Weakest classes in downstate seems to be mesmer and elementalist to me.

The engy is probably the weakest cause he is easy to stomp + pathetic damage that prevents win in the downfight 1v1.

How does immunity to one stomp help? That immunity almost always ports you out of the point you are trying to hold and in 1v1 downed you still loose anyway.

Actually engineer does decent damage and can interrupt skills/stomps.

The Engineer auto attack does pathetic damage whether zerker or condition but the 3rd skill can do insane damage as a zerker and especially with the trait.

Phalanx Strength will be pretty amazing for dungeons with a zerker build and Banner of Discipline.

Using this trait and spamming Hundred Blades will pretty much give perma 25 might to your party. Especially with might duration runes next patch.

I have no idea why a PvP player would approach the analysis of every new feature as if it were intended for him or her. PvP is already the real game, but with less stuff. You figure you’d be used to not finding everything useful.

Dueling: Triumphant Distortion – Gain 3s of distortion upon killing an enemy. No cooldown.
Beast Mastery: Invigorating Bond- Your pet heals in an area when executing command abilities (i.e. your F2 skill now heals in an area)
Tactics: Phalanx Strength – When you grant yourself might, grant it to nearby allies as well. 6s of might is granted each time this trait triggers. (It works with blast finishers)

Those are the only skills useful in PvE, The first one is only really useful in WvW where it will probably be overpowered, 2nd has no information on amount so who knows if it useful for anything, 3rd is overpoweringly good with a greatsword zerker in PvE and its good anywhere.

Can someone verify my math for a second. Let’s compare the new talent (+33% burning damage) to kindled zeal (13% of your power to condition damage).

The base damage of burning is 328/sec and scales with condition damage for .25 per point of condition damage. The new trait adds 33% burning damage, resulting in 436 damage/sec (at +0 condition damage). This results in a difference of roughly 108 damage.

In order to add 108 damage to burning, you need to have 432 condition damage. That translates into 3330 power for the Kindled zeal talent. Why on earth would anyone going for condition damage ever choose Kindled zeal over the new talent? Even for power Guardians, who usually invest into Radiance, Kindled zeal is clearly the worse of the two (at +250 condition damage from 25 points into radiance, you would need 5253 power before kindled zeal is equal to the damage added from the +33% damage trait) . How does simply adding more damage to burning all of a sudden make it viable when it didn’t before?

What was Anet’s thought process behind this new ability? It seems to overshadow kindled zeal while providing the exact same end result, to boost burning damage. The only way Kindled Zeal still can pull ahead is when you go for a power build that ignores radiance (the tree that’s all about boosting burning damage) and manages to get 25 might stacks, a warrior banner and various consumables.

I thought the same thing with my Carrion amulet, signet Guardian. They should have put it in Radiance or moved Kindled Zeal to Radiance or a lower tier. With the upcoming swap sigil changes the condition damage will be way better for a hybrid than only a 33% burning increase.

Earth: Stone heart – You cannot be critically hit while attuned to earth
Explosives: Synaptic Overload – gain 3 seconds of quickness when you hit a foe with a knockback skill
Firearm: Bunker Down – Create a proximity mine at your location when you critically hit with an attack. Mines have a 10s duration, 2s cooldown (mines do not remove boons)
Domination: Power Block – Enemy skills that you interrupt have an increased cooldown of 10s (no internal cooldown on this skill, just depends on cooldowns of your interrupts)
Blood Magic: Unholy Martyr – Draw 1 condition from allies every 3 seconds while in death shroud. Each time you draw a condition, gain 5% life force.
Shadow Arts: Resilience of Shadows – Stealth you apply reduces 50% incoming attack damage (does not work against condition damges)
Tactics: Phalanx Strength – When you grant yourself might, grant it to nearby allies as well. 6s of might is granted each time this trait triggers. (It works with blast finishers)

The rest would be better not being added since they wont be used ever by anyone.

You can purchase any of the trait guides. Prices depend on tier and whether it’s new or not. So for every trait there will be an option to go out into the world and unlock it via specific content or just purchase it if you choose to go that route.

What difference does it make? We are getting 5 new grand master traits.

What amazes me is that the “IN” thing to do is make a post that offers no ideas, or interesting discussion, simply to complain and moan about which skill they mentioned.

Turrets have had great demand for fixes and changes. It is very reasonable that they would highlight them. While threads with no actual purpose or direction to positively influence discussion, such as this one, bring a dark shadow to over otherwise highlighted and positive changes. People making threads such as these should be ashamed of themselves.

Whether or not it is an, and I quote “incredibly interesting trait” is subjective, and I for one think it has potential to be very interesting indeed.

50% reflect up time by using only 2 and leaving them out for a millisecond isn’t fixing turrets and if the shield disappears if they are destroyed it would be useless.

Thief trait is completely worthless since Assassin’s Reward does the same thing but better and doesn’t scale off damage. New Thief trait will at least take the place of the worst healing trait in the game that Assassin’s Reward already currently held.

It will be super broken if the 4 second reflect lasts after pick up. You can have 50% reflect up time just by cycling Healing Turret and Rifle Turret pick ups while still having Magnetic Shield with Reinforced Shield and 2 utilities.

Mesmers are just a bad class with the same role as Thieves and only useful for Portal play that I never even see on them anymore. I’ve won 2 on 1 against shatter Mesmers before on my bunker Thief since they cannot do anything against people with weapon evades and I could do the same thing on my sword/dagger Ranger.

Thieves Guild is the weakest summoning elite in the game by far and is only made decent with venomshare while lacking allies at the cost of a venom. I would trade the Thieves for a single Flame Turret from Supply Crate.

No, the weakest summoning elite is Warband Support. They can barely take half of what the Thieves Guild can take, and they do around half the damage Thieves Guild can do.

Unload (98-114 Damage per shot. Shoots 12 shots instead of 8.)

Land Mine – Lays a Land Mine that launches nearby foes. Deals no damage. Has a very short recharge time but is only used when enemies get close.

Melee Charr
10 000 Health
Slash – Basic melee attack. Deals 400-550 damage.
Battle Roar – Grants nearby allies 3 stacks of might for 10 seconds.
Throw Axe – Ranged attack. Cripples target foe.

So yeah they have almost the same damage, more health, buffs and better CC at the cost of 60 second higher cooldown. The might stacks,vulnerabilities, and cripples should easily do far more unless the enemy sits inside the blind field and if they are in that, the Ranged Charr would use a Land Mine for a launch. The launch is 3 seconds long too and it has almost no cooldown. The melee is the only reason why the damage is lower and it kinda makes up for it with its spammable cripple throw, meanwhile the melee Thief has a hard time even hitting once after its initial Scorpion Wire. Ranged Charr does almost the same damage as the Thief.

In sPvP only bad Thieves will try to fight you 1v1, especially if you’re an Engineer. A Thief excels at “cheap-shotting” unprepared enemies and helping focus down individuals in team-fights.

Generally conditions and CC counter Thieves pretty hard, especially if you can just spam them non-stop like most Engineers can. Thieves don’t have much outside of Lyssa Runes to deal with condition spam.

This, Thieves are only good at finishing 2 vs 1s super fast and stealing empty points. Most tanky meta builds should easily kill a power Thief and decap/cap whatever point the moron is on.

Really tired of these torturous group achievements that rely on the entire server not being complete kittens. I got the dodge the pull achievement on my 2nd knight run and I haven’t even been hit once since then with over 15 runs. Yet every time I do it 20+ people manage to be pulled every single kittening pull even though it’s the one god kitten skill that it actually has. I explain almost every kitten time 2 different ways to dodge it and it can be done by any class with no vigor needed and yet they still get pulled over and over and over and over. Then you see so many people trying to melee it for some kitten reason even though it has a constant knockdown and can easily kill someone in less than a second with its 360 AoE melee attacks. I just wasn’t lucky enough to get the bugged achievement in any of my runs.

To quote from it, we say the following regarding this:

  • “This post is to let you know that glory will no longer be awarded as of a maintenance build that is currently planned for March 18.”
    • Given that we have been calling the next phase of PvP the feature build, I’m surprised it wasn’t assumed that maintenance != feature here. Regardless, the next quote fully addresses that.
  • “The glory vendor that was introduced in the December 10 build will remain until the new reward system is released in a later update "
  • “Because these rewards are being removed in preparation for the next phase of the PvP reward updates”

In nearly every paragraph of this blog post, we discuss either what exactly is happening in this build, or mention that it is not a part of the next phase of rewards.

This is why I am confused as to where the misconception came from.

How hard is to just say whether or not the 18th patch will include all the balance changes talked about for months.

Because they don’t want to reveal said changes until they’ve been thoroughly tested and confirmed to be included in that release build.

If they say “balance changes coming on X date”, the community will berate them non-stop about what changes are coming. No changes can be stated until it’s confirmed in a stable state for release – it’s the nature of software development, especially agile development/iterative design that Arenanet uses. Anything can change at a moment’s notice.

EXCEPT…WOW, the largest mmorpg, always lists balance changes in advance and gasp they have PTR to test the changes and take feed back on. So NO.

WoW has been around for nearly 10 years. You’re basically comparing an infant to a 10 year old and saying that the infant should be able to beat up the 10 year old.

This answers all questions asked in this thread, thanks.

I disagree that the orb needs to be a transform for equal play because its being viewed from the scope of only having one game mode. One day we might even get build templates.

People want to change the orb on spirit watch because there is only conquest and they don’t want to change their build/class to run an orb.

Some builds are currently unstoppable at both picking up the orb and running it to an enemy point. Even if they did die it would take 3+ enemies focusing for long periods which means they get every point.

Well, this is false. You basically can’t run Bomb Kit and Tool Kit in the same build. An overwhelmingly large % of Engies with Bomb Kit don’t have Tool Kit. Bomb kit definitely gets play, and is included in meta builds.

I’ve been running Elixir S and Toolkit together since fourth quarter 2012, and I can tell you, it’s not always been a popular choice among Engineers.

Seeing as every Mesmer you face will use phantasms from stealth to front load surprise damage, and every Thief has a few good powerful front loaded damage surprises from stealth, why is it too much for a 60s CD Engineer stealth to be potentially devastating? Stealth is inherently good.

If you get pulled from stealth, try stunbreaking to counter the Engineer’s subsequent combo. Guaranteed, it won’t be a wasted stunbreak if the Engineer who’s pulling you is good.

Are you high? 90% of Engineers use Tool Kit currently since all decap and all pistol/shield/grenade/bomb/Tool Kit Engineers all use it obviously. These two are the only existent builds outside of hotjoin and very very few change Tool Kit for Slick Shoes or Elixir R. Engineer can stealth by using Smoke Bomb before Healing Turret sacrificing 1320 health for a 3 second AoE stealth that can have the same cooldown as his heal. Either way I could care less in anywhere other than kittenhammer where Thief has the same problem or WvW.

Also Mesmer stealth is only scary if you get hit by moa since their illusions don’t spawn stealthed.

Well yeah, it is extremely clear it is trolling, when literally 1/2 of all the professions have access to stealth, and they are making a thread “crying fowl” that the engineer of all professions is OP because they can hit you from stealth, yet mentions nothing of the thief or mesmers ability to stealth mass amounts of players.

Ranger and Mesmer don’t have stealth pulls. Thieves don’t get a 3 second block from taking their pull so it isn’t in any meta builds. Meanwhile every single Engineer uses Tool Kit with every current meta build.
