Now you can feel kitten about being unable to afford a precursor in a whole new way!
Now, you can’t even afford to make one!
Leave it to Anet not to understand what the problem was in the first place!
Trinity isn’t bad and wow has some of the best raiding ever created. I welcome having a wow style raid with healers but with gw2 combat. It isnt the style of raids and the format that makes me dislike wow. It’s the aweful combat system compared to gw2.
Its not gw2 combat with unavoidable dmg.
You’re right, it’s an evolution to gw2 combat. Making unavoidable damage will break the all dps all the time mentality and provide a more healthy environment. Not having it would be bad for the game.
What replaces it will be stricter and more toxic than the zerker meta could have ever been.
Will there be more armor skins with HoT?

Really pathetic for an entire expansion, isn’kitten Even EotN had more than that, and it was literally cobbled together out of a scrapped project.
I hope they at least pad that out by mixing some of the currently unavailable armor sets in there.
Perhaps people should try out the class and the expansion before going into a tangent about how the Druid does no damage. If I recall the Monk was one of the most sought after classes in GW1 and it seems that the Druid will now be the healing meta that all parties will need. You hear that Rangers? Parties will actually want you to come along cause you will actually be useful now.
monkey’s paw folds down one finger
Look it’s simple. Players complain having rangers in a party is selfish. Anet makes it so that having a ranger in party can benefit the group. It’ll be hard to call rangers selfish now. lol
It’s some straight-up monkey’s paw kitten, I swear to God.
“I want to be desired in groups” “congratulations, you’re a healbot”
Straight-up monkey’s paw kitten right there.
Weren’t the intent of dungeons to be played how people wanted? I’d say they’ve been played as intended for 3 years (ignoring exploits – all dungeon content can be done in full zerker no exploits). Everyone may not be played how you want, but they are being played as intended.
Being excluded because you don’t want to play like someone else want to is not intended, no.
Yes, it is. Raids are built on excluding most of the playerbase, that’s literally their entire point.
I don’t play ranger to BE A kittenING MONK
That’s literally the opposite of what I want to do!
The number of people who oppose QoL features that don’t harm them in any way will never cease to be amazing.
Pre-Collections reveal on HoT Launchday(?)

I kind of hope most of the items will be account-bound, more like Mawdrey or Luminescent armor than an absolute clusterkitten like Treasure Hunter.
If you guys want to take away prestige for PvPers lets make it fair and remove it for PvEers too. Lets see how many agree to that.
and then nothing is special.
i want the oldschool PVEers to keep their unobtainables
and for us oldschoole PVPers to keep ours.there is very little prestige in GW2 at the moment,
legendaries?! there is nothing legendary about them, go to a regular hangout spot and you’ll see 15 guys using the same “legendary”.
the only small facets of prestige comes from items that are no longer obtainable,
you had to be there to get them.people should stop seeing unobtainable items as a downside,
they’re something to make the game worth playing,
for instance i’ve not really bothered with S2 “unique items” because i already know they aren’t going to be rewarding, special, or prestigious they’ll be available from a laurel vendor or by other trivial means.
People who get enjoyment out of other people not having things they already have are the worst kind of people.
Dry Top will need it a lot more than the Silverwastes, I think, though both will probably need to be adjusted after HoT comes out (since all of HoT’s maps will be competing with them, on top of the whole “people concentrating on the new stuff” aspects)
And yet they still haven’t fixed teragriffs so their charge has a proper-sized hitbox!
The longer it takes to come back the better. No point in using it when its not exclusive anymore.
Unless, you know, you like the skin for its own sake. I guess that’s a foreign concept to people like you, though.
If they bring back old PvP exclusive armor then they need to bring back all the old PvE exclusive items they’ve removed that are exceedingly rare as well and make them just as easy to get your hands on.
They did. Aside from one or two items that are inexplicably absent, and a few that are still buyable on the TP, almost all the old living story rewards are available from laurel vendors.
Please make Raids so stacking isnt possible

My hope is only it doesn’t turns into Meta groups and builds and nothing else.
Raids are going to be an exclusionary nightmare that makes the current dungeon meta look welcoming in comparison, mark my words.
They’re already said they intend to bring it and the other unavailable armors back, and padding out the anemic number of actual new armor sets in HoT would be a good place to do so.
I really like the idea of HoT being filled with more veteran enemies than normal enemies. HoT is essentially going to be the new endgame, filled with new challenges and increased difficulty over the core game. Since most of HoT seems to be the possible answer to the veteran players who desire harder content, I wouldn’t decrease the difficulty of what we’ve seen so far. At all.
I actually hope HoT becomes more and more difficult as we venture deeper into the jungle, and perhaps we’ll even run into areas full of elite enemies instead of veterans. You can always go to the core game if you want easy enemies, but please don’t encourage ANet to decrease the difficulty in this amazing game. There will still be plenty of easy content when HoT comes out.
That definitely sounds like a fun thing to travel through multiple times said no one ever.
I’m amazed how many people confuse “challenge” with “tedious slog”.
Why excited for Gliding but not UnderWater?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Hyper Cutter.9376
People are such babies about underwater combat. If you’ve got exotic weapons and a level 80 aquabreather (I’m amazed by how many people even in my own guild don’t bother with this!), it’s just fine. A little rough if you’re a thief or an elementalist, maybe, but everything else works great underwater.
They do need to fix that charge attack sharks do so it doesn’t hit an entire body length ahead of the shark’s model, though. Only hitbox in the game buggier than the charging teragriffs.
The playerbase is too greedy to allow event mobs to drop loot. Anet learned that lesson the hard way.
3. Elite specs are also Expansion content. They are designed to be immediately equipped in the core came by everyone, free account or otherwise. They are meant to be discovered, unlocked, and then used to your advantage in the jungle.
They’re only expansion content in the sense that they’re locked behind the $50 paywall, as far as I know they haven’t actually specified how you unlock them.
How exactly would it hurt any of you if someone were able to choose to use their elite spec as soon as traits were available? Who’s being harmed in this scenario?
I’m hoping there’s a way to code it so that pushes and pulls can still work while making them immune to damage or other conditions.
There is, Molten Protectors work exactly like that.
The birds and the SAB things were originally sold on the gem store directly, and were always account-bound. All the other ones that drop from the chest work as normal.
The birds and the SAB minis were always account-bound, so they stayed that way. iirc, all the other minipets that drop from chests can be sold and forged.
Honestly, the amount of silk coming into the game is probably similar to that of thick leather (cloth and leather have basically the same sources: salvage and loot bags), since pre-ascended armor they were both equally common and basically worthless.
You can go around the side of the island and basically walk right to the vista. You only get teleported out if you go into the area below it, and then only when Taidha’s event is actually going, unless it got bugged somehow.
10 Zerker Rangers will face roll all Raid bosses. With pets, you have 20 individual attackers. Pet swap give your party an additional 10 when your pet dies.
God, I wish.
Only 4 new armor sets (per armor type)
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Hyper Cutter.9376
There’s also the possibility they’ll pad out the amount of armor in HoT in the form of armor sets that are not “new” but never been properly available in PVE (Tribal, the rest of Stalwart and Apostle, the gloves and boots of Marauder, etc). They’ve already said they intend to make those available at some unspecified point, and that would kill two birds with one stone.
Marionette fight was super cool.
My only suggestion to make it even better would be to make it so that successful platform groups that finish quick should be able to walk over and help adjacent platform groups after they are done with theirs.
Yeah, that was pretty much the only non-population-related problem that fight had.
You have 2 ranged sets, maybe it needs improvement but Thieves certainly don’t need a 3rd ranged set. Why would you need more ranged than melee ? Also the staff provides AoE, something the thief was lacking.
Thieves are literally the only profession without a 1200 range weapon (even guardian scepter had that, and guardian ranged options were so terrible that fixing it was the entire point of Dragonhunter).

ironically you’re calling ME selfish while you’re the one trying to get peoples rewards devalued because you couldn’t be bothered to earn them when you had the chance.
Not wanting people to have something they want because it will shrink your e-kitten is pretty much the definition of selfish.
- Pets do not track intended targets properly nor efficiently, particularly when terrain is uneven
- In fact, pet AI is completely broken; the time lag between controlling your pet and the desired effect (whether it be F2 skill activation or physical re-placement) is entirely game-changing
Neither of those are really pet issues, they’re issues with the general monster AI which pets share with everything else.
Raids only work if you lock something desirable and exclusive behind them. If you can get the shinies some other way, the raiders get upset because there aren’t enough people to raid with them.
And here I thought people just wanted the challenge for its own sake… or at least that’s what people kept claiming anyway.
I’m really impressed at how quickly toxic raider culture is sweeping the forums. Well, in a “horrible car accident” kind of way.
That’s only one more map than we got for free since the game’s release, and we’re paying $50 for this. Just putting that out here.
Totally not a living story season bolted to a feature pack, no sir.
How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Hyper Cutter.9376
I love how it took only a few hours for toxic raider culture to take root in the forums.
ITT: literally every reason raids have a bad name in so many other games.
Go play Dark Souls, that’s more to your taste.
There is also the fact that at least 2 skins which are armor headpieces had to be designed to work with what are now outfits, the top hat and monocle. They do not match ANY armor set yet work perfectly with the tuxedo yet can not be worn together now. So that’s just one inconsistency with the system.
The monocle was never town clothes, it was always an armor piece (it dropped from the Aetherblade dungeon and I think the attack on LA, iirc).
The fact that the back piece for the armor can be shown while wearing an outfit, plus some of the outfit pieces can be turned off individually like the headpiece, shows that indeed these have to be coded as separate pieces, or else the toggle would hide the entire outfit.
The helm of outfits is designed to be able to turn off so it works properly in cutscenes (which automatically turn off your headgear).
Upping their health to pve size would just encourage more ranger zergs that would effectively have a beefy frontline of pets that would be silly to try and attack cause they would have so much health. Anybody that uses AoE would be annoyed if they drop a Well of Suffering for example and 3 of their targets are 70k health bears.
Oh no, rangers would actually be wanted for something!
The +25% speed boost is a massive quality of life improvement when playing the game (especially playing as a charr or norn), making it more widely available was the best thing that ever happened.
There’s no reason Tribal, Apostle, Stalwart, Marauder, and the other armor sets that were just arbitrarily not available in full shouldn’t be available normally. They weren’t designed to be special, they’re just skins that fell between the cracks (Stalwart and Apostle were probably intended to be given to you as personal story rewards, for example, but for some reason only the chest is).
Also, I want my godkitten ed Apostle pants and Stalwart shoulders, the only parts of those sets I don’t have.
OP is totally right. The best and rarest items in the game must be given to noobs an casuals for free and in abundance.
This but unironically.
Can I have your stuff?
That’s why I didn’t want a comparisson between SW chest farming and Arah P4 but Arah paths between them. You say that the difficulty of Arah P4 is the main reason for it not being run, let me ask something different, if Arah P4 had actually amazing rewards would it be run more often? Is it really the difficulty that makes it so unlikeable?
Aetherpath has a whole set of weapons worth hundreds of gold apiece on the TP that drop only there, and people still avoid it like the plague.
I think you can get mini horrik from the TP anyway.
That’s the Magnus mini you’re thinking of, I’m pretty sure.
HoT Expansion. What exactly are we getting?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Just wanted to add that buying the xpac doesn’t only buy what will be at xpac’s release but all the content until next xpac. That is also one reason they can’t really tell what is included in the xpac right now.
For example the base game didn’t include several things like Southsun, Dry top and Silverwastes, new PvP maps, collections, guild missions…
It’s not that I want absolutely defend Anet but it would make sense for me that not all maps are available at release, maybe the real Mordremoth fight will happen on a new map that they are not happy with right now but will be available 4 months after HOT. Basically buying HOT will buy you this … but not at release.
I would laugh so hard if they released HoT and it was that blatantly unfinished. Pretty much everyone, media and players alike, would eat them alive for that.
[Suggestion] Elementalist Permanent Summon
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Hyper Cutter.9376
I’ve always thought our Elementals should stay until killed, just like Necro minions.
All summons should, really.
for world bosses (including those with no official timer, like the Commissar), the UI chest is once per account per day, while the chest on the ground (the one that drops boss-specific items) is once per character per day.
When people said they wanted an expansion, they meant they wanted something on the scale of Factions or Nightfall, complete with all the bells and whistles. As is, we’re not even getting a new playable race (a standard MMO expansion feature) and what we are getting seems to be kitten at best.
