The commander changes ARE meaningful and they are a direct result of the CDIs.

I suggest you go back and skim through the Commander CDI. Hundreds of valid suggestions were brought forward that would’ve made commanding drastically easier, including macro commands and better commander tools (something more than /squadinfo or /supplyinfo). Instead of those really good suggestions, we got commander colour tags, a watered down version of what was suggested, which was guild commander tags using the guild emblem as the icon and such… It’s a kick in the gut basically, for long term WvW players.

I’m a fan of ANet’s game, but the lack of dev support for WvW is making me look elsewhere for my go-to MMO.

If reviving keep lords get removed, then breaking into structures and capping it must also be made harder. It’s already too easy as it is.

In real life, it is said you need 10 attackers for every defender in a siege. In GW2, it’s more of a 1:1. Removing the mechanic to revive lords will just destroy what little defensive play we have left in the game.

1. Complete nerf of siege damage onto players
2. Removal of barriers towards fights (such as the perma contest on waypoints)
3. Removal of crappy terrain that makes it hard to find other players to fight
4. Introducing more end-game rewards for playing WvW (especially for ascended and legendary item crafting)
5. A rethink on the server system, perhaps by merging servers.

It’s been like this for us as well, for a long time. I’ve known this issue for years and honestly, I think it’s intentional in some way. I’ve tagged up quite a few nights in the past month, getting about 30 people on tag, and having to face 2 groups of 20+, while our map is queued.

I think it’s some form of dynamic population control on the map that doesn’t take into account which server you’re from, so like, the whole EBG map might have a cap of 240 (80 on each side if ideal circumstances are met), but on some days, servers stuff up with the queue timers, resulting in one side getting 100, one side getting 90, and one side getting 50, and because the queues, the side with 50 can’t get any more people in until the other sides lose people.

I’m sure you’ve all noticed having to wait at position 1 in queue for ages sometimes, while other times, you could be at position 5, then all of a sudden queue in.

Can we get a recall on this? Or, at least a recall on whomever actually thought of this??? Oh, and in typical Anet fashion, no one cared to communicate with the player base and ask if it’s something we’d enjoy first.

ANet? Communicate with WvW players? When’s that ever happened outside a couple guys who came in here to talk about security measures and banning hackers (love those guys).

It’s always been them dictating to us what they think is good for the game, which has resulted in drastic declines in the hardcore population in the only hardcore game mode they have.

Remove WvW Linking - Give Us Back Our Servers

There’s not enough commanders/leaders willing to lead dead servers back to life. No guilds left like War Machine that are able to solo carry entire servers. There’s no point to get rid of links at this point because even now, there’s not enough leaders to go around to keep servers alive and healthy.

I’m absolutely fine with the ability to res NPCs. It helps to stop PVDooring if you got a warrior on hand to run in and banner, followed by other warriors in case there was a map zerg waiting for him.

If you can’t stop a lord from being ressed, well, you don’t deserve to take the keep.

I had someone mention this to me last night while I was commanding; he would lose me when I pushed into the enemy zerg. Perhaps the tag size could be increased a little bit, or raise the contrast on the tags a bit. Either way, it’s been an issue since forever.

Best way to deal with it is to target your commander. Honestly, that red reticle is pretty kitten good for keeping track of where your commander is.

This is going to hurt PvX guilds the most – those that do both WvW and PvE. Considering the vast majority of BG’s 400+ man guilds are PvX, it sure as hell is going to hurt our community.

I know it’s going to be rolled out slowly, but I really hope that at least cities will be kept world only. There’s absolutely no reason for cities to be on the megaserver considering how packed they can get – especially when large guilds do events in certain cities.

I was confused when I got in that I only ever saw 1 commander in each BL. So I asked, and apparently people found multiple commanders confusing and they didnt know where to go. A simple colour coded system for different commander roles so you knew who to report to to do what you wanted to do would make massive headway on that front, but I was really disappointed in the seeming lack of willingness to try to make that coordination happen.

Only T1 servers and maybe some upper T2 guilds can pull off moving with multiple groups across a map. The problem is population – guilded WvW vs pugs. It takes an incredible amount of coordination to pull it off and more often than not, it fails to work due to miscommunication. Commanding militia and pugs is quite a difficult job due to having all kinds of builds and playstyles, trying to get them to work together. Trying to get that to work as a group moving independently to a/nother guilded group is just just takes so much patience that most people just don’t do it.That’s why you generally only see 1 tag, so sheer numbers mask poor composition.

If your server has voice comms, I recommend you join that and ask around in voice comms for help. It’ll be a lot faster than hopping maps asking for help.

Why do you think AoE cleanses in zergs are taken in favour of more offensive utility skills? It’s because condition spam can and does hurt just as much as direct damage

I don’t have problem with the idea of DOT based builds, but there’s just too many different types, and cleanses usually cleanse 3 at a time (guardian can clear all condi but that’s the only class who can, ele’s ether renewal is a joke since it’s so easy to interrupt) when you can apply 4,5,6 or more conditions at the same time. Not to mention most cleanses have ridiculously high cooldowns

I read the Q1 state of the game blog many times, I read the post Gaile made before that about WvW Sneak-Peak (Basically previewing what is in the blog as well). I have no idea why you think I would ignore those. Hell, this threads title is stating The Shatterer update, which is only IN the blog.

Anyway, there’s no notion of some fact that there won’t be more changes, no notion that there won’t be balance changes or anything like that. Obviously what the devs told us is out there, and I’m not gonna dispute that. I merely dispute it when someone states it as fact that “there won’t be more.” Because that would impressive to know.
ArenaNet has been changing stuff for the good or bad without telling anyone many times. It’s not that weird to assume that they won’t with a bigger update.

It’s great that you still have some faith in ANet, but at this point, after almost 3.5 years of disappointment, there’s basically no faith left in ANet from veteran WvW players. WvW has constantly gotten the short end of the stick. Never getting the attention it deserves or the communication that has been required to keep such a game mode running. It’s been supported by the community alone, with every single update by ANet content update to WvW ruining it further and further (The only update I would say has worked well is the masteries update). It’s literally been servers trying to hold the communities together while ANet destroys our game mode.

At this point, with so many promising MMOs on the horizon, WvW looks to just about to be finished. So many WvW players have already started playing Blade and Soul, with many using BnS as a bridge to the next MMO with RvR/WvW such as Crowfall or Camelot Unchained. ESO and Archeage already bled huge chunks of the community away from GW2 and ANet didn’t learn from its lessons back then. Doesn’t look like they’ll learn their lessons now either.

Probably Mercenary Bane. I spend maybe 5% of my time in WvW in EBG, and maybe 0.5% of that time doing the mercenary camps. Utterly useless

Supply is the most important factor in the PPT game. It is quite fitting that it takes 300 ranks to max supply mastery.

In ESO you get more rewards from fighting players than from taking keeps, so there’s less likelihood of karma trains.

Fighting players (in zergs) in GW2 gives more wxp, loot and exp. People still karma train. Why? Because people will look for the easy and safe route to rewards. Unless there’s 0 reward for taking a keep, there will always be some kind of “karma train”

I have 3 different accounts all with commander tags – 2 of those accounts are under rank 150 while my main is around rank 4k.

I play and tag on all 3 accounts for different purposes.

It does me no good if I can’t tag on my alts just because they’re new accounts, because I am a veteran player with plenty of experience playing WvW

Sure, give them burst… but blowing through all a ranger (in full ascended and infused gear) HPs in 2 seconds while I can’t use any skills to negate damage is getting a bit old. I mean come on

If they can take your hp down that quickly, you can take theirs down just as quick. Full glkittenter mesmer is so squishy, a light summer breeze will kill them.

I don’t think the complaints about PvE are valid at all, as PvE in this game isn’t meant to be challenging or taken seriously (well, not until HoT anyway…). Gripes about PvP and WvW, however, are real concerns that have lost tens of thousands of players because of a lack of dev communication and development.

Especially WvW. There’s been basically 0 communication on future updates with the community from developers at all. They don’t get any feedback from the players about their ideas and implement horrible changes that causes huge exoduses from the game. That’s not a “GW2 is free, they’ll be back later” deal. That’s a permanent loss.

There has to be a bug of some sort. SoR is queued right now on green and we can’t get more than 20-25 rallied on our commander. We’ve checked every inch of the map looking for 55 other people running around doing their own thing but they ain’t there.

There were 50-60 SoR on your home BL earlier on. Did you guys check the north east and north west corners of the map? That place often has events popping up and might attract PvE players. There’s also veteran warg, harpy and wurm on the southern side of the map that might attract players, though anyone roaming there should be killed pretty quickly all things considered.

I also see 10-15 people in JPs every time I take a peek in there.

I enjoyed Silverwastes immensely and wondered why the yak/supply mechanic there wasn’t used for WvW in the first place. Supply camps are a nice idea and all, but it just doesn’t work well when it takes only 1 person a couple minutes at most to take it. Much better to just have constant supply yaks running out of spawn towards objectives you own at a decent run speed. The spawning enemies on the yaks path also will make yak walking much more interesting than the occasional centaur or krait.

You need empathy and a heart.

I’m a pugmander. I deal with those players each and every night. Most of them get frustrated at dying repeatedly and leave WvW because it’s not fun when you die so often like that. Those that dont die are usually experienced players who don’t need babysitting.

Being new to the game is fine, but complaining when people give good advice (albeit in a mean way) doesn’t get sympathy from me

I also started WvW as an uplevel and got told to ckuf off. Live and learn.

100% rep rules are idiotic and I don’t understand why people still join those guilds. Too antiquidated in their perceptions of MMO guilds I guess. We’re given 5 guild slots for a reason and there’s 3 distinct game modes, why the heck would you restrict someone to 1 guild is beyond me. I actively encourage my members to find PvE or other PvP guilds to rep as our guild isn’t active 24/7 and doesn’t do PvE. Why should they get shafted just to be with our community for 3-4 hours a night?

That said, yeah it’s not against ToS.

Players who want the traditional trinity want it for one of two reasons:

1, They haven’t found a profession, build or playstyle that suits them yet. Or..
2, The feel of the combat and how it plays overall just doesn’t suit them.

There is a 3ed reason they cant chose for them self when they have a chose they need to have something chosen for them. They want to be in a box and not think outside of it.

There also a 4th but is a support tank only point of view they want to feel important and want other ppl to think them for playing the less played class type. They want to feel self important by the “pain” they must endure.

Uh…you do realize there is only one choice when you play GW2?

I don’t know, throw 5 bunkers at 5 dps centric builds and tell me.

I’d rather wipe them all with a coordinated group that understands the importance of damage, support and control.

And you would get focused and destroyed by a coordinated dps group. It’s why almost all the instances can be soloed unless specifically designed otherwise. There is zero need for anyone else except you.

You don’t sacrifice cc, heals, or buffs when you roll dps. There is no trade off. It’s just skill.

I’d like to meet you in an sPvP arena or in WvW. You sound like an easy kill.

Very very few people in sPvP run pure damage or pure condi because it’s easily countered. Condi gets countered by cc/burst (and Ele diamond skin, but that’s a whole different can of worms), DPS gets countered by bunker/condi, Bunker gets countered by condi/burst.

In WvW, most people run Soldiers, Clerics, Knights, Valkyrie and Dire gear. Why? Because staying alive longer to do more damage over time is more important than hitting big and dying instantly. Why do commanders ask for different fields in WvW? Because support is important. CC is important. Teamwork is important

Of course, it’s not the case in PvE. Stack and spank is all the rage these days. That’s what you get for catering to a casual audience though, and I don’t mind. It just means I can enter any dungeon with my WvW gear and still do well. There’s potential there though. ANet just needs to make bosses attack at the same speed players do. A few bosses where you can’t stack and spank (such as P1 in AC), you can see many many parties wiping because of poor play. More of that is needed.

If we had a trinity, we’d have many players quitting the game. Trinity isn’t fun, new, dynamic or exciting. There wouldn’t be any need to dodge. There wouldn’t be any need to call for different fields/finishers. Combat wouldn’t be as dynamic.

You won’t be able to promote fights in EoTM as there is no central voice comms to use. Trying to fight without comms is like playing sports blind and with hands tied behind your back. It just devolves into whoever has more people and whoever can build arrow carts the fastest

EoTM was used for fights early on, but it soon died out to crappy map design for combat. Pretty as hell, but when combat becomes about who can keep stability up for longer or who can kite the other into siege, it becomes pointless.

Eh, WvW doesn’t take a lot of skill

but running dungeons take even less skill – most of which is just avoiding the insta-gib attack from the NPCs

Is it true Nexon bought a part of NCsoft? If this is true I can see why the community is complaining about this game becoming P2W. Well, I think I just lost motivation to continue playing. I will have nothing to do with Nexon.

It’s not P2W, it’s pay to look good. Looking good just happens to be the endgame.

Good thing you can buy gems with gold

Good thing you can’t casually make gold fast enough to keep up with gem inflation.

Good thing that’s not true. Doing FGS or QD champ train 30 mins-1hr a day will net you maybe 2-3 gold easily in mats and drops. On week later, you have enough to buy stuff in the gem store.
