Hey, remember when they made Teq more “difficult”, and all that was a HP buff. I can only imagine what the community would do if there was truly more difficult content.
Hey remember when Teq first came out and everyone was up in arms about how impossible the encounter was and that no one could ever complete it unless they were the best of the best? Then it was made easier, and everyone was up in arms about how stupid easy it was and that it wasn’t challenging. Then they made it harder and everyone is up in arms about how impossible it is to complete unless you are the best of the best?
Good times….good times….
(Whether you want to admit it or not, adding HP makes the time limit that much more crucial, thus harder — it’s like giving someone a test with no time limit versus giving someone a test with a time limit — the one with a time limit is much harder-- it adds significant pressure and forces you to properly manage your time, versus being able to take your sweet time on each problem)

If you’ve blocked them from being able to speak to you, and your only issue now is with them jumping on you, then it sounds like it’s time to move on. I mean, HoTM is just a lobby to wait in while you queue for a match. Queue for a match and go do TP or banking or something. If you simply don’t like seeing people jumping up and down, then minimize your game until you hear the sound that your match is ready.

Plenty of people actually….

Banned? For using skills in the game?
I completely understand that Symbolic Avenger is broken, we can all see that.
But I main a Guardian, heck I have THREE guardians, I love them, I would have picked that trait regardless.
So I’m not allowed to play my Guardian how I normally would because one of the traits is broken? That’s complete BS and in no way, shape, or form should it result in a ban.
This is very different from an exploit. It’s like if they coded greatsword damage wrong or something and it does 500% damage. Would you ban anyone who uses a greatsword? Would you send out a message and tell all of your players, “Oh hey, don’t use greatswords they do too much damage”? No you would fix the problem as soon as you can and in the meantime anyone using greatsword would be doing 500% damage.

Being able to trait all 5 lines had situational usefulness. You still have the ability to swap traits based on the situation.
Prior to this change, you had parameters and found the traits that you enjoyed running. The system has changed (IMO for the better), so now you need to adapt and find the traits you enjoy playing. I don’t see how that is a not being able to “play how I want” issue, versus simply a “I hate change in any form” issue.

Oddly enough I was fizzling pretty kitten GW2, especially with so many good single player games out.
This patch has renewed my interest in playing.
Fractal collection? Who cares…
Fractal skin chest? Who cares… (would be nice though, I must admit)
Buggy hit boxes? Like on world bosses? I have yet to fail any world bosses besides a PUG Teq, so who even cares.
Engi OP in PvP? Maybe, but only if they are good. I still own the average engi. Balance on this would be nice, though.
World bosses more of a chore? Really? The 5min AFK/auto attack fest was a chore to you before? I’m not sure what wouldn’t be a chore then…
More limits on traits? I feel the exact opposite. I find the new trait system gives far more freedom than it ever did. Taking stats out of the equation makes it so nice to swap your traits around to whatever you want and not have to worry about getting gear to match your build.
Guardian meta is due to broken symbolic avenger trait….but I’m sure you already knew that and wanted to simply add to your list of personal grievances.
Lag at events? At world bosses I’m guessing? Haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary. Certainly not insufferable lag, unless your computer is sub-par. (I recently built a new beast computer so I’m a bit snobby on this right now haha)
Blatantly over priced? $50 which includes the entire original game is blatantly over priced? You don’t even know all of the HoT features, how can you even claim it is blatantly overpriced…
No hope for new dungeons? That remains to be seen. Would love new dungeons personally. You nor anyone else has enough information to claim no hope.
I love the way Lion’s Arch looks…so….that’s, like, your opinion, man.

Yea the zerker groups really don’t get dungeons done any faster if you include wait time to fill groups.
I wanted to run CoE paths last night. Was alone and checked LFG. One group available, 3/5 people, 2 rangers and a warrior “80 zerk speedrun don’t suck.” I hung out for a little bit, see what other groups popped up. I also fiddled around on TP while I waited. Couple of story mode groups came and went, and finally I decided I’d whisper them, see if they would accept someone not in zerk that doesn’t suck. They didn’t want me. No problem. Coincidentally a guild group formed up (5 guards omg hilariously OP awesome time). We did path 1 in 9min (awesome considering only two of us were zerk). We pop out, those same 3 guys, still waiting at 3/5 for “80 zerk speedrun don’t suck”.

Did Golem last night, no issues. Had 5min to spare.
I think the problem is with the majority of people thinking they can 11111111 their way through the fight still.
Eventually those people will figure it out and/or stop showing up, and the only ones left will be the ones that understand they can’t just stand in the electricity and then stay dead until the fight is over….

Essentially OP believes since he paid for the game, that he should not only be able to play 100% of the content (which he can), but that he should be able to easily succeed at it.
I’m sorry, no, sometimes there needs to be something a little bit harder for those of us with above average skill.
Teq specifically became a big AFK fest. You had 75% of the people doing the work, and 25% of the people standing around or running around auto attacking. Now there needs to be a bit more participation and suddenly its the end of the world.
You have access to all of the content. If it’s too hard for you, it’s too hard for you. Move along.

Let me tell you my experiences with personal housing from games like UO, AC, EQ2, Aion, and I’m sure others I can’t think of.
Everyone clamors for it. Everyone gets so excited OMG we have houses! Day one everyone goes out, claims their homes, sits in it look around, oh boy I can’t believe how great! I have a house! Time to decorate! Spend couple of days getting house the way you want it to look boy this is so awesome look how nice! Invite friends over to see house, they come by ‘house is cool dude’ they say ‘come see my house’ they add. Ok you go to their house looks cool enough, mine is way better but I’ll keep it to myself.
Next day go back to normal play, dungeons, PvP, raids, whathaveyou, before logging out, go to house, look around yep same as I remember maybe I’ll move this chair, nah it was better over there I’ll move it back. Let me invite my friends over ‘nah I’m good’ they say. I hated them anyway. Next day log into house, look around, yep definitely like that chair there, no bones about it. Go about normal day, time to log out, this one time I’ll log out here by bank, it’s a bit more convenient. Log in, play game normally, couple days go by, oh wait my house, let me go back and make sure it’s still standing, yep there it is, you know what if I add another chair. I’ll work on that tomorrow.
Days, weeks, months go by, visit house once or twice, don’t care to visit those other jerk friends’ houses because honestly who cares about them they are all terrible people.
Play game normally, housing is a complete afterthought that game developers wasted tons of time and resources on for people to play briefly and then forget about except for the small % of RPers who use it to have tea and crumpets.
Your results may very.

Power/prec/ferocity builds — high direct damage, very little you have to worry about other than your skill rotations and mashing 1.
Condition builds — high damage over time, have to worry about stacking conditions and keeping them stacked.
Honestly why should power builds get to have max damage while also being the easiest to play? Condition builds should ideally be able to do more damage, but over time, and require a little bit more attention than just mashing 1.
EDIT: Sure conditions ignore armor and boons, but most players can also instantly remove all conditions, completely negating all of that potential damage, wasting their rotation. Can’t do that against a power player since it is direct damage. All you can do is heal/block/absorb.

Did they change downscaling recently or something? I pretty much play in the lower zones exclusively and I haven’t noticed anything different. I still roll through mobs like paper.
If anything, they should probably reduce your stats even more when you are down-scaled so it actually felt like a challenge in all zones.

Wow, I can’t believe some of these complaints.
If you are too small for guild halls, then you are too small for guild halls. Deal with it.
You’ve lived thus far without guild halls, you will continue to live without guild halls.
Some have put the time into cultivating a healthy guild (120+ active members) and guild halls are perfect for that.
Not every guild needs to have a hall. No one expects a band of 3 buddies to own an entire territory anyway. You guys will be nomads. If you want to have a guild hall, then the 3 of you guys need to sit down and consider joining another guild or do some recruitment.

it is extremely unfortunate that the stats changing feature is locked to legendary gear.
what a waste.
What is a waste? That legendary armor can change stats on the fly? Or that Ascended armor will be able to have stats changed through some kind of craft/Mystic Forge system?
Or are you saying it is a waste of time to make Ascended armor because Legendary armor will maybe exist sometime in the future that has not been announced ever and we have no idea how far away it is and since maybe a year or two from now Legendary armor will be stats switchable, that nobody should waste their time crafting Ascended armor?
Just trying to understand your trolly ways.

They are buffing existing armor that has been in the game since the first year of release. You are seriously going to cry “treadmills” and “power creep” for a tier you’ve had years to obtain and has been the de facto top tier? Like seriously?
If they added another tier, sure, we could talk about gear treadmills (although Legendary is a tier, and at some point they will likely have Legendary armor, so I guess start writing about how Anet is starting a treadmill with Legendary armor, save it, and whip it out down the line), but to buff a tier that already exists and has existed for years? Give it a rest…

If you are a veteran player and have access to: Celebration Booster, XP Booster, and Killstreak booster (plus food of course) then killing yellow mobs in a rotation is the absolute fastest way to level. (Not including crafting) Also make sure you use your level 20 scroll to skip the first 20 levels.
There are diminishing returns on the bonus XP so you want to find a nice big spawn of Moas or any other yellow critter, kill them, then move on to the next one. Don’t just sit at one spawn, eventually there will be no bonus XP. You need to constantly be moving, but I’ve leveled 3-4 times/hr with this method depending on spawns, which surpasses EoTM.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I made a Necro about a month ago. Each individual trait cost skill points now, and you got a skill point like every six levels I think? At 80 I had 6 points in Curses, and maybe 2 in another line. At release I remember it being a much smoother process (buy the book at 40/60/80)
Not all of us hoard Tomes.
What the heck does that have to do with anything? This thread is specifically about Tomes. If you want to gripe about the trait changes like everyone else then you are about a year too late and definitely in the wrong thread.
All I can say, as someone who has played since early release, is that nowadays I level faster than I did back then. I don’t get access to the traits as early, but to say the leveling up process requires those traits would be false. There are so many more opportunities to level quickly with the log-in rewards, PvP tomes, EoTM, etc. that simply was not available at release.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
They make us PVE because that is the heart of their game.
They can polish it up, streamline it however they wish, Anet is simply making it more difficult to level.
Call it what you will.
How is it more difficult to level? Tomes of Knowledge will still level you. I have a full stack in my inventory so I can level a few chars to 80 instantly once HoT drops. Leveling 3 characters to 80 in a matter of 10min is about as easy as it gets…

If you want something to show off to people, the only thing to get right now imo would be full radiant/hellfire armor because you’ll need a crap ton of achievement points.
full set of hellfire already… AP isn’t really a bragging right anymore so I don’t put it on at all, I do have 6k permanent AP that I’m proud of and wish I could show off.
I think you’re thinking of the 3 standard pieces as the full set. You actually start to unlock the rest of the pieces when you get around 24k AP or something, which I don’t think anyone has actually hit. Unless you are saying you are #1 on the AP charts.

So you blame the game because your computer is not good enough?
Getting dazed/crippled mid jump and falling in Maw/Harpy has nothing to do with rigs but it’s still annoying as kitten.
This certainly begs the question as to why you are mid-jump when getting dazed or crippled? Did they add a timer to that fractal that requires you to jump through everything ASAP?
Take each jump one at a time. Look to see if a harpy is engaging you before you actually jump. There’s really no excuse for jumping when getting dazed/crippled. You know there are monsters there that do it, so don’t jump until they are a) dead or b) engaging someone else.
I didn’t say a thing about skipping harpies. Perhaps it didn’t happen to you, but it’s totally possible to be crippled when you are moving up the stages to engage them. We need to jump to get to them so we can kill them, correct (Unless you’re an Ele and can nuke from a far range.) ? This isn’t a matter of stability. You need to save those and reflects for their knock back attack. But the cripple mid- air makes you fall like a rock. There are spots on those sections where at least 3 of them can hit you at the same time.
The way you describe it almost makes it seem like you believe stability skills are one-time use. This goes back to my point about simply rushing through content. The team needs to use their skills. When done engaging, let CDs come back and move to next group. Is everyone in such a hurry they can’t wait 30secs?
The knockdowns are really all you should be worried about on that fractal, not the cripple/chill while jumping, and the knockdowns can be handled with proper reflect/stability/absorb rotating.
That or you can try rushing through, but in my experience that ends up taking longer because someone always ends up not making it, and then can’t make it alone. There have definitely been times when we have been able to skip it without issue, but that isn’t the norm IMO when doing fotm40+ with a PUG.

to freeze content development in favor of an expansion
is what most expansion-based games do. What did you expect?
Except that GW2 is NOT an expansion based game. Its SUPPOSED to be a bi-monthly release based game (per countless PR releases via Anet in countless interviews). If they are changing the model, it would be nice to know.
I’m gonna have to blame the players for that fiasco. I was personally fine with the bi-weekly updates but noooo, everyone had to complain that GW2 needed an expansion because trickling in content wasn’t enough to scratch their content itch. They need it in one giant update rather than many small ones.
GW2 is now an expansion based game.

As above. If you insist on playing an MMO, I an suggest ESO. After a rough and messy start, the game has csystalized to a very mature MMO, that takes a very different approach by making a hybrid between a traditional mmo and the elder scroll games.
Since a few months it is buy to play, just as GW2 and more then enough for a good amount of fun.No monthly fees means easier to switch and play other games as well!
1000+ days in any MMO will result in the same problem. Unless you are suggesting there is an MMO out there that comes out with content so frequently that even someone that plays 10hrs/day will never have to wait for an xpac/update for more content.

So, this is the second time that this happens.
I was on Frostgorge Sound and the Jormag event was starting and that change map prompt appears, you know , the one about few players on the map. And for the second time, i’ve lost the event because i’ve accepted this map change, i was put on another map with the event already done.
This isn’t fair at all, is there any way to change this?
So, you see an option to move maps, click yes. You did it once, saw the effect it had on the event. Then went ahead and did it a second time on a later date, and somehow this is a problem with the system?
Gonna save you a lot of trouble and tell you to go ahead and click on “No” next time.

Gotta say, I support this. Wardrobe should essentially be an overlay, much like outfits. Cost an Xmute charge if you want to change anything on it, but it stays static regardless of armor swapping.
I would be supremely happy if they added something like this.

100% a user error.
If you are with a group that just wants to run through all of the harpies, then either have them mesmer/thief you through, ask them to kill all harpies, or simply leave the instance. That encounter was not meant to have everyone run through ignoring harpies. It was designed to utilize proper reflects/stability/absorb as a group. If people want to skip, then it kicks the focus on jump timing necessity up a couple notches, meaning it isn’t for you as a poor jumping player.

Not sure what has prompted some people to believe that if they aren’t playing GW2 every day all day as their only source of entertainment that somehow the game will disappear into obscurity.
It’s no secret that veteran players have hit a content wall. Most of us hop on for dailies, maybe some PvP, chit chat a bit, then bide our time playing something else.
It’s really no big deal and one of the best parts about GW2 is that you can take long breaks, come back, and not have fallen behind (expansion stuff excluded, obviously you will fall behind in terms of a new class / specializations).
I really, really suggest Witcher 3 in the meantime. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played, and I don’t make claims like that lightly.

Oh wow, who cares. You can’t see people’s rank anyway. No one has ever asked what rank I was, nobody looks at finishers. I’m really confused as to what the problem actually is here since ranks are ultimately meaningless. You can be a terrible player and still be r80 simply from playing long enough, so what does it even matter.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
There are multiple references to MOBA when talking about this mode, but those 3 points above are incredibly important design aspects in MOBAs. There, you CANNOT push a lane if you do not kill ennemy players, and killing them is an immense swing in a game. This is what makes the game exciting, those PvP interactions in the lane. There is nothing like this in Stronghold at the moment.
Since when can you not push a lane without killing enemy players in a MOBA? That’s completely false. If there are no enemy players defending the lane, you can certainly still push it. In fact, you can push it far easier. Very curious what MOBAs you’ve played where you cannot push a lane without killing the enemy.
Dying needs to be a major penalty in terms of respawn time. There’s no money/items to worry about so you can’t look at that for a penalty, but as the game progresses, dying needs to be something that will really screw your team. I’m talking upwards of 45-60secs to respawn on death. That would make killing the enemy a viable strategy. If they all try to rush lord, defend. Killing even a couple of them will put them at a severe disadvantage. Then mount a counter attack.
Game time would need to be increased, because honestly 15min is simply not enough.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Has anyone tried defending instead of simply rushing to their Lord? I played a few matches last night that all ended due to time running out. We all had like 20+ kills. There was very little PvE when I played.
So maybe instead of just giving up defense and deciding it is a race to Lord, maybe work as a team to defend, then counter?
I really liked this game mode. My only complaint is that the NPCs are way too easy to kill. I know PvP “purists” are against having any kind of NPC encounters because it’s just too much PvE for them, which is why stronghold definitely needs to be a separate queue. I really like the concept of a MOBA type map, but this feels like a weak attempt at it. Either go full blown or not at all, in my opinion.
As it stands the NPC “minions” are essentially worthless with even one person defending that has an ounce of skill. Defending and attacking the minions needs to be central to the game mode.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Not sure how you are dying in the Jormag fight if you actually do the encounter correctly.
Grab a charrzooka or used ranged attacks for the first part. Use the shield ability if/when the ice wave is about to hit you.
Second part, grab a flamethrower and take out crystals that might destroy the golems. Once Jormag is in his “stunned” state, DPS as normal. If you are constantly dying then you are getting to close to Jormag. You only need to get close to him if he is in that stunned state.

But from what ive understand, these World masterys or what they where called, seemed more gimicy or some fun little perk lite gliding or something, It didt feel like it had a real impact on your character in how you play him/her etc. Since we didt get more skill slots or whatever to spice things up im curious how this expansion is gonna feel like an expansion and not a big patch. I dunno i want to stick to this game so bad, but there i just that little thing that keeps me from playing long sessions :P

What could be cool is turning each available dungeon into a “raid” dungeon by allowing 5 people per dungeon path able to join. Need to have 5 people per path, they are completed simultaneously (maybe a loose cutscene explaining how and why it is possible for this to occur) and then they all meet up at the end for a big boss battle that would actually require 15-20 people to work together to complete. Perhaps using tools/skills obtained during each path.
