My Guardian, tankiest build you can have in GW2, with its pathetic 13K HP pool dies to one stunlock in 1s to 2 zerkers.

Tankiest toon/dies/1s…a zerker dies in 1s a tank dies in 1s, uhm what, what is difference then, why should i care to play bunker.

With the specialisation patch you kicked our ….. by removing vitality from the attributes, Guardian was the only class needed the Ministel Amu but you made Druids OP with it and instead of fixing druid you just deleted an amu.

Well I will tell you this when I play D/D no warrior can land me an Eviscerate, when I play tempest in that 4s that I am running around like headless chicken, I am like a pinjata that everybody pounds me

No amount of kiting can prevent this at the moment I feel like I am in Lich form the moment people see Tempest animation they switch to me..

They should really change Tempest like you drop the effect somewhere and it does not follow you, they should free us from this 4 s animation lock…..

I find it interesting that so many people here think they have more experience and insight into PvP than Chaith, who was on the winning team of the World Tournament Series…

I am also not quite sure that Chaith neutral in the subject, he plays a Hybrid with Soldier Amulet engi, it is his best interest that this amulet disappears otherwise he will have to play much more offensive (high reward/high risk) build to kill them.

Lets look to their team composition

Toker – Thief / Revenant -Glass
Phanta – normally Cele – Ele but played Revenant lately but I will accept him as Hybrid also
Nosc – Cele Necro – Hybrid
Chaith – Soldier Engi – Hybrid
Wakkey – Cele Ele – Hybrid

So their whole composition based on Hybrids and you are telling me his opinions are neutral?

Bunkers/Supports supposed to be hard to kill, but deals no damages. Reward/Risk 0% and 0%
Dps supposed to squishy, but deals the most damage and impact the game with good plays. Reward/Risk 100%/100%
Hybrid supposed to be medicore on both sustain and dmg, and shouldn’t be able to kill any bunkers even with two of them. But currently Hybrid is killing everything while being unkillable. Reward/Risk 100%/0%

I respect the fact you had reasons to disagree with ArenaNet’s decision.

You mention 0% Risk, 0% Reward is how Minstrel bunkers were supposed to be? Haha. Did you solo queue on Minstrel Druid this week and just see how many players don’t know better than to outnumber bunkers?

Keeping even 2 people from being in other fights is ‘carrying’ in this game mode. I think ArenaNet was right to remove it. It allowed people to carry a little bit too easily.

I think the pure Support role should be better supported in PvP. That can be done through better ways than increasing personal survivability (1vX) of Supports/Bunkers, which is the definition of Minstrel Amulet.

So you mean instead people playing proper Zerker/Condibomb builds to kill bunkers, it is better to have 4 hybrids and one zerker and delete an amulet.

Yeah hybrids doesn’t have the DPS or the condi pressure to kill bunkers you are right.

And I am sure you are speaking about Druids, I am quite sure staff bunker Ele and bunker Guardian didn’t become that effective with this Amu, they were the ones needs the HP not the druid.

Now that you opened the pandora’s box let’s discuss what is healthy play?

For me, for ex, a Mesmer that opening from stealth can instagib me is extremely unhealthy game play or perma stealthing Thief is also an extremely unhealthy game play.

A Guardian or Ele with the lowest HP pool classes of the game as healer survive the stunlock with Ministrel Amulet was healthy gameplay.

So we are not balancing game enemy with numbers and solid facts but we are balancing somebodies gut feeling “Healthy Game Play”?

Does Phase Traversal from Revenant got the 5CD because of the Healthy Gameplay?

First 400 to 250 HPs nerf then this, are you balancing the game with the number of whiners or with facts?

PvP: Reaper is pretty bad.

different preferences i guess… you like fighting computer ai i like to fight actual people, any reason they cant make it good for both?

They can arrange trait between PVP and PVE but I am note sure they are able to that to weapon skills, like a different cast time/after cast time for PVE and PVP.

That is the only thing can make GS a PVP weapon I think.

why not make it a pvp weapon tho? other classes can make use of their gs so why not us… all it needs is a more reliable and longer range pull and speed it up a little thats it!@@! the stuff it offers is great but they just made it way too slow to use them and not punishing enough if you actually catch someone with it for the current speed.

If they don’t break this because I think whole concept of reaper build being an AOE monster and not single target DPS I have nothing against it.

but its not an aoe monster against players….. the range is way to short for anything. an aoe monster is ele. everyone just takes 3 steps back when they see me bust out the gs and thats the end of it.. stun away lock me down slow the shi.. out of me with mesmers done, i dont even get hit by other reapers using one unless i really want to get my own hit in.

Well as I said it is not PVP weapon for the reasons you explained

They can’t buff the GS, if they do, the moment Reaper looks in their direction PVE mobs will start dropping dead.

I am not saying I am better then Nosc because I am not.

His build and blighter boon before nerf was the best prob specially for his team comp, look to the ESL 2 revenants feeding him with boons, he was like a immortal terminator.

Now that is gone, probably he will still play Signet Necro in ESL because it fits what he does for that comp but look to his twitch channel, when he play Signet Necro in yolo queue and ganked he directly logsout and switch to power necro.

Cele/Signet Necro is really susceptible to ganking and I think not a good fit for Yolo Queue but feel free to disagree I am quite happy with my build.

I playing Cele but not Signet build, I have better version, use lots of shouts/chills my friend and need the crit chance of the Cele amu, I am nearly unkillable 1vs1 and keep my ground quite a time versus 1vs1.

When people stop copying Nosc I think they will figure out.

The biggest plus side of Rev for me was chasing these pesky perma stealth Thiefs in WvWvW, how many of you were tired from their troll stop chasing them or worst get bored from their perma troll let it kill you.

Finally a class that has reveal and mobility to catch a Thief in his unlimited teleports, I am sure that hurt a the feelings of a Thief lover ANet developer.

And now we are back to square one, a Thief running away from you in WvWvW stop chasing them because we can’t have an another class in GW2 with the mobility somewhere near as Thief.

I mean did you hear anybody complain PT being OP in any context, I heard lots of Revenant complaints but none about PT, use more then twice in a row you will suffocate for energy.

This makes sense. It wasn’t meant to do damage anyways.

Sry but what it should do if it is not doing damage, it is 20 CD skill god sake and best scenario in which could land 9 hits, which rarely happens, could do 10 K damage and knock somebody down.

The thing is again purely PVP based decision, great QoL nerf for PVE, you can complain lots of thing to be OP for Revenant in PVE but PT is one them I really don’t think so.

Why do I have to leave with this nerf in PVE while one developer thinks Rev should not be mobile as Thief wuttttttt?

You what is so disappointed about the Phase Traversal nerf, is PVE, you now out PT Rev doesn’t have really good mobility and we don’t have good AOE also I was using to port target to target to tag them and get XP.

Now 5s CD I have to walk one side to other side with my 130 range on my weapons

Infuse LIght – This was again L2P thing, if you don’t attack Revenant for 4s he can’t heal can’t he but no we have to water down the game for the casuals, well if the duration is reduced then it is rightful to ask bigger initial heal isn’t because 1.8K is a joke for 30s CD.

Surge of the Mists – that is such a difficult skill to land its full damage most of the time stars will not align and you can only land 3K damage out of 10K I think there is no reason to punish a person that has a skill to land that 10K damage but whatever, specially in PVE in a scenario like you are near ledge and take huge risk to land the full damage a miscalculation and you fall down and die.

And I don’t get the Phase Traversal thing why developers are so obsessed to make the Thief most mobile class in the game, they reckt the Ride The Lightning that way also. Did you look to the energy cost of Phase Traversal, if a player spams it, it gimps itselfs. I am telling this is just nerfed because Thiefs can’t runaway from the Revenant. I am wandering how much a Thief developer has to do with it?

I think for single person damage Reaper didn’t increase too much damage.

I think Reaper is at the moment an AOE monster, cleave is crazy and has a crazy sustain with Blighter Boon, which I think can only be the only think that ANet can nerf with internal CD.

A Repear/Blood Magic/Spite necro is really tough to kill.

Yesterday, thx to Dulfy, I unlocked the Herald for my Revenant. After the initial adrenaline rush and happiness, i discovered some odd thing about it.

If you try to use this Elite for the rest of the HoT until you will get more Hero Points you will have no heal, no utilites andno Elite if you use the Herald stance.

None of other classes suffers from this, if I discover my Tempest Elite spec, I can still use Signet of Restoration, my cantrips, etc, I don’t have to use shouts, I can still access to old stuff…

With Revenant I have black boxes at the right side of the GUI.

I mean until very deep into the jungle, it is not feasible to use this Elite, play and get a feel during extension content.

I have no idea how they can fix this but this is really a “Faux Pas”.

Tempest is a dream-come-true for Earth / Water / Arcana Bunker Support Celestial Staff Elementalists in sPVP. Replace Arcana with Tempest: no more wasting dodges to proc Evasive Arcana and constantly switching attunements to maximize benefit from Arcana.

With Shouts instead of Cantrips, you now remove 2 conditions (instead of 1) per utility slot. You also get Protection, burst heals, and Auras – all of which Cantrips lacked. You get an Armor of Earth 2.0 (Overload Earth) every 20 seconds, and it doesn’t even take up a slot! Vanilla Bunker Ele was always immune to crits in Earth attunement, but now your utilities give you enough healing, cleansing, and protection to pretty much never need to switch out of Earth! If you get grossly outnumbered, you still have the good old Unsteady Earth to cover your escape while you switch into Water to recover. Except now you also have Overload Earth to hasten your escape! (It is unfortunate that Lightning Flash must be sacrificed, but one cannot have everything.)

In a team fight, both Fire and Air have excellent damage options. And everything your Shouts give you can be SHARED TO 5 ALLIES! All that protection, heals, regen, vigor, condi-cleanses, etc.

And if you want swiftness, you have Earth 2 into Air 5, Air 4, and your Overloads.

Constant source of Regen, Vigor, Protection, and heals. Immune to crits. Practically immune to conditions. Respectable access to damage, swiftness, stability, and stun-break.

Field tested – pretty overpowered bunker! Just…no Lightning Flash.

Yeah you can camp all the time in Earth and what do you achieve with that in sPVP?

You can stand on the node longer before die? Is you stay in earth you can’t heal yourself and your team, you can’t give them boons.

Popping every 20s Earth Overload is for you good use of Elemantalist class.

Only useful builds for Tempest are the ones that include air and fresh air which at least lets you use it every 5s or so all the other traits lines if you are interrupted 0.5s of the Overload you have to sit and wait for that attunements 20s, even that you go water and healing way, you can’t pop that much auras for your team mates to heal them more then Heals Per Minute of D/D Ele with 20s CDs on attunement switch.

I even didn’t start unlocking Elite Spec of my Ele, which my main, in PVE. Revenant, Reaper, Chrono are much more fun and its seems Scrapper will be also Cele God.

Hello ,

Open world events are quite easy solo. You just have to dodge the obvious animations / use invul / stab.

Champions are quite easy to solo , like any champion solo the key is understand the mech they use and adapt.

Group events (skill points)/Champion may take one or 2 – 3 try but are doable solo.

Legendary Champions are the only one i couln’t do solo wich is fine i think.

I’m a Pvp based player and it’s the first time i appreciate the pve content cause i finaly can use the game mechs (dodges , los , damage mitigations , blocks, reflect , burst).

I hope arenanet won’t do the mistake they did with the first gw2 and nerf mob AI into the ground making the game unchallenging.

Nb : To all those who have problems start with a mixed gear : Def/zerk and learn to dodge obvious tells , disengage when they cast huge AOEs, etc… . If you like to play with your feets and your neigbour cat controling your mouse , just don’t play Hot.

I can fight the champions toe to toe just fine, but what are you gonna do when the full cheese 4 minute timer runs out regardless of what gear you use? That’s what I’m annoyed about, if anything I could do with more difficulty.

Isn’t it this golem thing. yeah I fought with him with full berserker gear, I could bring him to %70s and 4 min timer resets. Then I waited to see will somebody else will come so we can do it together, 30 min waited nobody appeared then I go to the Halloween farming instead of wasting my time.

Unplayable Solo

I am trying to do Hero points to unlock the Elite specs.

It is difficult to understand how this above/below things works but when I try to run these places, the roads are full of mobs, if I am not perma stealther it is not even possible to reach to the point from the amount of aggro you will get.

If you can group up with five people you can reach there but it seems it is not even possible to find 5 people to group up on the maps.

And OP is right, I was shocked there are so few people in the maps to make the group Events and in this is in the first 3 days of the expansion, I don’t even don’t want to think about what will be after 6 months. They will be deserted areas like starter zones.

Again a huge investment of development time for the areas people will never visit after first char, MMO developer never learns I guess.

It seems I have to level all my chars masteris in WvWvW.

And this expansion hates melee classes so big, in BWE2 beating the last dragon like boss at the end of event chain was possible with my Reaper, at BWE3 they changed something if you try to melee this guys you melt to burns, it doesn’t matter how much cleanse you bring , you cleans one, it is applied again, in the same time a staff Ele can nuke from distance no prob.

I have no idea the classes with no range option, Revenant I am looking to you, should do there, I am not even sure Hammer is ranged weapon or not, 1200 range on a Hammer?

We still have d/d ele spec to fall back of tempest wont workout fot us. D/e spec will still be the strongest even with the release of new spec

After 3 years of exactly the same spec a lot of people get bored though. That’s why I’m gonna change to Revenant main in HoT, so much new fun stuff.

Exactly my thoughts, every gear for my Revenant is ready, I will main Revenant until something relevant happens with Tempest. Reaper, Chrono, Revenant are so fun there is no need to play same old Ele.

Godly D/D is still there, if I miss him, I will comeback to it.

So basically you’ll only play a spec or class if it’s confirmed to be more or less overpowered by the majority of the game’s community? not trying to attack your position or anything, but it’s odd to me that people choose to play only the strongest and most meta things when we have such a large pool of possibilities that allow for a high degree of creativity, and the builds that we can create can be on par with those meta options.

You don’t have a choice if you want to play an ele in pvp because you enjoy the class. There is only d/d water+arcane+cantrips, there always only was. And after 3 years of playing that spec – 1 year where elementalists were so extremely bad you got flamed for bringing one into unranked pvp – things get boring.

Exactly, I play this class for 3 years, during none of this time there wasn’t two viables specs for two environment (D/D for PVP and Staff for PVE), what is cripple Ele most the developers fear to introduce anything in Ele that might make OP because it is such a tough profession to balance.

It is hard to believe people who are designing Reaper/Herald/Chrono is also designing Tempest which feels so dull.

With Revenant, there is so much to discover a new way to play, not in the same level but Reaper and Chrono also.

I just bought one wrong armor with dungeon tookens, created a CS ticket explain very nicely ask it is it possible to do something about.

Support guy, while being clearly explicit that he is doing only because it is my only request about such a subject and will never do it again, mailed me the gear with the stat combination that I wanted.

May be you would get lucky also.

Overpowered Passive Traits

So I was looking through the Revenant traits to see what the meta is probably going to be (PvP wise) and I came across the kind of trait that makes me reluctant to invest a lot of time in this game.
‘Eye for an Eye’ – When disabled by a foe with [CC] taunt that foe and gain protection
An even stronger version of ‘Mirror of Anguish’ (from the passive mesmer chaos traitline), completely passive and very strong in a PvP/1v1 situation. This kind of trait is cancer. It doesn’t require any sort of play to activate and it gives a chance for bad players who can’t dodge CC to be completely forgiven, and even get rewarded for being bad by having an opportunity to land a burst no problem if the opponent has already popped their invuln. Why the heck would you design a mechanic that not only forgives, but rewards players for being bad? Absolutely horrible trait.
Unwavering Avoidance – Gain stability after you dodge
Again, essentially passive so when bads random dodge but fail to actually dodge anything meaningful they gain passive stability which makes it harder to punish for wasting their dodges. Dogkitten trait.
ANET Please for the love of god stop designing traits like this, they literally ruin the game

You are aware that trait has kitten ICD which I will never take, a master trait to get 5s protection for every kitten , reeally…..Dwarwen Battle Training, putting weakness on enemy every 10s and reduced weakness effectiveness, specially against pesky Necros, the other trait has no chance.

And the 2nd one, you are aware that is the only available source of Herald to access stability and Revenant has no access to vigor for endurance generation, if it will just dodge to get stability, he will melt in nano second.

He is speaking from WvWvW in which there is no balance, with the infinite gear customization, food, different working sigil/runes, yeah Engi is quite effective in WvWvW and Ele is not as OP as PVP in WvWvW.

After HoT Reaper will be AOE terminator, if there will be any content with lots of mobs that you can stack, Reaper will rock, crazy damage, unbelievable sustain.

I you go to their AOE you will die, practically if neither of you makes a mistake, it can kill the other one.

Save your RTL always to disengage, heal to full return to fight, he will do the same, when he is low, he will CC you and heal to full or go to stealth and heal.

Ok, Ele player here, I you don’t bait my cantrips, with shield bash you have only one stun, if I have armor of earth or lighting flash I will be out of your burst.

If only mace would not have 130 range, you had a better chance.

There are 2 hard counters to D/D Ele I think, one is Signet Necro, it will win the war of attrition the other burst shatter mesmer if it can land it burst.

For Ex, when I play my Warrior (without Rampage cheeese) I have bare to none chance to burn down D/Ds sustain.

When you say it, I guess that is one of the problems of the concepts of Tempest.

Ele got its buffs with attunement swapping, fury, regen, protection, swiftness, might for sitting in attunement youdon’t get anything.

We still have d/d ele spec to fall back of tempest wont workout fot us. D/e spec will still be the strongest even with the release of new spec

After 3 years of exactly the same spec a lot of people get bored though. That’s why I’m gonna change to Revenant main in HoT, so much new fun stuff.

Exactly my thoughts, every gear for my Revenant is ready, I will main Revenant until something relevant happens with Tempest. Reaper, Chrono, Revenant are so fun there is no need to play same old Ele.

Godly D/D is still there, if I miss him, I will comeback to it.

I am going for Retribution/Devastation, I like to use Invocation instead of Retribution to use some tankier version to increase crit chance with Invocation tricks but without Retribution and any other source of stability I feel myself like a ping pong ball in Revenant.

Hi guys,

I am normally PVP player but after posting the following topic ‘http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/professions/mesmer/Chronomancer-build-for-BWE3’ and getting awesome answers, I was quite intrigued from the following aspect of the chronomancer.

So, you can do something like quickly summon some illusions pop continuum split. Quickly use mimic, well of recall, well of action, well of eternity, time warp, continuum shift, mimic, well of recall, well of action, well of eternity, time warp. Of course, its suggested you save time warp for another continuum shift since it has such a long cool down. However, this rotation gives 28 seconds of quickness, 28 seconds of alacrity, gives a bunch of healing, removes 6 conditions, gives 24 seconds of slow, provides chill for 20 seconds, and does a little bit extra damage. Most fights don’t last this long, so its best to utilize your skills and rotations to save cool downs based on the length of the fight. However, this shows you can easily make actions 50% faster and reduce skill cool downs by 66% for a full encounter on your allies. By doing this, in another thread, it has been calculated that it is theoretically possible for a chronomancer and 4 eles to out dps 5 eles. Same applies to other group compositions, eles just provide the most standard dps out of the classes.

Normally I used the Mesmer only PVP so going out and trying PVE was new to me, I try to use the above mentioned combo in HoT jungles.

Ohhh men, that was big struggle, to be able to use the combo defined by the XStein you need 3 clones to shatter to get enough Quickness, the problems in the all big scale fights that you can try to pull this combo Boss AOE kills the clones/phantasm much quicker then I can spawn them.

So for the people using clones in the PVE, how are you keeping them alive?

Complain about burn guardian proves only you are bad player. Against burn guardian there are 2 things you have to watch, don’t attack when they are blocking and dodge their torch 4 attacks.

If this 2 actions overwhelms you should not PVP in GW2.

Turret engi was annoying because of the knock backs and tons of condi which you can dodge all or cleanse all, none of the classes builds you mentioned can do such things so often.

From my understanding, he was illustrating how he cleansed some of their condi bursts but not so much the direct damage. The amount of cleansing he did kinda confirms that. He wasn’t complaining about burn guards.

I know for a fact that you are WRONG about the class builds he mentioned not countering turreteers. I’ve personally melted the engie and their turrets with a staff ele and condi trap ranger.

Maybe you’re the one who shouldn’t pvp. You cant even comprehend what others are saying.

When Turret Engi was Turret Engi, you could not kill its turrets like a breeze, like it is now that was the problem.

And the thing he is trolling, his advertising like playing burn guardian can give left and right free kills. Yes, you can kill bad players but to kill competent people with burn guardian you have to be really good.

Burn guardian is soooooo squishy.

Noooo noooo and nooooo….

Because of that internal CD and it pain it caused for 1 year, when I go to a match with my Ele people asked me to switch toons because Ele was such a free kill…..

So no, give us 4K more HP then we can speak about it.

If you want to solo sustain, staff is not the right choice, staff healing comes from other people blasting your water fields (you can blast your self but staff has a low amount of blasts).

If you want to solo survive in PVE, go with D/D it has the most action per second for Signet of Restoration and never use the active heal of the SoR.

Does this trait has 1s ICD or the tool tip on gw2skills is wrong?

The reason I ask, when I am inattentive or just didn’t figure out I am against burn guardian, when I use a multi hits skill, like cone of cold or 100ed blades it loads crazy amount of burns, like 4 to 6K per tick burns.

Either this thing has no 1s ICD or there is a bug with multi hit skills.

I got to HJ for the classes I want to practice, I am not super good with Mesmer, Engi…

Going to solo queue with those classes seems unfair to my team mates.

Yeah but you don’t get reduced heal as Scrapper when you get protection isn’t but Revenant get reduced heal.

Weird thing is it does not fit in line with Revenant in Dragon Stance for itself.

Revenant with Marauder amulet will be awesome Roamer in PVP but not so team fighter, so in my opinion buffing other people will not be that relevant for PVP.
