So, first the nerfs were needed. The whole concept of an ele standing on point all day and living just didn’t make sense.
The problem is that ANET didn’t give ele another viable spec as part of the nerf.
The most recent bunker meta sucked. The only good thing about it is that there were no thieves. On a pug team, usually a thief means a loss.
1-1-1-1-1…no combo needed 1-1-1…thief wins.. yay… no skill’s required.
Don’t worry. Most thieves are horrible. If you are losing to them, then sorry.
I just thought you got rewards based on your highest ranked team.

We still need to see what will be meta. People are still trying new specs at this point.
Engi is completely dependent on how much condi is in the meta. Necro is a hard counter for engi

Your logic is really bad. No one cares how much effort ANET put into the maps. This is a game. The only thing people care about is whether it is fun. The old maps were more fun.
It should say something when in last night’s reset in T2, we had a 50 person queue on EB and ZERO queues anywhere else.
Updating my list, based on theorycrafting and experience playing as and fighting against these professions. Specs won’t be specified but should be pretty obvious.
- Reaper
- Scrapper
- Daredevil
- Druid
- Dragonhunter
- Tempest
- Herald
- Chronomancer
- BerserkChronomancer and Berserk might switch places. DH and Tempest might switch places as well. Herald might push just below Druid.
My best prediction at this time for top comp is: Condi Reaper, two Scrappers (at least one as power), D/P Daredevil, and support Druid.

Anet has absolutely no idea what is coming at them. Right now many many good thieves lay low, waiting for the next season to start (because no balance patch can be made during seasons). When that second season starts, Anet is in for a very big surprise.
After Season 2 starts, I am curious to watch a game designer face in Guild Chat on twitch.tv/guildwars2 just to see how worried they are.
I wish a lot of good luck to ArenaNet, because they will indeed need it in Season 2.
Luckily, there are not very many good thieves, so no need to worry.
The issue isn’t unranked. The same people who were doing ranked are now doing unranked. The issue is that ANET has failed at implementing matchmaking in unranked.
If you feel that PvP sucks, maybe a different game mode or game would be better for you.
Yes, the balance team isn’t great, but the core conquest game mode is fun. Stronghold, however is horrible.
I actually like where Engineer is right now. It is good to see a class that can have more than 1 viable spec in PvP.

I’ve said before that druid will be the place where all the old bunker mesmers run towards. We shall see.
No. burn damage was broken at that time. Every meta has something that is broken. Just adapt.
Remember, you don’t need to play all game modes. Personally, I find raids to be boring. I don’t like how ANET threw away the gw2 manifesto and now force people to have a tank and a healer.
That said, I know others enjoy it. So they can play it and I’ll play stuff that is more fun to me.

The old mindless ele spec where someone could stay alive forever on point is gone. The fun part is trying new specs. If that isn’t your thing, wait a week or so until metabattle tells you what you run.
We still need a bit more time. I am happy that the no-skill builds like bunker mesmer are gone, but still need to see how more matches play out.

A good start. Also channeling should cause a player to lose all boons. I want people to fight over the point, not have the player with the longest stability get it.
I’d rather they just forget about season 1 and look forward. Season 1 was a wreck between a broken bunker mesmer and condi spec for half the season and then of course the cheese mode known as stronghold.

Yeah, I think it is pretty obvious that season 1 was a failure. Let’s hope the changes for season 2 make it more legitimate.
That said, you guys need to understand that ANET doesn’t measure success by having balanced classes, or a fair league system. They measure success by how much playtime the mode is getting.
Essentially if you are writing on the forum in between queues, you aren’t really solving anything. ANET is looking at it as a success since you are still playing.

No, the reason for WvW failure is a complete lack of understanding by the WvW team. They’ve made some attempts, but they’ve all been wrong. I know they have a revamp in the works, but they probably are going down the direction of more gimmicks like they released in HoT.

Sure, there were some people who made it to legendary legitimately, but there are a lot who got there through cheese.

So, I played a recent game where this happened:
One player on the losing team was upset and so he started telling the winning team where all the players were going. People reported him.
People like that better receive a ban. Otherwise, what’s the point of even having a report function?
It is scary that he is in charge of WvW since I don’t think he gets it at all.
Because what you perceive as a 2v5 obviously isn’t shared by everyone else.
I’d love for ANET to show stats for how often a 3 thief pug team beats a no thief pug team. I guarantee one of us will be right and it isn’t you.
It’s the downside of a lot of bads making it to legendary. You have to remember that a lot of people got there riding on a broken bunker mesmer + condi rev prior to the minor nerfs. After those nerfs, those same bads moved over to stronghold, cheesed that, and gimmicked the matchmaking by inviting low levels.
Now with the matchmaking gimmick patched, you have a lot of people stuck in legendary who have no chance to compete because they are simply outclassed. Only thing for them to do is AFK or chat after a few minutes. It doesn’t take long for them to realize they aren’t good enough to kill anyone.
Yes, and then it will be a 2v5. Same point still applies. Why do I lose pips for a 2v5 in that case?
The common denominator is you.
Let’s get something straight. You are 1 player out of 10 on the map. That means at best you have a 10% impact on the match and its outcome. If you’re wildly mismatched, then perhaps you could have more impact – for better or worse. But your logic is beyond fail.
Take your common denominator and shove it back where you pulled it from.
Actually your logic is nonexistent if you think all 10 players on the field are equal. A really good or really bad player can have a much larger effect than that.
Why do I lose pips when I am stuck in a 3v5?
One of two things:
1. Broken matchmaking
2. He was in a party with another ruby. In the past, a lot of cheesers would pair with low levels so that they’d get easier matches. Now everyone in a party takes on the division of the highest rated member. It is definitely a good thing overall, but has some drawbacks like the scenario you mentioned.
The banner is just more gimmicks that are not needed in WvW. They need to encourage open field fights and tower attack and tower defense. The key is players. Not siege, not banners, but actual players. ANET has lost focus on that at some point.
Guys…. Every WvW decision by ANET in the last 2 years has been wrong. You really think the overhaul is going to fix anything? All they will end up doing is making WvW more like EotM.

As a roamer, in 8 out of 10 visits you would get a fight in the north camp.
And as a small group you could always pretend to attack one of the northern towers to get some action.
That aspect of the game completly died with the new map and i miss it.

The new maps are just bad for fights. The thing you have to remember though is that ANET doesn’t like to admit mistakes. They aren’t going to take down something they just created even if their stubbornness causes people to leave.
I’m actually really scared about their major overhaul. It seems virtually every WvW decision they make has been wrong for the last 2 years.
Mark my words… Druid will become the new bunker mesmer in everything but high end play. The self sustain is already too high. As a lot of flavor of the month types leave bunker mesmer, this will end up being the place they go.

If you like bunker, play druid after the release. It is going to be the new bunker mesmer.
Thief should have preparedness as baseline, but nothing else should be made baseline. Also, I’d still like to see the evade on staff 5 removed.
