Oh trust me I don’t exactly agree with it considering some of the sustain problems we have. It was even more effective before when staff 4 cleared you and allies considering they designed the class with that and our original sustain options from beta and our deathshroud nerfs and hell even some buffs we got just got nerfed into oblivion. Yet we still have necromancers performing well in all levels of competition. Pretty amazing honestly.

A good necro can drop half the zerg in one bomb, and it ain’t a condi necro.

Are we talking wells here? Because I find most people know better by now than to stand in them. In fact Ive given up on them for the moment aside from well of power for stun break, because it has the nice side effect of area denial too since everyone dances around any well they see.

If your running with an organized group/zerg it’s gets easier to time the cc train with the wells. But that and pve are the only times I would ever recommend using any well other than wop. With that said…. one necro is not dropping anything in a zerg by themselves that is an extreme exaggeration.

@battlerobot not sure if srs. Wurm is good but mm necro makes a horrible roamer to me. Horrible in wvw all around imo.

But the real prob is it being totally passive and braindead, 1 random bleed and you’re feared for 3+ secs for 3k random damage.

Nightmare runs and Reaper’s Protection are fine, and will remain fine after the rune change.

without a healing class this game does not make people group up as other games. A lot of people solo Q . When you solo Q, a lot is out of your control. To be honest I fell I play better solo Q compared to be in a premade. When you are solo you feel like you can’t make mistakes, the whole match depend on you play as good as you can. Where in a premade you can screw up here and there knowing your team-mates will pick up the slack. My solo win rate is barely 50% last season and my gp win rate is about 80%. I really don’t think the gp Q me should rank higher than the solo Q me. But then again no one cares about LB

One possible solution could be to put in a game per day limit . Something like the first 6 games you play every day count toward LB and the rest don’t matter.

Please don’t tell me your attempting to blame matchmaking on not having the holy trinity…..

No one thinks necros are weak in wvw or pvp. Just pve.

You have an easy time against condi theives and mesmers which is what you see in wvw roaming. They have little condi clear you have a ton including transfers, only takes them being visible for s second to hit with dagger 4 and staff 4. Although that has very little to do with GWEN meta as that is more of a power necro anyway with wells.

You are right, I have no idea what I’m talking about, I was so silly to think it was the fear proc that people used nightmare runes for, it never occurred to me that condition damage or duration would be beneficial to a condi necro. That must be why so many other classes use nightmare runes on their condi build.

They use it for the very same reason a necro would. A necro just gets more mileage out of it because of a few traits. The only real requirement to use the rune is an abundance of condition variety. Necros, mesmers, thiefs, and engineers all can deal multiple amounts of different conditions with ease. All other classes have less access to this variety, and would make more sense to specialize the duration for one or two conditions. But if they are going out slotting nightmare runes for an auto cc every 90 seconds, then yes, I am bold enough to say they are doing it wrong. You could replace the sixth part of the rune entirely and it would still be worth taking if your a necro, mesmer, thief, or engineer.

Dunno why but it hasn’t let me post for a few days….. is it really that difficult for you to admit the 6th bonus is the main reason necros take it…… if you can’t then I dont know what to tell you.

@rosicky I’m sure more people would play in the tournaments if they had time. I know I would be trying to play in them if they weren’t conveniently only on days where I have to work every kittening time. WvW is easy just log on hit wvw and your in pvp takes a little more setup and I think people are a little skittish since they can’t just hide in the zerg in pvp.

I don’t think I have ever been melted by a necro then again if im not on my necro I go straight for their one and just cc it and stop it healing. if only my team mates wouldn’t attack it when spectral skills are up then it would be even easier

The only class I’ve seen them melt in PvP is thief. I play the class occasionally and have only enjoyed them in WvW as a support.

Necros can melt theives, mesmers, rangers, guardians, other necros, engineers, elementalists. The only thing we really can’t melt is a warrior. Not that we don’t do well against them just can’t melt them quickly, unless lich.

No, boon removal is not the primary focus of Terrormancer builds. It is, however, a secondary focus. Condition pressure is the primary, but boon stripping, especially removing Stability, is why you use a Necro over a condition Engineer.

The thing with Dark Path is that its a skill that is relatively hard to land. One of the more effective ways to land the skill is by using fear right before but doing this your wasting a fear just to land one of your hits. Dark Path even when using fear before can still miss the target if in a team fight and an enemy teammate gets in the way which is more common then not. Unyielding Blast is the only sure way to get around this problem but my point is from an outside POV (I don’t play terrormancer too much) Lingering Curse seems like it fits the overall focus of the build a bit more then Path of Corruption.

How is unyielding blast helping you hit with dark path?

i know there are 1,000 other posts like it but whatever i need to vent. I love gw2, and i really love (or atleast loved) the GW2 pvp. However after the most recent patch i have come to a crossroads. It seems i loose every match i enter now which is an odd feeling for me since before i had a pretty decent game ratio. Really? Right after the guy says he doesn’t need a build you post a build, not a really great build either. Very lacking in condi duration. This is basically a tpvp build in full dire…. with no stunbreaks and the worst signet in existence.

If you are looking for guides I’m not sure there is much in the way of condi necro guides, some guy named methane gas has a few videos as does another named Holl. But if you add me in game I’d be happy to help.

I’ve played all those, as far as I could tell all the games suffer from the same things those games just have a larger population so you “hear” about it more while still only experiencing it about the same amount.

I’d really like to see how much my experience differs from others’. We are using the new matchmaking system to get even matches and predictions are cast by the same system to allocate points towards the leaderboards, thus my point is very valid. As soon as you can determine a factor that influences the outcome of matches in a significant way, regardless of what it may be, the factor can and should be used to adjust the matchmaking and the predictions.

Now you could argue that adjusting the system to account for a particular class is not the right way to go, because it may or may not change constantly. Though it is better than not accounting for it at all, if it impacts the system considerably.

Everything you said could be legitimate. Or it could just be a sneaky way of saying engis are op. If you were to go as far as looking at the win percentage with engis I would also request looking at the teams the engis faced…. since that comp would matter as well seeing how this game has hard and soft counters…. well I guess you would have to look even more into it…. you would have to go all the way into builds since it’s really the builds that counter each other not the class.

Wouldn’t it be more of a learning experience helping you to “get good son” if you ar least attempted to continue? The answer to that question is yes it would. So the answer to your question is yes that is ‘poisonous’. It’s along the same lines of an older brother and a younger brother playing basketball together the older one is winning because he is more experienced and taller so the younger one can either quit like a little whiny brat or he can try hard, enjoy the game for what it is (a game….) The younger brother that tried is going to have more fun sooner than the one that just quit.

regardless of that, match prediction is wrong, when the match prediction thinks the 4 player team has a much higher chance to win the match, and the 4 players are penalized for losing the match.

You are either leaving one of your nodes outnumbered or run the risk of the opposing team “stealing” svanir typically with a theif. It’s better to take the node win the team fights and then if you wipe the opposing team it gives you a little window to take out the bosses if you feel like it.

d/d ele isn’t a profession, it’s a build.
Almost every power necro uses staff regardless and indeed once you get hit you either choose to fight for a little and run or keep fighting (in the case you’re an engineer).

What you said is that a cele rifle engineer(build) isn’t necessarily counter by power necro(build too, which i’m not questioning)…and that’s indeed beyond the point.

By the way, my skill at playing the game doesn’t matter: i’ve always been comparing two builds played with equal skill and it’s clear that in such an impossible enviroment (as you’d need to clone somebody) a condi necro would have the upper hand against any engineer.

Now i wonder, why do you keep calling builds rather than professions? ò.ò

Because that’s how it works, it’s build vs build not just profession vs profession.

D/w is more effective as a powermancer in pvp than d/d.
