I dno about all items for just badges, but there does need to be a alternative way to get a back piece other than running fractals. I would suggest making the vial needed from fractals to be able to be bought with badges. (or maybe change its name and add it to the MF recipes)

I’d like to start for by saying I think its a very interesting idea, adding more ways to gain War Points out side of the current ways seems like it can give some new life to WvW. What worries me is the possibility for griefing a server. Potentially you can gain 3 points for stomping a player, whats to stop the current “trolls” from suicide training to effect scores?
I know it seems like a lot of work to troll a server but they have been known to go above and beyond with supply draining, siege capping, and detracting commander tags. All of which nothing gets done about. I understand it can be hard to distinguish a bad player from some one tanking the score and may result in a wrongful banning but it can become a serious issue. Just think about how mad servers got about siege capping when that came about, now these greifers will be able to directly effect the scores of the match.
Just to clarify, this is a post to complain about the new buffs. I’m more interested in what will be done if this becomes a issue. I worry with the seasons coming up, people will be getting a bit more competitive thus much easier to troll and anet will end up with a lot of upset costumers.

Please try to keep your responses constructive, I know tensions are high right now with all the “anet doesn’t care” and “the video” but I feel this can have a very negative effect on WvW and on the off chance we get a dev to comment on the issue, I would like to keep the thread clean and inviting. They already said they won’t do this. They increased the amount WXP you get so you can rank up faster, they added liquid WXP to rank chest (though the drop rate is garbage, I got one in 40 ranks) also they said they will add a way to buy liquid WXP with (i think) badges. I don’t think that last part is 100% confirmed though.
They won’t because of griefing. Its to easy to get a tag then you can not only have a distracting tag on the field but they can endlessly spam chat. That said there shouldn’t be any suppressing in squad chat, not sure if there is or isn’t but there shouldn’t be.

Number of kills doesn’t really gauge skill. All you have to do is get in a big zerg and fight zerg vs zerg (that includes gvg because it’s the same thing).
It’s like Grand Marshall in WoW back in the day, all it was is a gauge of who can afk the most in bg’s.
Skill is a relative term. Sacrx and RG are well known in WvW, regardless of who got it first Sacrx or Indo, I feel they have the right to gloat a bit, It’s quite the achievement. Also when your talking about mass kills or tags individual skill is second to group skill and if you ever fought RG or TW, you’d know that they don’t run the stereotypical massive zerg and your still more likely to lose. You have to win fights to get all those tags.

We should be able to stomp in DS, also our downed fear should be AoE to 5 players.
They most likely have not been implemented yet. I’m sure at some point they will get around to it.

You clearly do not play WvW. Yes, you can earn everything you need for an ascended through WvW.
Then why do people need to PVE to get theirs? Just because you eventually can doesn’t make it feasible. Buying two lottery tickets mathematically gives twice the chance to win compared to one. But practically, you’re better off getting struck by lightning, whether you have one or two tickets.
No one needs to PvE to get it, you want to PvE if you want the item in the fastest way possible. As it stands now I’m 4 or so days from making 2 Ascended stakitten . 100% in WvW. Yes it will take a long time for me to get all my weapon sets but realistically the time sink to get a ascended weapon is much better then getting a amulet/ring/accessory was.
A addition to a skill/s to reveal stealth (not necro specific) My idea to have well of darkness pull players from stealth and put user on the normal 3sec reveal CD. Maybe on tick add 1 sec of revealed while in the well. For non stealth well acts the same.
What class do you play? My level 25 guardian does fine. I mean I’m not competing with true 80’s 1v1 but I can do alright in group fights. Just remember that the green arrow gets you focused, easy target to get out of the fight.

Honestly if you have no interest in using supply or siege, those are your best options. The stat increase at the end are the only universal upgrades. Putting points in supply might be nice as you get a nice 50% run boost when you pick up supply, so that could help in camps. (not sure how its effected in combat) Other than that as a full time roamer those are your best options.

Thanks for the responses, I was hoping for more personally tested data but its all good. I’ll buy the runes tonight and give them a shot. If I find anything different for what has been said I’ll update.
For those that don’t know Runes of the Traveler are:
+10 to All Stats; +2% Critical Damage Critical Damage
+15% Boon Duration Boon Duration
+10 to All Stats; +2% Critical Damage Critical Damage
+10% Condition Duration Condition Duration
+10 to All Stats; +2% Critical Damage Critical Damage
+25% Movement Speed
And Speed of Shadows is: Run 25% faster in death shroud.
Has any one tested to see if they stack or even effect each other at all? Same question for Quickening Thirst? (Move 15% faster while wielding a main hand dagger, move 10% faster while wielding an offhand dagger.)

I don’t think so, most people on WvW use Soldier items, that means they only have Power and will be doing very similar damage, maybe a small additional percentage. Only the “glass cannons” players will be doing double damage, that’s OK to me, because being one is a big risk in WvW (that’s what I call balance). Also, the siege/gates HP could be balanced too.
It would only change the meta to more PvD.

You’re thinking to situational. Some times you want orange swords to pull people off other objectives. Some times your only there for supply damage and orange swords are a non factor. Honestly I don’t think there should be any buff to players to doors. As for other siege like cannons and oil, I’m indifferent. I feel you on how much it sucks to be a condi necro and not be able to do anything worth while to cannons. As for the sPvP comment, they can do what ever, the changes in sPvP don’t have to effect WvW.
Allowing critical damage when I solo kill a ram, or solo kill a cannon would be a start, and will be welcome by most players. My point is not unbalance, but the opposite. Giving Precision players the same damage to siege is balance to me.
BTW, talking about balance, I have another idea, make a fixed damage to siege/gates, so everyone will hit exactly the same damage whatever the stats or weapon.
Having a fix damage amount is a better idea (though I doubt they would ever implement such a thing) As far as balance, it doesn’t exist in WvW and said so by devs, it was never meant to be balanced. They have to be careful when changing things that will buff players as it will buff large groups even more. (same issue/discussion on the new bloodlust addition to WvW).

Instead of working on changing bloodlust. Something they already put man hours into, spend time working on a option for GvG. Since that is the main issue with the buff yeah?
GvG is not the main issue of the stat increase the buff will provide.

That’s not true. Most front line players run Soldier, not all classes run that tanky and are still not glass cannon. A lot of players still stack high crit damage and crit. Also just by making this change players with change there gear to make better use of this. It would only change the meta to more PvD.

I know were in the “sky is falling” phase of the patch notes but honestly this happens every change. Have of us cry a lot the other try to defend it, no one knows how its going to work out in real time yet. Wait and see, it may be awesome.

The problem with allow to crit on gates would allow other builds to hit gates much harder and wouldn’t balance it out. While you have enough precision to crit often, you don’t have the 100%+ crit damage other builds have.
It does suck, its one of the reasons I do not run condi builds with the zerg.
Still can’t figure out exactly why you post score updates. I assume it’s a reason to show of your screencaps.
Don’t look at it as chest thumping, CuddleStrike and other [LOVE] post screen shots for inter-server fun all the time. The score update is just to keep the post on topic.

Which group? We had Icoa and KnT on the map. If your talking about the KnT group on the FA side, you should have taken a look at Icoa’s group. They out numbered us.

I just hope that they make it so there are natural 2v1 possiblities. Attempt to put two weaker servers against one stronger server instead of one weaker against two stronger.

When you got Yaks and Ebay going up against SoR you kitten well better be doing a full out 2v1 against SoR.
Yes and no, You have to look at what is possible. Chances are SoR is going to stomp that match so it would be in Yaks or Ebays best interest to play for a solid second place. So shooting for SoR 100% of the time forces SoR to focus you, which trust me, isn’t awesome. It would be best to play the maps as they are meant to be played, 2v1 the home BL server and then 2v1 SoR on EBG. This of coarse is if you have the population to do this.
The problem is, even if the matched servers are closer to eachother than in this example, this league system encourages the weaker servers to play for 2nd place right from the start by awarding more “points” for 2nd than 3rd. This will just make the matches even more unbalanced. Hopefully there will be some servers that don’t care about league placement and attack the stronger server, but it won’t really help unless you have 2 in the same match.
In a situation where its 1 T1 server vs 2 much lower servers, its going to come down to who gets focused less. All 3 server have enough population to push all 4 maps during prime time, JQ/BG have massive OCA/SEA population and SoR has a huge EU population. This puts most other NA servers at a huge disadvantage. I think the trick will be to make the T1 server push the other server and only help enough not to get focused.
My only hope is that the scoring system works so that a server out side of SoR/BG/JQ can win. Not that I don’t want to win, it’s just that a lot of servers are going to have to put up with a week or more of unbalanced population. For that and no chance to win doesn’t sound good for the game or the lower servers.
If they are in WvW to farm ascended stuff they are doing it wrong, it is A LOT faster to do it in PvE. And if u just do PvD in WvW it’s exactly that, PvE with less rewards.
Yes, but you can’t farm WXP in PvE. Though the ascended rewards pale in comparison, the WXP income is quite good. So you’re kinda hitting 2 birds with one stone. Well 1 and a half birds
Lawl, What I find funny about is most the “fix WvW” posts have lower the population cap on the maps.
But to answer your question, most likely not. Things like skill lag have to do with the current population cap on maps and allowing more people to join in on these battles would increase skill lag. Also silently, long queue times are a way to try and get people to move to different servers (not sure thats anets intent but thats what I would do if I had to sit in huge queue times on all maps) I’m not sure if there is more reasons but they last time they adjusted the population caps they said it caused more issues then it fixed.
It should be obvious what happened. It had nothing to do with SoR. It had to do BG. It was mentioned how hard BG had been farming Clockwork Chaos. The minute it ended, BG went back to WvW. Hence the explosion in PPT. Look at MOS for the proof. Compare it to previous weeks.

nah it is not that tw + few more guilds (mostly oceanics ones) are tanking the score to get more guilds in. by tanking the score i mean they are not showing up to look weak.

The may be true, BG’s WvW guilds have always been out there while the “pugs” have been farming. When events like this happen or end it noticeably effects our WvW population. Though with the release of ascended weapons I would guess people would still be out farming for those. WvW is quite lack luster when it comes to getting those mats unless your lucky enough to hit a good karma train.
A lot of necros run the Arah set. I think the CoF pants fit the style as well.
Personally at least 1 or 2 in build/repair mastery in mandatory.
Going 4 into supply mastery is great imo, 5 if your a commander or drop a lot of siege.
Then lastly if you use a lot of siege Siege Might/A siege mastery.
And work on Defense Against Guards and Guard Killer as you have spare ranks points.
What happened to SoR? Did they all just give up after they lost the lead? :/
Nothing changed with the participation level on SoR. We aren’t going to pull an “all-call” just to combat your “all call”.
There was no server wide “all call” this week. As far as individual guilds I can’t say though, our NA turn out has been fairly nice this week.
Tricare is right, when us T1 servers recruit we ask a series of class related questions and if you get to many right we shun you to a better more skilled lower tier. Also as a requirement for any server that comes up to T1/T2, anet implemented a mind wipe so any skill you once had was left back for the other more skilled servers to use.
You don’t see a down side because you’re not willing to. While I do agree that there needs to be more rewards for scouts and the other jobs other than zergs, just flat out boosting the rewards doesn’t seem like the best way to go about it. I would guess if it was that easy anet would have done it already…
As for more encouragement for defending, sounds like a issue with your server or communication. I don’t see this issue in T1 nor with any T2/3 server I’v faced. Maybe the issue is with you staying on a bottom tier server. Honestly I love defending keeps, I net so much more WXP and bags then I’d get following any zerg. The current meta of throw bodys at it is great for farming. I know you’re going to make some crack at T1 servers and blah blah, it doesn’t matter, if they make a change they have to keep all servers in mind not just your low pop server.
@shoufer Though Vena’s post may be worded poorly he has a very valid point. So please don’t make suggestions unless you are able to maturely handle other peoples opinions.
As for your idea, it not as easy as boosting rewards. Boosting rewards for sitting in a keep with allow people to semi-afk (afk) in keeps just to reap the rewards which sucks for people that want to really defend but its a variable anet has to factor in when making changes like that. Also your idea of “perfect” is way off, you assume anet hasn’t thought about boosting rewards? They haven’t done so, so they most likely have reasons for it.
Next issue, is having rewards for defending a tower equal to zerging would lower the amount of people actually out in the field fighting, so your idea will just start a new string of threads complaining about how everyone sits in towers to farm instead of fighting. Also a good siege on a well defended T3 keep could take a few hours, how would it be equal for the attackers to get no rewards while you bunker in your keep getting rewards every 3 minutes?
I think this is something that would be interesting to add to a trait. Something like if traited can see stealth users while in DS. I’m not really sure where you could add that with out it making 1 trait “OP” but interesting idea, not sure thieves would like it much though.
I have made posts asking anet if thes things were ever gonna be added or fixed, and have yet to get a reply.I ever tweaked my questions, asking if they were even look at thes things, and still no answers or replies. Anet is by far the Most amazing pro dodgers i have ever seen
1) GvG arena’s
2) Private commander tags, or atleast better options for commanders.Such as the ability to set it for who u want to see it, option like Server / GUILD only / Raid only / Group only.
3) Raid options, such as allowing u to creat a raid of 25-30 ppl and your group buffs only affect thos in your raid, this will also help With creating LESS BLOBS and more open field fights.
4) Fixing WvW bugs, Such as glitching threw gates, wall Climbing, and The all so famous and annoying Group invite and kick bugs
5) WvW lag and Crashes
You might want to revisit your post and remind people that the point wasn’t for discussion of the player base but for Devs to hopefully respond. People are already starting to answer the questions like the know.
well like when i fight against T1 servers they are all horrible roamers so I kind of figured lower tiers might be more fun since I like to roam.
You got to remember a lot of players in T1 build for zergs and large fights. (as we know its much more common) so most the time you will find that random guy that lost his herd. Also when a T1 server is blowing out the other servers, a lot of our fair weather players come out to get a taste of WvW. I’m not saying we don’t have bad roamers because every server does, but it’s less common to get good 1v1 fights in T1. (well at least uninterrupted 1v1s)
Out of these suggestion/questions, I would really like a official response on GvG. I think a clear response would really help, the last two streams I’v seen just get spammed with “GvG???” so its obviously a subject you should touch base on. I wouldn’t expect dates or a time frame but more along the lines of, Is someone looking into it? Or is there at least talk around the office on it? How does the dev teams feel about it?

Stop suggesting ideas that will punish players for playing together. This whole game is build around the fact that anyone can play together, buff each other, rez each other. Anet won’t implement something that is going to force punishment on players for doing something.
Also think of the trolling possibility you 10 dudes, go join them, they get the debuff now all of them are mad yelling at you….
Maps are hard to balance. Polishing takes time – much more than you would think. The current maps have great balance, and while we would all love to see something different we just need to have a little patience.
Imagine they released what they had right now and it was unbalanced: how much would you enjoy the game when one side has a distinct advantage?

You might want to elaborate a bit more if you want anyone to take you seriously…WvW has seen a good amount in “twelve” months. You act as all we got was a mastery when we got a whole list of traits, a new character progression and new content (the middle of the BL’s coming soon) Patience you don’t have, other wise you wouldn’t make another “QQ anet you suck” thread. The current WvW team seems to be quite focused on getting us new content
I don’t know about a upgrade system unless it was (maybe) a upgrade in the closest tower that effected them. Personally though, I always felt that the sentries should be able to kill yaks that come by with out guards. That said I think they should bump sentries damage up a bit (or damage to yaks) rather then nerf yaks HP, they are rather easy to kill as is.
Edit: Random idea, if sentries would proc swords on there location if there is more then 20-25 enemys within a set radius. Make the area big enough thakittens a pain to not walk through but still able to be passed with out detection.

The Devs have stated many times that they will continue to add masterys, new trait lines and expand existing ones. You have the power to decide what you do with your trait points…Isn’t it weird that the day treb mastery was released 3 people in my guild maxed it out? I would guess they aren’t the only people to do that. Save your points if your worried about future trait lines.
Edit: I already know a few people saving points for “Ram mastery” because you know its going to happen at some point….
Look up Red Guard GvG videos on youtube, they facerolled a lot of top guilds running 10-0 streaks on several of them.

Scoot isn’t referring to GvG, He’s talking about what Red Guard did while not GvG’ing. I was lucky enough to face them a few times in there last visit to T1 NA and I’ll tell you there 10-15 man group was quite the handful. They have some really good videos up of them clashing with some of the top T1 NA guilds/zergs.
I like it on my Asura. I have no regrets getting it.
You lose the swirl but the rest of the effects are there. Foot steps and fire on the arm. I just logged on and tested it.
