And here I thought the Casuals were only 1 %

Guess why so many people register as ‘casual’ with a limited time budget?
Read any recent statistic about Gamers – many of us are part of the working population or even have a family to take care of, thus limited time to grind stuff for hours on end.

I didn’t mind the 400 point wall (much). On the other hand, I am quite happy that I’ll be able to try out the elite specialisations on my alts, too – I have so little time left for gaming that the new requirements make it much easier for me to actually enjoy the content at my own pace.

(Frigging pocket raptors keeping me in combat mode too long….)

The secret to dealing with pocket raptors is…

Deep pockets.

I just love’em.

- Player runs towards them
- “Oh, cute little raptors. Never mind, I can just ignore them”
- Player get’s crippled
- “Hm, kind of annoying.”
- Bleed is stacking, they actually hit like the big ones
- “What the…”
- Player downed
- Player dead

I love those – I just drop basically all my Marks and Wells on them, slip into Death Shroud and DS4 or DS2 them into oblivion (May drop my health to half if I’m lazy)
Say what you want about necros, but we do have decent AoE survivability.
Takes less than a minute.
(There’s a reason I don’t run a melee-single-DPS optimized build.)

<annoyed adult mode>

o.O …. is this post a joke? Exactly how old are you, and why would you think it’s relevant to your question that you are a girl?
Kids these days rollseyes

You basically want to look pretty and be able to do everything, right? (Why would you want tons os DPS if you really just want to heal people? You can’t excel in both at the same time, you know.)
Have you ever thought of maybe taking the time to scroll through the “Players helping Players” section, where aprox. 9000 people already asked your question?
</annoyed adult mode>

Also, there is no single profession that can focus on healing only – GW2 is built on the idea that you are largely responsible for keeping yourself alive. There are, however, professions which are better at supporting others, such as the elementalist and the guardian (and, apparently, the ranger with the new elite specialisation – but you’d have to be lvl 80 for that).

Also, consort the wiki about where to get more pets. Pet hunting is fun and takes you to all kinds of places. You might also like to do you personal story, though its rewards do get kinda pointless when you are way beyond the required level…

Bought the game, no living story season2?

in Living World

Posted by: Frotee.2634

Frotee.2634

Also, you should keep in mind that the Living Story content is made for max level players who already know their way around the game.
If you just bought the game – take your time, play through your personal story in the base game first (it IS the basis for the following living story content after all), see if you like the gameplay, which profession you’d like to make your main, etc… and then you can decide if you want to pay for S2. Because you’ll still have that opportunity.
You bought a full game – a game the rest of us was playing for 1-2 years before the living story came around. You simply bought it so late that now you’ll have to pay for the additional content the ‘early adopters’ got for free. Any free, additional content that comes out after you bought the game will be free for you as well, so cheer up!

Hows build diversity ? I mean , I want to be a Tank , is that possible ?

Nope. you can’t be a tank. You can be tanky, but that’s not the same thing.

In most games, tanks control aggro. There’s no real way to control aggro in this game. There’s no way to guarantee you’ll be the one attacked.

Likewise there are some bosses that no matter how tanky you are, you’re not just going to be able to stand there and take hits.

This game was designed to not have dedicated tanks or healers.

That being said, you can still be more tanky or less tanky depending on your profession and armor choice. My necro is a LOT more tanky than my ele or my mesmer, as is my guardian (who feels fairly boring though).
Do you want to be tanky as in taking heat off of other characters? Then look into something that has a good boon output, like the guardian. If you just want to be able to neglect dodging a bit more without being killed too quickly, you have a variety of choices – I personally prefer my necro for this.

The individual chests for the dailies? Genious. But the original design philosophy of rewarding players who have very little time for just playing the game normally, wherever they like…I really miss that. Can we have some of that back please?

~~~ snip ~~~
I’m sorry, but all I’m hearing is “it’s too hard”.
Yes, it is ‘too hard’ – too hard to coordinate the whole map without reading up on where the individual events spawn and when, and getting enough people do go to the right places at the right time – because it is just not intuitive.
I am perfectly fine with events requiring coordination – so long as the game shows you the way to succeed if you just care to look. I adored the Marionette events, which were very easy to coordinate and explain, yet had a hardcap of players required to have a decent chance at succeeding (who had to have some idea of what to do, but could learn that from other players or from reading the boss-info on the bosses). There was no guaranteed win here, yet most people agreed that they were very much doable. Most of all, the majority of coordination required was intuitive.
The Boss Blitz (in part due to the fact that it was already there last year and worked differently then) and the Dry Top ‘events’ are not.
And really, why would every player always work towards gold – maybe they are just following the story, or trying to get the diving achievement, or find the legendary lama, or all of the coins, or enjoy the landscape?
A selection mechanism of some kind which asks you if you just want to hang around or if you want to work towards gold would really be kind of cool. Even better if it’d kick you out if you weren’t participating in any event for a specific length of time (say, 7 Minutes).
Marionette: Cmdrs on overflow, pavilion no
in Festival of the Four Winds
Posted by: Frotee.2634
Frotee.2634
Marionette also made it
1. very obvious you had to split and
2. very easy to count how many people you had in each lane (thereby making it much, much easier to split people up properly.
In the pavilion, people (who are not just ‘farming’ areas to get 50 kills in each) will just congregate in the center, then follow the group. The design of the pavilion just doesn’t lend itself to intuitively splitting people up into equal sized groups – combined with the fact that zerging was perfectly fine (and profitable) last year.
Frotee.2634
I agree wholeheartedly with the OP and with Nilkemia.
I was really looking forward to getting the runes this time around (somehow managed to forget that the last time around), but they are not there ;_;
And while the boss fights are nice this time, I just don’t see how I could possibly enjoy farming monsters inside an arena which doesn’t even give decent loot…I don’t enjoy farming, period. I certainly wouldn’t do it if I wasn’t a collector of meta achievements, and I am really angry at feeling compelled to do this in my currently very very rare free time (organizing a wedding while working up to 11 hours a day 6 days a week is not fun). The least they could do was to give me decent loot for it >_> I’m not even asking for anything beyond what we get from open world mobs.
If it wasn’t for the zephyrite part, I’d probably just take a break from GW2 for a couple of weeks as it is.
Edit: …and it seems as if I can’t even just do the daily LS stuff to make up for achievements I find boring and stupid. WHY?! o.O I loved this feature!
transmute for runes and stats gone?
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Posted by: Frotee.2634
Frotee.2634
Hey Anet,
Liking some of the updates but how do I transmute my stat and runes now? Great I can transmute skins but I am not buying another rune.
example:
I have gloves with power, precision, healing with a superior rune of undead. I decided I wanted to change it to power, vitality, condition damage. I bought the new gloves and went to transmute them so I have the new stats and my old rune, but I can’t. I either do not know how to with this new patch or the team did not consider this. I really hope it’s the first.
I am confused about the complaint. are you trying to change the look of your new item?
or are you trying to get a rune out a red item and put it into something new?
He/She is trying to get a rune from one stat-combo set to another. While undead runes are dirt cheap, other rune sets would seriously hurt your wallet when you decide to change the stat combo of your armor (i.e. buy or craft a new one) …
And the only solution appears to involve the gemshop. Which also hurts your wallet. Had the same problem yesterday, was not amused :/
Game Updates: Traits
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Posted by: Frotee.2634
Frotee.2634
I love the idea of unlocking your traits in a fashion similar to the original GW1 elite skills.
I am far less enthusiastic about the implementation. I won’t even go into the level appropriate-ness of several trait-unlocks (they are ridiculously over the top in many, many cases) – but requiring large scale group events for unlocking personal character growth is less than ideal, particularly when this requires you to fail specific events. It is bad enough that several ‘retake’ events give you far better/more loot than the respective defend events, but now you need to stand around watching events fail to get your traits! How is this going according to plan?
Also, personal character development should be soloable and far less dependent on arbitrary event timers. It should be something I can do in between other stuff, on my own time, not something requiring 50+ other players (hello karka queen pre-events) and 1h+ playtime (hello dungeons – not everything is as quick as AC and CoF).
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Frotee.2634
I really loved the idea of being able to unlock traits by playing specific parts of the game, even challenges – but the way it is handled right now is ridiculus. Unlocking traits is something I do for the personal development of my character – binding it to mega-events (or most other content requiring a substantial amount of other players) is hardly satisfying. Yes, you can always pay up for it, but that should be a convenience option for experienced players leveling alts, not the only viable solution for new players.
So much for the massive multiplayer experience.
Unfortunately, turning off all chat is exactly what hurts mega-events which require a minimum of coordination…
So not only are those obsessed with defending their precious champ runs (and whatever else they use as an excuse to abuse other players) ruining the fun for unassuming players, they are hurting everyone’s chances at having a fun and successful experience at the kind of LS content ArenaNet loves to push out.
