1. Chrono – shatter mes is already strong and this just straight up buffs it in so many ways. Moa is basicly a death sentence. Double moa stealth opener will win you 9/10 fights and with so much alacrity the 3rd and 4th moa are way under 180s. Add slow, clone/phantasam generation, alacrity basicly being a huge buff for every mesmer skill from shatters to heal, from stealth to portal. maybe add wells and shield too (i dont know what they do), its gonna be sick.
2 & 3 – Herald and Reaper – great specs, bring a lot to the table for pvp, will definitly see lots of play.
4. Druid – we havent seen druid in combat yet, its not finished and it still didnt have a balance pass, so this is more hopefull thinking. But after years ranger could finally have a true viable build. Im thinking DPS spec with lots (relativly speaking) of heals, so it finally can do something unique and be a true alternative for other dps builds that always bring more to the table then the ranger.
Scrapper, beserker, dragonhunter – i dont know what their skills/traits do, didnt really pay attention to their development so dunno.
Tempest – looks good, but its impossible to design a class/build stronger then current d/d ele. Might be great but will certainly be weaker then meta^2 ele, just like all other classes/builds are.
9. Daredevil – too weak. Doesnt really bring anything useful. Staff is terrible – its a thief with no stealth, no evasion, no sustain, no utility and weak dmg. Traitline is good but not good enough. I think the thief is stuck with d/p role and that build is weaker if it drops one of the curent specs for DD.
DD does help p/p and even S/X, but not enough for those builds to be viable in pvp.
are berserker and dragon hunter that bad?
I agree, and my characters need to stop being white. All of my … elonian descent characters are canthan or tyrian in the character select menu for months now. make it stop
So I cant help but notice theres precursor crafting coming, and I see theres achievement points attached to it. Thats cute and all, and im happy for the folks that have been waiting for this, but I want these achies too. For us that have the Legendary already, can we be granted the achies for this? I have 11 legendaries and I dont want to craft 11 precursors I prob wont ever use just for the achievement points. I know this may seem a bit like 1st world problems, but it is more than a bit annoying
Lol, no one wants to play daredevil.
a couple of people said daredevil. youre reading comprehension requires attention.
1) Berserker
2) Reaper
3) All the rest
I remember when running GS in pvp was for the bads
So, GW2 went free to play.
And NCSoft, despite owning 100% of ArenaNet, has been removing itself from GW2 and won’t publish it anymore.
And now the lead designer has left the game.
Yeah, I’m sure everything is alright. No sir, there’s clearly no sign of trouble here sir.
top 10 worst posts ever.
The writer went to bungie because destiny needed a story, and they have money. People leave, things happen. Making the core game f2p is genius, especially since the game has been on sale for 10 dollars nonstop the past year. Anet didnt want NCSoft on their d——, its the best move for them
^ while I agree with both of you that comparing to Rev in most situations isnt wise due to the energy costs Rev has to worry about, but from what I remember, Rev hammer is VERY kind in terms of energy usage. 2/3 used close to no energy from what I remember and the 2 has a what… 2nd cd? just sayin
You can dodge while dazed. Maybe something actually threatening would be more impactful.
That doesn’t support your argument in any way though…?
He completely forgot Necros have unblockables and hes trying to grasp for anything he can.
Diablo WOW and FF14 all have better. I never saw ESOs
its a “legendary journey” so its going to take awhile. They are giving you this easy path to make precursors, how much more hand holding does everyone need? Its been this way for 3 years and plenty of people have Juggy, buy buying and by farming.
And damage. Skill 5 does hit really kitten sword.
language filter is so annoying grrrrrrrrrr.Sword #2 deals more dmg, scales better with power, chills, has a higher range, costs less and it’s CD is a third of Sw#5. The only thing you lose is a pull + self-pull
Axe #4 allows for better dmg, another gap closer and whatnot.
I will probably never use Sw OH because Axe or Shield just fit better… Axe for mobility+dmg, Shield for defenseAnd Axe has no block and immobilize as well as no pull/interrupt with huge dmg. We could on like this forever you know. Sword is nice mix between shield (having block) and axe (having dmg and retreat).
When playing Shiro gap closing is not especially hard so I will live without an axe.
You’re underestimating the amount of damage the Off-hand axe does, the gap closer does a pretty high amount of damage, enough to warrant it being used on cooldown, even if you don’t need to close the gap.
have to agree wit this, OH axe is great
…. and we still have no word on trap updates or what direction they are going to take. None of the classes are 100% ready for launch (except maybe Reaper and Chrono) but I feel after BWE3, all of them will be… except DH. Of course there will still be tweaks and touch ups to all of the specs and classes after launch but I feel like we are being so left in the dark with this.
Is the DH feedback THAT negative that DH has just been pushed aside? Reading that theres basically no changes to them for BWE3 means we really have nothing to talk about. Sorry for rant. continue your day
Yeah, all those Unblockable skills and all that stability Reaper brings.
indeed, warhorn 4 and wells are a dangerous thing
roll necro youll be fine
Indeed DH purpose is to make the numerous Guardians to reroll.
This artificially produces content.Same story should also happen sooner or later to warriors (most played class)
you know, I dont think this is true (I know numbers say it is, but hear me out).
I think Ele is played more than Warrior for the most part. I feel a lot of people start with Warrior and thats why theres been so many, but this past year, I def think Ele has taken the number one spot. I also think Necro and Ranger are more popular than Warrior and Ele, but due to how low they have ranked in the PVE scene for so long, they have dust on them. I fully expect necro to be the most popular, or top 3, after HoT drops. If you play WVW and PVP and never touch PVE you would never know necro is unpopular
you know what I was just talking to people about how good the Rev hammer is, and I thought about this thread and just saw this. Comparing it to Rev, it needs a SERIOUS buff
im dying laughing because he said console-y. like consoles have some… different controls or something. PC players actually use console controllers too bud, can console games. FF14? guess what, its on console! oh no!!!
lol I can have fun with this all day. please done delete thread
top 10 worst threads of all time
sounds like you need FF14. stand still until things are dead and then move to the next area and stand still again
apparently the devs said in the stream thats not mordemoth, just one of his champions
raids arent there until a few weeks after launch, because we need time to upgrade our masteries. apparently they are required for the Raid
I was just messing around with my hammer and man, I really love this weapon. I hope one day it sees light in pve.
900 range on the axe is a big deal, so that’s the LAST thing you should be complaining about.
Record a few matches playing with dagger and watch the replays. There are numerous times you get ZERO dps because the target is out of range.
The new, larger increase in range with axe versus dagger/GS range will help offset the lower DPS of the axe. You can hit targets with it more often and with less positioning risk.
It’s a good option to now have based on your playstyle.
In fact, I can see some people trying GS/Axe power builds because you now have a weapon for range and one for up close. It’s too early to say if this will work, but it definitely wouldn’t be viable without these changes.
That being said…the 20% increase in dmg they are giving Thief pistol is insane. 20% on an entire range weapon is HUGE!
Thus, I can see why people might be jealous of a range weapon doing that much damage from afar…considering how much damage they can also do up close.
However, I suspect this is something that will get nerfed pretty fast versus something Necros should be asking for on the axe.
Necros are actually one of the most overall balanced classes in the game with certain strengths and clear weaknesses. It’s just a few other classes that are over-budget and sometimes get ridiculous buffs.
I agree with all of this except the pistol part. 20% damage buff isnt much, for the PISTOL. 20% is a lot, but what is 20% of 1?
If you play as a Reaper you have to stay all the time you can in RS to deal your max damage, making you 50-66% of the time in RS
because dealing max damage and playing correctly are the samething. Survival? who needs that! dodging? nahhhh.
lol
roll necro youll be fine
I agree with the animation. they went BONKERS with revanent visuals. Warrior and Thief are so bland
The reason why this post is so ridiculous is because the druid is going to be mandatory for so many things. Rangers are going from being lol get out of here to wow please join me, and people are complaining. REALLY? youre NOT going to be top DPS; not every class can be top dps. Dont you want to be more helpful, rather than just doing knockbacks and kicked? Youre going from bearbow to healer/bow or healer/friggen dragon tamer.
wow. we are all very happy you didnt preorder, trust.
because we spend 100% of our time in shroud
going to say a few words.
first, these arent all the changes, they said they wanted to talk about scepter more but didnt have time.
2nd, the range buff is exactly what axe needed. BEFORE the GS and GS buffs, we had a lot of ideas about axe (ive created over 7 threads on axe sadly) but now, its a different ball game. What we need axe for truly is for power and range. Axe might deliver that, we will have to see if there are any other changes, but 900 range is a VERY big deal, and the proper direction.
Also scepter hitting one target isnt bad. As long as the condis are buffed, which they seem to be, its fine. Single target on a condi weapon makes sense on a necro because we have access to epidemic, one of the most underrated yet well respected utilities in the game. If scepter condi dps is viable, I promise the single target situation wont be an issue at all
Dont expect any word on scepter until a few months after HoT. due to the amount of clones scepter produces, pretty sure the devs are keeping a close eye on chronomancer to see what crazy builds people come up with. Scepter may become much more popular than it is
shield 5 does indeed seem promising
yea this is huge. The shield buff for absolutely great.
its not worthless because it still has a freeze. believe it or not, 50% damage decrease its still optimal for damage… its just not RIDICULOUS now
had to be done. was ridiculous
I thought it was stupid and was going to turn it off. im still listening to it.
ive never noticed DR. when do this even happen? I farmed silverwaste everyday for 6 months before I stopped farming, then SW came out, and thats all I do
Today is huge for me as well my friend. Ranger is one of my favorite classes, but I just have not been able to justify using it for quite awhile. I have put Ele and Mesmer, my original mains, to the side for HoT for the most part. After 3 years, its time I move on. I want to play 1 heavy, 1 medium and 1 light, and ive already decided that Necro is going to be my light. I really want to get back to the Ranger, as Ranger is usually my go to class in everything. I have sacrificed many many animals (in game of course) to the gods (anet) for the coming Druid. please let it be great
you should get benefits for traps being out, and traps triggered.
for example, when putting down a trap, you sould have 3% or 4$ more damage. once the trap is triggered the damage modifier should cool down and you should gain a boon, based on the trap used. traps need SOMETHING along these lines to make then even near … competitive
getting much better
Following up on the Stunbreak conversation: This is something we’ve talked about in the past and felt like it might just be way too strong. However, it still sounds like way too much fun to not try it out… so I’m going to change them over and we’ll see what that plays like in BWE3.
Please keep in mind that this will be a test and we may have to compensate for or remove it at some point in the future, if it’s too strong.-Karl
Please keep in mind that traited properly, a necro can use f1 to stunbreak every 7 seconds, not including any utility skill stunbreaks they take.
now, elementalists taking signet of air can stunbreak every 20 seconds while traited, not including tempest defense and gale song.
assuming that the stunbreak on overload cast (at start of cast) would have no icd, allowing overloads to stunbreak would be at best, every 5 seconds, IF the player uses the overload to stunbreak, and then immediately swap attunements to start the pre-cast warm up for the next overload stunbreak.
now, using an overload only for the stunbreak also means setting that stunbreak on a 25 second cooldown, assuming that the channeling is interrupted by attunement swap immediately. (an aside, i thought it was said in the Tempest PoI livestream that it was intended that attunement swapping would NOT interrupt the overload channel, but just wasn’t in the beta build yet)
at this point, starting at the first stun break, and assuming perfect timing on attunement swap. we have: SB + 5s, SB + 5s, SB + 5s, SB + 5s, and since 20s have passed, the first attunement is available again. that doesn’t include any aftercast delays. realistically, we can expect every 6 seconds a stunbreak would be available with constant attunement swapping.
this appears to give the Tempest another choice to make: finish the overload or swap attunements to continue regular weapon skill rotation. (if the attunement swap does not interrupt the overload channel, then how else will the tempest be able to interrupt the channel? cast another weapon skill? we currently can’t dodge out of the overload channel…)
that possible every 5 second use could possibly be OP with the d/d cele cantrip ele build that dominates PvP, but i think that d/d cele cantrip eles would think twice about blowing their standard rotations for a stunbreak that essentially locks them out of an element for the next 20 seconds. this would really slow down their rotation, by a lot, so the damage output would fall considerably. i think it’s a fair trade off.
also, the more available stunbreak might finally allow for other utilities besides full cantrips, but i suppose that’s another conversation.
in the current iteration of overload channels, d/d cele cantrip eles also have to consider whether to let the overload finish channeling, too, which adds another 4 seconds before swapping attunements, (since attunement swap breaks the channel) which could essentially put the stunbreaks on longer cooldowns. 4 second channel + 5 second warmup means 9 seconds before next stunbreak is available.) this might make up for some of the damage lost from their regular rotation, but again, it’s a tradeoff.
realistically, i see overload stunbreak potential on par with necro using shroud as a stun break.
i’m actually really excited about this…
necro using shroud as a stunbreak is the most awful, terrible, horrible way to play there is. we use shroud for WAY WAY more things than just a stunbreak. thats.. wow just an awful way to even think.
you ever play necro bro?
So, what stats did you end up going with?
Not sure yet, still deciding, I have sword, shield, warhorn, and pistol right now.
thats it? casual
wanna run frac sometime?
Complain in the forums so that the devs buff them to OP level. It worked for Reaper, Herald.
Fixed.
Chrono is stronger than all of them, but yea
Thank you for talking to us, its really all the forums ever ask for. im hoping we get some armor besides magitech that looks, well, engi/scrapperish.
Yes traps still need a major overhaul.
And the other thing needing work is the lb autos track. Thieves already do that. Crippling only on 2 targets is generally useless. If only 1 target is struck should grant a boon to the guard, both effects for 2 or more targets.
Other than that allowing for directional backwards casting is the last remaining.
If those get fixed I will be in full support of playing a viable wvw dragon hunter.I really would have preferred seeing the ‘magic’ archer getting an auto-attack more similar to the Elementalist Fire Staff’s than just copy pasting the Thief’s shortbow, personally.
you know what, I agree with this.
I’ll probably play revenant for a little bit, I tend to change nub"main" every few months or so, but always come back to ranger or ele eventually.
My hopes/expectations were non existant for Druid as much as I hate to admit it… But seeing the scrapper for engi and knowing that the same guy is working on Druid re-kindled my hopes just a little bit. A small flame still burns my friends!
Really?? Wow my feelings are precisely the opposite for the same reason. Irenio, the guy that gave us MDG the necro trait (siphoned power) that was so worthless that Gee completely got rid of it. A trait which only the necro with it’s damage sponge Death shroud could make make use of, and still found it completely worthless, we now on ranger instead. A GM no less. The guy who completely ruined the already underwhelming engi gadgets by removing all of their traits, then replacing them with a hobbled, awful version of gadgeteer. A trait so badly designed it actually requires you to get hit 5 times before you can use it. Five hits. In GW2. A game which requires active defence because of OHK boss skills and powerful player attacks.
A guy who thinks that Medical Dispersion Field is acceptable as a GM with its woeful 8hps output. A guy who thinks that adding more Ai to engineer after the ongoing debacle and complete failure that is turret balancing, is a good idea and new kind of play.
The best work Irenio has done for Engineer is the scrapper hammer, which I doubt you could honestly even say is his work since it’s a skill for skill copypasta of Ranger G/S with some slight improvements and flashy lights.
Lets not forget that Scrapper’s first two traits are entirely worthless in PvE
Seeing scrapper has actually made me really worry about Druid, precisely because it’s the same guy.
you really compared the Ranger GS with the Engis hammer? You compared, what is easily the worst 2 handed melee weapon, to the engis hammer, which is looking to be one of the best? Because they both have a block and whirl finisher?
wow
Well since you guys are poking fun st druids, I’m here to shed a little light on this thread.
And one sentence in you’ve missed the point entirely.
We’re poking fun at the army of Chicken Littles running loose across the land convinced that the mere existence of Especs will swiftly wash their favorite profession right off the field of play.
Druid is being used because it’s the one Espec that no one can legitimately complain about yet and preemptively making fun of the nonsense comparisons that will be made about it. If there’s any negativity, it’s about the overwhelming sucking void were people’s sense of perspective should be. And we’re channeling maybe just the tiniest bitterness about that, not Druids or any other profession. Just the bad behavior the prospect of change has given rise to.
Tired of all this nonsense negativity around here. I decided to do some datamining myself and found the new op druid traits and baseline buffs, so keep the garbage to yourselves.
Druid pets walk backwards with superspeed when druid is downed.
Pigs have plus 20 toughness for every second druid is downed.
Druids do more damage for every boon on them, as long as pet is walking backwards.
Backwards pets auto res warriors and eles. Druids are not effected by this trait.
Regen now applies to pets. When pets regen, they have a chance to cleave on next attack. ICD 100s
Things are looking good guys
Dang it. You got me. Well played.
lolol ty sir
hehe
this is a good design. I heard mords voice in the beta in a sylvari and people had no idea what IWas talking about, now it makes sense
