Actually, you’re making a kittenumption that there’s only 2 episodes remaining, just because we had a break after 4 episodes and they called it ‘mid-season’ doesn’t necessarily mean there are 4 more left, there could be more…and it has been stated(the A.net statement has been copied in other threads that they didn’t want to tell us how many episodes remain), though I doubt we’ll kill him within the next 2 episodes. I seriously doubt there’s only 2 episodes remaining in the season either.
The problem is that if there is more than 2 episodes left that would basically mean that we will have yet another break between episode 8 and episode 9 seeing as ArenaNet usually (and very likely also will this year) takes a holiday break during the Christmas and New Years holidays. Which would mean that a potential episode 9 would not come until middle/end of January at the earliest.
And? Season 1 lasted from January 2013 until March 2014, with plenty of breaks for seasonal content.
Has anet ever explicitly stated they care to put out more content for more dedicated players? Serious question here, I am all for it but the more I play gw2 the more I feel that the Devs have come to the conclusion that;
A) They are the smallest demographic of players
B) They demand the most and hardest to please
C) They are the quickest to complain and stir the controversy pot
D) They burn through content the fastestAll of these kinda spell out a why bother situation to me.
Just asking and I wish anet would say something of their intentions because if they don’t care to make content for dedicated players so that these players can move on and find something to satisfy them.
you forgot E and E is the most important to any company
E) They are the largest source of additional Spending. That means spending extra Money on the Product or future Products.
On the contrary. Hardcore players tend for farm for rewards. It’s the casuals who are more likely just to buy them with cash.
Pay some closer attention, and you’ll see that what you’ve said isn’t actually how they’re portrayed.
Even if it were, no, I definitely wouldn’t be bothered.
Not only shield skins are fugly, they also are quite useless.
Shield should be removed :v
I disagree. There are a lot of great shield skins in the game, and I wish I could use them more in PvE.
And they’re quite usable on all 3 classes in PvP.
I can’t find it in options. Perhaps it will unlock when I level up?
It’s possible. There were some changes made to this sort of thing a few months ago, and they affect completely new accounts more than old ones creating new characters. If the bar hasn’t appeared by the time you get to level 15, then come back and let us know
Its been approximately eight months in the real world since the destruction of LA. Tyria uses a 2 real world hour day/night cycle. This means that eight months in the real world is approximately 96 months in game.
So it has been approximately eight years in game since LA was all but destroyed by Scarlet.
It doesn’t work like that. It’s still 1327 AE, the same year in which LA was destroyed. While there is a day/night cycle in-game, that’s more or less just for ambiance. The Living Story (and therefore"the present day") progresses at pretty much the same rate as real world time.
new theory:
what if the egg is needed to free rytlock somehow?
What if…. Rytlock is inside the egg? :o
Like, we know he’s totally being reborn, one way or another. Why not literally?
I disagree. The problem with karma at present is that there’s already far too much of it about. This makes it difficult to introduce good karma sinks that don’t break other parts of the economy. You want to remove one of the only existing karma sinks.
Yeah, I get that legendaries cost a lot of karma, but most (all?) of that is in obsidian shards, which can be acquired in a variety of other ways. I think Anet’s done enough to reduce the burden of farming karma for a legendary for newer players.
The usual concern about karma gear being unsalvagable is that it makes it impossible to recover upgrades (runes, sigils, etc) without an excessively expensive gem store item.
Ah, the melee meta post? I read through that thing.
Yeah, the forums are like this. There’s a general crowd that vehemently defends keeping everything exactly the same. Problem is, they aren’t necessarily concerned with proving themselves right, so they’ll result to troll logic and petty insults first.
Your story isn’t unique. In fact, it is quite a common occurrence on the forums: someone has an issue with how something is done in the game, they go to the forums to talk about it, then they get yelled at by “vets” and “leets” insisting that nothing is wrong until they leave. Of course, the vets and leets bounce between near identical threads on the issue and keep insisting nothing is wrong in spite of so many complaints.
Whew! Thank you for the good response. I was worried that I would get more trolling XD. Maybe I should just stay away from the profession balance and dungeon forums… and avoid sensitive issues (like any flaws I find in the game… cough bugs cough). Again, thank you for the great response!
uhhh, “good response”? Blood Red Arachnid made a post blithely dismissing anyone who disagrees with a suggestion to change the game, as ‘“vets” and “leets”’ who all use ‘troll logic and petty insults.’
If there are, as he stated, other near identical threads on the same subject, then new posters should continue those discussions instead of starting new threads. Making new threads about the same old things, and demanding new answers each time, only serves to annoy posters who have had to deal with the same arguments a dozen times before. Admittedly, the lack of a working forum search feature exacerbates this problem, but there have been plenty of cases of someone making a thread on the same topic as one halfway down the same page.
The fact that a “flaw” is self-evident to you, does not mean other people see it as such. You come to the forums for a discussion, then expect to run into other people with opinions. If you’re met with an overwhelming amount of negative feedback, it might be that what you’ve suggested is simply a bad idea.
I hope not. I definitely want more emotes and dances, but they should be unlockable for the account, rather than tied to an annoying item.
9 toons.
8 lvl 80s.
5 with 100% map completion.
Am I the only one annoyed by this?
It’s certainly not a complaint I’ve seen before.
Or he forgot to put the bag into the tea after drinking the hot water as is?
No, he buys a cup with a cover, gets to his office, opens it and sees that it’s just plain water. Oops, the lunch brake is over!
No, he buys a proper cup of tea, takes it with him, and forgets to drink it.
I believe you can go to Heart of the Mists (or is it WvW?) to equip an offhand before it becomes available normally.
Acceptance- At the end of the depression, we realise that theres nothing we can do about the lack of substansial content that we get. We accept it, we proceed with our daily GW2 lives, wether that is stacking in corners in dungeons to get our daily gold, go into broken 4 v 5soloque matches where people play imbalanced builds, or go head to toe against a gate in World v World. We accept we dont get nice things.
You’re failing at this last part. The whole point of acceptance is that you accept you have lost something (grief requires loss), and then move on. Continuing to play is not moving on.
Well its only one line, but its showing Caithe.
https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/535477616426643456So who’s pain is she going to bear? Gleams? The egg’s? Faolin’s? Someone else?
I’m wondering if it’ll be some sort of “drawing the pain/corruption into herself” sort of thing. Like Faolain did when Caithe herself was corrupted/poisoned. It would make sense, thematically.
But yes, the question is, from who? The egg? The Pale Tree? The other Tree? Mordy?
Because one of their profession mechanics is “Steal.”
Because anet need to make money somehow ..
That’s nice and understandable, BUT the problem is, people want to earn things by playing the game, not by throwing money to the toilet (that’s pretty much what keyes are) and relying on RNG. It’s not very cool to throw all the cool stuff to gemstore, while others will be stuck with one armor skin for next three months.
Play game. Earn gold. Buy on tp.
I think an open-world elder dragon (killed on schedule: 3 times daily) would also be underwhelming, if in a different way.
If EotM were really the most popular content in GW2 (which is something only Anet knows), then I’m sure they’ve already thought about making more content like it.
Antara just dropped some knowledge on you guys. Too bad the GW2 fanboys prefer to pay more money/GRIND for gem store skins instead. Whatever sense that makes..
It’s not like it’s a binary choice. Even if there’s an expansion, there’ll still be Black Lion skins.
If you would decide to give us a fixed price or any other way to obtain them
You can buy them from other players on the TP. That’s the other way to obtain them – they can be traded.
I already get a headache from people writing “:)” or “)” after everything. It’s kinda like saying “Look, I am happy, do not misunderstand me!” after your every sentence. It’s annoying overexposure.
Subtlety is a virtue.
It’s not like saying “I am happy”… it’s like smiling while talking. Emoticons are to convey the non-verbal parts of spoken conversation, in a medium that only allows text. Of course, they can be overused… just like people can be overly emotive while they’re speaking.
I thought it was pretty fun, the one time I did it for the achievement. But I doubt I’ll go back much, unless showing a friend for the first time.
I dont support this because it leads to people not being able to express their emotions anymore.
I dont want my kids to show me an emoji on their smart phone, when i ask how the are doing.I’m not sure how that works. I just don’t understand. Emoticons are supposed to add to the conversation. Why is “I’m fine” better than “I’m fine
”? Especially if the first one can be miss-interpreted as something bad? If you add a simple smile, you can change the tone of your entire sentence.
Could you explain please?
While emoticons are useful in textual communication, I don’t really understand how a yellow smily face is any better than a colon next to a bracket : )
So, no, to OP.
OP’s idea is probably good, though it hasn’t bothered me much. I usually get mail from someone I know well, or from someone I’ve seen around at that time (and therefore know the name of that toon).
Please no…
It’s already annoying how ppl can see your account name in parties and if they follow you. (I’m not bothered if they can see it after mutual friending)
The thought just makes me paranoid and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. And no. I got nothin to hide, I just don’t like the lack of privacy/ control over who follows us or who can see our account name.
I wouldn’t mind the feature if it was between mutual friends, but if some random person mails me and I mail em back they shouldn’t be able to know my account name.
This is just a small thing I dislike bout GW2..Hope I’m not coming off as rude or anything, It’s just something that’s always been a thorn in my side.
You realise everyone can see your account name right now…?
That would make sense with the Breach and all.
A simpler solution would be to have acquired geodes/crests, etc… enter the wallet anyway, but have an “item acquired” thing on the right side of the screen just like when you acquire coin or items now. If it works with gold already, that means they already have the system in place to do it with other currencies. Also, if all currencies went to a single place – the wallet – people would know to look there for them. If they add a new one, just put a tooltip in when the player acquires their first new token, saying “hey! you just got one of ______! Use these to purchase items at special vendors located here and here.”
Considering we do already get that for karma, I don’t think this’d be much work to set up. However, I don’t think a time-limited item popup is a good way to introduce a new item, especially at times where players are concentrating on the event in front of them. A tooltip that comes up when players open their inventory introducing the new currency is better, but if they dismiss it because they need something from their pockets quickly and don’t have time to look at the wallet, and that tooltip is gone for good. Hopefully they read it (they totally didn’t).
Ideally you’d have something that lets players look at what they’ve found during downtime. There’s a few ways this could be done – a glow on the wallet status bar in the inventory, a marker on the hero panel much like heroes get for available trait points, have currencies drop into the inventory until players consume them and move them into the wallet.
If that were an issue, you could simply have the currency sometimes drop in openable bags – like “Bags of Coins.” When opened, it deposits a number of currency into the wallet. Player looks in their inventory, sees a dozen “Bags of Bandit Crests” and is suitably aware.
Very nice post, OP. Just another high point for Greed Wars 2.
You HAVE to realize that this is a norm for everyone, except for the very few and fortunate. The reasoning behind the low drop rates is that if more exotics and t6 mats dropped, the more people would sell those on the TP, and the more gold they would make. The more gold they make, the easier it becomes to purchase gems without RL money. This is a REAL big no-no in Greed Wars 2, as it takes money away from ANet.
Not very surpising, your results are. Nice though, are your efforts to track such things.
But, in the grand scheme of things, the fans will rage on and make the findings a part of elaborate feature or some such thing, that makes the game all that more exciting to play, so the findings may be for naught.
Selling on the tp removes gold from the economy. So, the more stuff sold on the tp, the less gold that can be converted into gems.
If there were a high drop rate of (currently expensive) exotics, they would be worth a lot less than they are now. The people selling them on the tp wouldn’t make as much gold for themselves as you think.
In addition to the already mentioned:
Originally, you got one trait point (using current style: 5 old trait points = 1 current trait point) at lvl 15 and then every 5 levels until 80. Now, you get your first trait point at level 30, and every 6 levels until lvl 66, then 2 trait points every 6 levels. Meaning you get your trait points a lot later in the leveling process. This makes leveling less fun, and makes it a lot harder to try out different builds and playstyles until you’re actually level 80.
Also, the level at which traits unlocked has been moved back. Originally, you unlocked Adept at level 11 (well, 15), Master at lvl 40, and Grandmaster at lvl 60. Now, it’s Adept at 30, Master at 60, and Grandmaster not until 80. Which, again, reduces or removes the ability to access important parts of builds until you have finished leveling.
If you hadn’t noticed we are opening it up as we go further in the story.
I’m new, so no, I actually didn’t notice, but they are steadily increasing the map count right?
Slowly, but yes. Not that it’s particularly small or anything – it only seems that way because we can see past the edges of the explorable areas.
Yep, I’d buy it (assuming it wasn’t too expensive).
You don’t have to put up with Tybalt?
:p
Right now we’re sort of splitting out things you can “spend” between three different places: Your inventory, your bank, and your wallet.
At its core, we need to decide on one of these to compliment your inventory and call it good. As we’re continuing to introduce more items like the geodes and bandit “hello my name is” crests, this has obviously become even more of an issue
Ultimately, we either need to let you spend materials from your bank directly at vendors so you don’t need to keep them in your inventory (and then make geodes/crests materials) OR continue to make the wallet larger and larger. Or option #3 we haven’t considered yet you might think of in this suggestion forum!
Either way, we’re aware of the need and will address it “when it’s ready™”.
My vote: anything that is used only as a currency needs to be put in the wallet.
Some people do not have room in their bank for it and some people have more than one stack of geodesic or lockpicks. Which is why there are threads asking for it to be put in the wallet. If bank tabs were usable for this for 99% of people, we wouldne have as many threads on this with complete support of the idea of them being added to the wallet.
Agreed.
If something can be used only as a currency, it goes in the wallet.
If something can be used as a currency and for something else (eg. crafting, consumable), those belong in the bank/inventory.
That’s the only logical way of splitting things up. If there are concerns about the wallet becoming too big… well, don’t introduce so many new currencies.
Do the events downscale in enough time that it matters? I doubt it downscales any faster whether the player stays lying dead or WPs. So that part isn’t the problem. The problem is that, while the event is still [as highly upscaled as it was] either way, living players actually contribute, while dead or absent ones don’t.
I don’t think it downscales at all at the specific events since there is only 1 Champ
and existing mobs don’t scale down.
In the early days of 3-Headed Wurm, when there was that scaling bug, some people on ts were using some not-particularly-legal program thing to determine the health. Which was definitely going down as well as up. That could be seen by anyone, anyway, since “super-burns” occurred at later burn phases.
This means that it must be possible for a single mob to downscale.
It’s sad how lazy people are that they can’t manage to equip a speedboost, if they’re going on one of these apparently-extremely-common long runs across an entire continent. Traveling simply isn’t a problem in this game: you run very fast compared to most games (in terms of distance needed to be traveled), even at base speed, and then there are WPs and asura gates and so on.
Mounts for aesthetic reasons, sure.
Mounts for speedboosts, no.
Do the events downscale in enough time that it matters? I doubt it downscales any faster whether the player stays lying dead or WPs. So that part isn’t the problem. So use it. The exotic crafting backpacks (if upgraded with a jewel) have the highest stats for backpacks behind ascended.
There no reason you couldn’t have leveled crafting without making the backpack, either. And if you hover over it in the crafting panel, it clearly says Account Bound on Acquire. Seems to me like you simply weren’t paying attention.
I’d definitely like to see more emotes in game. I’d also like, in a lot of cases, female emote animations to be available to males, and vice versa.
I don’t know. It would be nice for the mini to be always at your side, but on the other hand, there’s something I weirdly like about how they’re constantly running behind trying to catch up on tiny legs…
It’s also kinda fun to be running behind a zerg among all the minis.
I think it’s reasonable that there should be no combat in cities at all. Make city ambients into green mobs.
General Morgahn Rum
1. It’s a game? /shrug
2. Don’t “prioritise” anything except doing what’s fun.
3. Race is chiefly aesthetic, and has little to no impact on gameplay. Pick whatever race you think looks best.
4. Honestly, probably follow the little arrow at the top right of your screen for a bit. It’ll try and show you stuff. You definitely don’t have to do follow it, and I strongly urge you to run off and explore wherever your fancy takes you, but it’s helpful for completely new players. For the first little while or so.
5. Take your time, don’t feel compelled to do anything in any specific order. You can come back and fully enjoy it later. GW2 is an MMO, which means you can play with other people! :o Find some friendly people with whom you get along, and who enjoy doing similar things to you. Play with them and the game will be more fun.
Do you think it would go over well now or better in the spring?
I’m happy to ask the team, but I imagine they’d want to schedule it properly.
It still is spring here in the southern hemisphere. Good enough excuse to release them now
You just have to go with a name that is really obscure.
Ascalonian Peasant. He was my favourite.
Please keep the conversation respectful, even if you strongly disagree with someone else.
Thank you.
I think the main problem is that we have a new mounts thread every week, and people are tired of having to rehash the same arguments over and over and over again. Why aren’t they all just routinely merged?
Is anyone forcing you to read? The thread clearly says Mounts just ignore it if you already know what it is all about.
I’m making a suggestion that would hopefully help make the forums a more constructive place. With all the mount threads in one thread, new posters would be able to easily read all the arguments that have gone before, rather than having to start from scratch in each one.
I’d also point out that moderators are closing mount threads because “there are quite a number of threads on mounts already” (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mounts-14/first#post4547787). Consistently merging the threads would almost certainly be better, since the forum doesn’t have a working search function.

I’m so tired of these silly arguments of why we can’t go to Cantha. The most common are:
1) “But… the deep sea dragon!!!11”
My answer: we have airships now, genius. Why not send a small fleet of airships to Cantha?
2) “We have no reason to go to Cantha!”
My answer: No? Humanity is going to kitten, all hiding in their city while getting hammered by centaurs, bandits, and and my barber’s grandma.
I think it would be a good idea to re-establish contact with a continent that is known to be controlled entirely by humans, and may have technology that far exceeds anything on continental Tyria. The dragon is causing huge storms, hurricanes and eveything. A storm is never limited to the area BELOW the surface. If you got some nasty thunder going on there
I would love to see some evidence for these “huge storms, hurricanes and eveything”. I’ve never seen Anet say anything like that. Bubbles it a water dragon. Fly high enough and you’ll be fine.
What makes you think Bubbles can’t fly? And doesn’t have a bunch of dragon champions who can also fly?
