Mesmer is my least played class, but I don’t see any reason to play anything else (even thief), until it’s rebalanced.
Note that I just want to see some tweaks to the mantra of distraction power block wombo combo. It can one shot celestial and anything squishier right now, all off an instant cast 1200 range stun.
However they choose to balance, please don’t nerf more than one thing at a time.

For engineer, i saw that now we have 5 really good lines. I am not saying that they are equals, but i find all 5 viable. Ele too is really strong and i think it has at least 4 lines really good ( i don’t love fire line but perhaps is a personal feeling )

I guess it’s a shock to most people that they lost the free stats from the trait’s. Damage might be high but no one is forcing you to go glass, build more defensively, change amulet, play with builds. People will stop going all glass when a new build will get discovered that counters certain speccs.
Let it rest for a bit. And as for Anet, wee NEED more frequent updates like this. I know it’s important to take it easy and change a few things at a time, but you guys took too freaking long. See how many people are happy that they have new stuff to play around. It should be standard as classes to receive fixes and or interesting changes more frequently.

People are running zerk because this patch has made them more fun to play. I’ ve already prepared extremely viable celestial builds (on several classes), not to mention clerics guard is still reletively unexplored in this meta.

Here’s the suggestion I made yesterday- to have a missed backstab lower the amount of remaining stealth by 1 second. Revealed is way too punishing if the thief is up against players who arm’t just going to stand around when he stealths.

Please make the Ranger off hand training range increase baseline. Dagger, torch and axe OH are horrible without it. I think this has been an oversight.
It’s a WS master trait. The new skirmishing GM should work nicely with torch also.
That trait increases your condi damage, not the range or bonfire radius.

How would you achieve such diversity? Do you just balance everything around Marauder or Celestial amulet?
Ok take engi in the update. Clearly a lot of love has gone into it this balance pass (which is no bad thing; if only other classes got as interesting changes).
As chaith was saying last night, there are so many viable build options for it now. This has come about through a multitude of intresting trait lines built for PvP, coupled with utilities/weapons which complement different amulets and traits (differently!) and don’t suck.
Customising stats doesn’t help achieve this on other classes. All traits/weapons/skills need to be brought out of obscurity on other classes, and just achieving this would be way more intresting than PvE stat customisation.
Also on several classes rabid, carrion, berserker, and even clerics aren’t off the table with this balance pass.

Sorry, but that statement is FALSE and the reasoning for it isn’t valid. I really hate seeing people spout it off.
When you have the extremes defined (which we do), then nothing can be more powerful than an extreme because it falls between them. If you see builds arise which are too good, they’re not too good because of the stat allocation system; they’re too good because of existing abilities. The problem you’ve created is that you have more viable builds which need balanced. That’s a good problem to have.
You see extremes, I see roles.
Multiple roles, and/or multiple trait lines to achieve them would be a huge step forward for the competitive game.

Also making lava font tie into the GM was silly. There’s a bit of synergy, but it’s a hefty nerf on balance.
If they’re taking out 300 power, there needs to be some compensation in the master/GM tier..

It must of been a decision at a design/marketing level to do away with the whole time gated prestige thing. This is one of the few things left from a PvP perspective..
But as someone that has this stuff perhaps I’m bias..
Still the way ‘challenger of the arena’ gets lorded around, sometimes the absence of prestige makes these artifacts over appreciated.
I still like it in online games though , it can add up to a history, of progression alongside development, not just an endless beta working towards a product which is the current package.

At least immob stacking was clearly to make the game easier. This change just removes a mechanic that works fine at all levels.
So far I’ve read ‘but GS will be OP’ and ‘no more rocket boot superspeed’. You realise they could just make movement skills independant of superspeed right?
And to all the aspiring GS warriors out there, it’ll be a nerf to whirlewind attack (which does more damage when chilled – another feature that will be removed).
At least we got some nerf thief threads up, GG community.

Yeah, this assesment is pretty much spot on.
…they should make more classes field builds that can enforce the meta then. We don’t want 5 man cele teams running around spamming skills without being able to be punished.
The problem, that never seems to be presented in the forums, is that if you want to do that role (burst) on any other class you can’t even with a zerker ammy. It’s because the other classes inherit all the harp-a-darp mechanics from their more bunker orientated versions, which are useless for a zerk role where getting hit means death against good teams.
The exception to this is medi guards, because they also have plenty of hard mitigation, and a sustain mechanic that doesn’t gain much from sustain stats. Basically

Condition Cleanse (although arguable tied to hard mitigation also)

Hard Mitigation

evade
range/LoS (negated by thieves)
Zerker classes only want and need hard mitigation, but some classes just don’t have it. Its not a balance issue, it’s a design issue. I would type more but nobody reads this stuff anyway, w/e.

are we going to have a mes/thief referendum every year? Perhaps they should redisign necro/ranger to deal with them, as those are clearly the most flawed classes in the game. (Just buffing either makes them cheesy faceroll)..
PS: as flawed I mean in terms of design , not balance.

For people that play PvP only, the rank system won’t have even been glanced at for years.
It’s a non feature. Many of us had multiple rank 80 accounts the day they implemented it. But that discussion has long past. Just accept there is no progression system in PvP beyond an introductory 80 ranks.
If you want a reward play some tournaments. You won’t get a title, but minis/gems are very generously awarded.

I still don’t think using MMR directly is a good idea for a leaderboard, but I fully understand why people would want it: It is perceived as a better indicator of skill most of the time.
Here is why it doesn’t work well:
Random jumps: Glicko is used to make the best match possible. It does this by adjusting quickly which can result in very large jumps up and down before settling.
No Decay: We can’t decay MMR directly, which causes the problem of people sitting inactive at the top of the leaderboard.Our best bet is to create a system that lives side-by-side with the Glicko MMR. The original system does its thing and makes good matches while the new one can be a new algorithm, or a filtered glicko algorithm to give us more friendly numbers without negatively affecting matchmaking.

I agree. The rating to determine matchmaking should have more swing factor than the rating of visual leaderboards.
I also think this difference in algorithmic treatment should be most noticeable in ‘volatile’ matchmaking rating such as for new or returning players, and should be less distinguishable in nature once a few (days) of time has been spent using the matchmaking system.
By separating leaderboard and matchmaking rating, you could also produce an algorithm that only factors in a win/loss if the player enters into the queue solo, creating a (solo) leaderboard of sorts. Just a thought.

On a broader level I’m not a fan of the way the game has been balanced the past year.
It’s more ‘balanced’ per say than ever, however lightning/air procs have vanillafied glass cannons, with doom/geo removing any need for condition-focused weapons. Combine this with a celestial amulet and hybrid or standardized burst is the only way to play the game now. And both are heavily reliant on passive mechanics.
Just my two cents. There’s too much noise on the forums for a considered discussion to impact on game development IMO anyhow.. oh well…

It can be difficult to determine when exactly a llama last passed out.
Some Llamas wake up during transit, and need to be treated again with a tranquilizring agent. This is primarily to prevent them waking other llamas in the same cargo hold.
Researchers at York University have found that, as well as the experience of capture and shipment itself, the use of such powerful drugs to incapacitae llamas for transit can have a permanent effect on their faculties, reporting much higher rates of depression amongst adult llamas. Studies also indicate that the experience is linked to early onset arthritis amongst younger llamas, however this may be tied to the neutering process being undertaken during adolescence.

You know that D/D eles are being pushed out of the meta because of shoutbows right? Because shoutbows do everything better with arguably less skill required.
There is no meta. There is about 3 teams in the world who try hard this game. And then 50 other people who take it semi serious.
As for shoutbow, yeh its the easiest spec in game. Even i can play it ok
Ignore the OP, bad suggestion is bad (although de-braindead-ifying shoutbows is a noble goal).
