Somehow the matchmaker guy figured out a way to make matches even worse in Ruby than they were in Amber. Grats ANET. That is hard to do.

You may be right, but I sure hope you are incorrect. Leaderboards are mostly pointless for fractals. Just give us the backpiece already and I hope they don’t introduce a bunch of bad achievements to get it.

Hmm the match today was an exception for me. Eles are not very common. Necros on the other side are like 50% in each match ….
I disagree with the ele comment but agree with the necro one. Personally, I’m seeing 2 necros on any given team and then I see an ele or even 2 in a very high majority of matches.
You will see more and more eles as people learn that it is the easiest way to carry solo queue matches right now.
The matchmaking person for ANET really needs to improve. Not sure why it is so hard to implement a model where a group of 5 pugs is NEVER matched with a premade of 3, 4, or 5.

No, having a thief is usually a loss. They suck. Nothing wrong with playing them, but its better to play it in unranked where they have a better chance to win.
In solo queue, stop using thief. 95% of thieves are completely worthless and starting a game 4v5 isn’t fun.
If you are losing 10-15 in a row, you aren’t average. Look yourself in the mirror and then get better.

I think you are mixing MMR and PIPS. For season 2, MMR is being ignored and you are instead being matched with others who are at a similar PIP level as you.
In the PIP model, you can have a newcomer to ranked being matched with a pro league player at the beginning of the season. That’s the cause of the issues. It will eventually get better, but the beginning is painful.
In soloQs, a good thief is closer to third tier level. I’ve been on teams where they carried the game, backcapping nodes and single target a person to down state. They just lack considerably against a sustainy comp who knows how to survive the initial butst but.. i imagine they didn’t make ur list because you haven’t seen a good thief
I don’t disagree about a GOOD thief. A good anything can carry a game. My list is more of a ranking of a classes.

So, I played a decent number of solo queue games over the weekend. I finished at ruby. Here is what I see as the tiers right now FROM A SOLO QUEUE PERSPECTIVE (organized teams are different)
The top
Necro – The damage is so glorious. You will be a big focus though.
Bunker ele – A decent ele can easily 1v2 most classes in the game. A really great classes for causing matchup issues elsewhere in the map
Close to the top
Rev – All the best parts of a thief but has sustain.
Engi – Probably the best mix of sustain vs damage. More damage but less sustain than the bunker ele. Way more valuable in team fights than 1v1.
Next tier
Druid – Another really good point holder in this meta. All the damage comes from the pet. cc hurts
Dragonhunter – drop traps, press 2 on LB, heal, repeat. yawn
Mesmer – Would rather not have one on my team. They are ok.
Junk
Warrior – Mostly useless although there is a newer condi spec that is decent. If they use that condi spec, there is value, otherwise, gg.
Thief – D/P is useless. Staff can be ok. Needs to be carried.
Most who complain about getting stuck in Amber aren’t as good as they think they are. That is a fact.

You may want to actually try it. Bunker ele is the most troll spec in the game right now. It can easily hold a 1v2 until a 3rd comes.

I’d rather have new fractal content. Raids are ok, but kind of blah. Fractals need some updating since there hasn’t been much focus there in a long time
Because it is + or – a certain number of pips from your current level. That means when you cross a new division, you’ll play people in a lower division. Likewise, when you were still in Amber you were likely starting to face some people in Emerald.
Bottom line is everyone in the match is close to the same number of pips as you. Thinking that you are carrying is very wrong and you may want to even think about adjusting your own style. What worked at the first levels may not be the best approach the more pips you gain.
if you wait, you’ll likely just run into all rev/reaper once everyone learns how OP they are.
Meanwhile the two top classes were still untouched. Anet wants faster paced meta but the first thing they nerf is damage.
Top two classes are rev and reaper. At least they gave a nerf on one of them.
Because skyhammer jump maps are stupid.

So many of you don’t read. matchmaking is based on pips. Currently, most people are just starting, so a player with super high mmr can easily be teamed with low mmr because they have the same number of pips right now.
If you are losing most matches, either you are not as good as you think, or you just have extremely bad luck
Right now matchmaking is pretty much random vs random. If you lost 10 in a row, it might be you.
They did it so that you wouldn’t know that the matchmaking was broken until the end.

I actually thought the quality of the casting was quite good. They did a really nice job.
I just would prefer to see a double elimination similar to WTS with best of 3 sets. The whole best of 5 is too much except for the grand finals.
No bunker meta is more exciting, but the format of pro league finals was more boring than WTS
So how would you make it more exciting? You think this event was more exciting than WTS?
For me, the previous WTS finals were more exciting that the one we just saw. I think it all goes into the format.
1. The grand finals should be best of 5. Every other match should be best of 3.
2. The tournament needs to be double elimination (this shows which teams can adapt)
3. Double elimination will also give us a 3rd place game.
So many of you whine too much. PvP is in a much better place than it was 6 months ago. Be happy this isn’t WvW which does suck.
PvP just needs two things:
1. Better matchmaking
2. A better balance team (that said, the meta is a lot better than the previous bunker Mesmer one)
Those OP’ness stated above is just making the pvp matches make very toxic. Every team is now running 2 Revenants, 2 Scrappers and an Ele. Great.
Where were those double scrapper teams?

Maybe try leveling up. You CANNOT kill any higher level bosses in 30 seconds. Literally none of them.

You believe that population parity is the problem. It is not. It is one of the issues but not the main one. The problem is that people don’t want to play WvW. That is because of two things:
1. WvW was stagnant for a long time. A lot of people left due to boredom
2. ANET started making changes, but they were the wrong changes. They tried to add in a lot more PvE into WvW and make gimmicky terrain that took away the ability for larger fights.
Meaning they saw the feedback from the HoT release and realized many of their ideas were horrible. Now comes the time for redesign.
Tempest-> healbot with cleric amulet or oneshotted glasscanon…idk how to save that one, but its definetly not fine compared to pre 23June meta
Bad comparison. Ele was incredibly OP in the meta you reference. Everyone ran two of them for a reason.

You’re applying old matchmaking with a new streak mechanic, not taking into account that decent players will breeze through early divisions on streaks with the new PIP based matchmaking.
The less time that strong players linger in low divisions, the better, streaks will place players where they should be, faster, initially.
What about the decent duo and solo queuers who will still be subjected to facing full teams, except now those teams won’t be some ez mark PvE guild, they’ll be a team of similarly skilled players with a designed comp, roles, and communication.
These streaks will punish solo queuers. Decent or otherwise.
You may want to read other threads. A pug team won’t face a premade of 4 or 5 anymore.
I do hope the Balance team do SOME REAL TESTING before listening to the whining pvp crowd.
