Class quest (I assume you mean personal story) takes place every 10 levels essentially now. Feel free to explore other areas. The personal story is not your primary way of leveling anyhow. I would recommend Sylvari or Norn areas if you want a scenery change.
Charr lands can be a bit bland.

It seems it does not work with PvP. Thank you very much for the information.
I haven’t had a PvP queue go longer than 4min lately. I just play around in the wardrobe or something while I wait.

Those who say permastealthing thieves are not OP because they’re not doing anything have apparently never chased two of them around your keep/castle for a couple of hours.
You decide to chase two thieves around for a couple of hours and that’s overpowered….

If in the maps there were no AFK players you’d still have the exact same issue. What if they weren’t AFK but doing something like the jumping puzzle or collecting the 30 badges/crests. Should these players be kicked as well? After all, the end result of both are exactly the same: they’re not contributing to the progression of the map toward breach/VW.
Can you seriously not see the difference between losing out to someone actually playing the game and someone alt-tabbing out to surf the web while leeching off of others?
There’s a difference in what they’re doing on the map but irregardless, they’re not participating towards breach/VW. Their actions, although different, produce the same result.
He’s not saying that a map can’t end up being full in general. Obviously that happens and there have been plenty of times, I’m sure, where a map was legitimately full with active players.
He’s claiming that it isn’t fair to have a map full artificially, as in a large number of players (20-30) are actually just AFK, taking spots but not participating.
Whether there can be situations where 20-30 players are doing the JP and not participating in Breach/Vinewrath, and therefore the same end result, is completely irrelevant in our context of AFKers taking spots.
He only cares if a map if full due to a bunch of people sitting around doing nothing.
I agree with him. To me there’s taking a spot and not participating because you are actively doing different content in the zone. And then there’s taking a spot and not participating because you’re alt-tabbed surfing the Internet. Two scenarios, same end result. One is acceptable, he’s suggesting the other shouldn’t be.

Think of it as working in the service industry. Some places, such as restaurants (at least in the US) tipping is a social obligation. People accept and understand that you should tip your server, and generally do. However, some professions in service are often overlooked as far as tips. It doesn’t mean that they don’t want them, or need them. But such a gesture is greatly appreciated.
I think the OPs point is, if someone is doing you a service (porting you to the end of a JP) proper etiquette would demand that a small token of your appreciation be given. It’s not hurting anyone, and it shows that you are grateful. Sure you could not tip, but it does reflect upon you as a person. Just like if you go to a restaurant and don’t leave a tip, what kind of person does that make you appear? Servers will remember you, and next time you come in, you will get the worst possible service. They will also remember if you do tip, and even more so if you tip generously, resulting in the best possible service, and sometimes some extra goodies.
Yeah, except the servers NEED tips to meet minimum wage (at least in a majority of states/regions of the US). A mesmer dropping a portal after they already finished the JP (or after they logged onto a character that’s permanently parked at a chest) and got their reward is hardly the same thing as working a job that doesn’t pay minimum wage and assumes your tips will make up the difference. If a mesmer in GW2 doesn’t get a tip for portaling someone, they can still play the game the exact same way they would if the person had given them 10s or whatever.
Except that anywhere that pays servers under minimum wage and expects tips to make up the amount is legally requires to pay the server more if the tips do not bring them up to minimum wage, so until the tips bring the server over minimum wage, you are “tipping” the establishment and not the worker. But that’s totes off topic.
This guy understands minimum wage law.
A lot of people think servers who get $2/hr don’t get minimum wage. They legally have to. Most of the time tips will get them there, but if it is a particularly slow restaurant and they don’t, then the restaurant has to make up the difference so they hit minimum wage.
If you are a server and you aren’t making minimum wage for your hours worked (after you factor in your tips), then you need to complain to your manager, because that is illegal.

Living World Season 1 isn’t replayable like Living Story Season 2. The content was only available during the few weeks that it was “happening.” The idea behind the Living World was that if you weren’t online in Tyria while it was happening, then you just weren’t a part of it.
And of course by a few weeks you mean over a year.
Pretty sure none of the episodes were available for more than a few weeks, so yep he got it right the first time.
To OP: I would recommend reading up on season 1 on the wiki and then unlocking S2 once you hit level 80. The episodes cost 200 gems each (there are 8 of them), and remember there is also a gold to gem conversion so you can use gold to unlock them if you don’t have the money to pay (though it will take a while to get enough gold)
He said season 1 was a few weeks. Each episode was at least 2 weeks, and often more. I don’t know how you can claim he was right by saying Season 1 happened over a few weeks…
Don’t argue just to argue. You and I both know season 1 was more than a few weeks.
My point was that all of Season 1 took place over the course of 1yr+. If we want to be technical I’m sure we could look up exactly how many weeks it was when you take breaks out of it. I’m too lazy to do that, but I know for a fact it is over ten weeks.

I have never tipped a mesmer. And on my mesmer I’ve never expected tips.
I also would not port someone that is demanding a port. Or maybe I will port them somewhere completely inaccessible where they pretty much have to WP out now. That would be so satisfying lol.

So, I’m reading your comment like this: when I join EoTM to run the train, a lot of times the train is far away, and I don’t want to have to run over to them, because sometimes they die by the time I get there, or I run into a zerg, or I simply don’t feel like it, and I should be able to just teleport to them whenever I want.
Please don’t confuse EoTM with WvW. And even then, eventually the zerg goes back to home WP to recap their color. Just hang out until they do.
You’re implying EotM is all trains, all the time, never actual WvW.
I am implying that yes. I would go so far as to say 99% of EoTM is trains. I’m no stranger to EoTM, have leveled numerous alts there, have maybe 100-150hrs spent in there. The number of times real WvW has taken place while I’ve been there I could count on one hand. So I guess I can’t claim it is trains all of the time, but 99 times out of a 100 when you hop into EoTM, it’s just standard train rotation (based on my own experiences).
Either way I don’t agree with teleport to commander.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
So it sounds like a common comment about stealth being particularly OP is the fact they can stealth and escape easily, no matter how many are around them. While it is a useful skill, I don’t see how that is OP. I mean, he’s not killing anyone by running away. So he’s decided to roam around trying to find someone to kill, things don’t go his way so he escapes. So what? Both parties are alive still, just continue on with your business.
Basically the ability to escape isn’t OP. Frustrating yes, and for some it may make their blood boil that the Thief narrowly escaped death. But OP it is not. It’s not like we have K/D ratios in this game.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I’m getting kind of fed up joining a WvW or an Edge of the mists and the commander is on the complete other side of the map without any way to get over there. You run halfway there encounter a zerg and die and have to start over. Can we get some better movement abilities?
This has little to no effect on pve side of things, most people have the waypoints near things anyway but those that don’t have no real way to get to things like boss encounters.
So can we get a teleport to commander if on the same map?
I bolded the part that I’m pretty sure is all you really are interested in. You don’t really seem to understand why it would be a terrible mechanic in actual WvW. For example, being able to wipe a zerg and send them back to their far WP is a big part of some conflicts and often makes or breaks a siege; if a commander could just stealth and hide and then everyone magically re-appears on them, that would be completely ridiculous.

As much as I understand exactly what OP is saying, I can honestly say that at no point have I ever felt thieves had any kind of distinct advantage over me.
Most of my encounters with Thieves end with them stealthing and running away, or simply dying. Sure there are the opportunist ones that jump in when you are fighting someone else, but that could be any class really.
If I could see what classes have killed me the most, I doubt Thief would even be top 5. So it’s hard for me to say stealth is OP when it’s never really felt OP in any of the PvP/WvW encounters I’ve had.

Competitive environments will attract players that talk themselves up and put others down. Mostly they are just trying to convince themselves that the reason they lost is because their team is terrible, and not themselves.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Well, I’ll be one of your answers.
It is vicinity based, dead or alive, I believe. So if you have 100 people standing near an event, even if only one person is attacking things, it will scale as though 100 people are doing it. If 99 people are dead and 1 is alive, it will still scale as though 100 people are there.
I’ve never seen it spelled out in terms of what each threshold is per scale tier, I would love to see that information.

WoW comes out with an expansion every 1.5 to 2 years with almost nothing in between…and you pay a sub for that. And there’s a cash shop.
I don’t even play WoW and even I know this assertion to be false. Or are you going to play the “well I consider content patches featuring storyline continuation, new raids, new in-game armor sets, etc, to be ‘almost nothing’”?
You should talk to some wow players. They go in for 2-3 months, do the content and unsub till the next expansion. I have two of them in the house.
You should talk to some Gw2 players. They go in for about 1-2 weeks, do some of the content and stop playing altogether because they found the game to be boring. I have several of them that were coworkers/friends/family.
I think we can all just agree that most people don’t have the time or attention span to play MMOs the way we did back when they were new and exciting.
If you’ve played a game like WoW, got burned out by it and quit. Every time you go back to WoW you will burn out and quit in a relatively short period (you will remember why you quit in the first place basically). If they try GW2 after playing <other MMO> for years and quitting, it isn’t like what they are used to, they don’t feel that bubbly feeling they felt when they first tried WoW (or whatever MMO gave them the good feels) and end up quitting.
A lot of people jump from MMO to MMO these days trying to recapture that feeling that they had the first time they got sucked into an MMO (for me it was Asheron’s Call, and then again in WoW). Now I simply don’t have the time for that type of gaming so I enjoy GW2 immensely because you can play it ultra casually and still progress.
I didn’t get the same feels when I started GW2, but I enjoy my time when I play it so I’m not complaining.
Both are good games, both have people join and quit. That’s all that really needs saying.

This is true. With an exp booster I was able to farm yellow mobs in WvW to very great effect. Most of them are near the edges of the map, and most people ignor them. Each kill gave about 2k exp with the exploration bonus. Had a friend with me, and with his celebration buff, and an exp booster was getting around 3k per kill. Thats about as much as a lower level event.
When leveling one of my alts, no joke I was leveling every 25 kills or so. It was stupid fast.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
EoTM is fastest when compared to map completion.
Now, even faster than EoTM, is grinding yellow mobs with an XP booster, killstreak booster, and Celebration booster active. (And food for a tiny bit extra).
You have to migrate across maps because the bonus XP has diminishing returns based on how recently the mobs were killed. So you couldn’t just find a group of Moas and kill them over and over. You have to keep moving in order to maximize bonus XP.
I say to kill yellow mobs because most people ignore them since they are passive so there is a better chance they haven’t been killed recently, but red mobs have just as much a chance to give good bonus XP.

#OccupySAB
I have my Super Beedog out all the time, plus I have the Honors in Applied Jumping title displayed, and I use the Storm Wizard finisher(I didn’t think to buy the SAB finisher when it was out so it’s as close as I can get).
Maybe SAB was made by some contracted guy who retained the rights to it through some fine print contracting. And maybe he was fired and isn’t allowing Anet to use SAB under threat of legal action.
This would make more sense than simply not re-activating something that clearly a lot of people want, already has been created, tested, and played, and something that a real money item is tied to that many have purchased.
From what I remember the main person who talked about SAB was Josh Foreman, as far as I know he’s still with Anet, but has been working on other things. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Joshua_Foreman
But do we know he is a paid Anet employee versus a contracted design guy representing Anet for specific projects?

If you are top 10 in AP leaderboard and want to maintain that spot, then I suppose that 1AP is important. If you don’t fall into that category, do yourself a favor and skip that one.

Y’know, even if the person wielding the Twilight “just” bought it on the TP … someone still had to make it in the first place. They don’t just magically appear for sale. Now perhaps some make them for the purpose of sale and would not have for personal use, so there are more in use than would be if they were account bound on acquire.
Even so, when you see a Twilight you know that someone spent the effort to make it, though it may not be the person you see in front of you wielding it.
Well of course, which is why it commands such a lofty price. But the ones who buy them like to act as though they’ve gone through some rigorous work to achieve it (the ones who buy gems to convert to gold that is—if someone farms for 3000 gold to buy one, then I can’t really fault them, because that takes effort as well).

Recently crafted Twilight. Took me years to gather up the materials without directly farming for them. And then I had to directly farm gold for the precursor as there is no reliable way to get one that isn’t RNG (until expansion anyway—but we don’t know what the process even entails so..).
Outright buying one on TP will run you ~3k gold or so. If you have that, go for it. If you are like the majority of players who do not have 3k gold, google what the requirements are to make it and just make a nice long checklist for yourself. That’s what I did.
Takes a while, but it felt so rewarding to finally make it.
I will add, however, that a lot of people have that GS. In fact, more people than I wish had it because I know a lot of them didn’t actually craft it but just bought it from TP, which like Grimm said, takes away from the Legendary status of it.
But it still looks awesome on my character so I don’t care!

:
In regards to cash shop vs monthly fee, I would much rather pay $15 a month and have access to all gem store content, than pay much more than $15 to have the same access. If everyone paid $15 a month, anet’s profits may not change that much. I don’t feel that $15 a month is a lot for a hobby, honestly. It’s usually less than a single weekend of drinking/partying.
Normally I’d agree but I’d hate to pay $15 to have access to stuff I don’t want (like charr backpacks, dye kits, etc.).
For the sake of discussion, multiply how many months of GW2 you’ve been playing by $15, then figure out how many gems that would end up being. Odds are for that money you’d be able to buy all of the items you want and none of the other items you don’t care about.
For me I’m at ~30mos (30* $15=$450. $450/$10 = 45 *800 = 36,000 gems). That would cover everything I want in the gemstore and still have gems left over. So for me, I would much rather pay in a cash shop for what I want than to pay monthly and have months go by where there is absolutely nothing of interest for me and I’m still out that money.

I have no idea why they couldn’t at least allow us access to the existing levels, especially at times like this when the Living Story is on hold.
It fits in with Living Story as well as Keg Brawl, Southsun Survival, Sanctum Sprint, or Crab Toss do. I mean. It is completely separate “mini-game”. Plus it is already made! Just turn it active!
Ugh, every time I think about them not bringing back SAB it makes me angry. There just aren’t good enough reasons not to. The Living World would be completely unrelated to SAB.

So yes time still has value, the stick has value, and even monetarily it has value
Things only have monetary value if someone else finds it to have monetary value.
It’s like if I had some dirty disgusting rag that’s 30 years old, it was the first rag I vomited on as a baby. To me it is priceless and extremely valuable. But what monetary value does it have? If I can’t sell it to anyone to convert into money, then it has none. The only value it has is the feels it gives me.
Someone’s Beanie Baby collection could have been valued at $1m in the 90s and is now worth $800. Perhaps that person still believes their collection to be worth $1m, but there’s nobody on this planet that would pay him that, their monetary value is whatever the market (others) dictate it to be.
Now if you had a fancy stick, with nice carvings, someone might buy that from you. Or maybe a bundle of sticks you sell as a firewood set, someone might actually buy that to save themselves the trouble.
But if you found a random stick and you tried for weeks to sell it to someone and nobody bought it. Then that stick has no monetary value for you. It is just a stick. You can’t put food on your table with it. It can have value to you, but not necessarily monetary value. And you can’t say “well, this stick still has value because maybe someone somewhere could possibly buy it from me for like $0.01 someday, therefore it is worth at least a penny.” Because if you can’t actually liquidate it into funds, then it doesn’t have that monetary value.

OP, I agree that SW is a difficult zone, especially to solo. The mobs have some serious conditions and mechanics that can tear you up if you aren’t paying attention.
I haven’t had any issues with having the meta succeed, however. Sometimes it is slow to start and I have to maybe duo a fort with someone to get progress going, but once progress starts and you hit the 50% mark, that’s when it begins to populate and then it’s almost guaranteed to make it to Vinewrath.
The thing about SW is that it is an extremely rewarding zone. Like you get crazy loot out in SW.

People have been complaining about no gvg, and they want a structured fighting system. If the “name of the game” is really “guild wars”, they should make guild WARS. I’m not asking for another gvg battle system, but rather guilds own territory, and fight other guilds to keep it. Having specific castles throughout the world, with their bonuses to keep would increase the meaning to be a guild, and fulfill the name of the game.
Pls leave comments.
So the mega guilds who recruit as many people as humanly possible will just be able to zerg everyone else off the map?
You get a big no from me. There would be no way to keep it an even playing field. How could a guild of 50 people possibly compete against a guild with 500 people.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Then remove WvW areas from map completion requirements. Problem solved.
Or how about adjust the queue system to prioritize by rank. Rank 500+, you automatically bump to top of queue. Rank 1 guy looking to just map complete WvW, well they will have to wait behind people that clearly are interested in doing WvW competitively.
I honestly feel that the higher ranked players should start getting some added benefit for their time spent in WvW. Having queue priority would be a nice perk and it would reduce the number of PvEers in the map. You couldn’t eliminate it entirely as once someone joined, they couldn’t be kicked out, but at least you know that if you are a true WvWer that when you queue you will bypass all of the PvEers working on map complete.
Then of course there is the “passive mode” option (got the idea from GTA5 Online). You flag yourself as “passive”, you become semi-transparent, cannot capture any points, cannot attack players, cannot be attacked, cannot use chat functions, but you can collect POIs, skill points, and vistas. If your side doesn’t have a tower, you will still have to wait until it is flipped. This mode would not count toward the population total of each server.
So a dude that grinds himself 10k ranks in eotm should have the priority on a queue over those that actually play the real wvw. No thanks. Wvw completion can be a drag but if you are patient or social enough to ask for some help it is no biggy at all. As i said in my first reply, idm to help those ppl out.
How would that be any different than the system we have currently…
As it stands someone who is rank 1 and is stumbling around looking for POIs takes spots away from people who play real WvW.
I mean, with my idea, sure someone could spend years grinding out ranks in EoTM if they really wanted to, but why would they do that? To get WvW priority? If so, then it sounds like they actually want to play real WvW…
Nobody would spend thousands of hours grinding ranks simply to get priority in WvW queues so they can do map completion of all things…
It would be a non-issue.

Mules and guild banks are good suggestions, but don’t work for soulbound items, which was OP’s main complaint ;-) Though moving some accountbound/unbound items out of the bank should help a lot.
I’d rather see some of these things moved into the wallet (bandit crests, etc). I mean…that’s what it’s there for, right? But yeah, more bank tabs would always be nice!
I’d also settle for a hint in the tooltip as /which/ soul an item is bound to. Logging in 6 or more times to figure that out is rather annoying!
Totally agree that it is a pain finding out to which character an item is soulbound, but I have maybe 6-7 soulbound items in my bank. How does he have his bank full of them!

The question would be, how could they possibly find out you played his account to level him up. Sure they can see IP, but I’ve played GW2 at a friend’s house before, so it’s plausible that’s what took place.
The fact we discussed this on the forums may put you on some kind of list, however.

Many people use unplayed characters as “mules” for things.
I have all possible bank tabs. I’ve been playing since early release. I still have at least 2 or 3 banks tabs available for space.
If you somehow have filled up your bank, my theory would be that you are holding onto things you really don’t need to.
Another popular option is to create your own guild strictly for use of guild bank.
I highly recommend that option in addition to muling items that have collected dust onto a lesser played character.

I agree with the OP. I am also completely against jump puzzles in dungeons and fractals. They make me literally sick and triggers massive headaches. I remember they said it would be optional content, it doesn’t feel like that anymore.
Well luckily there aren’t any JPs in dungeons or fractals. So you’re good.
Uncategorized Fractal says hello. Mad King’s Clock Tower says hello.
mad king clock isn’t a jumping puzzle, it’s a jumping race.
big difference there.
I’d go so far as to say it is a jumping puzzle race. There is one specific spot where people literally don’t know where to go (you have to jump down a ways). IMO that changes it from just a race, to a puzzle because it isn’t so clear as to where you will go.
However, some are claiming that if there’s a jump where if you miss you die, then it is a puzzle.
Like in WvW, if I try to jump down to a lower cliff to save travel time, that is a puzzle by their definition because there’s a chance I could misjudge the distance and die.
Basically they don’t want any content that involves space bars and the potential for dying if they don’t hit space bar at the right time.

And you can certainly do it at your own leisure. Unless you are simply trying to bypass the content by running through the harpies, which is not what is intended and is your own doing.
All 5 jump to one platform. Rotate stability/reflects/absorbs while killing harpy. All move to next platform. Repeat. Some harpies you strictly range so you aren’t attacked by 3 at a time.
I can and have done Uncategorized in this manner without issue up to FoTM50.

If you get motion sickness easily, then you need to do it the normal slow way.

If it sounds like an opinion, then it probably is, besides the fact that nothing anyone says about this game should ever be interpreted as fact unless it comes from the mouth/red post of an Anet dev. (or you have a reliable source like the wiki)
That’s a fair policy. But I don’t think it’s necessary to assume everything everyone says on the forum is merely opinion. Sometimes facts are indeed stated.
The whole P2W argument though stems from people stating as fact that GW2 is P2W. That’s why it is such a heated topic. Basically the “Is to!” “Is not!” argument.

Platform jumping are jump puzzles. You have to gauge distance and speed to make the jump properly. It can trigger motion sickness in many players. But it doesn’t happen to you so everyone else it does happen to is kittened. Am I doing it right?
If you have to gauge a distance’s jump then it is automatically a puzzle?
Like if I see a puddle on the ground and I jump over it. You’re telling me that’s essentially a puzzle….?
I have a feeling we have very different definitions of what a puzzle is.
Now getting motion sickness is a legitimate concern. In actual jumping puzzles it is typically caused by the camera re-adjusting, perhaps having to change directions quickly (like Mad King). In Uncategorized you can stop, press W and space. Stop. Kill harpy. Slowly move your character’s direction. Press W and space. Stop. Kill harpy. You don’t have to do any kind of crazy camera controlling, there aren’t blind walls that force your camera angle to change to some weirdo angle, heck that even makes me sick sometimes.
Without the weirdo camera movements or having to change directions quickly, what is causing the motion sickness? Jumping in general? Like if you ran in a straight line on flat ground jumping, do you get motion sickness?

So it does beg the question, is that “pay to win” if you are just accelerating progress. You mentioned it was a form of “pay to win” but that sounds like more of an opinion than anything else. To me, “pay to win” means someone who pays money has a distinct advantage over someone who does not pay money when in the context of the content in which they are competing.
If its my opinion, then its my opinion. Who cares if its different from yours or the next dozen people? Why does anyone question any opinion if they are opinions and not fact?
Nobody cares about your opinion or mine. You stated something as though it were fact. I clarified that it sounded more like an opinion, I then gave my opinion, so now we move on.
People don’t usually question opinions (other than “why is that your opinion”—which is a valid question); they typically offer their own, usually opposing opinion, and then an explanation as to why that is their opinion.
You just have to be clear that what you are stating is opinion, otherwise people take it as though you are stating fact, in which case you could definitely be questioned.

Uhm…I think you are confusing jumping puzzles with jumping……
Mad King’s clock tower is a seasonal Jumping Puzzle. Not a dungeon or a fractal.
Very confused where you were going with that one.
If this thread is just anti-jumping, then this is a pretty ridiculous thread. I’m all for people not liking puzzles, with bad angles, thin areas you have to jump on, no checkpoints to speak of, etc. But people being against jumping in general? Please…..
Uncategorized fractal has you jump on platforms. That’s it. No puzzle, no possible way to confuse which direction you need to go. It’s literally jump from one platform to the next while fighting harpies. If that qualifies as a mini-jumping puzzle then I really don’t even know what to say.
Guess we need SAB Infantile mode rainbows to go over every area that a player might possibly have to use a space bar? Is this what we’ve been become?

But the way to buy weapons is a joke. You have to use a lottery system hoping eventually you’ll get enough tickets to buy a skin, but you don’t know how much you need to spend in order to get a given weapon. It feels like a cheap scam from F2P games, not something from a buy to play game.
Very true. I’m not a fan of the BL claim tickets/scraps system. If I was guaranteed one scrap per key, then we’d be talking, but the fact it is random has deterred me from buying keys multiple times. Just can’t justify the money for RNG thing. I was burned once, and never again.

Quote Draknar.5748
Think of it like a race where everyone has the same car. The car costs $1000. Person A scrimped and saved and bought the $1000 car, cleaned out his account. Person B was given $5000 from his uncle to buy the car, but only needed $1000, so has $4000 left over in his account. Now they race, the exact same car. Explain how person B has an advantage in this race. Can you read the bold part there bud? Our whole argument have been food and nurishment not gear in anyway that you want to stear it into, there is only white quality.
And as i said before those few stat numbers u get from food and/or nurishment womt make you win.Still back to your argument that 160 bag slots win over 80 bag slots how? when you can pop into wvw and sell from anywere in the world or insta sell on trading post.’
If you dont straight up salvage it all.
What items are so valuable that you have to keep them in your inventory at all?Edit
Your also asuming person A dident start before person B and they start with the car at the same time due to diffrent starting times.
Edit 2
Getting hard to reply to eachother now without it becoming a big wall of text, also quite suprised it havent got closed yet consdering how we derailed it.
I’m not your bud, guy.
I was referring to food. Food buffs were the car in this case, but it is an analogy that would extend to anything. I think you might have meant to quote someone’s response to my quote. All this quoting is getting out of control lol.
Someone said that the guy who buys gold has a distinct advantage in competitive WvW because they can buy more food, giving them better stats. I was saying that competitive WvWers have food already, you can only eat one food at a time. If you don’t eat food while in WvW, then you can’t really call yourself a competitive WvWer, because food gives you a pretty substantial buff. Then you’re more of a casual WvWer.
Even if that person were only to make enough money to buy one piece of food every 30min, it would be the same outcome as if someone had 1000s of gold and had unlimited food. Both players have the same food buff and can only eat food at a specific rate (whatever the duration is).
Having a bunch of extra food (which is all a bunch of money would get you in WvW food-wise) isn’t an advantage competitively as long as all of the other players have the same food access, which they do.
So, you could say that someone who buys gold, and outfits themselves with the best gear and food would have an advantage over a casual WvWer. But not from a money standpoint, simply from a player standpoint, because a competitive WvWer who didn’t buy gold would have the same advantage over a casual WvWer (top end gear and food). Money is moot in competitive play in this game.
I will admit that on a meta scale, having more money does give you an advantage, in terms of siege availability, putting plates of food out to save others from spending money, etc. In big picture the most well-funded side, player numbers and skill being equal, would have some kind of advantage.
Then again, you don’t need to buy gold in order to achieve any of this. So again, it’s hard to claim P2W versus P2equality.
I have no problem with P2equality. I earn my stuff, and if someone wants to pay money to essentially catch up to my gear/food, more power to them. They won’t have the years of experience I do. Can’t buy that with gold. I would still beat them.
TL:DR GW2 is p2equality, not p2w, and there’s nothing wrong with p2equality because when all is equal, skill is what decides the winner. Which is how GW2 works.

And here I am hoping they add more jumping puzzles. I rescind my club application.

I made and equipped Twilight and got the achievement so I’m not really sure what you’re talking about. Unless this is a recent change.
Twice-told legend perhaps? Think he’s suggesting if you make Twilight and make Sunrise, you should get the twice-told legend title, since they are pretty much the same weapon. However, that defeats the entire purpose of the title as it was a measure to appease those who made two Incinerators, for example, and then the wardrobe came out, essentially meaning they didn’t have to craft a second one in order to get the look anymore. So they get some AP and a snazzy title.
