Here’s the two alternative paths, starting from where Dulfy places a portal.
Orange: Lean techniques required. You glide to the branch below the mushroom, walk up the branch, then glide over to the mushroom, continuing on Dulfy’s path.
Red: You glide to the area below, move to the edge, glide to the updraft in the distance, turn around and glide to the box. This is what Dulfy should have shown.
you will not get to mastery lvl 161 without doing most of the adventures/nightmares
You will not get to mastery level 163 without raiding.
Rings from soloing the daily fractal, the other accessories from HoT’s story, weapons from dropped boxes and the chest piece from the achievement. I haven’t bothered with the rest, though I do have maxed professions and enough to craft whatever (~100 of each: damask, etc) – but why bother?
I would farm the mats, but god knows that farming a specific mat in this game and getting a decent amount of it is a joke.
Due to the personal loot system, you’re not actually meant to farm your own materials. You’re meant to farm a little bit of everything and sell what you don’t need and buy what you do.
First, you should refer to your motherboard manual to determine which slots you should be using for optimal performance. You may also want to update the BIOS and manually configure the memory based on what is recommended by the manufacturer.
If you’re using Windows 7 or higher, search the control panel for “memory” and run the memory diagnostics tool. Alternatively, download and boot memtest86.
The Meta cannot be successful unless a certain number of players participate and if there’s 15 people farming nodes then that many less players are able to join the map.
Despite popular belief, you do not need a full map to complete meta events. You rarely need more than 3 people to actually meet the minimum requirements of most individual events. Considering I’ve pushed entire chains solo in VB, I’d assume a coordinated group of about 20 players could easily hit T4. The problem however is that doing this is not rewarding at all. The less people you bring, the harder it gets and in comparison to zerging, the less rewards you receive for the time spent.
If you’re going to complain about people not participating, there are far more people doing something else than those logging in for a minute to gather flax. Consider all the AFK people, the raiders, adventures, hero challenges or people simply exploring.
I run through most (~13) of the adventures in about an hour, which is worth roughly 700k XP daily.
Personally, I found masteries trivial to acquire. I played through HoT exploration style, spending maybe 24 hours of play time per zone before moving on. For a sample, I completed most of the achievements without even looking at what was available. By the time I reached the end of TD, I had leyline gliding and up to the champion challenger masteries of everything else. I didn’t grind at all, however I started every day by doing all of the adventures I had already found.
You can play vanilla GW on your own time. Got a spare hour? Great! You can do an hour’s worth of content and make some progress.
If your goal is experience, I do 13 of the adventures in about an hour (~700k XP). If it’s day in VB, I start there, otherwise I skip to AB and come back after TD. I usually don’t have to deal with locked adventures this way, but occasionally I have to spend an extra hour pushing VB solo (just for the shooting gallery).
Im using a 64bit os with an 8 core 64bit cpu and i cant use it either.
64-bit client? It’s bugged for some CPUs and will be fixed in the future.
32-bit client? Ensure that all the cores are enabled (check BIOS and msconfig).
One of the official retailers (funstock) had HoT on sale for $34 US about a month ago. Considering that, buying just the core game for ~$20 seems silly.
so if the problem is my crappy pc, why i can play Fallout 4 on 60 fps?
Either you can’t or you’re running a 64-bit OS because Fallout 4 is 64-bit. If you have a 64-bit OS, then download the 64-bit client and overwrite your existing Gw2.exe.
ArenaNet will eventually get around to fixing the problem, but right now you have to try to fix it yourself. Considering how they fixed the high-res texture problem however, their fix might also include locking you to the lowest settings.
With HoT, Gw2 is simply requiring more memory and for 32-bit systems, it’s right on the limit. I’m sure they can optimize it further, but for now, the 64-bit client is basically required. If you have Windows 7 or up, you should simply upgrade for free.
If you must remain 32-bit however, you can attempt to limit your memory usage by running on the lowest graphical and sound settings (you can also try the -nosound option). Fully download the client and disable streaming. Use fullscreen mode and try a smaller resolution. For NVidia GPUs, reduce the maximum pre-rendered frames to 1 under application specific 3D settings. If you can prevent it from OOMing on the lowest possible settings, then you can try working up from there by slowly increasing them.
Enabling the action camera resets the “vertical position far” camera option found under the general options. Slide it to the left for the original default, though newer accounts seem to have it higher.
Why would ANet allow this without some sort of hefty charge?
Character deletion. You should be mailed the unlock item(s) upon deletion of the character. All gem store items on a deleted character should be automatically recovered, which would prevent support requests such as deleting their gathering tools.
Yes you can use it, but what they say is not entirely accurate. If you have a good connection already, the use of software like this may not reduce your latency. Worst case, it’ll actually increase it.
Simply create a free account and try it. Another popular one is battleping.
2) They publicly belittled the high end end game content without even providing context. (The fact they were testers)
This is the simple reason. ArenaNet tried to appeal to those wanting challenging content/raiding. Anyone that follows the meta or looks into endgame PvE has likely heard of DnT. From the perspective of someone looking for that type of content, DnT essentially said to pass on this game.
Oh…you mean like the security team lead calling out a player as a cheater flat out, without even looking into it properly?
ArenaNet has to put a lot of trust in you to unban your account. How do you know he wasn’t cheating? He could have easily been using a VPN to mask the other accounts and one day he accidentally logged in normally which got his real accounts flagged.
If it wasn’t for him getting called out, he likely would have never admitted to account sharing himself and support wouldn’t have revealed that fact. In his case, he’s lucky that happened.
As for DnT, they were publicly included and publicly removed. It’s as simple as that.
According to the HoT site:
Of course, the story of Tyria will continue beyond the launch of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns.
If you own the expansion, you’ll be able to simply log in to the game to gain free access to upcoming Living World releases!
Even if they allowed everyone to unlock it for free, season 3 will likely take place within HoT, which you wouldn’t be able to access.
The big problem I have with adventures is that they feel completely out of place thematically and mechanically. Take Shooting Gallery for example. Thematically Verdant Brink is about the survivors of the pact fleet scrambling to organise themselves and defend against the jungles dangers. So why did they set up a shooting gallery while they had to do so much just for their own survival ?
Remember the event chain? It was also a training camp. The shooting gallery is soldier training, just like that one heart in Queensdale. It might have been more obvious to link it to the sylvari sniper team however.
Mechanically, what’s an FPS minigame doing in a tab-targeting RPG ?
GW2 is a hybrid action RPG designed with the skill based combat of an action RPG while still supporting the friendliness of targeting. The action camera is a sample of full action combat and it has always been mechanically supported; there just wasn’t a UI for it.
A lot of the events do scale. In VB for example, I’ve solo’d the updraft wyvern, 3-manned the other wyvern and have done the 2 frogs with 3-4 people. Some events however don’t scale at all, such as the collection events. The one to collect parts to bomb the tree for example seems to assume 10+ people and the Faren one simply wants 50, which takes seconds for a zerg and like 10 minutes to solo.
The problem I see a lot is people simply not believing it’s possible. They’ve done it with a zerg so they think a zerg is required. Additionally, the less people you bring, the more effort is required. People assume it’ll fail so they don’t even try, when really, if everyone participated, it might succeed. I’ve basically solo’d each chain in VB for example, so T4 should be easy. I can solo most camps at night, so holding them should be easy. With 15-30 players, T4 day/night should be a success. The problem is people need to be able to hold their own and not zerg. The other problem of course is that the risk vs reward is completely backwards compared to simply zerging.
ArenaNet does not vet 3rd party programs.
But yes, assuming what they say is true, the program is legal. It’s not against the rules to take a screenshot or record your gameplay. If you’re paranoid, nothing’s going to stop you from using OCR on a recorded video.
Gw2Setup.exe is the 32-bit client. Simply rename it and place it in the same folder as Gw2.dat.
(the name “Gw2Setup” is a special override, which is equivalent to Gw2.exe -allowInstall)
206.127.146.5 and 64.25.47.122 are both located in Frankfurt, Germany. Websites that supply real world locations are only estimations or based on the owner of the IP, which in this case is NCSoft US. A simple tracert and the answer’s obvious.
As for the connectivity, you appear to be experiencing quite a bit of packet loss. Your ISP is dropping packets to Level3’s network. You’re also dropping a minor amount of packets to your ISP, though that is due to your wireless connection.
You’ll need to complain to your ISP about the packet loss. In case your ISP is throttling ports, you can try running Gw2.exe with the -clientport 80 or 443 options. You can also try to use a VPN in an attempt to change the route you take to GW2’s servers.
Running Gw2Setup.exe? If so, rename it to Gw2.exe and place it wherever you’d like to install the game, such as C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe.
You should be running the 64-bit client. Download it, rename it to Gw2.exe and replace or rename your old one. Some people have reported that the 64-bit client had corrupted their Gw2.dat file however, so if you want to be safe, you may want to make a backup of it.
(the OOM crash is due to the memory limitation of the 32-bit client)
2. The projectile of the Rifle
Shooting has a small cast time and the projectile is shot in the direction of where you first clicked on the screen. Keep in mind that it’s based on the screen and not at what you were originally aiming at in the world, so any character movement will adjust your shot.
3. Skill 2
Reloading. The only point of that skill is when you know you’ll likely miss. Of course there’s a downside.
5. The Dummy Icon bug
Once the multi-spawn phase begins, dummies are capable of spawning on existing dummies. When this happens, one of the dummies in the spawn cycle is lost and the icon sticks because only 1 of them could be shot.
SMS or an authenticator is required for newer accounts to transfer gold or items.
The only problem I have at the moment is that there are no male relationships that mimic this kind of bond.
Sylvari Green Knight personal story, Dagdar and Eladus.
Sylvari don’t really count however, as they have no concept of it.
Check for programs with high disk or CPU usage (Resource Monitor). Also ensure that your system drive (generally C:\) is not full (less than 1 GB remaining).
Adventures can only be progressed individually. Most of them take place in the open world with other players around, but a few are completely instanced. For the open world adventures, other players can either be a boon or a burden. Multiple players in the salvage pit for example are going to create a mess with the tendrils throwing AoEs everywhere, plus dead players can easily grief you when you need to interact with things. I’ve never seen it personally, but I heard you could cheat with the help of other players by, for example, using a Mesmer’s portal.
cant get refund as waited to long.
Did you even try? The policy is different for pre-purchases.
You must wait for the initial leap to end before using the jump skill.
But I don’t want to replace it.
Rename the old one to Gw2-32.exe. Unless you intentionally want to run it, you’ll likely never use it again.
You could just rename Gw2-64.exe to Gw2.exe. It doesn’t actually matter what you name it.
They do not have genitalia.
What the asura says is true. Sylvari are not capable of reproducing, thus they do not have reproductive organs. They do however have what they need for fun.
This was confirmed when sylvari were revealed back during development:
Physically, sylvari are male or female, and the relevant external biology is accurate on both, but they cannot sexually reproduce as the other races do; they have no internal organs capable of creating children.

Blame the Pale Tree for making you with unremovable clothes. Embrace Simplicity.
Sylvari clothing, as in the cultural look, is grown as an extension of the body.
Yes. It was mentioned back when they revealed the Sylvari. See the biology section under http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dream_and_Nightmare (search for physically)
Although yes WTFast does somewhat resemble a VPN, it however carries across your actual IP address along with the VPN IP address.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Banned-for-gold-selling-what-the-hell/4829933
As for WTFast using your actual IP, it’s basically disabled while you’re logging in. It then activates and hijacks your authenticated session. While actually playing, ArenaNet will see WTFast’s IP. For ArenaNet to actually see your IP while tunneling, they would have to be acting as the end of that tunnel, as in an extension of WTFast.
Using a VPN is okay, however it carries a risk due to the fact that you’re sharing an IP. If a bunch of bots are on the same IP for example, ArenaNet will ban all accounts linked to that IP. Simply put, there’s a 1% chance you’ll be banned for a few days for no reason.
If you’re experiencing packet loss at some point on your route, yes, a VPN can solve that problem. You’ll need to select a VPN server so that the route you take is no longer going through the problematic network. If it’s on your ISP’s own network however, you might not be able to.
If it’s just an event that is stuck, show up a few minutes late to Jormag and you’ll have a new instance. You can also try guesting to other (populated) servers in hopes that they have a different instance.
The maps are populated, the problem is if you just login with the intention of playing, you’re likely going to get put into one of the last instances with the least amount of people.
Megaservers reserve space for people who join through parties. The problem is that people then taxi out of your less populated instance, which further increases the problem for everyone else.
If GW2 was only using 57 MB, you wouldn’t be seeing or hearing anything. It’s very likely that you’re not reading it correctly. 650 MB also seems fairly low, considering on low settings it’s easily double that. The memory usage listed under the task manager is in thousands of bytes, so 57 MB would appear kitten,000 K.
Assuming it’s using more, if it’s using more memory that you physically have, Windows will use your disk as a substitute. This can cause a heavy performance loss.
Wait until it’s $10.
That’ll never happen again. It’s unlikely to drop below 50% officially since a new expansion will be announced by that time. Like the core game, they’ll probably end up giving HoT away for free to everyone next expansion solely to keep the numbers up in the old areas. Besides, if you wait that long, you’ll probably be missing 2-3 seasons of the living story, which is around $32-48 in gems.
The contribution system is still simply based on killing a single enemy, dealing a little damage to the boss or turning in a single item. The only difference is that now there’s a ~3 minute AFK timer which temporarily voids your contribution until you contribute again in any way.
Strafe speed will vary depending on if you’re angled forward (run speed), backwards (backup speed) or just to the side (strafe speed). There are also bugs that can cause you to not move entirely or run at a walking speed, both of which you need to re-press a movement key to fix.
Considering #2 is not GW2 itself, I’m assuming some other program is reacting to your print screen key. In this case, simply unbind the print screen key under GW2’s control options. If you’re using an auto batch converter however, you’ll need to instead delete the screenshots after the conversion.
The launcher is Gw2-64.exe. You simply had to overwrite your old Gw2.exe to immediately begin playing with the 64-bit client.
Executing the launcher will begin patching to whatever folder it’s located in. If you ran it from your downloads folder, it installed to your downloads folder. GW2 isn’t installed in the traditional sense, so you can freely move it wherever you want. The only files required are Gw2.exe/Gw2-64.exe (the launcher) and Gw2.dat (all the game data).
Having VS installed shouldn’t cause any problems. Depending on how up to date your system is, it will however try to install packages such as .NET and DX. It might have messed with system files, which Windows Update should fix.
Check your CPU and disk usage. If something was eating the CPU in the background, it would have greatly affected GW2. Heavy disk usage would have affected loading.
If the installation files were not legitimate, it could have been packaged with a virus. A coin miner for example would have done it.
It seems like there’s RNG for the shooting as well.
Shooting has a cast time and it shoots at where you first clicked rather than where your pointer is when it actually fires. Moving during the cast will however adjust your shot based on where it was when you first clicked. For example, if you aim to the left, fire and strafe to the right so that your pointer is over the target during the cast, you will hit it.
If you really want to “install” it, rename Gw2-64.exe to Gw2Setup.exe or use the -allowInstall option.
