It’s not the carved-wood style that is aesthetically less pleasing.

Leaving a red flag like that will get you flame. Regardless of what one asks for, it’s not in good taste to claim one thing or another is universally aesthetically less pleasing than another.

It’ll only take flame if you take that single passage out-of-context with the rest of the post. The OP made it clear that he was expressing his personal opinion.

Asking for more variety doesn’t seem like a bad thing, in my opinion.

I could quote the whole thing and it wouldn’t change a thing – nowhere in the post, much less in the paragraph, was this stated as an opinion. It obviously is the OP’s personal opinion – the problem is that it wasn’t presented as such.

The second sentence makes it abundantly clear that he was presenting his personal thoughts.

I like your idea about a little bar, Druj. Maybe they could do something similar to the WXP Bar at the top of the screen in WvW? It’s pretty tiny and non-distracting.

Most of the previous posters have covered my feelings on the Tempest, so I’ll just add one thing (unless I just missed someone else saying it) :

I feel like the overloads are a visual disappointment. They sound like they should be a really big move in your bag of tricks (because the stupid filter won’t let me use the word I wanted), but aren’t any more visually stunning than any other attack. I tried them all out and I was just thinking “that’s it?”.

The basic animations are cool, but there is still a lot of room for improvement, to make them look like you’re actually overloading your power.

Yeah, it’s not clear at all when you get something as part of the new system or as just a random drop. If I hadn’t known that an Ancient Bone was the current reward, I wouldn’t have known it wasn’t just a drop.

I agree with what you’d like to see. I was trying to test out the new system earlier, but I’m still not sure exactly how it works. I did a single event, and got an Ancient Bone. Then, it took me two events to get another bone.

Does it take an additional even each time, to get the next reward? It’s not very clear to me.

Legendary and Ascended share the same stats, so what difference would it really make?

Would allow to change its stats anywhere.

For some people like me who likes experimenting, would be good, but the only ascended pieces that I have is rings and amulets and none legendary weapons. Does not worth the effort for me, the grind is too much.

The effort might not be viable to accomplish this.

I was mainly responding to the people complaining about progression. Ascended and Legendary share the same stats, so the progression doesn’t go any higher than it already is.

[Suggestion] Human Male Hairstyles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: videoboy.4162

videoboy.4162

That’s your opinion, but not mine nor a fact. Faces do matter a lot when it comes to hairstyles -ask any hairdresser. There already are some quite kitten hairstyles (both mohawk styles, the undercut and some more) but the male humans still look like from a boyband – because they’ve got baby faces. It’s not that hard to understand, is it?

Yes, it’s an opinion, thank you captain obvious. You views are also opinions. Seriously, though, what’s your problem, Jana? This is simply a thread asking for more variety in human hairstyles, why do you sound so opposed to that idea? It’s not like this is a “nerf profession X or buff profession Y” thread.

Honestly, some people just have to argue for the sake of arguing. (rolls eyes)

Anyways, let’s keep this thread relevant to the topic at hand, yeah? Here’s some more examples of hairstyles I think we should have (along with facial hair concepts, to boot). Also, I threw in a batch of female hairstyles as well, even though males need a bit more help in the “cooler styles” department. :p

I want ALL of these. Especially that braid on the blonde female. Preferably with movement.

Ugh, you’d think a game that puts such emphasis on Cosmetics would apply physics to the hair. I’ve played games for the Super Nintendo with better hair physics.

Anet, why are you making me sad?

What SNES game had hair physics? Do you know what physics are in 3D animation?

In case you don’t, basically in 3D you can have the computer calculate when and where two polygons are touching, and you can have the computer calculate what happens when those two polygons collide. You can make them bounce off of each other, stick together, slide, etc.

Now consider how many polygons are used on a character in a modern game like GW2. There’s probably between 7,000 and 15,000 per player character. MMO polygon budgets are more restricted than single player AAA games. Now imagine having 500 or so of those polygons bouncing off of each other for hair physics. Now multiply that by 50 or 100 players on screen. Now add in the particle effects and all the other stuff. Do you see where I’m going with this?

Doing raw hair physics, or any raw physics for that matter, is the most expensive way to process it. Sure it looks good… IF it runs at all. However, it’s much better for optimization to design hair, cloth, etc, to approximate real physics. There’s a number of ways to do that.

Pocahontas and X-Men: Rise of Apocalypse to name two. There are many more. I’m not asking for super life-like hair, just some movement to make it seem more like actual hair and not a hat.

Personally, I would be more concerned about why you suddenly go bald when you put a hat or helm on – This is by far the most obvious cosmetic feature that needs fixing.

LOL I never wear head gear, for that very reason. I feel like GW1 handled that problem by adding a dye channel for hair attached to a headpiece (like that new Dwayna Outfit in GW2). Not sure why they didn’t do that in this game more.

If you dig around, you’ll see that Anet has already stated that the personal story now happens in the past. So, it really doesn’t matter whether your character has done the story yet or not.

There should be some signs that Orr is healing. If nothing else, they could just have the original, personal story take place on a special server, that still shows an entirely corrupted Orr, while the main map is now showing signs of healing.

We need a barber shop

My thought on it, is that they should introduce the Barber Shop, but still charge gems for the service. Just less than the cost of the kits.

Actually, instead of a Barber Shop, make it a spa that offers the facial changes too. If it were a little cheaper, I think more people would pay to use it. Also, having be an in-game location would serve to expand the community in a positive way and also cater to role players.

Edit: OK, this profanity filter really needs to be looked into. There’s no reason I couldn’t say “a bit…cheaper” just because certain letters line up. -_-

Women do wear chunky boots with more feminine clothes.

…and vice versa.

In fact, I think it’s more typical to mix stuff up like that, than to wear outfits where everything is super-feminine.

Almost nothing you said pertains to my original statement about the lazy design on the boots…

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

The simplest solution would be to reveal that someone finally found a way to reverse the Rite. Reversing it could even be part of their PS intro. The Lore currently states that everyone is far more powerful than beings were 250 years ago, so it’s not that big of a stretch to say a solution was found.

But for there to be a solution, there first needs to be a problem. In their stoned state, the dwarves are much stronger and more focused than they normally are. Why would they want to become flesh? Why would anyone want them to become flesh?

The problem would be that their race can’t thrive in their stone forms. Each time one of the stone dwarves is destroyed, that’s one dwarf closer towards complete annihilation. They need to procreate to let their race live on.
