Ectos and rare gathering is not find nor is it controlled by the players at all HA where’d you get that idea??? Anyway….

Crafting mats are not that common for those who still are suffering from the permaDR or those who are still suffering the lack-of-loot syndrome for lack of a better word. I’m glad you got yours but to claim everything is fine, is simply wrong on the worst level. There wouldn’t be more and more new postings about lack-of-loot in these forums every week if there wasn’t something terribly wrong and the fact that they can’t detect a single thing despite screenshots and videos for 5 months now should definitely alarm you.

I can’t imagine how after seeing 60% of the playerbase leave D3 due to this same exact thing makes anyone think that DR works in the slightest sense. D3 had RMT as well as you might recall they were just more direct about it.

Because if you run dungeons and open world events, you can get rares and exotics easily. It’s not hard and when I say it’s under the players control, I mean it’s not something the RMT companies can dominate.

this is about the economy, ultra scarcity and RMT ruining the game through an extreme necessity of gold. >:(

Uhm you DO realize that when they limit loot drops and use DR to harm the playerbase (because it’s seriously NOT doing a thing to bots they’re still here teleporting all over the place) then it harms the economy right?! I mean we’re talking about the same thing here however you’re failing to realize that the whole issue of the economy being as bad as it is isn’t because they have a single currency that can be purchased in their store (indirectly thru conversion or not) but because they have limited to loot SO much that people can’t sell anything in the store, the fewer the sales, the higher the prices the easier it is for people to manipulate this type of TP and the prices skyrocket. They still haven’t fixed the problem of getting Lodestones for example. If you buy the RNG chests they have (craftbag) then you end up with everything but what you’re looking for. That craftbag should drop nothing but every rare lodestone, powerful blood, gossamer scraps seriously because those are THE most difficult items to get in open world.

Basically they have a tiny few who started the game early maxed out to 80 in 3-4 days and spent the entire first month buying karma items from vendors like vanilla beans, and farming the items that are rare so that they can manipulate the market to continue to squeeze the players willing to go to the gem store buy gems and convert them to gold to gear their characters the way they want to gear them.

It’s the same thing you’re talking about but make no mistake, we don’t have as much control as you think we do. They even nerfed loot in dungeons. There’s threads all over the place complaining about it.

This game is extremely casual in almost every way.

No defined combat roles and simplified combat.

Easy to play and get into.

You level very easily.

There’s no need to really ever play with anyone else.

Reward systems that basically reward you for being online.

Mob / content difficulty is laughable.

Customization / aesthetic is largely optional and doesn’t matter too much to combat or group situations.

Sure there is content that caters to other player groups besides casuals, but at the core, this game is very shallow, easy, requires almost no real group coordination, and rewards you for pretty much everything. It’s the pinnacle of a casual MMO, almost to its’ own detriment, so i don’t understand this topic.

We’re not saying it’s no longer casual we’re saying they are moving away from casual. And as for the rewards for just being online, that’s an extreme exaggeration. They don’t reward you enough for the things that you do participate in. They’ve thrown Karma down the toilet with their new laurel system (unless they secretly plan on making the rest of the ascended gear cost Karma points which I doubt) and loot drops / typical casual farming of any kind is all but completely deleted unless you’re one of the contestants that won the secret GW2 lottery where DR doesn’t hit you and you can play freely getting rewarded for participating in DE metas and defend/capture events.

Moving away….. Is what we’re talking about, and it started in Nov.

It’s probably because the "ERP"ers ruin it for the normal ones by making everyone uncomfortable and generally creeping them out. :s In the end it can’t be helped.
This is why you can’t have nice things: Bad people corrupt them and make bad stereotypes.

That’s what I’m guessing they too aren’t lumped in with the RP crowd like so many here have done in this thread. It’s so hilarious when people can’t tell the difference between RPers and ERPers, smh, bigotry exists even in mmo’s I guess.

Yup I saw what I saw, believe me or not. Using guesting before you question how someone else uses it. I hate RPers attitude towards the whole MMO community. I think it’s better for table tops/instances or:

LARPers are a breed of their own. Some are elitest kitten just like some RPers are eliest kitten.

That is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. the only and I stress ONLY leetist group i have ever encounters in every mmo or mp game i’ve ever played are the gear treadmill/dungeononly/raidonly crowd EVER. Seriously, you must have encountered a single rare kitten in a iceberg of diamonds to say that because every RPer larper and even Nero players have all been very kind to me, EVEN a satanist I once new was kinder then any of the dungeoneers/raiders I’ve met in my time.

I am from the Tarnish Coast server, the un-offical GW2 RP server, and I love it.
RP, short for Role Play, is when players assume or represent the the current game-world is real, and participates in assuming a personalty and a personal story.

There are some who lash out on role players in GW2 for no other reason than just to be a huge misery to others.

I would argue the roleplayers make the GW2 servers feel alive, it certainly make the cities seem busy when player walk through them and making small talk.
When you look at the alternative of a normal non-rp server, you find that it’s dead. No one talks, and mapchat is reduce to “looking for groups”, trolls, and dead silence.

Roleplayers actually appreciate the story and world of the game, and should have some respect for making everything interesting.

What do you think?

Not me I’m no RPer but I love the RP community. Ever since experiencing that community on LOTRO I’ve preferred it because they seem to have great manners and help people who need it with everything. They sometimes even are very generous people with their time. That’s why I’m there to avoid the nasty WoW-esc crowd with their gimme-everything-and-get-out-of-my-way attitude I’ve experienced in every gaming community that’s had dungeons or pvp as the focus.

Anti Casual

@OP
You must be a Super Casual.

Because this game isn’t for Hardcore players, it’s definitely catered towards the average casual player.

The ascended gear was never aimed at casuals. Since it’s introduction the game’s dev-intended gameplay has been shifting more and more towards top tier gear acquisition. As an effect, it’s direction is shifting slowly away from casuals towards the grinders.

Exactly and if it were solely to give agony resistance it wouldn’t have higher stats on it.

Also everything they’ve added post launch to the game has used nothing but the mystic toilet moving away from the crafting disciplines.

And if they don’t retro it’s going to take 13-16 months to completely gear in ascended from laurels, it takes less time in WoW using that formula. And before someone tells me they plan on adding retro laurels, they also planned on adding DE meta’s instead they put in another dungeon and severely nerfed the loot from the metas they already have. :/

Engineer traits: why are they handicapped?

25pts Alchemy: Minor trait.
Gives 1% more damage for every boon.

25pt Water: Minor trait (Elementalist)
Give 2% more damage for every boon.

Straigth up compareable traits, yet Elementalist’s is twice as strong.

That’s kind of subjective. I am not well versed in ele skills. I would ask can the ele apply as many different TYPES of boons as the engineer? Engineers can gain almost every boon in the game. Several of them can easily become perma. Does the ele have the same ability or access to as wide of a range?

Granted it would take us 6 boons to make up for 3 ele boons which is a pretty big disparity.

Question 2: Does 2 stacks of Might (or any boon) count as two boons or as one boon concerning that trait.

Food for thought.

Yes, an Ele can keep up boons very well. Some builds are keeping up 4 boons permanently, with a high uptime of Protection. And Stability on a long cooldown, but reliably available. When im going for the hurt i have every single Boon available to me up for the duration my damage needs it the most, reliable, on demand, (except for stability) low cooldown (<10sec) The only thing not available is Aegis.
But for the duration of combat i have 4boons up at all times, and most of the time even 5.

Might counts as 1 boon, regardless of how many stacks. Else those Might-stacking builds would be doing miles better then they are doing now if they could get 25% more dmg from a full stack of might, instead of 1%.

I agree but we also have to look at the line that falls under. Not only is it a 25point requirement whereas the thief and ranger don’t require that many points to receive damage bonuses they simply use them on the first tier “adept” but this trait is also under a defensive line, again which falls under the support,CC sections of their trinity not the DPS. Engineers are missing the DPS because our trait lines that have bonuses to DPS rely only on defensive occurances and are missing multiple venues of initial damage bonuses the other two classes enjoy without thinking about it.

Here’s my analysis of the situation.

As you can see we’re not only missing quite alot of bonuses both pre and post getting an enemy down to 50% but we’re also missing multiple bonuses and how they occur. like might fury etc with more then just elixirs.

The regen thing is not cool when it doesn’t stack, there should not be the same type of regen from multiple spells or there should be some kind of direct heal effect from one so they offset one another. Combine this problem with very little if any +healing benefit to any regen or direct heal and the problematic weakness of the turrets where all one has to do is sneeze and they blow up and you have a poor system. It’s not wrong of players to ask for a better system of healing just like it’s not wrong to ask for a better turret system. If I were inventing these things I would have made them mobile like the turrets from the classes on TL 1 and 2 from both the classes that had them, like the Vanguisher from 1 and the engineer bots from 2. That would have been worth it to me. And before someone starts in about how powerful that would make them keep in mind it’s no different then the elementals or the spirits on two other classes.

I’m a casual player. I have noticed that this game is evolving in a way that is making it harder for casuals to complete content. Too bad. Why is that?

I completely agree, I’m a gathcraftsplorer and since they’ve totally turned their backs on the players like us that stick with games for a lifetime when supported by the dev team, it’s been harder and harder to find reasons to login. I’ve been patiently waiting for a fix to both DR/loot as well as the DE meta’s we were promised prior to this game’s launch. So far all I keep seeing are more and more bugs and things most people don’t want to do (ie that bought this game because it wasn’t supposed to be about the dungeons.) I’ve frankly had enough of dungeons, this was supposed to be about open world content and nothing more, the dungeons were supposed to be a fun side attraction not the single focus of this title. I’ve played my share of dungeon only lobby games not going back to that sorry.

Engineer traits: why are they handicapped?

tigirius.9014

Absolutely true! I am so glad someone else noticed this. I posted a while back some observations about why engineers are so much weaker then the adventurer leatherwearing counterparts. The traits are the culprits. Our traits are setup so that they are defensive reactions instead of offensive actions. We wait until 75% to get our buffs while the thief simply uses a single ability. Our minor bonuses to damage are 100% tied to endurance levels, thiefs and rangers are basically setup per weapon type and getting the enemy to 50% as fast as possible. Thief/Ranger recieve extra damage and bonuses once the enemy is at 50% hitpoints. We don’t get anything of the like, we put out the same amount of damage constantly, which makes no sense when you’re dealing with things like explosives or fire damage from flame throwers.

Just isn’t setup to actually have the same chances that every other class of it’s type to do damage. My feeling is this. If we’re supposed to be versatile, then let us be versatile, give us the same options of putting out tons of damage all at once. Everyone else can, it’s only fair.

Otherwise when you look at the roles for each class, the “new” trinity you’ll see they have support, CC, dps while we just have support, CC.

1) If you don’t do dungeons, the case this month, it takes 30 days to get an amulet. For me to obtain one it would be 30 days, that’s why I used that number.

Seriously? Do 5 dungeon runs. Don’t complain about this if you are so unwilling to play some aspect of the game even a minute amount.

I’m not against people “whining” and “complaining” when what they are actually doing can be better described as criticizing. If you aren’t willing to do something you don’t like for just 2 hours over the entire month and that is the only thing keeping you from getting this amulet with everyone else, then boo hoo. The 2 hours you spend on dungeons now equates to you having the amulet for aprox. 12 days more.

You do understand don’t you how irrelevant your argument is? Because for 7 years we were told this game was never supposed to be about dungeons, that’s the KEY reason why I bought it. It was absolutely supposed to be about open world DE meta’s and nothing else because “it’s so much less costly to develope DE’s” “DE’s can be churned out so much faster then dungeon content” “DE’s are superior to dungeons because you aren’t waiting on a group to form, you can just jump into the content immediately upon logging in”

Remember all that? Because I sure do. Have they delivered? Nope. Still waiting on those new DE Meta’s that are supposed to be as fun if not more fun then the dragon events. Instead I get this requirement to do the very thing I was told I would never have to do in this game, dungeons.

I just recall many an interview where they claimed they wanted their game to feel rewarding, they didn’t want to be like other games. Well, guess what they aren’t like other games. I actually get rewarded when I play STO or WoW or TL II I actually get loot that I can use, I’m not cutoff from that loot or currency by some manipulated mechanic in the game that’s become so bothersome that it’s killing the title entirely.Blizz tried this mess years ago, they tried to limit the amount/kind of loot and they lost a ton of people all at once when they did (it was early on) they corrected it in time to keep the population they had and then released their next expansion. Other titles stubbornly held onto DR and claimed it was to battle bots and those titles were closed down because like here there is no reward for your time. Those devs learned the hard way that DR never keeps bots at bay and only serves the harm the players. Blizz also learned the value of currency for items long ago, GW2 has just started it but they need to drop the achievements we’ve already done so we can get the things we need. We also need to get rid of the extra RNG items the last thing we need is extra RNG we need direct access to buying powerful bloods, onyx lodestones, etc so that people can gear themselves properly without the need to go to the gem store currency exchange for absolutely everything just to be able to afford the broken economy prices in the TP.

That somehow this RNG loot system isn’t slanting towards something negative like it has been for months for so many of us and that everything is unicorns and rainbows. Are people really so selfish that they can’t help the players that don’t get a single thing from drops by demanding they do something more constructive then just endlessly “gathering data” say like removing DR entirely from the open world?

What do you all think? Because there are those who believe this isn’t happening to those of us with the permaDR at all.

I’m one of the missing, they won’t be seeing me for a long long time until they get some of this under control. Missing entire chests is just the extent of it for me. And telling people that it’s not true when we have screenshots and videos showing them what’s happening definitely isn’t helping.

The population of many servers has been dwindling for quite some now. It’s amazing they haven’t merged the servers yet especially since this game requires multiple players mid way thru on many of the events.

Gold from playing, not grinding or farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

tigirius.9014

Gold is farmed by CoF path 1 ad nauseum or ori nodes farming(?).

Why can’t I just play the game and be rewarded? I wanna just play WvW, and maybe get 1g (selling junk from bags) after an hour of playing, and not worry about trying to maximize my bags by tagging as many people as possible in zergs. The issue here is with tagging in WvW probably. And TP inflation.

I’m rambling. This isn’t the first time I’m revolted by the game because of the grindiness / economy.

I want to do one simple thing. Get some alternative stats gear to try out a build. I don’t think I want to grind 50g (exotic armor/runes) to get the pieces from the TP to try out a build.

That’s exactly why many of us stopped playing. There’s no reason to login when you know you’re not going to get rewarded for your time. And I’m sorry but that’s not a good thing to be spending your laurels on (to those who will argue that)

Mix that in with some disappearing chests or wooden chests that don’t drop any better then the porous bones in Orr and you’ve got yourself a broken economy my friend. Completely agree about it. I really feel sorry for the new post nov 15th players I really do because if they haven’t won the Arenanet Lottery then they are in for a world of extreme hurt in the wallet.

loot engine

Posted by: tigirius.9014

It finally happened, i refuse to play with some guildies as from today. The reason?
Loot, plain and simple. There is one guy, 900 hours clocked, who has 4 precursors already, exotic after exotic, lodestone after lodestone, ring after ring in dungeons
and fractals while other people got absolutely nothing with 400+ hours more
clocked. And to top it of i heared this rumor that karkashells en powerfull blood droprate will be decreased. So, some people get their legendary thrown at them while other people have to farm / grind themselves into oblivion to get the same thing. And no, it’s got nothing to do with luck..a one or two week luckstreak, thats luck. But this has been going on for , well, since the start of the game. I know they are only virtual rewards but extremely frustrating nevertheless.

I hope a dev will respond to this frustrating ( not only for me but for dozens of others in my guild as well) topic.

Regards,

Don

The rumor has been confirmed. I used to get an okay number of powerful bloods from these, now I get the greys constantly. I got 6 karka shells from 100 kills. the rest was greys and 1 green. It’s not a rumor anymore folks when you actually experience it for yourself.

I think we’re dealing with more then one thing similtaneously. I think it’s a mixture of kill credit, whatever they did to break MF, DR, lowered loot tables, and bugs alround. If the game can get bugged from a single patch where everything you are looking at disappears entirely, then a harder to measure MF/DR/Loot Rate/Kill Credit system can easily be bugged out entirely.

Also, I believe that any game that measures participation using solely a dps meter system doesn’t deserve the time of the players either because there’s plenty of other things to be doing even in an attack in Orr, like Rezzing. They’re basically telling healer types they aren’t needed and don’t deserve anything from kills drops.

Finally what do people really need so much gold for? The only thing I can really think of is a legendary. And legendaries are supposed to take a while to get. I mean, you can’t buy 500 badges of honor, yiou can’t buy 500 dungeon tokens. If you see legendaries as a long term project, there’s no need to spend money.

OK, so I personally want Kudzu for my ranger. At the current price of 1,750 gold and at my current rate of saving (600+ hours for 30 gold in my bank atm) it would take me… 35,000 hours of play to get the gold needed, but then again the item might cost 100,000 gold (I have no idea of course) by the time I save so there is no possible way I could save the money to buy one.

Sure I have wasted some of my gold over the 4 months but I don’t think I would have earned much over 50 gold in total as I have been saving everything since XMas.

The only real way for me to get a legendary is to craft and I don’t like crafting so I won’t be getting one. T.T

But that’s completely normal didn’t you hear? The reason why everything has been so expensive for months on end now isn’t due to anything but getting rid of those 200 exploiters and banning the bots they had in the game 4 months ago. The economics of TP actually last that long. Or at least that’s what we’re supposed to believe from the “everything’s perfectly fine because I’m getting mine” crowd.

The NPC from which you must purchase the fruit already beat you to the trees; hence they have them and the tress do not.

Doesn’t adequately explain why there’s not a single fruit tree in sight one could gather from. well maybe an apple, but we’re supposed to believe that all these people grow are herbs and lettuce to eat in the farms that support the entire human kingdoms of both ebonhawk and Divinity’s Reach. It’s weird that they would try to prevent people from getting the things they need to level crafting however people are allowed to make rare items in other crafts to salvage them for ectos.

It’s also amazing to me just how many peppercorns and walnuts there are but 0 fruit off anything.

the drop system is tailored to almost always give you the armor you don’t want (light/medium when you play heavy etc…)

That’s one of the reasons why most games stopped using RNG because no developer has ever perfected the standardized loot calculation equation to include more complex variables like class type, spec, focus stats etc to make the loot drops more tailored to the player. It’s much easier for them to create a currency system and eliminate the RNG system entirely eventually.

I would love for anyone anywhere at any time to start doing videos on the problems of the loot tables, DR, chests disappearing, loot disparity basically ALL of the subject this community of youtubers have been hiding away from since this game launched. It’s like someone has a gun to their heads not to mention anything bad or something. Cmon let’s be honest in the review guys, we need some answers and the community OBVIOUSLY needs some support in getting those answers since we’ve had two threads now with over 1k posts on them about this subject and all we get are insults and more run arounds.

well engineer pretty much sucks on every field for me except being a dungeon nurse .

It actually sucks there too. Most of our abilities don’t even get affected by the +healing on gear, I know I tried it, I pretty much keep the crit exotics on now exclusively. does the same amount of healing meh….

Med Kit Refinement = BOOM!?

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

Kit Refinement
“Equipping a kit creates an attack or a spell.”

With this trait active, equipping Med Kit with Kit Refinement results in a small PBAoE similar to bomb (but apparently only dealing ~28% damage compared to Bomb).

Am I the only one that finds the behaviour of Med Kit Refinement very odd?

All the other kits provide an effect that makes sense, yet the Med Kit effect seems very out of place. Did we soak our bandages in nitroglycerine or something??

To me it would be better if Med Kit Refinement would provide either:

  • bandage heal effect similar to ‘Drop Bandage’ (12s cd)
    or
  • remove a condition (15s cd)

Either choice doesn’t seem overpowered and much more befitting the Med Kit in terms of function when used with Kit Refinement.

What do you guys think?

I was hoping it would have been dropping bandages with a bandage heal when you dropped some. Something like that because it still needs the on use heal effect the explosion does to function with food sigils and runes but it definitely needs something that makes more sense then a saturday morning cartoon effect.

Is there a dmg tax on engi weapons?

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

The Engineer is a highly versatile class. While it doesn’t have the long range capabilities of the Ranger, or the melee capabilities of the Warrior or Guardian, they are comfortable at medium ranges in most fights. They have a lot of control, and use their boons to keep themselves (and allies) alive in a fight. They can use different kits based on the situation, but this extreme versatility comes at a cost in damage on their main hand weapons.

Source

pretty much sums it up OP. smh. can’t even begin…..

anyway maybe a few months from now they’ll begin serious testing because as you can see from my signature, they haven’t had a serious test of class balance since the game launched or they would immediately and without a doubt notice the same things the players have noticed.

ok, im submitting my data i received on a brief farming session. Note, I only did 4 events, not killing any mobs in between. Magic find was at 161% (MF banner and guild buff)

Great picture, remove the yellows and you’ll see my loot for months now group or no group.

Seriously when is someone going to fix this problem? We keep getting the run around and now it’s gotten so bad that whole chests are disappearing.

Also, we’ve submitted enough data and what do we get for it? Accused of being too imaginative to tell the difference between before this change and after, or we’re told it’s an Xfiles conspiracy theory. Yeah Thanks for the support.

for those naysayers: here is a sample chat log i took earlier tonight with a regular party member of mine.

i didn’t take any more screens after because it was really ridiculous about her drop rate. 2-3 rares per de.

i counted 22 rares before i stopped bothering to keep track. this is over a 2 hour period.

So basically you’re illustrating to us exactly what we’ve discovered for ourselves already, that there’s something seriously wrong with their loot system when one person can get constant drops and another can get nothing all in the same run. That’s what I’m seeing every time I login, unless you win the in game Arenanet Lottery there won’t be anything for you (much less the precursor, yeah I noticed that one too).

I’ve played 600+ hours and my highest priced item sold was 35 silver… O_O

I get all my gold (just 50 in total) from selling low level mats, not the worthless drops. But I don’t do FOTM so I guess it’s my fault for not doing what Anet want’s me to do.

600+ hours, and how much did you pay (excepting the original disc/box investment) in that time?

How many people out there have the 600, 700, 900+ hours of game time, cry about the game not being customised to their imagining, and have paid NOTHING for the experience?

yeah i got 600+ and I spent 12 months worth of subs ont the game… now I want my 12 months of proper loot, ty.

fact is your arguement becomes irrelevant, leech or not leech, you still get punched in the gut by Arena nets twisted loot math

I never knew a time when buying gems was mandatory. the option(however tempting) is always there. by and large it’s to make up coin gaps for impatient players with more disposable incomes. there’s nothing wrong with buying gems IMO. excessive purchases could be problematic, but the occasional splurge helps both the player and anet.

Well I knew a time, it’s called post November. New players left and right have to now in order to get geared so they can actually NOT get grief for not having full exotics on before they do WvW or dungeons, it’s happening all over the place and does in no way enhance the experience of the game for anyone. Have you checked the prices for the runes lately? seriously? or the exotic armor pieces like Berzerker gear? You’re going to seriously tell us all that you somehow magically made 50 gold from the serious lack of drops in the 2 weeks it took you to reach level 80 from level 2? This is the problem folks.

There is actually much more of a choice in the leveling process here than in most other MMOs.

I’d have to agree this game has it’s issues but this is definitely NOT one of them, and insulting other players isn’t going to make your point true OP.

I don’t know, I tend to enjoy the occasional full-on Stockholm Syndrome Cognitive Dissonance Fanatic response to clear violations of trust and honesty that we have seen countless times in the history of MMO’s bred from sheer avarice. The defense of these violations need to finally end, however, with the acceptance of the truth without the muddying of the issues players face today by censure and defamation. No design is infallible and no justice won by remaining dissevered. Players would be wiser to refrain from attacking other players when faced with posts about the problems these other players experience. Just because the attacking players have decided that no one could possibly ever have a bad experience in man-made entertainment venues that quite often are abused when fame and fortune amass quickly, does not instantly make these players wrong.

this is basically the KEY reason why I don’t login anymore even to do dailies it’s pointless at this point. We don’t even have a carrot on a stick design anymore that’s how bad it is. And I think they’ll only tweak it slightly to make sure that chests actually appear for fractals because months and multiple threads (some reaching the 1500 post mark) reveals they sure don’t care about open world drops.

You’re right there’s two choices, deal with it or go play something else. I’m going to go play something else, maybe if they lose 60% of their players this way someone will take notice and do something constructive like removing DR from the game entirely or pressing the reset button on the changes they made to loot in November.

I do like them as well. except i would like housing like Rift, best housing yet in any mmo.

- fishing with props (tent, camp fire, parasol, chair, buckets of lures) recipes, bloated fish with goodies inside like rare gems and boon potions that time forgot, grey items that sell for many gold pieces like 1,5,10,15,20, – fun fishing outfits both crafted and sold in the BLTP
- switchable outfitter slots that hold the outfit taking it out of the inventory
- housing like Rifts/LOTRO
- a small button for minis on the bar
- 25% run speed boost on all the time for engineers
- sniper kit as a better Rifle option
- I too would love the notification of a friend coming on and offline, but put it in a window that sticks to the top of the chat window so that it’s not cluttering up chat when this occurs.
- more metas many many more metas
- removal of DR at least until someone can get a handle on these bugs. ( permaDR accountwide, chests disappearing from boss/dragon fights, no loot from vets/champs, and grey loot from the wooden chests when they appear)

Why does ascended armor need better stats?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

The “core argument at play” boils down to:

“My opinion > Your opinion, because my opinions are facts”

Wrong. The core argument at play is “why bother having better stats on Ascended gear if the entire point was to introduce the Agony mechanic?”.

Granted, it’s somewhat flawed since the second stated reason for Ascended gear was to “bridge the gap” between Exotic and Legendary….but on the other hand, there was no actual statistical gap between those two sets of gear whatsoever. The only “gap” was a perceived gap in the amount of grinding, which….was supposed to be the point, I’m pretty sure.

So the question being asked is entirely fair: why bother increasing the stats?

If you’re not going to read the discussion, don’t bother posting in it.

I don’t know why you’re so arrogant, but the reason it needs better stats is to give people a tangible reward for their time. Duh.

If it isn’t cosmetic, and it only gives resistance to a passive effect, do you really think people would try to achieve the reward? No, they wouldn’t. The gear would, in effect, be useless. Fractal levels don’t only scale the agony, but inflate enemy stats as well.

So while you’d gear up with pink text and resistance, you would in essence be becoming weaker as you progressed in difficulty. This is the opposite effect of player progression and would probably feel really bad during game play.

This is obvious. So obvious in fact, that I’m surprised you didn’t see it what with your all-knowing attitude.

It’s definitely not an arrogant question. It’s an all too honest one. There was no gap between the exotic and legendary except the extreme 250 of everything needed just to make a legendary. And if we are to believe it’s solely for the purpose of having an agony then how do you explain this? (image below) If they were truly giving a slightly better reward for the time of gearing for agony dungeons, then add 1 extra point per stat on the ascended gear, not what they are doing with it now. Biiig big difference there.

Anet really should comment on this, and tell how why they’re changing things to such an extreme.

They have and sadly the verdict is not good, they’ve basically decided to keep everything that’s controversial, game breaking, and that harms the player community.

I learned that as a legit farmer the day they said “they love legit farmer type players and they want nothing more then to adjust DR to make it not harm the players anymore” and then turn right around the next week and nerf the last dragon event’s loot so that it no longer drops any rares anymore unless you’re one of the “secret loot table lottery winners” that seems to be rampant. One side of the aisle is getting nothing while another is getting every drop.

About elitism in MMOs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

The only way to be satisfied is find other full time GW2 players and start an All-Star guild leave the other segments of the game alone.

That’s usually what they do, and then people start whining about how all the groups in gw2lfg.com are looking for warriors or mesmers.

I’d suggest you go form your own casual guild, but I know how that turns out; casual guild leader can’t log in for days, and the guild suddenly collapses, or the entire guild is so casual that, except for 1-2 hours each weekend, you might as well be alone in the guild (I saw this community wide in TOR; the game was practically a ghost town during off-peak hours).

How about all the leetists join in one big guild then the pugs which are made for the casuals incidently won’t have to deal with the name calling the bad attitudes and the lack of concern for the teams fun. And we won’t have to listen to someone scream Lrn2play or go form a guild every time someone points out a flaw in the design of something. That would solve the entire issue cause I can tell you right now bud, statistically, the leetists are definitely the minority at this point in time, it wasn’t like that in 1998 mind you but now in this market it definitely is, y’all are just going to have to get used to use poor casuals, explorers, crafters, RPers, legit farmers cause we sure aren’t going anywhere especially in this economy.

My theory is that Anet realized that the people who followed their initial ideals weren’t enough (probably in the 1.5mil?) and they wanted more players so they introduced traditional MMO features like gear treadmills, daily fetch quests and soon to come blizz-like rated team arenas.
In my opinion this isn’t a good plan for the long run.
By catering to everyone and noone at the same time you have a game that has something for everyone, but a lot everyone won’t like.
And those new players they have gotten by trading in the manifesto early I suspect are people who will jump ship at the next new MMO, so we’ll be left with a community made by “the loyals”… the problem is that to rely on loyals, you need to be loyal to them as well.

But ultimately GW2 hit the market in a moment where nobody has anything of quality ready with a product that is of high quality and developed for years; with no real competitors, they can do whatever they want.
It’ll be years before anything remotely comparable comes out, so they rule like that and we don’t have any option (unless you want to go play those ridiculous MMOs there are around).

By market standards this is “success”.

Well they’ve lost LOTS of loyals who would have stayed with their game if they had catered to them like every prelaunch interview was telling us. There are some titles coming out that will give them a run for their money and sure they have some things in those titles that people liked leaving behind but they also are giving the things people want in their game that Anet has slowly destroyed, reward for time spent is one big one and It’s why people like me who wanted this game to be his new online home are leaving disappointed.

I’m frankly quite tired of not having the things I was told in their interview questionaires about the direction this game was heading. I’m tired of being told we’re working on it when it comes to the issues of loot and DR instead of pressing the reset button of crafting being left by the wayside, and I’m frankly tired of the lack of content in the form of DE Meta’s which were supposed to be the real focus of this game.

Ascended gear higher stats is just the icing honestly.

I’m not one of those who bounces from game to game, I spend hours researching everything I can about a game especially an MMO before buying. What they did in November….. words cannot express my frustration at this point. Lack of trust.
