Commander – Jam Death [Jd]
Fissure of Woe
Fissure of Woe till the bitter end!!!!
Yeah, server loyalty still exists
I play ranger, and have to say: It’s very possible..
Capping camps you can do with your eyes closed. takes about 1 minute..
Capping a tower you’ll have to use some tactical luring to get the NPC’s down one by one.. Can take from 10 minutes to half an hour..
Capping a keep also works, but takes very very long of course.. So the odds that you’ll get zerged are very likely.. (only capped a keep once during one of my insomniac nights – took me 35 minutes)
(I’m running an AZERTY keyboard layout, btw)
Forward: Z
Back: S
Left: Q
Right: D
Strafing I do by holding down RMB and pressing left/right
Dodge: V
Look behind: W
180° turn: X
Weapon skills: 1-5
Heal: Alt
Utilties: A, E, R
Elite: Ctrl
MouseButton3: Autorun
MouseButton4: Loot (alternative to F)
MouseButton5: Call target
Looking good, I enojyed it. I’ve seen too many condi ranger vids though, I want to see some powerbuild vids!
If haven’t seen yet:

if ((MySideInWvWCnt > (SideBCnt + SomeFudgeFactor)) ||
(MySideInWvWCnt > (SideCCnt + SomeFudgeFactor)))
return;
/* Otherwise allow entry into WvW. */
Might I suggest to return a value, so that capturing code can interprete this value and give a corresponding message to the user? :P
Code snippets, always funny.. Who knew ANet was hiring..
I think you miss the point here..
It’s not about how hard it can/will be to find certain bugs, it’s just that apparently they can find the time to indulge us with stuff we don’t need (also additional coding, btw) instead of fixing the bugs that are ruining (certain aspects of) the game..
Hey RuneCrimson, it is kinda strange indeed that you seem to notice this.. Maybe the exploration XP bonus that is explaining the differences?
Nevertheless, some food for reading: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience
I have tried it a number of times with different characters I have…everytime its the same. So yeah a zerg would be like a exp bleeder.
Hate to break it to you, but NO..
If MobX is worth 800XP for lvl 80 players, than all lvl 80 players who tag the mob will get that amount, simple as that..
The same goes for WXP earned btw: Whether you capture a camp (worth 150 WXP) solo or with 50 players, everyone will get the 150WXP..
Customer : Excuse me, developer.. I have found a bug that causes the entire credibility of the system to be questionable..
Me : Of course dear customer, we’ll look into it…… some time passes …
Customer : Any update? This is getting really out of hand..
Me : Well, I didn’t fix the bug at all, but I changed the user interface, so all is looking prettier now..
Customer : ……
How long would it take, you think, before my boss fires me for acting on my own without listening to my customer? Indeed..
Now, little excercise: Replace Customer with Playerbase and change Me to ANet and re-read..
I have heard all that before but have seen different many times I have received more fighting by myself then I have fighting in groups I have seen it. If I am to get the same as I would alone then why is it different when I fight with someone or more then one? I have watched it happen more then once. I can kill a Entin by myself and get 1,000 or over I fight it with someone I get nothing or half that…never 1,000 so yeah it depends on how many people yer with. I helped kill a Vet troll and got like a quarter of what I would have alone.
Lies.. :p
You could be referring to the event reward from killing (for instance) the Champion Troll in Queensdale.. If you are there from the beginning, you’ll get gold reward.. Do you come a bit later, you’ll prolly get a silver or bronze reward..
Then, Colin in a twitch stream, stated that based on their numbers and statistics (they saw a decline in interest and in people playing the content in week 3), they were going to the 2 week updates. To support this, they hired more people and scaled up their LS teams to 4 separate teams, giving each team a longer development cycle.
These are not the actions of a failing venture. You don’t hire people. You reduce salaries, snip over time, and lay people off.
ANet (NCSoft) noticed very quickly that PvE kitties are gembags: Keep them happy, and they’ll gladly invest in the gemstore and keep the game up and running..
*It was never mentioned that NCSoft is a failing venture.. However, it is a venture that is failing its playerbase.. *
The percentage of people who never PvE (pure WvW players) are blatantly ignored, since they have no effect on the cash flow at NCSoft..
Yup, because we pay attention, see both the good and the bad, we’re “rabid fanbois.”
You don’t see the bad, you ignore it.. So yeah, fanboy!
We also talk about the problems that were in the game’s early life cycle, and how ArenaNet addressed them. Thanks for your time!
Please check out the WvW forums before congratulating ANet on addressing problems (that have been stated 12 months ago)..
I also want to close with a congratulations to ArenaNet for all of the fun they provided us over this past year. Many recent MMO’s have struggled keeping a playerbase for even that long.
And GW is losing a lot of its playerbase as well, my friend.. Get out of PvE from time to time.. ;-)
Supposed to work like that maybe, doesn’t work like that in practice.
Hmmz, I think you’re the only one then.. Could you show me a vid or something where indeed that happens? (pet doing no dmg but somehow putting you in combat)
We have had discussions about this type of thing
it certainly holds promise
It’s a long-term goal of ours to
I can’t say how that will play out eventually, nor when.
Devon being Devon again..
A mob only has to look at you or your pet for you to slow down to a crawl, the pet is awful, useless, and a burden.
Love my Ranger, HATE my pet.
Please read my post above yours..
Don’t tell me to learn to dodge because anyone who’s played sword ranger would know that it’s impossible to dodge effectively.
Eerr.. Learn to dodge?
Built-in evades in Sword#2, Sword#3
You will slow down only when you are in combat, and this happens (when triggered by the pet) at the moment the pet DOES damage! So if a mob hits your pet and you are quick enough to hit your F3 (or your pet is on passive), you’ll remain out of combat..
Solution: Stow your pet or keep it on passive..
You don’t have to do any dailies if you don’t want, of course..
If you feel like an undervalued hero when you’re killing ambient critters in a swamp, I suggest to do something else on your daily list (some WvW stuff or so)?
You can make your daily as interesting as you want (of course, given the daily options). No one said that for Krytan Event you have to roll in Queensdale, for instance.. Kryta is big, so get another Krytan map and do your events there, to get some more satisfaction out of it..
Also, do daily gatherer in Orr or so to give you some more challenge..
Yes, I’m aware of that, but I would wager there are ‘reasonable’ grounds that would permit such a macro. For one, it doesn’t provide a technical advantage. Chat is purely communicative.
There is a difference between a macro that uses 2 key strokes (or 2 skills) for 1 key, versus a dozen key strokes (11 of them from typing).
That being said, it does strike me as interesting and I would probably ask CS if they wouldn’t mind that.
Agree, it doesn’t have any direct added value, although you are letting your party members know which skill you used (so they know it’s on CD or so, for instance)..
And I guess that CS will just hide behind their ToS and show you the “one click, one action” paragraph as well..
IMO a perfectly reasonable macro would be to have a key that casts a skill, as well as a message in party chat that says said skill is being casted
e.g.
I may use guardian staff 4 and in party chat
“Casting Empowered Might”
It might sound reasonable, but you are doing multiple actions with one stroke, so against ToS..
Very badly chosen topic title, my friend..
No spoilers and no exploit btw, thief is working as intended..
Ah, that clears it up Topher, thanks.. :-)
Well, the thing is, the moment that an update is imminent, the first thing that is shutdown is WvW, so there is no possbility that people are still in WvW when the update rolls out..
One action…so making a macro that ‘Targets the called target and attack it’ isn’t allowed?
Indeed, since those are two actions:
1) Press T
2) Attack
Agreed, this would lead to abuse IMO. How many things can you cap in 1 hour with no opposition (unless they are going to let players from new builds will join your old build instance…which would be weird), not to mention what would happen in the new map instance if you capped a tower in the old map instance?
No such thing as an instance in WvW.. Or am I misreading something here?
I cant grow anymore im at max height and weight
Permanent quickness? Really? Can you spell OP?
I like the idea though to implement some new runes and such.. :-)
Echo — Enchantment Spell. For 30 seconds, Echo is replaced with the next skill you use. Echo acts as this skill for 30 seconds.
Diversion — Hex Spell. For 6 seconds, the next time target foe uses a skill, that skill takes an additional 47 seconds to recharge.
Psychic Instability — Spell. Interrupt the target foe’s action. If that action was a skill, that foe and nearby foes are knocked down for 4 seconds.
Insidious Parasite — Hex Spell. For 13 seconds, whenever target foe hits with an attack, you steal up to 39 Health from that foe.
Spiteful Spirit — Hex Spell. For 18 seconds, whenever target foe attacks or uses a skill, Spiteful Spirit deals 29 shadow damage to that foe and all adjacent allies of that foe.
Soul Leech — Hex Spell. For 10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a spell, you steal up to 67 Health from that foe.
Distracting Shot — Bow Attack. If Distracting Shot hits, it interrupts target foe’s action but deals only 13 damage. If the interrupted action was a skill, that skill is disabled for an additional 20 seconds.
I see what you did there.. :-) Ah, good old GW1..
That being said, I understand the importance of working towards a legendary
Please indulge me.. Why oh why do you HAVE TO get a legendary?
I can’t be kitten with those legendaries, tbh.. Too much RNG, nothing to do with skills, …
I still play my ranger as a main and I like it, no matter what Anet does, we are the coolest class.
Warms my heart.. kitten right we are the coolest class, unfortunately non-rangers don’t see it the same way.. :-)
Stuck inside waypoints? Nope, never saw that.. How exactly can you get stuck in a pillar of light? :/
It strikes me that, when the events were added with the update, ANet also made sure that you can remain on one map for an hour.. So it seems that ANet actually wants you to idle these events out..
No. If you wanna do PvE kittie stuff, keep it in PvE..
WvW doesn’t need carnivals, WvW needs freaking bugfixes/dev attention/…
So in your own guild group, where you are guildleader, you have a ranger. Great. Now, please among the top 20 guilds, apart from yours ofc. mention one who run with a ranger.
Its not because I lack respect of the good rangers out there, its more the fact it saddens me to realize no good guild group commander has ever found good use of a ranger above other classes. I honestly wish it was different, but it isnt. You have to move tight to move efficiently in a guild group. That doesnt suit the ranger playstyle at all, unfortunately. Especially since all main hand weapons are so weak and useless. I still, sadly, state the mere fact ranger has no utility in such a group above other classes.
Ok, now I understand your point and I somewhat agree.. I’m not guild leader btw.. :-)
You do have to move tight in a guild group, but once the attack starts, I’ll just see my fellow guardians rush in and do some mayhem, while I keep ranged and pop down barrage (stacked with might thanks to the guard buddies).
But yeah, if I ever should read in WvW that a party is looking for a ranger explicitly, that’ll make my day..
However, it’s not the rangers fault that others are ignorant as to what we CAN bring to the table..
Although, I still want to add that the one playing the profession is what matters.. I have seen lots of good rangers and bad guards, and vice versa..
Macro use in GW2 has been allowed since the beginning.
"
This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
"
Not actually “macro” by definition then, one click/stroke = one action..
i dont see this effecting wvw. I think its about open world pve maps.
Yeah, indeed.. There is still an AFK check in WvW (thank god!)
There is no downtime.
This ^^
Yeah OP, Guild Wars is a MMORPG, meaning it’s massively online over the entire world.. So when EU is napping, the NA friends start capping..
healing spring->no self heal
traps->no survivebility
lb,sb->single target without burst and barrage is suicide
1h sword->suicide, you lose control of your movement
axe->a nearly melee weapon but you need to select target. useless
gs->i think the only good weapon in wvw atm
offs->we dont have good main hands for wvw. offh axe is good, horn and torch have 1-1 good skills
muddy->root only at the first pulse, long cast
etc…
Huh? Are you really serious?
Healing Spring: Condi removal + Regen AoE + Water field
LB/SB: No Burst? Ever used #2 on LB? I Rapid Fire to a heavy armour (not specced for tank) for 10-12k.. Also, piercing arrows, ever heard of it?
Sword: Kinda agree here, I only use a sword from time to time in PvP, it’s worthless in WvW..
Axe: Nearly melee? 900 range is not that melee as you think (see Shortbow). Oh, and you have to select a target? Well, duuhh..
GS: Awesome weapon, but I only use it for #3 (to get away) and #4 (to block and move away)
Horn: #5 is a blast finisher, is very appreciated in guild “zerging”
Torch: #5 is a fire field, very appreciated as well..
Muddy terrain: Yeps, saw a thread about it in the bug subforum..
?
Ok, if indeed a dev notices this thread here and replies, then I’m sure that all those WvW threads will start appearing here..
Alas, WvW isn’t a priority for ANet.. They need to make sure they can give their PvE kitties a carnival every 2 weeks, you see..
Take a look at the best guilds combos. They run warrior, guardian, mesmer and necro. In that order.
Good to see that you find your guild to be the best, hence stating that combo.. :-/
We normally just run with tons of hammer guards, an ele or two for static/fire, mesmer(s) for veil/portal AND a ranger (me!) to take out stragglers or dazelock a single target..
You’d be amazed how quickly I can target the enemy commander and bring him down.. And you’d be even more amazed how quickly his zerg (if not a guild zerg, oc) then disperses into thin air when their commander is lying there dead with a cow on his head..
But yeah, it looks you have it all figured out..
Guild Halls!!!!
Not Ranger, they are kitten bad, kitten garbage, kitten filth…unless you enjoy being subpar…
Every post I see of you is where you are classifying ranger as subpar.. And you also always mention you have 8 classes so you sure know it..
Well, here is a pointer: Play on of your other 7 classes then and leave the ranger.. And the hateful comments about them..
L2P Kitten..
I want to love Ranger so badly, but all I’ve heard of them is that they’re really crap in many aspects of the game.
I hope you don’t let yourself being led by all those L2P rangers here who like to QQ about how bad we are and how useless our pet is and how we have no added value whatsoever?
If your Ranger is your favorite, keep playing with it.. And show those QQ what it is like to be a good ranger.. :-)
Feel free to contact me ingame for some ranger advice, plenty of hours logged on my main
I’d suggest guardian here.
Equip with a staff and with hammer, get some PVT gear, and you can be very supportive to your party while still being able to take some damage (your raw dmg output is not that much, but you have a blast finisher (hammer) (combine with a fire field for might) and you have Empower on the staff, making you able to stack quite some might on yourself and your teammates..
Solution: Disable autotarget

The amount of Necro’s in WvW right now is just plain silly… and it should tell you something in itself right there.
Agree with the conditions meta needed a look at. A very hard look at.
And if we all start making threads tomorrow like “Warrior shield has to be fixed”, you’ll see lots of warriors running around with shields.. When someone claims something to be OP, you can be sure it attracts people who start building like that..
I noticed that Air Towers remember which of your characters has opened them. So you’ll have to travel across maps and do Air Towers you haven’t done before to get your achievement count up..
"
Only functions when either the pet or the ranger is in combat.
"
I assume working as expected..
Hmmz, am I really the only one who has condition removal equipped? I seriously don’t see all the fuzz about this condi meta: just counter it, and you should be allright!
