It means the vigilant amulet is being removed and they are communicating that fact. Don’t read into it more than that.

Why? It is junk tier. I hate when I get a thief on my team. They are the single biggest reason for most losses. If they are nerfed, maybe no one will play the class.

It will be interesting to see how the pro league finals play out tomorrow. Possibly the best two thieves in the game will be there. Will they play thief or will they play a different class?

Gliding is a HoT mastery. So if you don’t have the expansion, you can’t glide. They won’t put it in.

To the OP, here is why elite specs are in the wrong direction. The problem began with the 6/23/2015 patch, right before HoT release so pay attention:

  • Pre 6/23/2015, GW2 had finally reached an acceptable level of balance in player vs. player. People enjoyed the “feel” of conquest during the era of the cele/rifle engi, dd cele ele and all other viable builds in play.

No they didn’t. People complained just as much about balance then as they do now. dd cele ele was OP

5. Remember that players go to wvw to fight other players in large scale fights. It is not about PvE. Hopefully ANET gets a clue about what is causing their player numbers to drop.

After hitting frac 100, I have no desire to ever do a high level fractal again. There is a core reason for it…. HIGH LEVEL FRACTALS TAKE TOO LONG TO COMPLETE.

I think ANET really needs to rethink how they go about doing fractals. Right now, as fractals increase in number, the difficulty is increased a bit, and the mobs/boss take longer to kill. That needs to be changed.

Key Principles should be:
1. A high level fractal should never take more than 2x the amount of time of a low level fractal. Ideally even 1.5×.
2. High level difficulty shouldn’t be focused around more HP/toughness for mobs/bosses.
3. High level difficulty also shouldn’t just be making enemies deal greater damage.
4. Difficulty should be instead added by: faster mobs, faster attacks, less places to hide from cannons/lasers/etc, more reflect type skills, new skills, etc.

For example, let’s take uncategorized and how it could be set up.
Low levels: same as today where harpies attack but that’s all (hp/toughness likely increased to normalize across all levels)
Low- Mid levels: add the knockbacks
Mid levels: faster, more frequent knockback attacks + hit with conditions
Mid high level: all of mid but faster + harpies have a reflect skill every xx number of seconds
High level: all mid-high but faster + periodic retal + immob/chill conditions.

Just an example to illustrate the point.

From talks with friends, matches, etc. This season is probably going to be tempest, druid, herald, scrapper, reaper.

All other classes should hope for the best when it comes to innovative team comps. But beyond that start considering a class to play for the upcoming league.

I honestly don’t get how the balance changes work. They change this OP thing then make another thing OP or not touch what’s already OP before. What.

Can’t they get testers that actually play the game? Maybe ESL players or them MLG pros to test the changes before releasing them publicly. If people think it could give the “pros” advantages for future engagements then just stream the testing gameplay on twitch or something so everyone knows what’s up and also give their own opinions. I mean, I would happily do it for free. FREE ANET, FREE. This way actual players get to really contribute instead of moaning day and night here.

ESL pros dont test balance, in fact they dictate and heavily influence on balance patches. ANet cater to those people mostly, you lucky if you play one of the classes that are loved by those pros (thief/engi), and sucks if your classes are not those (Mesmer).

Your post makes zero sense. There are only a few people who mained engi before the latest patch and literally no one ran thief.

EVERYONE wanted to see bunker mesmer nerfed, except for the few bads who were carried by it.

It will completely depend on the rules. If they force 5 unique classes, maybe you’ll see thieves. If the rules are 4 unique classes, then most likely top teams will run:

Rev, Reaper, Scrapper, and Druid. The final spot will then be a rev or a druid depending on the team.

Don’t get me wrong. You’ll still see some of the other classes, but they won’t be as prevalent.

Fix warrior or remove it.

Yeah, 2 of 5 is really dumb. It should be 3 of 5 if they want a place in the tournament. Fix it ANET.

The best way to solve the issue is that if a guild split and one side has 2 players and one side has 3 players, the 3 should get the spot.

A few comments:

  • at pro level, DH is not played anymore, because it is bad
  • DH medi-trapper is a noob-stomping build.

This being said

  • DH virtues are not instant (while guardians are). That is why many people complained in the forum and they buffed them to make up for it. In my opinion, DH virtues should be stronger but without ally effect, so trading ally support for stronger personal defense/offense. F1 does that already. F2 still heals allies, which I think should be removed, but a higher self-heal + mobility is fine. F3 for guardian is underwhelming, it is better for DH. But here, I think buff the guardian one (1 aegis on more than 40s CD?)
  • traps are not that well-designed. They are too strong for noobs who don’t dodge them, too weak for non-noobs who dodge them. The DH sacrifices meditations (meaning healing and defensive utilities) for them. The trap trait is annoying, just spamming daze, but does not really add flavor.

So yes, this needs to be improved.

How do you know that they will not be played at the pro level? There haven’t been any pro matches since the balance patch.

Yeah, but you can’t really compare it to reapers. Reaper is possibly the strongest class right now in PvP.

So let’s see:

Raids: sabetha dps meters put the rev 5th peaking at 19k dps. Just for reference hammer guard is 24k or so.
Basically the raid gains dps by swapping revs with guards and having chronos use concentration sigil and Chronomancers rune.
ps war takes care of 25 might stacks.
Fury is the most common buff in the game
Guardians also provide quickness further diminishing the strength of feet of nature.
Eles and thieves are both 25k+

Spvp : necros everywhere, condi spam. Revs are now a joke

WvW : no one plays this. Thanks to the lamers qQing hammer is now useless.

Let’s recap:
5th highest dps.
Mediocre suoport.
No decent range weapon
Sub optimal condi build (obal rated it at 15k dps, theoritical, and non comprtituve)
Only 1 optimal weapon
Half the legends and utilities, as well as 2 trait lines are worthless
Only 2 working underwater legends

…,

You are so wrong. Watch PvP. I’ll bet pretty much every top team has at least 1 rev and maybe 2 depending on their players.

The only thing they can do is continue with the WvW redesign without player involvement. Once they mess that up, no one will be talking about the bad map anymore.

You should focus on Mag instead of whining.. the only reason you won that matchup is because FA and TC tanked it.

that was a pretty bad job at tanking. t2 had the closest scores out of every tier last week.

Meaning TC and FA didn’t really play much last week compared to a normal week.

LOL. you completely ignored thief, which got the biggest buff on the most recent patch. Every class can be op except for warr and mesmer. Mesmer deserves it’s current state, it never required much skill and thus attracted the wanna be’s who pretend to be skilled. I hate every mesmer and I laugh when I see them because they deserve their current state.

Except thief isn’t very good in anything OTHER than a highly coordinated team.

Anyway, we’ll find out soon enough what is meta. Mark my words, the 4 classes I mentioned are the top.

The new BL maps are horrible. It’s ok to admit that. Last reset in T2, we had a 50+ queue in EB and no queues on any BL maps. Why? The new maps are not fun. They are not targeted for fights.

Look at your own analytics and tell me if you see anywhere near the numbers in a BL map as you do in EB. In fact, I bet all 3 BL maps combined might have less playtime than EB.

Bring back the old BL maps. Once you implement this new redesign of WvW, then revisit the decision. For now though, remove the new BL maps.

This has nothing to do with ranked vs unranked. Ranked only worked in seasons due to the ladder.

The current unranked matchmaking is basically ANET giving up. They admit that they have no clue how to handle matchmaking.

It is sad how pretty much every decision ANET made for the HoT WvW release was wrong. The current WvW team is really poor. I’m scared about how they are trying to mess up WvW even more with the overhaul.
