if you’re on the grind you’re not going to be reading chat much.
I can say I came from this experience knowing some of the dungeon etiquette required in GW2. I can now expect more similar behaviors. I wont repeat anything I find negative of course. Since I have this non conformity quirk. (I play an Elementalist Charr and pretend that he doesn’t like to conform with Charr society, I find it incredibly amusing.)
I did have a flash of hindsight after making this thread. I was in a story dungeon before this, one that was more than halfway finished. At the final cut-scene a fellow actually initiated a kick on me, (pretty sure he was just kidding around) and expressing that my watching of the cut-scene is why he did it. I ignored it as someone just amusing their self.
Now after looking back, I think that may be why I got into the group to begin with. That someone may have been watching the same long cut-scene, resulting in their kick. And this fellow was unintentionally giving me a hint to what to expect. The Party did not ask me to not watch cut-scenes, they were silent.
While it is selfish for me to expect them to wait during a cut-scene or to continue on without me, I felt it was reasonable considering the circumstances. I only wished to watch the scenes once. I Eventually found a group catering to my needs. Also I must say, the use of “bullkitten” as an expletive is wonderfully adorable.
For future dungeons you want to do, YouTube does have the cutscenes. If you can’t find a group in a reasonable time that is tolerant to your watching them.
And it does sound like your group was completely in the blame if they didn’t even ask you to not watch anymore cut scenes and kicked you during the first cut scene you watched. Especially after you said in chat that you were going to watch them.
I am glad you found a group to play with that allowed you to watch the cut scenes.
Talon, I have plenty of overhead on my system. It’s not an internet issues on my end either. I firmly believe it’s the server’kittenting 100% load and simply not keeping up. It’s obvious to me that if game play is fluid and reacting fine, then 3 map blobs collide and the lag beings, it’s a load issue on the server. It’s not client side hardware.
He’s not saying it’s not on their end.
He just wants to make sure that all players who send in reports of lag make sure they’ve investigated their end before sending it in and assuming it’s ANet.
Because there will be some players who have things like dying routers or system issue that’s causing their own personal lag. On top of or instead of the lag that’s affecting a number of players.
To find out what’s causing the lag, ANet needs to make sure issues caused by player end are removed from the equation.
So if you’ve done investigation on your end and determined it’s not your end, submit a ticket as he described.

If you have tried the solutions provided in the article and you’re still experiencing latency issues, please submit a ticket to us. From the drop-down menu on this page, please choose Technical Issue. From here, please include the following in the description of the issue:
- Your ISP
- Which data center you’re connecting to (North American or European)
- Your OS (including if you’re running on 32 bit or 64 bit)
- Whether the lag is intermittent or consistent (include times with time zones that you notice it’s worse, if applicable)
- Where you’re located (state/province)We may request additional information about your computer after this, such as a “Game Advisor”: report. To speed up our investigation time, I recommend generating a report from the Game Advisor and sending it as an attachment once you have received our auto-reply confirming that we have received your ticket. Doing this in advance will save us a communication step with you so that we may begin troubleshooting the issue with you sooner.
I think you misunderstand. Essentially every player in WvW has been experiencing an unplayable increase in lag during NA prime since the stability including patch. It’s not an issue of individual connections or computers that are incapable of dealing with the lag (unless literally everyone I speak to in WvW is experiencing the same internet and computer problems at the same time and you want to claim that it’s not a server-side lag.
What I think we were looking for was an acknowledgement that you know that this is not confined to individual experiences, computers and connections. This is an issue on Anet’s side of things, although it is only in WvW. You guys even had a ready-up today about WvW and you didn’t mention it at all. So thanks for your canned (was it canned? it seems like it’s not really addressing the issue being presented. If it wasn’t I’m sorry, but you still missed the issue) response, but please give us another response.
But they need to rule out the players that just had an issue coincidentally crop up on the day of the patch.
You do notice that he then went on to say: if that doesn’t work, then send in a ticket with as many details as you can from the following list.
That’s just the thing. Everyone I play gw2 with and even those that I just know casually is having the same problem in WvW and not in any other section of the game (incredibly unlikely). It’s not just individual players, it’s the game mode. I have experienced no lag, ping problems or fps drops in pve or pvp. I have in WvW. Same with all of the people I speak to in the game.
What I’m saying is that Anet’s response to this kind of thing (which has happened before after major patches) is to question literally every report of increased lag in wvw and I’m suggesting that they move past that arbitrary step and realize that it is incredibly unlikely to experience the lag we’re experiencing in wvw ONLY in wvw and not also in pvp or wvw. I did Tequatl today where there were undoubtedly close to 60 people in one spot attacking the same target and nothing dropped in terms of FPS or ping. Head to WvW and you get groups of 5 fighting each other and unable to do more than simply 1 spam, if that.
Maybe I have troubles understanding the internet, but when many people from vastly different sides of the country (or even separate countries) are experiencing the same thing, I tend to assume that there’s no reason to consider anything is wrong on our side of things. On the nights that it’s super laggy on the borderlands, we head to the OS and we’re all fine to fight other guilds and whatnot. Hence: I’m assuming it’s not my connection “issues”.
But there will be people who send in reports whose issue is primarily something that the knowledgebase addresses. And not due to whatever the issue is that ANet can fix.
Like someone’s router could be going bad. If they don’t do much on the internet beyond play GW2, they might not notice the lag.
They need to get the router dying player out of the equation (or at least get the dying router itself out of the equation) before they start seeing what everyone who has lag has in common.
