Count me in for the water field change now. Well I guess it would be restoring water field since I believe in Beta that was the case. Either a water field or improve Healing Power scaling to be on par with pre-nerf levels.
I believe water field would be a more desirable change since we would have a more useful field for group/counter play.
Exactly. Though it wouldn’t solve much, it would be a step in the right direction to making necromancers more viable in groups.
I’m hoping I can still incorporate my power build into the new necro specialization with a greatsword.
Ranked matches have been fun. I just hate waiting for them. But I guess that’s the trade off for a decent match.
You’re having issues with Accelerant Packed Turrets? The radius was already nerfed. You have to be practically standing right on top of the turret to be hit.
Lol. I’m sure we can expect to see this thread to pop up whenever necro pvp daily is in effect. Not op, many counters as have been listed many times.
I wonder if they would ever actually do this?
First off, I’d like to point out that this is indeed a dead topic that will never be implemented due to it going against the very design of open world PvE maps.
Having said that, I played on nothing but PvP servers back in WoW and always had a ton of fun. Sure their were griefers, but that is when you got your guild to come help and then returned the grief.
However, since playing gw2 I have really enjoyed being able to play PvE content without constantly running into griefers and toxic players. I enjoy that everyone is always trying to work together. And when I want to get into some open worl PvP, WvW has been great for that. I never have issues with queue times, I’ve ran into great 1v1 fights, had awesome “oh kitten!” moments when a zerg comes around a corner, and even some epic small scale fights with very unforeseen outcomes. For me, WvW has actually given me a better experience in open world PvP than PvP servers in WoW ever did.
As for griefers being rare, let us simply look back to this past Halloween. The good ole Maize Balm farm in Rata Sum. I could never, EVER, go into that farm area without witnessing horrible toxic behaviour. And of course griefers always went with the excuse that they were just working on weapon mastery, reports to anet achieved nothing, and eventually anet had to resort to completely shutting down the farming spot.
(Note: I agree. Then again, does a Necro leaving a water field make much sense?)
Blood is LITERALLY 98% water!
Quit yer sciencing, guldernit!
You have a really good point, but the blue splash from the well of blood would most likely bury ANet in complaints. I’d put real dollars on it.
I would be happy if they did it, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t see it happening.
I guarantee you any thought of complaining would quickly be stifled by the gratification of this buff. And let’s be honest, blue splashes of water are in no way any worse than getting a shield of light. Not to mention the skill animation already has a sort of blue water animation to it anyways.
Having played a turret engi before, I take out the rocket turret then burst down the engi. They have horrible defense against conditions, and will not pose a threat at all against long range non-projectile damage.
Nice troll post, man. Engineers have too much access to swiftness as it is.
I didn’t say anything about lack of movement speed, swiftness doesn’t decrease the cooldowns on turret skills which greatly restricts their rotational capacity.
Maybe there should be a trait that makes swiftness reduce cooldowns, so that engis can have perma swiftness, vigor and faster cooldowns if they take all of those traits.
Working as intended. However, looks like in HoT the Engineer specialization involves flying turrets.
Lol. Dem trolls.
I used to love that map. I don’t see why we couldn’t at least keep it around in hotjoins or custom arenas.
It only provides cleansing with whirl finishers or projectile finishers, of which we can only provide a 20% chance at a projectile finisher. Now sure others could provide their own finishers, but most can provide their own field to go with it. Not to mention group condi cleanse is already plenty abundant without light fields. I think we would contribute much much more with a water field.

Awesome, I’d really like to see this happen. Now if we can jjust get this idea to anet somehow….
So I pulled this thread up to see if it has been discussed before, and now I’m curious. With the nerf a while back to Well of Blood, would changing it to a water field still be considered too strong?
Are you talking about weapon swap sigils?
I can’t find many pets, seems that ANet have deleted most of them.
No just put some effort into it and you will find them, nothing in this world is free.
yes, I have “put some effort” into it, that is why I made a comment that ANet seem to have ‘deleted’ them … you get NO prompts in game, and, despite there being a few good Mr Google outside sources, the place where one used to be able to get pets have none!
I am hoping, now I have reached lvl 30, that they become available again … or do I have to be lvl 80?
Not sure what issue you are having. Made a new Ranger recently, pulled up pet locations on wiki, and went down the list taming them all. Too easy really.
Not sure why you’re having issues. The Wiki lists multiple locations for most pets, and I literally just recently went down that very list taming pets, including most of those on your list there, with no problems.

Could we possibly be getting those fabled “New weapons for each profession” that we heard words of so long ago?
Could Engineers finally get the glorious hammers they deserve?
Will they finally be able to slam some face in melee range?Nobody knows, but each of us hopes and dreams it will be so.
#HammerEngineers2015
Good news for you, Hammer, and what looks like flying turrets, confirmed for xpac.
Fishing would be nice.
I have a slightly different theory. Scarlet was trying to break free from this pre-determined destiny placed on her, but I don’t think it’s the dragon she was breaking free from. I feel as though in Omadd’s machine she discovered the Sylvari are of the Jungle Dragon. We know prior to this she didn’t want the Dream nor the Pale Tree determining who she would become. I think in her mind, she was helping set the Sylvari free from the Pale Tree by awakening their true master, Mordremoth.
Whoah there OP. Kdaddy was just replying to Tael’s WvW comments. Chill. :p
Also, do custom arenas that follow the standard set of rules not still apply towards reward track?
You do realize that as far as finding a new match goes, you can just pull up the pvp browser and manually select a match. This gives you better matches anyways. Want a match that will most likely be 5v5? Then pick a match that has over 10 players. You may have to wait until they finish their current match, but it does give you a chance to spectate you potential oponents/teammates. Or to jump right in a 5v5 find a match that has 9 players. Or to jump right into a winning match, join a match that has ecen number of players below 10.
Kinda curious now how far this thread will go before any changes are made.
Alot of changes were also brought up here.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/balance/Engineer-SPVP-Gadget-Meta-Suggestion/first
Along with the many other threads of course.
afaik, regen uses the HP of the person with the boon, not its source, making high healing power pointless for healing others with regen.
According to everything I’ve ever read and seen, it’s based off the caster’s healing power. Not sure where you got your info from.
Just 2 things I would suggest:
1) Play a mesmer before complaining. It’s much easier to beat them after understanding what they do and what they can’t do.
2) Mesmer > thief doesn’t make any sense because thiefs have even more stealth (unless you play against S/D thiefs 24/7).
Besides that stealth = enemy can cap the point.
I refuse to waste a character slot on a class that I consider cheat heavy and in need of revision. I have a eng, a necro, a warrior, a ele, and a ranger. I only PvP right now w/ the first three, still getting my ranger tactics down.
But the main point here, that everyone seems to be avoiding, is that I am requesting the DEVS to PROVE ME WRONG. By creating a “killed in pvp” tracker and publishing the results. By showing with hard numbers and inarguable proof that, for instance, mesmers die 1/2 as often as warriors.
This can be simply done by tracking each class, recording how many times they die in a given series or set of matches, or by sheer numbers, and then calculating the average amount of deaths.
example: say that 1,000,000 people play warriors on a given day. Say that all of those warriors die 3,000,000 times on that day. So that’s an average death rate of 3 per player. Now say 500,00 people play mesmers in a day. Say that only 500.000 mesmers die that day. That’s an average of ONE death per player.
And that is important. Deaths (stomps) equal points. If a class is getting killed significantly LESS than other classes, then teams utilizing that class have a small but real advantage.
To extend my example from above, if one team had 5 warriors and that team faced off against 5 mesmers (ick!), then the second team would likely have a 50 point advantage in kills alone. Not to mention the fact that since the warriors are dying MORE frequently, the warrior team is likely to be losing point control, if for no other reason than they are respawning.
I have the feeling that ONCE this tracker is created and published, we will finally see what I have been saying for over six months now. That mesmers are harder to kill in PvP than almost any other class, guardians possibly excepted.
cheers
You won’t even take the effort to play a class yourself and yet you demand that the devs undertake a study to “prove” that your anecdotal theory is incorrect?
Is there anything I can call that attitude that won’t get me banned from the forums?
^^^
EVE does this right, EVE does that right.
Then why don’t you play EVE?
Because EVE sucks.
I heard ESO is pretty bad game; not sure if that’s changed from launch.
The Elder Scrolls Online has never been a bad game.
TESO has been a bad game since launch.
I loved underwater combat. There is still LOTS of water in Tyria. Even in WvW you will be getting wet. So yes, there’s a place for an Ascended Aqua Breather. For heck’s sake how hard is it to re-purpose a skin, change it’s stats and binding, and add it in somewhere? Make it plentiful and easy to get even.
This is the kind of request that should take one person and hour or so to actually do.
- Is there monetary benefit to finishing these equipment sets? If not, Arenanet’s not going to do it.
Statements like this contribute nothing and can be ignored. Personally, I don’t see ascended aqua breathers being on their radar until under-water combat comes into the picture more. Most likely when the deep sea dragon comes into the picture as previously mentioned.
I am making an The Predator just for the cool effects. I think legendary jewelry is a completely acceptable idea. And to give people that extra incentive, just give it an effect that can be activated on demand out of combat with a cd, much like how /rank currently functions. People just want to be able to show off, this gives them the chance to show off, and it may even add a little more possibilities to people’s role play.
To break this down even more, you could make it a special /emote that activates the effect of the legendary jewelry. This effect could be somewhat incomplete and grow as players collect more of a full set of legendary jewelry. Allowing players to show off how much they grind even more.
Not sure what build you’re using, but I have no issues against Rangers using a Zerk Necro. I can dish out just as much damage from range as the Ranger can, along with having Death Shroud and Spectral armor to absorb damage. There is also ample access to chill and cripple to close the gap to get in some good dagger damage.
And V, Spectral Armor is more than just a stun breaker and 6 seconds of protection, it also generates a ton of Life Force while taking damage, and can even be used to maintain or build Life Force while in Death Shroud.
If you want to escape as a Necro in WvW, roll Norn.
So what you trying to say is to swap my Elite for a Norn Racial Elite with a 240s cd just for the leap/dash while other classes could equip any Elite Skill they prefer? Wow i’m speechless!
LOL. Speechless indeed. That may have been the worst suggestion I have ever heard :/
Never said it was a good option, but if escaping bothers you that bad, it does work. And it’s not just a leap and dash, it’s stealth as well.

I run a power build, and when we get Courtyard, I run all wells, including the heal. The fights become zerg vs zerg in tdm, so I support my zerg, and punish them for zerging. Also Lich is perfect for tdm in a power build, as the piercing auto attack will hit multiple enemies in a zerg and the #5 works as a great team cleanse and enemy strip. And focused rituals isn’t really necessary in tdm since it’s basically two zergs clashing head to head.
S/D is fun but the damage output doesn’t justify the lack of survival. And what I mean is, static discharge itself is pretty weak. Most of the burst comes from Rifle 3, 4, 5 and toolkit 3. I mean sure it’s nice to see that 4k crit, till I realize that my power necro does that on auto attack in deathshroud and can face tank much more damage in return. Zerker just doesn’t fit the Engi well. We sacrifice too much survival without being adequately compensated with damage ouput.
Lol, because Sword/Dagger be hard. ; P
Please you are not helping, there was a specific build for P/P roaming that used Adventure runes AND Cavalier stats. But instead of being a help you are just being kitteniance.
“OMG just swap rifle to pistol and there you go! It’s Magic!”
Seriously……stop trying to shove a square peg in a round hole and tell me it’s a round peg.
You’re hopeless, not surprising from your post history. Good luck with that. You’ll learn game mechanics some day.
Shaoginhttp://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Dhuumfire
Condi build. Pretty well known fact actually. Maybe actually have some sort of idea as to what you’re talking about before making crazy claim? O.o
You consider metabattle the only resource for builds apparently. In fact you’re right that that build with scepter/staff is indeed a condi build, but there are more builds possible with the dhuumfire trait. And don’t discuss like a little kid pls.
Pointed out the most common dhuumfire build, more specifically the one that was mentioned to which you responded passing it off as a power build. Stay in denial all you want, but in terms of, and let me spell this out for you, V-I-A-B-L-E builds, dhuumfire builds are condi builds. ; P

Omg it’s magic, but how!?!? P/P or P/S, still same build.
Did you read through the thread or stop at the first post? Vee Wee posted her wvw build in there. I’ll link it for you here to make it easier, but this is my last hand-out. ;P

The turrets are not difficult to destroy if you’re not running complete condi or bunker. You have three options.
- Leave the Engi and outnumber the rest of his team.
- Stay off-point and kill the Engi from range.
- Destroy the turrets then burn the Engi.
Supply crate has a nicely animated cast. If you insist in fighting the Engi on point, take out his turrets. More specifically the rocket turret and flame turret. Or if you are running a condi build, just burst him with condi damage.
Powermancer
Spectral
Terrormancer
MinionMaster
dhuumfire
and this is on top of my head builds,it have more,so Necro is in good spot.If we are talking about lack of builds you should check about Thief and Guardian sections.Power is about the same as dhuumfire, minion aint viable cuz the minions aint working, and spectral is kinda useless most of the times. So Terror and power it is, 2 builds.
ahm..dhuumfire is condi lol, power is about using DS to spike, and spectral is a more sustainish power build and MM works very well, proof is that most of the necros are MM(basically cheese build).
And Spectral is very very viable.I can one shot thieves with it and can maintain points.Necros have much more diversty than thieves for instance, when you see thief, you will know what his build just by the looks of his weapons set.You cant say it about necros.
dhuumfire is a condi trait indeed but in the power traitline. You need to be in DS to trigger dhuumfire, and your DS bar is filled much faster with using dagger and axe on mainhand. Those are power weapons, not condi like scepter. You can one shot thieves, , although other classes have much better ways to maintain a point. I have been using a tanky necro build for a while and they seem fine at first. But they lack too much stuff to be competitive. MM is not the most used build at all, I barely see them anymore these days, because the minions are still buggy. Maybe they appear in hotjoins, but I don’t play there so I don’t know.

Necro diversity isn’t bad at all. Some balance changes need to be made to sustain and general QoL, but Necro is in no way lacking in sPvP or WvW.

I believe this is what you are looking for. In the future, google is the best tool to search these forums. The gw2 forum search tool is horrible.
Dear god the kittening contest that this thread became! lol
The current meta uses grenades/flamthrower/Elixir Gun.
That is by no means the current meta at all in my opinion.
As explained above, it is the current PvE meta, which is what op is asking about.
