I know a lot of people would like mounts.
But the numerous waypoints that are in game I think really make them redundant.
Personally, I’d much rather Anet spend their time on other things (like fixing broken profession skills/trait, and numerous broken events).
For any melee based skill auto-attack rotation to limit your ability to dodge for all/part of it is just ridiculous.
It should be fixed.
no thanks. duel spec is not needed.
I agree. It’s certainly not needed at all.
It would need some tweaking, but If it was done and balanced correctly they should then also allow any profession to use any type of armour.
It would be a great addition to the game.
I agree.
At the great hunt map when you begin to play a norn race the area is quite misty. It would be great if that was added.
I think the reward from killing champions is about right.
And I totally disagree with any notion of getting greater rewards for soloing a champion mob. It’s an mmo isn’t it? Community involvement should be fostered wherever and whenever possible.
It’s pretty clear in this game (at least it should be to everyone) that if you’re going into any fight with the hope of ‘loot’ you’re sorely mistaken about how the mechanics seem to work. ‘Good loot’ drops very rarely. It should be seen as a nice bonus and not expected in any way. I can’t see how this is so hard to understand.
It’s just horribly, horribly imbalanced on a 1 v 1 scale, or the like, at the moment. Very disappointing.
It’s been ~160 years since the norn were lead south by some of the spirits of the wild. To put into perspective norn have been in their current location longer than Lion’s Arch and Divinity’s Reach have been in existence.
I think it still is a bit of a theme, to some at least. As Buddhakeks talks about though; returning home is intimately tied with the great challenge of defeating Jormag, more so than taking back their ‘homeland’. After all no norn are still alive (to knowledge) that actually lived in the Far Shiverpeaks.
Wait… there are races OTHER THAN norn?! Absurd! Norn are all I can play!
laughs
I wonder if the other races seems to elicit the same amount of passion among their players?
In addition to the developers comments on GW1, and what that implied and almost misrepresented, there also been talk about that example in the general lore section, and it has largely been dismissed. If I find the link I’ll show you.

I don’t know that, no one does one way or the other or else this thread wouldn’t exist. That’s why one can only go off, a) what’s written in the official GW2 lore, and b) what’s evident in-game. There’s no substantial evidence I know/read/seen to support it, only strong suggestive evidence to counter it. Their cultures are so very different. And if you read back to my original post you’ll see that i never said it was impossible for them to occur, only that it almost certainly would not happen.
Of course, everyone’s free to think whatever they want.
So, if you want to think norn and humans have sexual relationships, you go right ahead. It’s clear some have made up their mind irrespective of what’s evident (or lack there of) out there.
Shrugs
(edited by Reverielle.3972)
Exactly. But if they find someone worthy to boink, they’d do it. As I was saying all along.
They won’t, not outside their own race. Why is that so hard to understand?
To understand one can’t think like a human, one can’t think like we do in the real world, we must think like a norn. Most people – understandably – approach it from completely the wrong perspective.
(edited by Reverielle.3972)
Culturally as a whole? Yes.
Individually? No.
Any relationship other than sexual is fine. The reality is that the cultures are so different when you look into them that anyone remotely adhering to the game lore with their character would almost certainly not let them be in any lasting cross-race relationship. There’s just too many fundamental differences.
Sound to me you’re just too prudish to admit it.
I’m sure Norns would boink anyone they found worthy.
I’m sorry that’s not the answer you’re looking for. But, I didn’t write the lore, it is what it is.
I’m mature enough though to deal with it and develop my character with it’s bounds.
I don’t think the ‘skimpiness’ of the armour is in question here at all. I personally love the set. It’s just that the leggings are falling off. They’re so low it looks pretty silly in comparison to the rest of that armour-set; which is well fitting, stylish, and when worn really looks like your character’s ready to head out and deliver justice to some dragon-kissers.
Just a product of another male designer I guess…?

I almost agree with everything you’ve said.
However; you say all that and then give an image with a human-centric background?! Raven’s Wings!
It’s a great shot of yours, but your character should be out and up in the mountains where there’s snow underfoot and the air’s crisp and fresh!
Here let me show you…
(edited by Reverielle.3972)
I agree. It seems a little odd.
I don’t think guardians should get them if they come into the game, it doesn’t really fit to me.
Warrior & Ranger would be my two picks.
tbh if the mobs keeps follow you you have highest agro, and as far i know they use the agro system for loot, at leas they use if for rewards on events
I know there’s a lot of speculation about, but I haven’t seen any actual official proof of such, or any other loot mechanic in-game.
Sure, why not, suggest another system to make a few feel good about themselves whilst a vast majority more feel bad, which in turn fragments the community as opposed to bringing it together.
Yes!
Originally our guild was hoping that if someone was a Commander we would be able to form larger squads up to 20 in size for PvE and WvW. Very disappointed that this was not the case at all, even 10 would be nice!
Perhaps that’s something Anet could look at. It’s an MMO after all, I don’t think there should be such barriers in place to stop people enjoying and playing together.
Makes sense to me.
Yes! I would love this! Especially as someone who has a character that relies on their food as one of their only sources of healing.
I can’t see it happening though, Anet generally seems to be against anything ‘automatic’ happening for you/your character. And I can sort of understand that too, I guess. Still it would be great.
Everquest 2 in general has a lot of wonderful features that I wish other MMOS would look at. This is a little off-topic but; it’s probably best the MMO there ever has been.
I agree!
Additionally it shouldn’t pop up whilst your character’s in the middle of a timed jumping puzzle! That’s most off-putting.
Alternatively have it pop up, but not in the middle of your screen.
Personally I hope they will never increase it further.
I agree with the consensus here about shields, they need to be improved so they’re balanced with other off-hand skills.
Open world dungeons would probably be the same as meta events—a mindless zerg. I don’t think open world dungeons would ever offer as much coordination or team work than a dungeon would, because anyone can just join in.
Not all ‘meta events’ are so. Open world Dungeons are already in the game, most people just don’t know where/how to find them.
And yes, if done poorly they will just become a ‘mindless zerg’. Most of them at the moment are like this. It’s like anything that’s done, it has to be done well or it shouldn’t even be attempted.
Doesn’t matter what gear you have, if you don’t know how to dodge/react to the enemy you’re still going to have your character on their behind.
I’m not sure what the Fractal is called, but it’s the one where the Svanir are, and you’re up in the mountains and need to be near fires to keep warm. The night time in that one is wonderful.
Inspections are a neat thing. I didn’t realize people in GW were so afraid of a little competition……
Such ‘competition’ as you call it, from what I’ve seen over the last 10 years, only serves to drive community’s and people apart.
I can’t see a problem with this.
It seems Karma’s usage at the moment is quite limited. I know mine just keeps piling up.
Is the chance for loot dropping based solely on damage? Is there any official statement from Anet saying as such? There well might be I just haven’t seen it. If there is, a link would be lovely.
If it is based solely on damage, well yes, I think it should be tweaked a little better.
If you want to know what someone’s wearing, ask them. You’ll, a) find out what they’re wearing, and b) make the player feel nice as you compliment them on nice style/gear. Win win.
Inspections are not needed at all.
I’d like to see this too. Generally more customisation is never a bad thing.
I’d like to see them work more on their open-world dungeons and give that love. It could be done really well I think if given a bit more time/thought.
Yeah, I agree.
Most of the A grade MMOs these days have such/similar options. If GW2 wants to be counted up there amongst them they really should look at providing top quality service and play-ability across the board.
Laughs
That would be funny.
It wouldn’t be any worse, or out of place, with the other dances currently in-game I don’t think.
Customized weapons with personal dyes and skinning, sounds like a good update.
I really don’t want to watch on swords with pink blades.
That’s nothing compared to some items that are already in-game: Have you seen what some of the legendary weapons look like?
Also when you look at peoples clothing colour styles, the overwhelming majority of them are quite tasteful. This highlights that the same thing would happen with weapon colours.
Then By Bear’s Tenacity, Wolf’s Cunning, and Leopard’s Wisdom we will make this happen!
Snow Leopard’s grace and Raven’s wisdom!
I don’t quite get where the OP believes that no levels = sandbox? A sandbox to me means deformable scenery, constructible buildings, user-made content (i.e. quests) etc. It certainly doesn’t mean no levels.
Take the levels out of this game and you still have a theme park, only one with no challenge.
Yeah, to become a sand-box (e.g. EVE style) GW2 would have to be changed almost from the ground up. However there’s nothing to say small steps towards such an end wouldn’t be worthwhile though.
It is noticeable, but I agree; it could be a lot better.
I’ll never understand why MMO developers won’t put effort into their weather more. It could really be a great thing both mechanically and visually.
If Anet wants to set a new standard, this would be one niche within MMOs that is begging for improvement.
…
Another big thing is that atm a hugh amount of skills and traits are bugged. Making it impossible for A-net to balance soemthing as they don’t know if it is really strong or the counter options don’t work/ other classes options to do the same do not work.
…
Exactly, Laron.
I’d love Anet, above all else, to fix the bugs in relation to character skills/traits!
One thing I’d suggest though is having our endurance (our ability to dodge) effected by the armour we wear. For example; I play a guardian, but being able to roll around as much as a thief is just plain odd.
(edited by Reverielle.3972)
Yes.
I’d love to see you able to dye your weapons in-game.
Raven’s Wings, I’d pay for such an update!
It’s an interesting idea.
However one problem is that for newer players it becomes then significantly harder to get the resources required for crafting when they’re beginning, e.g. copper.
Maybe another idea is that we (as higher-level characters) have a chance of finding iron, platinum, mithril, and orichalcum relative to our own level when mining from lode tier nodes. For instance in a starter zone when mining, if you’re level 80, you have a chance of finding any just listed, but if your character’s level 60 you only have a chance of iron and/or platinum when mining a copper lode. Something like that wouldn’t impact on the new players experience at all, whilst providing some incentive for high-levels to return. Of course one might foresee that higher-level players then just return to these maps to harvest and don’t partake in any other activity/event there still.
I love that people are thinking of ideas how to make the lower level areas more enticing for higher-leveled players.
I think tweaking the way we’re down-scaled in level for such zones (Which Anet said they’re looking into), continually improving/adding content, and maybe also tweaking the drop mechanism would help a lot too.
Moa. Additionally their fat makes a good natural hair product.
Looks like I picked the right spirit animal then.
Any spirit of the wild fits with any profession really. There’s no right or wrong choice here. But yes, the most suited from a purely sterile point of view would likely be Raven.
You’ve forgotten to put which server you’re based on. That helps a lot.
Really? So as far as you know it only clips with the norn race? Well that’s something anyways.
