I know that Condi Reaper is getting popular in the raids, I start seeing some video saying it is viable but if I understand correctly how the chill works in the raids, for ex, I am condi Repear, my chill does damage, but lets say another class that can apply chill but can’t deal damage with chill can override my chill (like Revenant for ex) and my damage will be negated and probably my Repear damage output will be hit also.

Worst if there are 2 condi reapers, only one of them can deal damage with Chill while it is not stacking on intensity.

So if these both assumptions are correct, isn’t it better to run instead of this

yes, we will loose chill damage but in a not ideal raid group, which will overwrite our chill damage, we will loose it again, we will also loose the whirl finisher in the RS but that is a nice spike damage but every 20s I think it is not that relevant to overall damage output.

With the 2nd build we will get an extra 3 stacks of Torment and 2 stacks of bleeding, most importantly Shroud 1 will be ranged. With the first build I can almost never use the RS1, specially not at VG, I am most of the time in the range group and have no time to stay at melee and use that stuff, but I can use DS1 range and make burning on that skill relevant because most of the time on range group, I go low on health because of the orbs and necro not having knockbacks and I have to stay in DS not to die and that means I am doing no DPS, 2nd build fix this also. Another factor, sometimes range groups does not get that much help with the might stacks, I think this build can give nice might stacks without group support.

What do you think?

PS. Does “Close to Death” boosts also condi damage?

Nemesis dropped the hint in his last video that the Warrior is the class most benefits from Alacrity and Quickness provide from Chronomancers.

Probably he means reduced CDs for Berserker skills and reduced cast times of the weapon because of the perma quickness.

I guess there lies the problem, without perma alacrity and quickness warrior will not be that powerful so the solution is to make other classes synergies that good with Chronomancer.

Example, all Rev DPS nearly comes from AA chain and Alacrity does nearly nothing for a Rev.

Stat removal from trait line was no way for build diversity, it was exactly the opposite.

ANet accepted the fact they can never balance several builds, that was their hopeless try to reduce class 1 or 2 viable builds and balance those.

Before there were more diversity, you want to proof look to the bunker Guardian, before the stats removal it would get to a nice 15K HP with trait stats and it was viable with cleric gear, now with the removal of ministrel, how many bunker guards do you see.

12K HP for a bunker, with todays burst/condi spam you will die in 1s, how many bunker guardian do you see in sPVP, it is either DH or burn Guardian, 2 viable builds

It is same stuff with Ele, with full bunker D/F Tempest or Fresh Air D/F Tempest, what else do we have, D/D gone, S/F gone, Staff gone….

It is most boring META of the GW2 I know, men pre specialization I was playing Signet D/D ele while it was different, now every Ele is the mirror copy of the other.

If you stay Reaper’s melee range when he is in RS, you are looking for trouble my friend.

Yesterday, a thief had fun of me, when I was out of RS he is perma stun locked me, when I was in RS, he just teleported around waited I was out of RS and I could not do a kitten thing about it.

Just don’t blindly spam your skills, when Reaper in RS pop all of your Torment skills and kite him and watch him kill himself.

It must be bug, Elementalist Scepter 3 was like that when you activated it procced confusion several time, they fixed now it only does once.

For Rev, I created a thread about this during BETA weeks, no reaction no acknowledgement no denial, nothing.

So nobody knows it is intended or bug.

It is specially bad against PU condi mesmers, when I see them, I turn away and go somewhere else.

Thats not how it works. U don’t get damage for being in another section, you get damage for being close to any of them (it’s a big 1200 range circle aura around them). By having all 3 together at the same place, if you are 1200 range near of that place you’ll be kitten d.

That might has been me. Usually the first CC on phase 3 is needed when you have the boss facing the next section, so at the same time you get 3 seekers (and 1 comes from the next section, behind the tank). The skill 5 from shield is used there to remove a bit CC but mostly to knocback that annoying seeker before people moves in.

Hmm, I didn’t know that, I thought the damage is coming because we are entering the area that is not corresponding to our color.

Anyway the group would not have to stay this area more then 2s, only during the chain application of the epidemic.

Normal groups spends around forty five second to kill 3 guardians, copying all the condition from red to blue and green, and copying back all the conditions from blue (there must be some conditions on the blue created from power classes, bleeds, burning, etc) with condition damage of necro, should reduce the kill time significantly for just staying 2s in AOE damage.

And I am not sure about Gaurdian Shield, the guard popped the consecration bubble and shield bubble and let us pure DPS instead of breaking the break bar, but may be I am missing something there.

I am trying to convince my guild to pull the Blue/Green/Red Guardians to middle so I can Epidemic them to reduce the kill time and also a 2nd necro copying all the condis back to Red, but I could not make them try once because it is not standard strat

I had no problem having burst builds but with only condition, they should actively land their skills.

It should not be this Malyx/Shiro Revenant turn Banish Ench, Unyielding kitten and Elite and everything dies,
Or Chronomancer places Well Precognition and everything evades or Well of Action and everything slows.

If you pay attention, that forms the %80 of a META team, they just don’t have to land any weapon skills to be effective, just turn these toggles, then you are golden.

I missed the active play style of D/D, all the other professions in this game is boring for me.

All of them you use big CDs and use Auto Attacks then after, until they come off CD.

With D/D there was always something to do, now with Tempest, I feel like a headless chicken running around in circles in next 5s.

Funny thing, any other class locked to the animations gets evades (I am looking to you sword 3 rev or 4 from sword/pistol thief) but Tempest must be punch bag for that 5 s.

I just fought a tempest with my reaper. just a minute ago.
I was at close to defend it why we lost the mid after a hard fight.
I capped the close and then that tempest comes.
I was unable to call for help why I was alone in close and all my team members was fighting in mid already in 4vs4.
I find different situations like that, expecially against a good team.

I tried to hold close but all I had tried was useless. I use Carrion and my direct damage is low and not enough to overcome his passive+active heal to take him down 90% HP.
I tried everything, every kitten ed skill I have to take his HP down. I succesfully taken his hp to 80% 1 time and he just actived his main heal, healing at 100% in a moment while I was unable to stop him why he had stability.
He just stayed immobile, with no need to move, spamming random skills and overcharging all his skills easy why I had not a single chance to stop him out of 2 stun immediatly breaked out by his skills.
When I was near to take him under 90% hp he just activated a weapon heal or an aura, granting him 1000-2000 hp, turning back to full in a moment, making all my work useless.

He killed me without the need of move. Literally.
When I was near to die an ally comes to help but nothing had be enough to kill him why I dropped downed after some seconds why conditions (a large amount of burn) and direct damage (with all that might also a celestial tempest can deal high direct damage).
The time I was downed, my ally was doomed to die why he was unable to fight in 1vs1 a tempest, expecially a tempest with more or less all his skills ready why he don’t needed to active so much of them to kill me.

NOw TELL ME THAT A SIMILAR GAMEPLAY IS A GOOD GAMEPLAY AND THAT DIAMOND SKIN IS NOT TO NERF!!!!

THERE HAD NOT TO BE A SINGLE kitten ED TRAIT THAT MAKE YOU ABLE TO COUNTER NOT ONLY A BUILD BUT A ENTIRE CATEGORY OF BUILDS!!!!!!

Seriously: how can you be able to take a single kitten ed trait and then be able to fight 1vs1 without reciving damage and killing the enemy so easy that you seriously don’t need to move and just to spam come skills and overpoer your attunements, dealing high damage and granting all the kind of boons you want???

In a big team fight that also is a problem why half of the time no one focus on a tempest why it’s a total loss of time why if there’s another tempest or a druid he will stay up to 90% hp for a very long time, making you unable to inflict conditions and reducing the efficence of more than 50% of builds to 0!

Ds for itself isn’t the best GM trait of all the time, the problem is when you combine that trait with the Tempest, making auras give you heal, granting heal everywhere and auras like you’ve never seen before.

The COMBINATION of Tempest and Dimaond Skin is to nerf.

i will be happy if I was able to still inflict CC condiitons why with that I will be able to catch him and deal my damage, and I want to be able to inflict conditions like Vulnerability and Weakness why the first will grant me the chance to not inflict damage by itself but increase my damage over him (and for example a reaper can’t stack vulnerability without stack chill, making that thing not exagerate) and I want to inflict Weakness, to reduce his direct damage and protect me (for the example of the reaper, is more or less the only defence he have against direct damage classes).

Make the DS protect from all the damaging conditions but let me still inflict CC on him (cripple, immoblity, FEAR) , Vulnerability and Weakness. But still protect from Burn, Bleed, Torment, Poison, Confusion.

That will make the ele still protected from conditions but at last make me able to fight him if I’m a Condition Damage Class.

And to who say that it’s the counter to all that condi spam, you already have a counter: Guardian Bunker with Shout.
If you want to fight without a shouting guardian in your team and with few condi removal in your build don’t pretend to be protected by conditions.

Well I don’t sympathies with him.

If I play my Reaper with a gear that has power in it, no D/F Tempest can stay at %90 HP, and I play my Reaper with Celestial, they can’t even stay at %90 at it against it also and forget about with 900 Power.

You should be able to survive until Tempest blows all of its CDs then he is a dead fish, if you are using Necro build with 0 self sustain, I am sry you are looking for trouble in todays META.

If you trait it, you can also have perma-stability in Berserker mode for Warrior and if you endurance Signet (which I can I have one open slot) better then normal endurance generation.

And the Shiro endurance generation is limited with energy management, the rest again skill-less passive procs.

Uhmm, actually Rev doesn’t have more survival abilities then Warrior.

Malyx/Shiro has 2 heals with 30s CD one for 6K heal the other initial 1.8K and if not stun locked another 5K if it deliver all hits so theoretically 6K on 15s CD, 4K heal/invuln from shield 5 on 25CD and another 4K/invuln from auto proc on 25s CD, so we can say every 15s it get 10K heals.

The build I mentioned above has 2 invulns endure pain and auto proc EP on 60s CDs, Signet heals 361 and defense trait for 351 for every 3s, 5415 for every 15s and 1755 every 15s so 7.17K every 15s.

Ok it seems Rev has 3K more sustain then Warrior at the moment but Rev is better because 3K more sustain or because of the utility skills and the Elite that I mentioned.

So if scissors beats paper...

I rune a power hammer revanent rune of strength and 94% crit chance with air and fire sigils. I take down people in team fights fast though i get countered by anything thats decent in 1 vs 1.

Ive had matches were people didnt come after me and im like a pew pew ranger on steroids so thats always great. When people realize its me doing all the damage i get targeted and i pray to lyssa a chance to land 1 or 2 big hits.

Hammer Revs are the first thing I look for the solo queue, they are devastating if let to free cast

hahaha it is so much fun. Im currently running a pure glass rev and i literally stand as far away as possible. They attack the DH or necro who is usually fighting at the circle and im trying to hide in a corner.

I had this DS ele rage and tell me i was crap cause i landed a 8k hammer with both air and fire sigil go off on him and literally drop him in 1 hit since everyone was focusing him.

This game makes you mad but it definitely has its really fun moments when you want to run a gimmicky build.

Yeah, it takes time solo queue teams to find the target the focus, but competent pre-mades will make your life hell. Hammer Rev can’t do to many things if people sits on him.

Yesterday, for fun, I was experimenting with a Warrior build.

Berserker with sword/sword + axe/shield with Viper gear, I figured out it if i take discipline/defense/berserker it should be quite decent specially with quickness when I switch to berserker mode, which makes the landing the sword burst skill quite easier.

Actually it was awesome, I was getting 3K burns, nice bleeds, torments and nice power damage also.

Then I was thinking how similar the thing felt to Malyx/Shiro Revenant, instead of insane Torment ticks, I had insane burn ticks.

So I started asking myself, then why warrior sucks but Revenant is so awesome, then the light goes on.

To deliver that burns, bleeds, torment I have to land all my weapon skills and burst skill but a Revenant should only toggle 8, 9 and Elite then they have all their confusion/torment stacked.

Other then mace skills (they really even don’t have to land the axe skills), there isn’t really that much they have to do, just toggle things on then watch people die.

I think same is true to certain level for mesmers also, place the wells on the top of the people and then face roll.

I think this is the reason GW2 PVP is so boring at the moment, all the META classes/build, they are just there to reduce to skill factor and let the toggles do the work.

It is clear for me know, if GW2 PVP will be attractive and balanced, it should go away from this toggle mentality and go back to skill factor, which means if you can’t land your skills, you can’t do anything to the opposing player.

A skilled ele will not easily die to 2 people while perfectly maintaining their diamond skin in a 1v1 scenario, specially versus condi spammers. You must be playing above your MMR if people can easily kill you when you are using the meta auramancer

There, I too can fall into fallacies, and as you can probably see, it will take us nowhere.


Conditions are OP on the stronger side, nobody denies that, specially reapers. That is just another issue that has to be tackled as well, because we don’t play the game in a vacuum. Diamond skin is also in a poor state, you also can’t deny that if you do care aout game balance’s health.

Right now we are pretty much a joke of PvP because nobody wants to admit whats broken and what isn’t. Your attitude is not helping the game’s PvP, it is only making it be more of a joke, as if we already weren’t!

I already gave my constructive criticism, I want the game to succeed, thats why, as an Ele main I want to point out whats holding us back, so that we might reach a better state of the game.

The thing is you are saying it is bad, you are not counter proposing something.

I will say this, if anybody will change/nerf Stone Heart, when they are at it they should change the Overloads.

I am sick and tired running left/right while channeling Overload like headless chickens. It is so against the concept of Ele, sightseeing for 5s and doing nothing.

Let the Overloads be fire and forgets, start it and do something else, change attunement, anything, then we can discuss your proposal about Stone Heart nerf.

And what exactly that youtube video proves, both guys running the Overload without stability and instead regen/vigor, in any 1vsX they will be stun locked and die in nano second.

And before Elite specs, if 2 D/D Cele will fight against each, the result will be exactly same, a fight that go for forever.

The problem with your proposal, if Diamond Skin sucks, which in my opinion sucks already, a GM trait that has no effect other then that %90 HP threshold, what would you take as GM.

Stone Heart, I stick to earth no more then 2s in fight, then it is useless, written in stone, do we have any valid Signet build that worth taking this trait.

I take Diamond Skin because there is no other viable trait that help me me out, it helps me in first 5-6s of the fight, then it drops in any case. Give us more viable earth GMs then lets discuss this again.

What you say might be true for solo queue, but with coordinated burst of a team, Ele can’t keep that %90 HP threshold, everybody playing bunker builds in solo queue and can’t dent that %90 HP is not Ele’s fault.

Doesn't this makes more sense for Raids.

I mean, lets accept it Staff DPS Ele is a fire bot other then occasional switch to Air for Air Overload, that mean that 190 precision is not always there and there is no reason to be in the air other then Overload.

We will loose that 190 ferocity and bolt to heart but will get Bountiful Power, considering you nearly have all the boons in the game during the raid that mean at least %14 more damage during the whole encounter and not only that %20 from BtH under %50.

Plus you have to cause one additional stack of burning every 3s, 2xarcane shielding (super duper usefull when casting Meteor) and %15 more boon duration.

Don’t you think this setup should perform better?

Priority with Malyx/Shiro Rev

I know this build became FOTM but I have difficulties to figure out priority system.

How are you using this build?

Are you spamming Banish Enchantment and Unyielding Assault and wait the enemy destroy itself or you wait the moment you need resistance then use this skills and fight with your weapon skills?

Or turn on and off continuously the Elite for burn and resistance.

Because those don’t have CDs, it difficult to understand from stream how people using it.

The trick is after you get used to kill speed of Zerker Staff in PVE, you can’t switch back to a tankier build.

Tankier build I kill thing in 10s zerker Ele 3s, I can’t stand anymore that 7s difference.

Other then knowing what to dodge I am using 2 tricks to survive with Zerk Ele, when there are lots of mobs around, first I always stay in my Lava font, 2nd have that trait you cast Lava font when you are downed, that 2 things will always rally you .

When you are against Bosses, you have to avoid red circles and dodge there is nothing else to do.

Ohhh, I rarely use Meteor, only if I am absolutely sure that I am not going to hit with anything during that 3s, for that reason I love Chronomancers so much during the raids who are giving perma quickness, making that cast 1.5s.

Uhhm, normally I like your threads Supreme, but what under powered class they are playing.

2 x Shiro Malyx/Rev
1 x Scrapper Engi
1 x Auramencer Tempest
1 x Signet or Chill Reaper

Those are exactly apex builds for those classes isn’t?

And the way Abjured, first they are good players, there is no doubt about it and I watch their streams, they personally like each other and friends, one of the team that are together longest, so they know each others tendencies.

In my opinion, most of the time they beat other team by out rotating them, instead of killing them….

This what we got, that is what we have to play. We are playing for 200 000 $ here and we will do every disgusting thing to earn that money.

This thing is boring, do you think ESL sponsors will continue to pay that money for 5000 viewers in Twitch channel.

With that number of viewers, this will go max 3 seasons, then there will no money again.

If you will have a product that everybody enjoys and gets the viewers numbers, it will go for 5 years.

Do you remember the argumentation when the Ministrel Amulet was removed (and bunker Guardian screwed), Healthy Game Play.

Well I think, if there are no double standards in this game.

Bunker Chrono and Shyro/Malyx Rev should disappear in a fastest possible way.

hello.
the attuned infused rings allow you to put one versatile +5 or +7 infusion in one slot (you can buy those in fractals).
the other to slots are for those very globs you are talking about.
if you have an artificer profession, you can combine 2 +1 agony infusion with 1 thermocatalytic reagent to become +2 agony infusion and so on.
only thing you need is 2 agony infusion of the same level plus the catalyst to increase 1 level.
it takes time and is exponentially expensive to craft it, but you can potentially cover the 150 agony resistance required for level 100 just with trinkets and rings

Ok I can understand the 2 +1AR but what is the purpose of 9 +1 AR or why it became 8 +1AR when I try to apply to the ring.

Normally I PUG the fractals, they are never on my priority list, when I am bored from other game modes PVP, PVE, raids, etc…

Lately I joined big active guild, which are regularly running fractals but naturally they are way above my fractal level.

Now when I want to join them, they are normally running fractals 60+’s or so and my AR is not high enough. I have all the ascended trinkets, backpiece and weapons, I have not enough gold for ascended gear.

So my AR is 40 and is not enough, then they told me, there are now 7 AR infusions, Ok then I have 56 AR, still not quite good enough for 60 fractals.

Then I read about this attuned ascended rings (I think it is only for rings isn’t it?) thing in wiki and now I am lost.

I fallow the wiki recipe and I have the attuned slot on my ring but what to put there, I think normal infusion are not going there, then I have in the inventory those +1 Agony Orbs or whatever.

They are also grouped as 3 +1 AR, 4 +1AR, 9 +1AR these are the ones grouped in my inventory, I tried to apply 9 +1AR to ring, ring got +1AR and 9 +1AR now become 8 +1AR.

Can I only get +1AR on the attuned rings, I mean I think wiki mention it can get higher AR but it is so confusing.

So please help……

I mean I don’t know with the level cleansing exists in this game, is it really that effective.

It can only dish Torment effectively and like burn guardian it does not have cover conditions.

And that is Torment if you foe is clever and will not move, it will do crap for damage and Revenant will be glass against power damage.

Sure, you can wreck people in hot joins but in competitive PVP?

Cover conditions = poison, chill, weakness, as well as constant pulsing condi, and low cool down burning.

The trick is uptime of the Torment is so high compare to cover condition (to reach 7-8 stacks of Torment and that is your offensive power) yeah , you can cover 3 stacks of Torment but not the 10-12 stacks that you have a potential for it.

And most of the pulsing belongs to one location, I was so use to see Power Rev when I first encountered a torment Rev I didn’t pay attention and it kitten d.

Next encounter in the same match with same player, after I stepped outside of its inital AOE pulse torment, I literally didn’t move and wrecked him by standing still.

If the player clever and don’t let Torment kitten him, this build feels like corrupt necro who is not able to find boons to corrupt.

Why would you want to watch the matches. There is so much stuff happening on the screen that you can’t even tell what people are doing apart from general moves they make. That’s not fun to watch.

Outside of watching what tactics top teams uses, whats brings it to you.

Do you see what combos the players are using, what are they dodging, what are they interrupting?

You just see fire works from 2 km away.

Hmmm, let me guess why that is happening?

May be the teams are full of Hybrid bunkers that does not die but not kill anybody also and the games are won by out rotating the other team and not by killing them.

Should I gift 15 mins of my life to this boredom.

When GW2 will incentivizes the teams that take risks (which means not running all hybrid bunkers and every team will have 4 zerkers + 1 support) then I will start watching GW2 PVP not before.

Will Reapers be getting a nerf?

Guys Reaper’s will Reap you stay in melee range, like a Dragonhunter will reap you if you stay in melee range.

Kite if he is in RS and kill him when he is out of it. A clever ranger will make short work of a reaper, if he kites him all the time.

If you have to fight on node with a Reaper then I wish you a good luck but it is the same with Dragon Hunter or Berserker Warrior with GS.

I had this problem not too long ago. You need to quit that story part, start a different story chapter, then start predator’s path again. You have to redo all the holograms, but it fixes it.

You mean any other story then HoT story?

Ok, most people here will tell you, put a gear that has more toughness/vitality in it.

But a word of warning to you, because of the crappy aggro mechanics in this game, if you put too much toughness in your gear and none of the other players around you are berserkers and no toughness in gear, all the mobs around you will think you are tank and start shooting you and if you have no healing in your gear, you will just struggle to survive.

So by putting toughness, actually you are making your life harder with ele because with light armor with toughness is no where near the same thing a heavy armor, like Guardian, toughness…

Now comes the better part, you may think, ok I should not have any toughness in my gear but there are some dungeons in the game aggros the player with lowest health pool, guess what stereotype is that

I found it is better to run around with zerker gear but know what to dodge, when you are new in the game forget about your rotation, your skills, just watch mob/boss for their animation and learn to dodge, otherwise life will be quite painful for you.

This sort of discussion mades me really sad….

I waited 3 years and when I actually heard there will be role for healers and tanks in the raids I lost some tears of joy, that I can use my Guardian for the role it is designed for.

Can Guardian be DPS, sure but it was never the best DPS, it was not designed to be one.

It was designed for support, healing and tanking, now look where are we now. In a discussion of tanking/healing for raids, nobody even mentions the name of a guardian and forget about DPS at all, we need Revenants, we need Tempest, we need Chronomancers, we need Druids, we need PS Warriors….

Still nobody needs Guardians, men….

Hahaha and the people on the ele forums thought that tempest would never see the light of day in high level pvp. How about them apples.

You know, only reason people play Tempest, an old trait in the water line, take out the Aura Sharing, let see how many people will play Tempest, when OP perma protection/perma fury/constant healing/perma aura/perma swiftness/disappears.

Aura sharing was mehhh before specialization patch now OP like hell….let see what happens when it gets 10s ICD, which I am sure on the way.

Not a team fighter when Hammer 2 can easily hit 5 people around 8k?
Not a team fighter when the cleave damage is insanely high?
Ik the lack of high stability skill may hurt, but it still have on deamand stun-break, evade, and block. There’re multiple ways for Rev to negate burst. It’d be perfect if someone else cover up Revenant’s condition weakness by bringing AOE cleanse.

Ne Hammer is to slow for my taste for PVP….

Even in PVE, mobs walk away from the hit zone, forget about hitting human players…

I try to run stoneheart but I don’t find a GM trait that works only for one attunement not useful….

And also when you are stuck on the earth, while so many people is pounding you, you don’t deal damage also.

At least, if you can keep the DS it works for all attunements….

Specially D/X variants are free food for DH, we have to be in melee range and we don’t have enough stability to get out of their traps.

Tempest fares well enough with reflects from mag aura, and you can pop armor or earth or focus 5 if you bring it. I’ve never felt that weak against a DH compared to when I play chronomancer that actually is very much countered by dragonhunter since it has a lot of unblockable CC.

I think the issue arrives when you are caught in an array of traps without obsidian focus (i.e. getting jumped with JI by a DH during a team fight). Unless you run armor of earth, even if traited, a measly stack of stability on overload wont save you. :/

Yeah, but let’s forget that being caught in that trap is generally a death sentence for most builds in the game, it’s hardly an elementalist specific weakness:

Hi guys,

normally I stayed away from the guild because my playing patterns were little bit erratic it was difficult to do something organized.

I finally joined a guild and they were preparing for raid, so I like to join to the squad and they call me to the guild hall with guild portal then they disappeared.

Does guild portal has a function to teleport to the raid? Or what was the benefit of joining to squad in guild hall?

I didn’t ask this at chat to mask my nooobness but here I am more anonymous so can anybody tell me the relation between guild portal and raids?
