I really like the Ancestral Outfit and think the Armor Team did an awesome job. However, one of the dye channels seems to be off. You are unable to make the dragon on the right arm the same color, without “hiding” the designs on the outfit itself. Is this intentional? Even if it is, could you please alter it so that the whole costume can be seen/enjoyed? Thanks for reading!
PS: I tried adding two screens, to show the differences.
A group of four of us (all the same level as the spider or above) just spent forty minutes killing this spider. I’m pretty sure his health is messed up.
This was in Mount Maelstrom at the Rata Pten Ruins heart.
And let’s not even get started on the projectiles favored by mesmers…I file the whole thing under “suspension of disbelief”.
I wouldn’t say it’s impossible once you realize that Mesmers clearly have telekinetic abilities. That would explain how they can levitate a greatsword between their hands while shooting energy beams from it and how simply slashing the air in front of enemies can push them back.
In the book “Sea of Sorrows” they explicitly state that Macha fires magic bullets from her pistol. I think that’s how most Mesmers do it.
I have to use Primevil chest to match with the acended plate and then i follow the color scheme, I reverse dye the boots to match my minal color of pride dye used on my shoulder cloth, arm brace and FOTM back ribbon.
Redemption dye for the gold
Celetrial or white for the white
Abyss for the black on chest
black for black on pants
LOL at the guy in the top right corner of your upper picture.
I don’t understand why people keep saying “only if the other classes get it too.” The other classes already have it…
But Elementalist have 4 ATTUNEMENTS (FIRE, EARTH, WATER AND, AIR) to use with one set weapon/set – the others do not. So in essence you have 4 different types of attacks with one weapon/set. Ele’s already have 2 more sets of than the other professions.
And, once again, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with out of combat.
I don’t understand why people keep saying “only if the other classes get it too.” The other classes already have it…
Thanks so much Jeknar!!! I watched it and sent the link to my friend.
For anyone wondering, Jessica confirms it at about 15:05!
I understand that – it is a no go unless ALL professions have the same thing.
Sorry no – OP.
This makes absolutely NO sense. Eles and Engis are the only class that can NOT one button swap weapons, out of combat. They have to go into their Inventory or Equipment screens and manually click the weapons. Every other class has a second set ready and only has to press one button out of combat.
You, literally, have no valid complaint against the idea.
Throwing my support in for an OOC weapon swap! If nothing else, we deserve those extra two slots to hold weapons, that all the other classes get for free.
Yeah, I know that I can apply the skin as many times as you want, just like the others. I just want to see where the Devs confirmed that base skin gets unlocked along with the Mistforged Skin. Basically, how the Blade Shard back pieces unlocked their previous forms too.
My Guildmate and I were discussing it, but we haven’t found an article confirming or denying it. =/
Could you show me where?
With certain other skins, when you get the “upgraded” skin, it also unlocks the “lesser” version of the skin. Has it been stated whether or not that will apply to the Mistforged Weapons? Like, if I buy the Mistforged Staff, will that also unlock the Hero’s Staff Skin as well?
Congratulations Fellow Denravians!
Maybe they’ll give everyone extra tickets as a “thank you for being patient.”
Yeah, like colored metal or obsidian. Sorry I wasn’t more clear. =)
I like a lot of the weapons skins that Anet has released, but I would like a set that is made of some kind of black material, like onyx or obsidian. I don’t particularly care what effects it has.
Would anyone else like this?
I’m fine with them being able to take care of themselves. When it came to the personal story I always felt more like I had kids to babysit, rather than allies to accompany me.
I wouldn’t mind some Spartan armor for the guys.
I did this in Age of Conan. Here, have a gander at Sneakytim.
Well, hello there, SneakyTim!
I think the simplest solution would be to say that their traditions evolved from worshiping gods to channeling the aspects those gods represent. Ex) instead of Praying to Dwayna, they invoke the wind.
Yeah, I did. I was very happy!
I wouldn’t mind some Spartan armor for the guys.
I just want some pants options for female light armor. Something similar to the Light Male Ascalonian pants would be nice. Without any extra cape/skirt pieces added to it.
I’ve tried to read everything in this thread, so I hope I didn’t miss this (or forget I read it over the past few days).
Has anyone considered the possibility that Anise is Livia daughter? They share some physical characteristics.
I need to go back and look at this boat, but something interesting to consider: Canthan ships had Red Sails.
I’ve been having weird issues since the Festival started. If I go into the Crown Pavilion, my FPS drops down to 6 FPS. However, I can participate in a 3-way battle in SM, with no issues at all.
Obviously, trying to fight in the Gauntlet is quite impossible for me. LOL =)
+1
This is an amazing idea!
The others can be bought from the Gem Store too, so that’s not really an answer.
I think the actual question should be: Why is this the only Permanent Contract NOT in the Black Lion Chests?
I’d rather have a barber than those kits. Especially if accepted gold OR gems. I just really like little things like that used to expand the overall world.
Oh, you didn’t mention the killing part before. LOL I couldn’t figure out why a Panda pet was bad.
Now, srsly Anet, couldn’t you be a little more darting at creating the difference in npcs?
:P
Trahearne is just trying to make some money on the side.
What are the chances of us getting Cantha now that GW2 is in China?
As far as I know they find "everything’ slightly “Asian themed” offensive and inappropriate. Remember Pandas in WoW?GW1 released factions even though the game was available in a lot of asian countries. Panda’s were originally a charmable pet but had to be removed due because of cultural issues, but apart from that there weren’t any problems.
What’s wrong with Pandas?
There really isn’t a legitimate reason to state that other races couldn’t tap the powers of the human gods, in order to be a Dervish, if that were the route that the Devs wanted to take. With the exception of the Sylvari, all of the non human races believe/acknowledge the existence of the human gods. They may not worship them, but they at least admit that they are very powerful beings. Even the Charr admit as much.
All the races and classes already tap into various power sources in order to wield magic, so it’s not that far fetched to think that there would be individuals willing to tap into the human gods in order to gain more power.
However, the one thing that would definitely have to change, would be referring to any of their skills as “Prayer to…..”. And again, this is if they went with continuing to say the powers were from the gods themselves as opposed to focusing on various aspects, as stated by TriggerSad.
(edited by videoboy.4162)
Lorewise, dervish is a no-no. All of their magical power came from prayers to the human gods, that creates a way too big of a conflict to retcon to make space for dervishes of other races.
Also, dervish didn’t use light armor, they used medium.
Other classes still get powers from the gods, so I don’t see why Dervish couldn’t. Even the Priests and Priestesses of Orr are still empowered by their respective gods.
My theory, is that the shuttered gate doesn’t lead to the actual Dominion of Winds “city”, but rather leads to what the Tengu consider waters controlled by the Dominion of Winds and, possibly, a Tengu controlled port.
I say this because, looking at both maps, it looks like the area immediately West of LA is almost entirely water. Stormbluff Isle and Garenhoff’s Castle seem to be the only pieces of “land” existing in that area, other than the actual coast, which seems to be the backside of a mountain (so it’s probably cliffs). Controlling those waters would be a good way to protect their Eastern wall from attacks by sea.

It’d be pretty cool to see Zergs that weren’t all of on top of each other and looked like actual battalions of soldiers!
New weapons personally. I’d rather see a large uplift in number of weapon types for variety and that would likely be much easier to balance than adding skills for exisiting weapons. I can see that being a nightmare to track and abalnce (given the insane headache GW1 caused the dev team)
I’d like more weapon choices, but as for the other option:
I wonder if they could just design skills that only fit into certain slots for each weapon? Then, each slot could just contain an attack that was equal in damage to the original, but look different to allow for more customization.
Ex) Staff Ele: Instead of throwing a fireball for 200 damage with attack 1, maybe it could look like a missile instead? Or be shaped like a Phoenix.
That might be hard with melee weapons though.
I agree with the people that wish they hadn’t reduced the amount of options for the Dailies, but I do like that they combined the categories.
I’ve noticed people mentioning that they are unhappy with the Event Daily. I would suggest doing the Queensdale Champ Train. There are usually a lot of people doing it, so it only takes a few minutes to hit all five events for your Daily Quota.
Also, if you have them, those Skill Point Scrolls are a fast way to do Accumulator. =)
I’d like more Emotes too. =)
Chris,
You really shouldn’t have to apologize for being too busy with the primary aspects of your job, to post in Forums/on Social Media. In all honesty, people need to grow up and realize that people like Danicia are the ones that supposed to be (and are) posting here and stop demonizing the rest of you for being to bust to do so.
Your interaction with us is definitely appreciated by the majority of us, but said majority also understands that you go out of your way to be here and chat with us, in addition to your actual responsibilities. =)
no offense to danica, but she is a cop.
Her primary purpose and skill set is policing the forum. She isnt actually (or at at least doesnt seem to be) someone who can lead discussions and act as an inbetween for the devs and the players various issues and questions. Its a hard job to fill, but i think it would be worthwhile to get someone whose job it is to serve that purpose
IIRC, Danicia’s title is “Community Coordinator”. That’s why she’s the one that has been making these feedback topics and merging multiple topics into one. I’m pretty sure moderations is a side responsibility and not her primary one.
Either way, if you check the Dev Tracker, you can see that the employees that have been assigned to the forums, have actually been on the forums. =)

So why does it ask to charge each time you dye your armor if the system is free. Yes I clearly see its 0 now but why say charge?
All it’s doing is verifying that you liked the dyes you picked and weren’t just previewing new colors. If you had looked at it, you’d have seen the charge number says 0.
I’m just really happy to see that they’ve taken a big step towards giving Light Armor females a pair of pants. For your next set, Anet, will you give us a straight up pair of pants, without any added “dress” cloth pieces?
Although, I agree that there is too much of a discrepancy between male and female armors that are supposed to be part of the same set.
On another positive note, this female light armor seems to be one of their best crafted/designed yet.
Why don’t you just take advantage of the new Guild Feature that will allow you to start World Events at your leisure (mostly)? Put all your people on the map at an off time and do what you normally would.
I like your suggestion! Maybe they’ll do this on Tuesday, so people can start working on filling their Wardrobes. =)
race restrictions on armor are pointless, still thinking inside the current system, there should be a way to get a race’s aproval, so lets say you complete certain achievements and that certain race will accept you in their ranks so you now can wear their special clothes.
a pretty simple system and an extra goal for completionists
Yeah, some sort of reputation system would be amazing. Maybe a combination of map completion and dynamic events around that race’s home city for tokens to ‘unlock’ the vendors.
Apart from the work required to modify each race’s armour for everyone else – which I am certain would be minimal – it’s a win-win. We get more cosmetic options and a proper incentive to do event chains and explore the world.
A reputation system might be a good way to make use of the Personality System, since it currently serves no large purpose.
Snipped
Speaking from a technological standpoint, Twyll, I don’t think it’s possible for them to roll out the Wardrobe and keep Town Clothes going under the old system. The new TC system is already built into the Wardrobe and taking it out/trying to turn that particular piece off, would most likely break the entire Wardrobe.
I think our best bet, is to hope that they’re listening(reading) to everyone and that they take the time to convert the Town Clothes that became Tonics into Armor Skins. I’m not sure if they would do that with Outfits (though I would hope so) since Outfits existed before the Wardrobe anyway.
In my Charr example (and pretty much the only one due to nudity), I doubt they have an alternate version laying around for females.
As for Sylvari, it’s kind of a mix of problems. The models are already there for both sexes, and even if we ignore how weird it’d look, there’s sort of a nudity problem. With Sylvari it isn’t so bothersome, but on another race it would look quite skimpy (I’m not so much against it, but QQ’ers will flock).
I see where you’re coming from, with your mentioning of the female Charr and that particular armor. I’m trying to recall if I ever saw that particular scenario when people used to be able to wear the armor of other cultures, but I can’t recall seeing that one. Maybe someone else in here saw it and knows how it worked out?
@videoboy
Please let me try get this straight. Your whole position seems to be that NPCs wear Town Clothing into battle, so that means we should be able to wear Town Clothing into battle too.
Let us assume (although there is nothing to prove it) that the NPCs you mention are in garb that would be called “Town Clothing” if it were available to players.
SO WHAT?
What is the argument? If you want to say that those NPCs fight in Town Clothes, fine; those NPCs fight in Town Clothes. You will be able to fight in Town Clothes too after the 15th. We can fight in Town Clothes NOW (Costume Brawl). Peasants will run out of the fields and fight with pitchforks wearing their town clothes. It is very believable that you don’t have to be in armor in order to fight. You are correct! And we have repeatedly stated we are not against wearing Town Clothes into combat.
So what’s your problem? What’s your argument? I really don’t see why you keep yakking about NPCs wearing Town Clothes into combat. What is the point of it all? You are shooting with no target.
We are against the way this is being implemented. It is directly affecting the wallets of many people, which is always a hot-button issue. With time, we may see more cusomizability (mix ‘n’ match) again, but we have already put a lot of time and effort into achieving our goal. All of that is being thrust aside as if it meant nothing. THAT is the big issue in this thread. The way this change is being instituted is hurting people that have invested lots of time and money in the game. NOBODY cares if your precious NPCs are fighting in Town Clothing or not. That has nothing to do with what we are talking about.
If you had bothered to read the post of mine that Sonia initially replied to, which you obviously didn’t before jumping in, you’d know the answer to your question. However, you didn’t bother. Neither did she.
Another poster entirely, took the position that Town Clothes shouldn’t be allowed in combat, and used the claim that the game made a distinction between what Tyrians fouht in and what they only wore in town. I responded to that person and pointed out why there was a precedent set in this same game, that goes against that position and named numerous NPCs that were designed to fight and did so in Town Clothes. (I later mentioned the fact that fighting in Costumes/Outfits has existed since Guild Wars.)
And, without reading Sonia replied to me with a straw man argument about NPCs never changing clothes. That’s nice (and true) but had nothing to do with people fighting in normal clothing in Tyria.
I’m totally bored with this whole conversation, so if you still can’t comprehend what I’m saying, then I guess you just won’t be able to and I shouldn’t bother any longer.
TL;DR: One poster said it went against the game to fight in Town Clothes. I pointed out to him why it didn’t.
And FYI: A few of those Town Clothes that you so cutely try to claim are Armor, were actually Town Clothes in Beta.

I wish they would do away with the Racial Restriction to Cultural Armor. With all the (playable) races coming together more and more, it seems natural that there would be people that would take an interest in the fashion of other cultures and imitate it. We already have a bunch of Non-Norns running around in Braham’s Armor, which is clearly all Norn.
