Kasmeer's portal skill

One thing to note (other than gameplay purposes), our characters are supposed to be regular mesmers (and warriors, and guardians and so on), while Kasmeer is supposed to be an exceptionally skilled mesmer, which is why she was sent by the mesmer collective to investigate the tower and was able to break the spell hiding it.

That said, my guardian would also want that impenetrable bubble shield of light that Logan does at the end of CoF story..

Dry Top: random musings

About the quicksand, as mentioned already, there are what seems to be remains from a bridge. Maybe when the zephyrite ship went down some debris hit and broke down the bridge, and the zephyrite gave them some sun crystals so they can still cross while the bride is rebuilt.

About the copper, maybe it’s deep inside the mine and different techniques are needed to get it out… or maybe the whole copper thing is just a front or something, the town doesn’t seem to have all the cards out in the open yet. We do ask several questions to the residents, usually with hostile responses.

On the asura thing, if you mean the gate you see inside the inquest facility, well, it’s inquest, who knows what they were up to, but they might have had reasons not to do it all in the open. I guess we’ll wait and see.

About Taimi, it’s not just a limp, she suffers from a degenerative disease which for now it affects her legs but might spread to the rest of her body when she gets older.

- Are you injured? What happened to your legs?
- I was born this way. My legs were never strong enough to carry me very far. Don’t pity me, though. I hate pity. And I don’t need it because I do just fine for myself.

- I can see that. Can your legs be cured?
- That remains to be seen. The degenerative effects of my condition may spread to other parts of my body as I get older, but for now it’s just the legs.

- How far can you walk?
- I can get in and out of Scruffy when I need to. For example, I can walk from my bedroom to the water closet. Just don’t ask me to be your partner in a dance marathon.

I’m guessing the asura (or herself) would probably be able to make some sort of exoskeleton that would allow her to walk regularly, but I think she won’t because it would draw attention to her condition and she’s too proud for that. She only opened up about it when her golem was damaged and she couldn’t go to get the parts needed to fix it (and Braham wouldn’t go and leave her alone), and the only two times we’ve seen her walk (and limp) were in the celebration at Marjorie’s tabern and inside Scarlet’s room, both when only her friends and nobody else was around to see her do it.

Anyway to level up alts quick?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: locoman.1974

locoman.1974

Here’s the wiki that details how to get the tomes of knowledge:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tome_of_Knowledge

Anyway, other easy ways are (most already mentioned, I think):

If you have a character over 1 year old since it was created, you get a scroll of experience, that will put your character at level 20.

Crafting. Leveling a crafting profesion from 0 to 400 will give you about 7 levels, since there are 8 of them, leveling them all would give you 56 levels. You can follow these guides to level up quickly, but it might be expensive:

http://www.gw2crafts.net/

According to those guides, you’d need roughly 150g to level them all from scratch following the guides, but that’s if you purchase all materials. If you already have a level 80 (or more) you probably have lots of the materials you’ll need in the first place.

WvW/EotM: Follow the karma trains. Just log into Edge of the Mysts, look for a commander icon (or ask for the zerg) and stay with them. You’ll get lots of XP fast that way, plus some badges you can use later to get some nice gear. WvW is usually the same the night before reset, once a clear winner is decided, most people start to just doing karma trains until reset.

I’d say tomes of knowledge are a fast way, but not a very reliable one because there’s really no real way to get lots of them relatively quickly, except maybe during special events. During the festival of the 4 winds, for example, in the Crown Pavillion you could purchase Tomes of Knowledge with 300 festival tokens, which you got by doing boss blitz (which was very good to level as well).

New Map? Is this the only new map?

in Living World

Posted by: locoman.1974

locoman.1974

Right now, yes, it’s the only new area.

However, there are hints that new areas will be added later. A new category was open in the achievement panel called “Region”, with “Dry Top” being the only sub-category. If they planned on having it as the only sub-category, would have made more sense to just make it as its own category. Also there are several places that look like they might be gates to other maps (or to other parts of a bigger map) that are blocked by vines, and at least one (that I’ve seen) asura gate that while seems to be on, doesn’t lead anywhere yet.

ways to get back in the game

The guild I’m on runs events weekly, the one I was previously does as well. Some guild post their events online for anyone to come, and sometimes even send you a temporary invite for it. Check for public ones here:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/missions
http://www.reddit.com/r/GuildMissions/

Also I’ve seen guilds calling up for help on missions on LA, usually on friday and saturday evenings. You can also join the TTS, they run missions regularly so they can spawn world bosses, so far anyone can join:

http://ttsgamers.com/

You don’t need to leave your guild to join them (remember that you can be a member of up to 5 guilds), they just ask you to represent when doing one of their events.

Dungeons are run very regularly in my experience, but to get groups everyone now uses the LFG system:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Looking_For_Group

the groups fill very fast for the more popular dungeons, though, so just hang around a little if you see the list empty for a dungeon you want to do.

Where are the new features?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: locoman.1974

locoman.1974

Where are the new features? Where are the new skills? New weapons? the third heavy armor class? Judging from the posts on this forum this features are continuously requested and no one are listen. And the worst thing is that no one of the developers are saying nothing. The only thing we might assume is that we will never see this things implemented. Can we have some official statement? Can i hope for some change?

p.s. And on the new living story, i have buyed GW2 no SUPER MARIO BROS! More dungeon less jumping.

More maps and a way to make new content becoming permanent were requested a LOT on forums, we got (or started to get) those two on this release.

Remember one thing, we’re not getting an expansion where a big bunch of content and features are added to the game at once, we’re getting small periodic aditions to the game both in content and features, for better or worse it’s the direction Anet decided to take the game into, we just got chapter 1 of a year long season so we can expect to get more content and features down the road.

Which direction (lots of content and features in one release followed by a long time of nothing new added Vs. small amount of content and features released periodically over a long time) is better, it’s up to each person to decide for themselves.

For the combination you describe (would be better if we had a screenshot) I’d defintively go with phoenix.

Look at the bottom of the first page

I mean it from NcSoft so I don’t see how its not true what do you think.

Might be, might be not.

One thing to note, this does not come from NCSoft, this comes from Daewoo Securities, a korean company that basically does analisis and speculation of stocks for a particular company so that investors can then decide, based on that information, whether to buy, sell or just ignore them.

We have no idea what their sources were for an expasion in 2015, but it’s not the first time they’ve talked about one. In december 2012 they said: “we expect NCsoft to release an expansion pack for Guild Wars 2 in Europe and the US in 2H13.” (1), and in february 2013 “It also intends to launch Guild Wars 2 in China, Taiwan, and Japan. An expansion pack for Guild Wars 2 is slated for a 2H release in the US and Europe.” (2), so I while I’ll keep an eye open, I won’t hold my breath just based on that report.

Easy way to get a owl and salamander drake?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: locoman.1974

According to the wiki:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Juvenile_Salamander_Drake

there are juvenile salamander drakes in the eternal battlegrounds (WvW central map) just northwest of the blue waypoint base.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eternal_Battlegrounds#Pet_Acquisition
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Salamander_Drake_Langor_Gulch.jpg

You’re upscaled to 80 on WvW, so you being low level isn’t as relevant, and if your server happens to be blue it’s right there next to where you start in the map (if you’re not, avoid the roads and places with the combat icon on the map on your way there)

Shoulders, chest, pants and boots are the heritage set you get from HoM (GW1), glove is the radiant gloves (with the long sleeves looks just like glowing white hands), mask is the harlequin mask, mesmer starting gear. If you want one for your ele you just have to create a mesmer and choose the harlequin mask when you’re asked for it, and as soon as you finish the tutorial, it’ll unlock on your wardrobe

Cool go buy Teq weapons.

That’s a lot to choose from, hahaha.

Alright ill bite since I have to work for another two hours before playing, here are a few more.

Dungeon armor/weapons.. (there are a few of these)
Triple wurm skins
PvP skins since you can not buy the skins.

Achievement skins (back items, scarlet helm, zephyrite rucksack, etc)
Achievement Points skins (Hellfire/radiant, specially the boots)
Guild missions weapons and back items
Fractal weapon skins

Anyway, here’s my sugestion for Anet… create a vendor that also sells these outfits in exchange for an ascended token, that ascended token is created by combining 7 (4 first, then the result with other 3) exotic tokens in the mystic forge, each token is sold by a vendor on different parts of the world and each one costs 14g (or whatever 100 gems is worth that day). Each time the player purchases one of the exotic tokens, 100 gems are deducted from the gem exchange and whatever the player paid in gold is added..

There, everyone happy now..

From what I’ve read, “New character limit exceeded” means that you’ve created (or maybe attemped to create) too many new characters in a short period of time, if you wait a few minutes you should be able to create it.

As for names, well, just be a little more creative. If you want to stay within lore to create names, for example, if you want to create an Asura names Vyxxi but the name is already taken, you can always create (to give some examples), Vyxxí, Vyxxi of Dynamics College, Genius Vyxxi, Vyxxi the Golemancer, Vyxxi of the adventurer’s krewe, Genius Assitant Vyxxi, and so on.

The way to do it is to use it to either upgrade materials to the next tier or make items that use skill points to purchase one of the ingredients and then sell them.

This website tracks the most profitable ways to convert skill points to gold, based on the cost it’d take you to purchase all ingredients Vs. the price you can sell it on. Note that it isn’t failsafe, an item might be listed for sell for a higher price but might take a while to sell.

Will there be a new playable race?

in Living World

Posted by: locoman.1974

locoman.1974

I would like to see a “beats” races where you just have all the minor human like beats become playable. They can all have the same PS and racial effects because they all come from the same city and have all been effect by the same magic. Kind of like an undead races that can be any races but because they are all undead they have the same effects but different looks. So you would see Hylek, Centaur, Grawl, Ogre, Skritt, and Quaggan. Maybe Harpy and Krait but that odd these would be living with them and i am not so sure about centaur too.

You mean a “beasts” race, I guess, that would basically let you play as any of the minor sentient races (hylek, centaur, grawl, and so on).

I highly doubt it’ll ever happen because of the massive amount of work you’d have to do to make it happen. Checking on the argos’s armor gallery I counted 117 different armor sets available (39 for each weight, not counting reskins like the flame ones, single pieces like the scarlet ones or cultural armors, and not counting male/female as none of the minor races show a great deal of sexual dimorphism so they could all use male versions like Charr or Asura) that would need to be re-modeled, skinned and rigged to accomodate for a new race, multiply that number by the number of sub-races (an armor to fit a hylek would be completely different than one for a skritt, for example), and that would be just too much work IMHO.

Will there be a new playable race?

in Living World

Posted by: locoman.1974

locoman.1974

I just read what I think was the fiftheenth post wether or not a new race would be playable. Often specifying even the tengu.
There will be no new race because of the following:
1) Tengu: there is no space for this. Either the capital or their starter zone would be 95% water.
2) The new zones are all lv80 zones. No new race would be introduced in lv80 zone.
3) Anet’s MO. They wouldnt release a new race without proper LS to introduce them first.

Tengu already have the space for their capital city, the dominion of the winds, which has plenty of land (the empty square right to the west of LA):

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/9/97/Tyria_map_with_zones.jpg

Ideally they should have their own 1-15 zone, but they could also get away with them putting a boat that could take them to caledon forest (sylvari 1-15 area), and after that, the dominion of the winds is adjacent to kessex hills for 15-25 and gendarran fields for 25-35. Actually, IIRC those maps already have gates that would lead to the dominion of the winds, but they’re closed.

So I got hacked and need help getting back.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: locoman.1974

locoman.1974

If you were hacked, support usually rolls your account back to the point pre-hack, maybe you could look into that (though maybe they can’t if it’s been too long or something). Anyway, first thing you need is some gear.

First advice would be not to expect to get full exotics right away, a set of rare (yellow) quality gear, or even masterwork (green) should be enough to get you started.

How much karma you got? you can get some starting green (masterwork) gear from heart vendors, though some of it won’t be level 80 but at least it’s something. If you have enough you can go to the temples in Orr and even buy exotic gear (you’d need roughly 750k karma for a full set). Also you can get rare quality weapons for karma from cultural weapon vendors on LA and on all racial cities.

How are your materials?. You can craft some green (masterwork) or yellow (rare) gear and it’d be enough for a start. Or you might even get more mileage out of them by plain selling the materials on the TP and get yourself some gear from it. A full set of rare carrion gear would cost around 4g (including a weapon) purchased from the TP, if you go with masterwork gear (green) it’ll be a little over 1g, a full stack of iron would sell for 5g, and some materials can be sold for more.

You could also borrow money to purchase a set from a friend or a guildie (4g isn’t that much, just be sure to pay them out)

Get some friends to run some easy dungeons where your lack of gear wouldn’t be such a hindrance (CoF P1, for example, or AC P3). You’ll get gear as drops, enough gold to purchase some pieces off the TP, and on each run enough tokens to purchase at least one piece of rare gear from the dungeon vendor (don’t save your tokens to get the exotics until you have at least full rare quality gear).

Join Edge of the Mysts or WvW on thursday nights. WvW reset on fridays, by thursday night usually the victor of that week has already been decided (unless it’s a very close match), so usually you can find one or more karma trains running there. Basically they are groups that don’t bother with actual PvP but run capturing easy targets (made easier because chances are the other servers are doing the same), each target counts as an event so it’ll give you some gold and karma you can then use to gear up. As long as you stay within the zerg (be sure to use signet of the locust to run faster) your lack of gear won’t be much of an issue. Just load into WvW on thursday nights and ask if there’s a karma train going. Edge of the Mysts usually also do karma trains most of the times, load in and try to reach the commander tag if there’s one, or just ask where the zerg is. As a bonus, you’ll also earn badges of honor ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Badge_of_Honor ) that you can then use to get some nice gear.

Do world bosses. You get several greens and at least one rare piece of gear each, even if you can’t use them you can salvage and sell the resulting materials. Go to gw2timer.com to see what world boss is next and where to go to for it.

Just some ideas to help you get back on your feet.

How much gold is needed for ascended

One trick to know the materials needed, go to the wiki, find the piece you want to make (for example http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Zojja%27s_Claymore ) and then click on “show base ingredients” to get a list of what you’ll need.

Using that example, asuming you’d have to buy everything from the TP (which isn’t unreasonale to expect if you’re making more than one ascended piece at a time, one will probably use most of your materials unless you have a LOT of them stored in your bank), it’d take roughly 90g to craft Zojja’s Claymore, not taking into account the account bound ascended materials that you’d need to farm yourself (empyreal fragments, dragonite ore and so on) and the cost of exotic gear to salvage to get the globs of dark matter.

Will there be a new playable race?

in Living World

I seriously doubt it.

A new race would be something huge, not something added by surprise but something they’d hype or at least hint for a while before adding it. Also, if they ever add a new race via living story (instead of an actual expansion), I think it’d most likely be at the end of a LS season and not at the beggining, that way people that want to play as the new race would have time to level up a character (in the downtime between seasons) for the next season.

Uplevels at Crown Pavilion Boss Blitz

in Festival of the Four Winds

people organize gold runs with 80’s to farm the event as fast as possible to earn the most money/tokens/karma etc. they arent organizing the runs to level your uplevel. an uplevel is far less effective than any level 80, and you are taking advantage of every level 80 in that instance.

don’t get me wrong, i bring up levels in BB to level as well, but i don’t have the audacity to complain about the people that don’t want me there – because i understand that i am slowing their runs down and diminishing their hard word.

Take it to ANet. I bring my 80 there plenty of times and if an up-level is there, doing what is needed, then it’s just fine with me.

take it to anet? you’re the one that started a discussion about the issue lol. i legitimately don’t care if uplevels are in there or not, im just telling you why people would prefer having a level 80 over an uplevel in the instance.

You made it sound as if I had no say in the matter as an up-level. I am saying that I too play this game and support it at times with RL cash, so I have just as much right to be in there. Those who get angry and tell up-levels to leave the BB zone altogether need to take it to ANet. THAT is what I am saying.

As I previously posted, I cooperate in gold runs. I typically just run around tagging bosses and dying then waiting in mid for my gold box and extra exp. I don’t stay at a boss and up-scale it unnecessarily.

run around, tagging bosses, bringing adds to bosses that kill the level 80’s that are trying to actually kill the boss. and you wonder why people want you to leave

it’s the simple fact up-levels deteriorate efficiency.

At least 4 of the bosses (because I’m not entirely sure about Sparcus) have a path you can take to easily reach the boss and attack it without drawing attention of any add, and Kurai just doesn’t have aggroable adds in the first place, so it’s more of the person knowing how to avoid adds than being downlevel (a level 80 could also run around dragging adds and upscaling bosses if it comes to that).

That said, I’ve done boss blitz quite a bit with my uplevel thief (started at 22, he’s 50 now), both organized and unorganized, and I’ve done it both ways (staying Vs. going back to middle after tagging), and the times I’ve stayed in organized runs I’ve gotten gold few times and silver almost every time (except that one time that wiggins reset on us at 25%.. ouch), and the times we were aiming for gold and gotten silver it wasn’t because of the boss I’ve been in as it’s been always ready for the burn when called for.

I’d say that (pure guesstimates), out of the silver runs I’ve done, 5 out of 10 failures to reach gold have been because burn was called before one of the bosses (usually boom boom) is ready, 2 because of bad timing on boom boom (calling for burn right before one of her turrets appear), 2 because of one of the bosses not holding on damage and killing one before burn was called (either accidentally, like not stopping reflects on pyro, or at least twice because of a griefer intentionally going to bosses at hold and shooting at them), and 1 for one of the boss resetting (usually wiggins or pyroxis)… and actually I hadn’t heard the uplevel stay in middle rule until a couple nights ago, most organized runs I’ve had before either didn’t say anything about downlevels, or just mentioned that each group should have a balanced number of 80’s Vs. uplevel (and in the case of pyroxis were gladly taking uplevels as long as they had reflects and absorvs).

Note that I do respect when in LFG a groups asks for 80s only for taxi, if I do get in one of those I will take a level 80… but if I happen to land on a map being organized and they tell uplevels to leave, I won’t, but I’ll do my best to pull my weight.

Can GW2 be saved?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: locoman.1974

locoman.1974

Only ANet can save this game. But they need to listen to us to do that.

What group of ‘us’ should they listen to? After all, the entire community will never agree on what is the best way to address an issue.

True that.
Compromising fixes and/or content is preferred. Like when they introduced the Bobblehead Laboratory. Good for those that like it and doesn’t harm those that don’t.

For other topics its usually good to go with the majority. Problem is that many issues have multiple sides, not just black and white. Also hard to tell what the majority truly is because not everyone voices themselves here.

That’s the thing, which majority?. IIRC I read somewhere that in average less than 5% of an MMO population ever use the forums, and those who do tend to be biased towards a more negative opinion (it’s human nature to be more predisposed to look for a place to complain rather than one to praise).

For example, to use a heated debate, the RNG chests for rewards (note, I’m not supporting them, and actually I’d rather they used a less random way to get rewards, but that’s not the point), which are a general source of complains in the forums. Let’s say that anytime RNG chests are introduced, they see 500 unique accounts complaining about them on the forums… but in the same time period they see 2000 people in game actively farming and opening them (some massively as well, since we always see posts of “I opened X thousand boxes, here’s what I got” both on forums and on reddit)… which should they consider to be the majority there?.

And of course there are cases where it’s just impossible to listen to everyone… for example, the Tequatl fight… ever since release there have been people asking for more challenging content (heck, I remember posting LOOONG before the tequatl revamp asking for an increase of difficulty for some bosses, specifically the three dragon champions, tequatl, claw of jormag and the shatterer)… and as soon as it’s introduced, more people complaining about how it was too hard and should be reversed the way it was before.

Actually reminds me a bit of politics… here in Venezuela when the constitution was changed in 1999, the government was saying how it was perfect and the best and most progresive constitution of the continent while the oposition was saying how it was just a tool of the government to get power and so on… fast forward several years later, the same government is complaining about how the constitution is holding necesary changes back, it’s outdated and needs to be changed, and the same oposition is yelling about how it’s perfect as it is, and it’s the best constitution ever.

"Log in to unlock story content"?

in Living World

If you read instead of overreacting…

No, you both can’t understand context and took a single word too literally, at the expense of the entire paragraph.
I know all you have to do is log in. The point is, if you miss the event you can’t go back to it. So why have the journal?
If you’ve logged in then you’ve very likely played it anyway. The typical Living Story update can be seen in its entirety after 1-2 hours. After that you’re just grinding out enemies or mini games for rewards.

So many people have been saying, “I wanted to play such and such update of season 1 but I was too busy to play for more than like 5 minutes in the last two weeks”. This is for them and it’s a very welcome addition. I am going on vacation on the 28th until the 16th of next month. I will have to pay gems and am 100% absolutely stoked that I will get to play this as opposed to Season One where I would have missed out entirely. That is who the Journal is for.

And what if you can’t log in AT ALL? What if you go on vacation, travel for work/friends/family, take a break from the game, are a new player completely, too busy with other things in general?
Why arbitrarily bar someone from it in that situation?

If you can’t log in at all, you can still pay 200 gems (roughly 23g) to unlock it on your journal.

Which, if you ask me, is still a big improvement from what we had in S1 that was “you can’t log in AT ALL, you missed it, it’s gone, forever, not gonna get it ever again”.

Your response makes absolutely no sense…

As it stands, Guild Wars GotY, Factions, Nightfall and EotN are available on Steam. I’ve tried to hash out a number of reasons why GW2 hasn’t popped on Steam, but each possibility proves itself wrong.

I must state one thing, however: I would hope that existing owners would be allowed to activate their keys on Steam (unlike how GW1 is cuurrently implemented), or at the very least make the client free since login would still be required.

Actually makes sense considering it’s basically what anet said before release. I’ll try to find the actual quote and post it.

EDIT: found it:

Taken from here, they don’t give source but I remember reading it elsewhere before release: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2745308&highlight=guild+wars

So, basically it’s because of some change to the business term that took place after GW1 was already there.

You should have seen the “nexus” events when Tera first went free-to-play! You didn’t even have to be in the same map — I’m pretty sure the entire server got lag.

Heh.. they weren’t the only one. I remember once in WoW, a huge raid into the main horde city was being prepared by the alliance, announced two weeks earlier (so we were sure lots of people would come on both sides), and they even talked with moderators to make sure they knew and to ask if the server could handle it, they were confident it could….

They were overconfident.. during the raid it was normal to go into an empty city, walk around and suddenly go back to your corpse where you were 10 minutes ago when the game finally finished loading, and the server crashed 3 times during that time, for everyone connected, no just those around the raid. A friend didn’t knew anything about it, and was complaining later about how she was trying to do some dungeons in a completely unrelated area but the lag and server crashes made it impossible.

17.- Ques for full servers: Agree. Spamming join should just send you back to the last spot of the line. Also, when a server is full and gets a queue, AFK timeout should be severely reduced (5 or 10 minutes, tops). Getting timeout should send you to another megaserver, if you want back to the original one, you’d have to queue for it.
18.- Reconnect timeout: Agree again.
19.- Town clothes return: Depends on which one. The only ones I can remember offhand that were town clothes and aren’t available anymore were items set to conmemorate something, like the wizard’kitten for the releast of the hobbit movie, or the cap for the game release. I personally don’t think they should return, as they’re more like souvenirs of having been there at that point of time. Just my opinion, anyway. All the other ones that aren’t available anymore (that I can remember) have returned for a limited time after the wardrobe system was introduced. Do you have a specific example of an item you’d want returning?.
20.- Karma: any sugestion of how you’d think karma should be more meaningful?. As it is you need a lot of it for legendary items, let you get cool unique weapon skins, and exotic armor (also with unique skins). Personally I’d add the cultural armors to be purchasable with karma as well, but would have to be balanced so that it doesn’t just become a cheaper way to get T3 armor skins.
21.- Store festival rewards: Agree. We already got it partially with the wardrobe system, as most rewards are gear skins. One thing I really want to know is whether old materials/tokens will still be usable, I still have enchanted stuffing and stuff like that from the first wintersday, I’d like to know whether I can safely delete it or whether it’ll become useful in the future.

[Suggestion] List of general experience improvements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

1.- Unlimited gathering tools: Agree. Personally I think that the picks in general should give no advantage other than convenience at having a pick that never runs out. Personally I’d redesign how the unlimited gathering tools work, maybe something like that you can withdraw them like with the achievement skins (zenith, radiant, hellfire) so that you can have them equpped on all characters, and make the look (fire, watchwork and so on) be selectable once unlocked, kinda like the finishers.
2.- Fractals difficulty levels: agree as well.
3.- Not necesarely. I know some people that wanted the auras but didn’t like the footfalls, and crafter a specific legendary with that in mind. If all legendaries are given footfalls, they should be toggable on/off, IMHO.
4.- Living story summary/feedback: not gonna happen, at least the way you want it to be. No company is going to allow developers admit in public that they kittened or did something bad, most of what you’ll get (which we’ve already gotten in different interviews and dev comments) are things like “could have been a little better” or “I’d like to revisit that”. Also, as far as I can see, player feedback is being incorporated as it is. Of course, it does take time, so it’s not something that can be done inmediately, and not all feedback can be taken into account, specially when some feedback sometimes is a sugarcoated (and sometimes not as sugarcoated) version of “scrap everything you’ve been working these past few months, start over again, and we want it done next week”.
5.- Bind skins: might be nice don’t really see it necesary after the wardrobe system, specially since, IMHO, no way they’re going to allow you to select different looks without using transmutation charges in the first place.
6.- Bind stats: Agree, but should be something only ascended armor/weapon could do, to make it special. The way I’d see it working would be, for example, you have a berserker ascended weapon and want a celestial option, allow you to craft a celestial ascended upgrade for a fraction of the materials needed for a new ascended weapon (not a small fraction, though, should still be a substantial amount of money/mats involved) that you can apply allowing you to select between both stats. That way ascended weapons/armor become significantly more desirable past the small stat increase, without making them more powerful, while still keeping them a step below legendary.
7.- Shared bags: Would be nice to have, but TBH wouldn’t put it high on a list of priorities since the bank already has that function, and lots of maps already have at least a crafting station that doubles as a bank (I’d add more crafting stations to other maps instead).
8.- No rings past level 30 fractal: No comment, don’t do enough fractals to form a full opinion
9.- Free WPs: I wouldn’t go as far as to make free WPs to all cities, but maybe a free WP to your personal instance that you can then use to go to your racial city.
10.- PvE-PvP split: agree, specially when it comes to balancing condition damage. I’m one of those stubborn guys (comes with the age, I guess) that insist on using condition damage on PvE.
11.- Home instance node: Don’t really see much appeal there, unless it’s a T6 node, which I doubt is going to happen. I do agree that there should be something to do with the excess ascended crafting materials.
12.- Traits customization: I think more than traits what’s needed is more use for non DPS oriented builds when it comes to PvE. Some traits are ignored because they provide boosts to support or control, but the PvE metagame heavily favors straight on DPS. Hopefully the new PvE content starting with season 2 starts adressing that.
13.- Trait management: Just let us save/load builds like we did in GW1 and I’ll be happy (actually I posted on another thread on how I believe should work).
14- Combo fields: this one ties to 12, if the metagame starts getting more balanced between DPS/control/support instead of heavily leaning towards DPS, we’ll see more use of different combos other than fire (that’s the one that increases raw DPS the most).
15.- Build variety: again ties to 12.
16.- More communication: I’d like that, but with this community it also becomes a 2 edged blade. An innocent “we might look into X in the future” comment tends to end up becoming a “ANET PROMISED US X AND NOTHING YET!!! ANET LIED!!!!11ONE!!” a month or two down the road.

In my opinion, buy a full game and play it to just get a set for skin armor when you will only use for the 10 levels until you wanted to switch to a better good looking armor is a waste.

my opinion, you can do wtv you want if you can afford the time and the money for a skin. I played Gw for like 7 years with all the expansions though.

Of course, depends on whether you will only use it for 10 levels.

My guardian (first character I made at release) is still using the HoM gloves and boots, I’m yet to find others that complement his look better than those, and my mesmer uses most of the heritage set for armor (he was the second character I made).

A new race would be something huge, something they’d be hyping long before it would happen.

If we end up getting a new race during the LS, the way I see it working would be at the end of a season instead of at the beggining. For example, using the Tengu since they’re the race I’d like to see next as playable, imagine the big finale of a LS being the Tengu opening the gates of the dominion of the winds and becoming a playable race, followed by a 2 or so Lkittenus like this year’s one, which would be perfect for whoever creates a new Tengu to level up before beggining of next LS season.

Every schedule will end up with someone being left out, that’s unfortunate as it is. For example, yesterday I did tequatl with an organized group for the first time since the april 15th patch, the time it was before meant that the tequatl fight happened just as I logged into the game, and by then all organized maps were full, so it’s working perfectly for me now, but some people that were doing it before got kittened over by the new change.

Maybe, as a sugestion, make the timing change daily?. For example, if today tequatl happens at 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm, 12:00 am…, make it so tomorrow it’s at 7:00 pm, 9:00 pm, 1:00 am, and back on the following day.

I don’t think it would work with actual workload items. The infrastructure needed for remote jobs like that would be something they’d probably have to create (or at least adapt), and there’s also the legal ramifications when you get people working for you for free (not sure how the US system works, if it’s anything like the venezuelan labor laws you’d still need to pay benefits, social security, taxes and all that stuff even if they’re considered voluntary workers).

Not to mention the security risks, they’d need someone to go over everything coming and going to the volunteers just to make sure nothing that’s supposed to stay internal comes out. Just as a quick example, a dev once mentioned about probably looking into the conditions cap (just as an example, don’t mean to start a discussion about it), and there have been complains about “anet lying about promising a fix for the conditions cap!!!”.

Free transmutations for gear under level 80?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

locoman.1974

I’m both ways when it comes to this.

On one hand, my low level characters looked better before because I had a bunch of transmutation stones that I had no use for otherwise, so I felt more free to experiment with different looks. That said, I had no use for those stones because on they reached level cap, they were useless, they are not now.

Charges are MUCH easier to get by these days, a city completion gets you one when previously you would get just a stone (which became useless at 80) and the only realistic way to get the crystals was using the gem store.

That said, I’m rather happy I played GW1 and got the heritage set unlocked so if I don’t like the skins I’m getting at a particular level, I’ll just use that instead..

My concerns about GW2

1.- Won’t really comment mainly because while I do agree that in PvE balance needs to work, I don’t really see guardians and warriors THAT OP there (a well played elementalist blow them out of the water when it comes to DPS, for example), but I’ve never been really a minmax type of guy and don’t have enough experience in PvP and WvW to really have an informed opinion there.

2.- I’ll take a wait and see on that. I’m willing to stay for much longer as long as the updates are on the quality of the latest ones of season 1 (marionette, tequatl, LA attack and so on), and I’m hopeful because of the promise of them being permanent this time around. That said, I really hope something happen (either LS or expansion) that adds more races (tengu pls), maps and weapons.

3.- And what do you sugest them to do that they aren’t doing already?. Botting and selling gold isn’t exactly illegal… it’s against the game’s terms of service, which they can use to ban players (both that farm and that purchase gold), but it isn’t actually against the law in any country that I’m aware of. Mostly what they can do is to ban bots that farm gold to diminish the supply, ban players guilty of purchasing gold, to diminish the demand.

Now, what is against the law is to hack computers and use stolen credit card info to purchase game clients to bot, but other than giving the information to law enforcement (which I bet Anet already does) there’s not much they can do, specially considering that most of the people that do that are in countries where it’s difficult (and expensive) to prosecute in the first place.

4.- Partially agree. I’d like to see more specialized roles for different classes, specially a bigger role for support and healing builds in PvE.

5.- Sometime ago, I’d have agreed. Now, however, I don’t entirely agree there. Crafting 1-400 is, as you said it, mainly an alternate way to level. These days, however, there’s a whole tier of armor and weapons (ascended) that can mostly only be achieved by crafting. If you see someone wielding an ascended greatsword, for example, the only way to get it (other than extremely rare drops) is for that person to have leveled weaponsmith to 500, same with any ascended weapon or armor. There are also the packpieces (light of dwayna, chaos of lyssa and so on) that can only be crafted.

BTW, your gear looking the same at level 1 than level 30 isn’t that rare in MMOs. Most I’ve played you start getting the really good looking gear at high level in the first place, and heck, I remember in Age of Conan the gear you got at open world and trough crafting looking almost the same all the way to level cap (you could get some different ones in dungeons, but that was it).
