Make sure these areas are named on your maps to get your Explorer achievement.
Today in Queensdale you would see hot air balloons in the zone, Queen’s champions, Aetherblade ships flying in and bombarding the hot air balloons and dropping various kinds of aetherblade mobs to attack.
Today’s Queensdale is very different from launch Queensdale. Give it 2 weeks and it will be different again
Hard to say. I’ve been playing since launch and always running into events or creatures I haven’t seen before.
Holy crap, whoever wrote the poem I tip my hat! Gave me goosebumps.
pulls out the pitchfork Bring it on!
checks the calendar Well crap…I get my teeth out that day, I’m going to drugged senseless…. going to make things interesting!
Goosebumps indeed! The 20th is going to be a gamechanger, no mistake. I feel a bout of the GW2 flu coming on
It’s hard to say if your experience would be different since there are 3000+ dynamic events in the game which can be triggered by various stages of success or fail.
Would depend if you played them all the first time the first time you leveled (not likely), or if you followed through on event chains, etc. I know they’ve added a few permanent events (Modus Sceleris, Skritt Burglar) and the Living Story keeps rotating in and out more that change over time. They also added quite a few new jumping puzzles and secret areas.
Another thing you can try is playing a different race or a different order to see a completely different way for the story to unfold.
The story is getting very exciting. I love the complexity of the story, how there is all these hints interwoven throughout the game. Makes for a very rich MMO experience
Things are coming to a head. Someone has vandalized the Queen’s Speech splash page:

and look what has been sent to the fan sites:

There’s nothing wrong with your system…its just the absurd spell effects when multiple people use skill s at the same time, its just way way way to much.Especially as playing melee you can barely see your own character or what it is hes doing in all that chaotic mess.Yes anet its a chaotic mess to be looking at,tone down those spell effects allready or give us that kitten slider…
No.
I’ve been playing since launch and never seen it like this. This change happened suddenly with the last update implementing the Effect LOD option.
Yes, I can turn on best texture filtering. Done – no difference.

Here are some more pics so you can see what it’s doing. It looks like the spell effects are on overdrive, fire splashes over the entire screen, a small puff of smoke smothers field of view, whites are too white, things are “too shiny”.
Ty, Kyllaa – I appreciate your help.

Sometimes it’s almost blinding and I really can’t tell what’s going on. Toggling Effect LOD on or off makes no difference.
If anyone can help me with what settings I can change to tone down the effects I would greatly appreciate it.
Hands down the best community I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with.
You guys are great! <3
Keep watching the skies.
Well, that was ominous.
Ominous winds are blowing.
Everyone goes to the latest hotness. Right now Divinity’s Reach, the Queen’s Pavilion, Queensdale, Frostgorge and Cursed Shore are busting at the seams with players.
You might want to join a leveling guild but even still there’s a lot of players that are leveling in the Pavilion.
About 2 months ago I made 7 precursors in the Mystic Forge over the course of one month and ended up walking away 400g richer with my own legendary.
It is a risk, there are no guarantees! There are stories of some people putting enormous amounts of rares into the forge with no luck, but imo the odds of getting a precursor from the forge are highly underrated.
How I did it:
- Buy cheap rare weapons of any type: spears, tridents, focus, hammers, w/e. I put in buy orders at ~17s or less. (this is the most tedious part of the process as your buy orders will get overbid fairly quickly)
- Any combination in the forge as long as the item level totals 300 (80+80+80+60 or 78+62+80+80 or 74+76+74+76, etc.) Just make sure they are not 4 of the same type unless you are going for that specific precursor.
- Sell resulting exotics including any precursors you do not want. Do not forge the exotics!
- Eliminate 5% listing fee by selling to highest bidder by setting the sell price at 1c above vendor price. This eliminates the risk of being undercut as well. (ofc only do this if the highest bid price less 10% TP fee is acceptable)
I first heard about this method from a guildy that would link a precursor in gchat every few days or so. We teased him about his extraordinary luck and he would tell us he didn’t know why everyone didn’t use this method to make gold. This has since been replicated by myself and enough people in my guild to convince me that the risk is moderate enough to warrant the reward.
Not all precursors come with a payoff. Current sell/bid:
Dusk 650/590
The Legend 589/526
Spark 499/450
The Colossus 449/415
Dawn 496/451
The Lover 435/370
The Hunter 375/325
Leaf of Kudzu 399/335
Zap 398/365
Tooth of Frostfang 320/255
The Chosen 265/240
Chaos Gun 240/210
The Energizer 150/123
Howl 149/125
Storm 114/100
Rodgort’s Flame 39/35
Carcharias 35/32
The Bard 40/35
Venom 22/17
Rage 29/20
The idea behind this approach is to ‘fund’ the research with selling the exotics and unwanted precursors until you hit a bigger payoff. Cheap rares reduce the risk, I reduced the cost of each attempt further by selling any high priced rares I got from the forge such as greatswords. On average I would do 4-5 attempts to get an exotic, most exotics are dirt cheap these days but some have very desirable skins. Again, DO NOT FORGE THE EXOTICS!
Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk, there are no guarantees!
Gem prices have not changed. It’s still $10 for 800 gems. Been the same since launch.
The trading of gold to gems between players is directly affected by how much gold is in the game. As more gold is in the game now since launch, that trade will be higher.
Woot! Between this and what Anthony said a couple days ago….
We’ve got some exciting things coming later this month. Things you’ve never seen in this game before.
I’m pretty excited
I agree! They are really hitting it out of the ballpark with Living Story.
Big thumbs up!
The only time you get suppressed is if you don’t change your message. Change your message to show you’re not a bot and no problemo
Thanks for the feedback everyone and please keep it coming. Personally, I find that one of the hardest parts of being a desginer on GW2 Live is coming to terms with the fact that not every update will please every player. We do our best to deliver appealing content with enough variety to keep as many people as satisfied as possible. And If there’s one thing we can do consistently, it’s improving the experience of said content each time. I think we made some great strides with the Jubilee. I think we have a lot of room to keep growing. But our team isn’t done yet. We’ve got some exciting things coming later this month. Things you’ve never seen in this game before.
But in the mean time, please keep telling us what you’re thinking. We are listening. Not only to what you’re saying but also to what you’re not. The very first living world team actually did the thing some of you have called for. Some 40 or so permanent events were added around the game in our very first content update. They were met with little interest or fanfare. Granted, Halloween may have stolen the show. But those events are still in the game today. I’ve seen very little reaction to them, however, positive or negative. Despite this, there are many events I would still like to add. Many zones and bosses I would love to revisit. As we get better at the living world, I strongly suspect we’ll have room to get around to them as well. Assuming that’s what our players really want. You are all the second half of the collaborative process, so thanks for helping!
Dear Anthony~
Every update will not please every player. Just looking at the wide range of time available, skillsets, preference for group or solo play or instanced or open world content, etc. of your players and you can see that is an impossible expectation and one you should get out of your cute but silly little head immediately.
All you can strive for is to please the most amount of people by providing a good spread of activities. I think you guys are hitting it out of the ballpark with your constant attention to the game and frequent updates and I am appreciative of your innovative approach to the “stale endgame” issue that faces all MMOs.
Also, I am quite intrigued by this “things you’ve never seen in this game before” comment. I love that this game keeps surprising me and look forward to each update. Thanks for all the hard work and keeping things interesting for us
I enjoyed this more than Southsun Survival (though I did like that too).
Why isn’t Aspect Arena in the mini-game rotation?
I imagine since it utilizes the aspect skills which the Zephyrites took with them when they left. Hopefully next time they come to trade with us we’ll get that game back.
Really enjoyed Aspect Arena
LOL!!!
Best thing I read all day. Testing now.
Dulfy has put together a list of the new weapons and as they’ve been dropping, players are reporting where they got them. You might want to keep tabs on her site
The wings are still available on the trading post, ~6g atm.
All the patch details are here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-August-6th-2013/first
You’ve missed some soul- or accountbound items that were tied to events. Some of them are still available on the trading post if they were not bound like the wings from Dragon Bash.
I’ve seen an increase in loading screen time, but everything is rendered properly when I zone in.
Considering the amount of hours I have clocked I play pretty hardcore – Thaumanova just seemed more relevant in this game to me
~600 votes
I imagine it will return with the Zephyrites when they come back to trade with us again.
(I love Aspect Arena)
This ain’t no democracy, it’s a pirate election, YARR!
I saw more people get worked up over this than they do over RL presidential elections.
Excellent way of getting the playerbase invested
4 million votes, a little over half went towards the other fractal.
They said on the stream that it was over 16 million votes.
Ellen Kiel is the people’s princess.
Here’s a good guide:
The serial code will be mailed to whatever email is used to purchase the game. At that point you could use it or give it to your brother to set up an account with that serial code.
Hope that helps!
At least some of us learned something useful. I didn’t know you could click on date either.
Hah, I didn’t know this either!
Welcome, here’s some tips~
The “Deposit Collectibles” button on your bags puts any mats you’ve collected into your bank. You can go to your bank to withdraw them or any crafting station to use them.
Dodge! Avoiding damage in GW2 is as important as dealing it. You may want to rebind your dodge key so you don’t accidentally double tap off a cliff
The trading post is worldwide. It’s 5% to list an item + another 10% when it sells.
Hearts are like bread crumb quests, they lead you into an area but it’s the dynamic events that are the meat of the open world part of the game. Listen to NPCs calling for your help and attention, they are not there for flavor
Explore everywhere, behind waterfalls, caves, behind bushes. You can find whole zones or mini dungeons hidden away. Some dynamic events open portals to hidden areas.
I was missing Ulukk’s Hunger in Dredgehaunt Cliffs.
The Bluestone guide helped me find it.

Here you go, just look at each map and see that all the named sections are uncovered.
Poor Champion Cave Troll. I remember the days when he use to run freely around the fields and farms of Shaemoor, slinging cattle around like so much dirty laundry.
Love the SAB – can’t wait for it to come back
There are like 5 people playing right now, its very hard to do a dungeon.
Heh, I wish. If that were the case I wouldn’t spend most of my time in overflow :-P
Didn’t see Lion’s Arch on my home server all weekend last week. 3+ hour queue to get into WvW on reset night.
They lifted culling at Claw of Jormag a couple weeks ago and this is what we saw:
There are 2.5 million players logging in every week. The game is getting new content every 2 weeks and much has been done to improve the core game and rewards systems.
You have to completely exit the game in order to refresh the list.
You don’t need to complete your Personal Story to participate in any of the Living Story content – they are different story arcs.
- 33 dungeon paths (btw, you cannot purchase dungeon gear off the trading post, check out the dungeon token vendors in Lion’s Arch)
- Fractals of the Mists
- Guild Missions
- WvW
- Living Story (this is huge, new content every 2 weeks. Check your ingame mail for a pointer to the latest content)
- PvP (tournament & battleground style)
- World exploration
- Achievements, crafting, collections
- Create a legendary weapon

I play because it’s ridiculous how much fun I have in this game.
Agree! Completely over the top ridiculous how much fun I have in this game
Exploring and hearts will give you a good bit of xp, but dynamic events give the most.
You can go to other race’s starting areas by:
1. Go to your home city (Rata Sum in your case)
2. Take the asura gate to Lion’s Arch (the main portal hub city)
3. Take any of the asura gates to other cities. I recommend the human area – so go to Divinity’s Reach then south to Queensdale. It is the default most active starting area and has the most events spawning.
Also, make sure to pick up some gathering tools from a vendor along the way, that gives xp also. Good luck and have fun!
