Ive always wondered why they didn’t do this.

apparently on both characters. 7 days.

first day = 20 levels, 10 levels after that each subsequent day

@ar so since by your calculations exotic is 10percent increase and that rune alone +5percent damage increase, and theres six so its 30 + 10 = 40 percent.

1000 damage vs 1400 damage, sure eq doesn’t doent matter?

I vote no. Just remap the keys.

I get confused when the abilities on bar isn’t in the same order as my keymaps. I don’t see an issue with an option to switch positions for 1-5 abilities.

Options are a great way to show smaller percents of people that you care. Those who don’t want it, don’t have to use it.

Don’t know why it won’t let me quote but:

“BTW, gear matters hugely. Some of my exotic armor outclassed what I was wearing by 150 points per piece. My lvl 80 exotic weapons are hugely more powerful too.”

Level 80 exotics are slightly better than level 80 rares which are slightly better than level 80 masterworks and so on. If you have found a piece of level 80 gear that is 150 points higher than another piece of level 80 gear then please show it to me. Whenever I look at the TC and compare Exotics to Rare I see 2-4 point differences at best.

Base Damage differential is in the 100s, not to mention adding up all +1% extra crit damage from exotic berserker set, the number differential is significant.

Don’t believe me? try it out for yourself.

It’s been a while since I looked at anything other than gems. I believe that’s where i got the 2-4 stat increase. Crystal to Orb is incredibly small, but the price difference is 5x that.

But, as mentioned above, that’s roughly a 10% difference in stats. So you would go from 1k to 1.1k damage a swing. Considering how much HP level 80 mobs have, you’re only going to shave off a second or two at most over the course of the fight.

I’ve got plenty of gold on hand but I am in masterwork quality gear because, in this game, gear doesn’t matter nearly as much as your skill does. Hell, unless you’re increasing your damage by 50-100% you’re probably not going to notice things dying faster.

oh lol ignore the orb, thats just a lame upgrade the bow came with, Ive upgraded it with a ruby.

Anyways you’re just looking at a bow, dont forget to include 6 equipment slot and 6 trinket slots.

aaannd upgrades.

such as, and since you have gold, go ahead try it, use a full exotic set.

I believe rizzy is right when he said the difference comes out to roughly 20%

Not a big fan of math? That’s fine, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s wrong and the actual difference is about half of what he says it is.

yeah im sure its because my maths suck, also onto of the 11 percent stat increase you claim it is over 6 equip slot 1 weapon and 6 acessories.

Now add the stats the rune attached to each one of the 6 equip slots

That’s an 11% difference. Negligible in this game.

Of course it is, thats why vigil armour is exotic.

I really do wish you would educate yourself before you start spewing, but anyways you ceased to be relevant when you started being irrelevant.

But keep thinking to yourself that gear doesn’t matter, the reason why you’ll start losing wvwvw (which uses stats from your pve gear btw) is because the other person has more sill (assuming you wvwvw)

Or that the reason your dungeon explorable runs end up wiping (assuming you do dungeons) is because someone else in your group is horrible

You can’t say that with absolute certainty. This is your opinion and a point of conjecture. If something is broken it needs fixing or scrapping. I don’t care if its core to the game or not.

1. Usually, I can say it with certainty. I read the ANet blog for three years. I kept tabs on the main site as they released information. I know what kind of game they were building, what the core philosophies of that game are, and I know that if they changed those things, it would be like bringing Street Fighter IV from a 2D fighter to a 3D fighter simply because some people don’t like 2D fighters, which brings me to my next point…

2. Just because you don’t like some feature doesn’t mean it’s broken. If you prefer tank/heal/dps combat, that’s fine, but that’s not what the game was built on, and most people are enjoying the combat as is, it’s working as intended, so therefore, it’s not broken. Same with the lack of a gear treadmill; it’s working. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s broken. There are a lot of ideas that make GW2 what it is. ANet made a game to defy existing conventions, not defy them for a month and then change them for everyone just because a few WoWites got culture shock.

Oh, and sorry Rizzy, but everything you say ceased to be relevant the moment you insisted that gear matters more than skill.

1) I don’t care what you read for 3 years prior to realease because if its broken now that the game is out = it needs ro be fixed. What they planned in the abstract may or may not work. If it doesn’t work it needs repair replacement. You might have a point if you take it to the extreme and someone says take all the combat out of the game. No one is talking those extremes.

2) Just because you like it, doesn’t mean its working either.

3) Rizzy’s opinion is not irrelevant. He’s entitled to an opinion. You are free to disagree. I see you telling people how to play/ enjoy the game. That’s bullkitten dude.

BTW, gear matters hugely. Some of my exotic armor outclassed what I was wearing by 150 points per piece. My lvl 80 exotic weapons are hugely more powerful too.

20 percent increase in damage or which stat your exotic is supposed to increase isnt much according to DusK.

But you know aslong as hes not in your dungeon exp runs dragging your team down, its cool.

You’re so right. My main is a Warrior, I got at least 450 more defense when I upgraded to exotic armor. My hammer does a minumum of 300 more damage a swing. Same thing for my rifle. Yes, you need skill too, but those numbers are to high to ignore.

Just wait till you get exotic jewelry and trinkets too

So asking for improved rewards for dungeons changes the core aspect of the game?

If it adds a gear treadmill, yes. If it doesn’t, no, and is one of the things I’m actually advocating for.

No, when I talk about people wanting to change core aspects of the gameplay, I’m talking about the people who think there should be progression raiding, tank/heal/dps combat, etc. Things that, if changed in GW2, would just not make it GW2 anymore.

Also, the anti-farm code won’t affect you if you -and this is gonna sound crazy, but it’s true- don’t farm! Woah, new concept, not farming in an MMO is more rewarding that some low-risk/low-effort/high-reward workaround. Ah mai gawd, sky is falling.

You keep saying gear treadmill but you don’t know what it is.
A gear treadmill is a game that continuously increases the stats of gear like WOW.

Increasing game rewards is is allowing you get that basic end game armour easier, it is not a gear treadmill.

GW2 has STANDARDIZED stats.
The only treadmill you have to do is, well since you’re not 80 id assume you be upgrading your armour every 10 – 15 levels or so and not still be in your level 1 gear are you?

But anyways, stopping at a certain point where stats are no longer improved and that baseline is exotics.

I really wish you would educate yourself and stop spewing.

But hey you can just get “EXOTIC Faction” Armour for 8g right?
Even though theres no such thing.

Because some people aren’t 80 and don’t fully understand the issues level 80s have with the current ingame tax but because they’re self centered and enjoy pushing their opinion onto others, they continue to talk like they know what they’re talking about.

For example saying you can attain exotic factions armour for 8g, when factions armours are rare not exotic.

I know it’s asking for a lot but I really wish some people would educate themselves before spewing.

Yes, it’s quite sad that we get flamed and called names just because we express honest concerns about the game, concerns which anyone who has spent a decent amount of time at 80 should have. Perhaps ArenaNet responding to our claims is a matter of time, perhaps they will never fix the issues we have. But by no means will I accept being told to just shut up and leave the game if I have any issues with it.

Dont worry they already are responding, I dont have the link off the top of my head, but the devs also agree that their dungeons aren’t rewarding and on par with is expected with dungeons, so they’re reevaluating the issue but making no promises for now.

SHM

When 10 fanboys jump on a post that brings up a legitimate issue.

It’s not a legitimate issue if it completely changes a core aspect of the gameplay that a majority of the game’s players bought the game for and enjoy.

So asking for improved rewards for dungeons changes the core aspect of the game? How’s that? Oh, you would rather that dungeons feel unrewarding? Well, if getting rewarded for spending time in a dungeon is a problem for you, you could just destroy all the rewards that you feel you haven’t earned.

Also, asking for the removal of the anti-farm code is against the core philosophies of the game? How so? You have the cultural armor who costs ~120 gold, which means they meant for the money to be obtainable in some way. Loot is already scarce as it is (scarcer than in most MMOs), how is it better that it should diminish over time? No MMO I have ever played ever had such a mechanic and for good reason. If you want to stop botting you should permanently ban people who do it, not punish players with the genuine interest of making gold.

These are the concerns that I have seen most people here expressing, myself included. How is it that they are not legitimate? In truth, the fact that these issues exist goes against the core philosophy of the game which is innovation in the genre. Loot diminishing surely isn’t innovative. Unrewarding dungeons even moreso.

Because some people aren’t 80 and don’t fully understand the issues level 80s have with the current ingame tax but because they’re self centered and enjoy pushing their opinion onto others, they continue to talk like they know what they’re talking about.

Have to say… all races having the charr design turrets…. pretty… unimaginative of them (the races that is)…

I would have imagined that each race would put their own flavour into their contraptions.
Asura = more magically infused, a balance between their eternal alchemy and machinery
Sylvari = More organic ( i mean they have a seed turret already!)
Norn = More nornish i guess, bear wolf raven snow leopard theme.
Human = More decorative like their gods, the healing turret could have symbols of dwayna, the fire turret symbols of balthazaar and you know…

Yeah sure its just visual aesthetics but I hope the devs have something planned for this.

You want some supermegaskillorder for ONLY 8 skill?

Putting that aside i think the skills are in PERFECT ORDER anyway. They are 100% resonable.
And you have to admit Gw2 is not the game you can play with Clicking skills. You have to learn using wasd and skil buttons and mouse same time. If oyu cant do that…then lad..you are like my 6 year old cusin. Who cant press 2 button at the same time….
BY the age of 8 you should be able to use a Ps3 controller and above 10 you are considered akitten if you cant wasd….
Thats my opinion. No offense.

Did you play guildwars or even bother reading the first post? :|

And sorry I’ve always believed the PS3 controller is for people with autism theres no order to Triangle Square Circle and Axe, which is why the Xbox controller is my prefered choice, but hey even if you have autism, the Characters, are colour coded.

But back to the point.

The whole point of this thread was the ability to reassign the weapon skill order you like, much like the way you do for your utility skills so you dont have to bind and unbind the skills each time you log into a new character.

Improving the end game

The thing about Guildwars which I liked was the low level cap.
So you hit 20… (Ding end game)

You get your base max gear at 20 and you’re off exploring the world with no worry of having to upgrade or anything of that sort, just enjoy the journey and the story.

With guildwars2 its different
The thing with such a high level cap is you have to upgrade your eq every 10 – 15 levels or so. like it or not, and by the time you get to 80 and get your full exotics, theres only 1 level 80 zone and you dont really get feel the rest of the game… because…. thats the last stop….

You could say, hey so now you can go back to the lower zones and complete the map.
Okay but why? they’re not worth it… you get low level rewards, its just more grinding for title.

If you look at some of the places, Blazeridge Steppes, Ebonhawke and Tarnished Coast for example do they need to be 30 – 45 zones? Blazeridge Steppes and Tarnished coasts are areas where dragon champions come, the Shatterer and Tequatl the Sunless.

Who actually goes there to level up? I didn’t… These are like places Id backtrack to instead of spend time in to do filler levels before the next story line.

So right now we have Arah the only level 80 zone.
Melchors leap 75 – 80
Frostgorge sound 75 – 80

And thats it? (add more if you know)

Wouldnt it be nice to have some of those filler zones like Timerline Falls be 80…
At least map competition would be more rewarding and not just a chorish grind for title.

GW1 -> GW2 Gameplay changes = Not so fun

Yeah…. only this isn’t wine nor is it as bad as substance abuse.

People have died after spending multiple days playing video games and neglecting things like food, water, and getting up to use the facilities. It’s at the extreme edge of things, but there is still the potential for addiction and abuse.

Also, kudos on taking a metaphor waaaaay to seriously. It takes effort to be that obtuse.

Having an addictive personality to the point you neglect basic needs is one thing.

Until someone neglects their needs and responsibilities, it isn’t a big problem.

Sure they could spend less time on a video game but if it still allows them to function normally and meet ends meet and basically be a functioning person it’s not as bad substance abuse infact its down right ignorant and disrespectful to anyone who has had or known anyone with substance abuse problems.

Quite a big chip on your shoulder, I see.

Again, you are taking the statement waaaaaaay too seriously. Seek professional help. I mean it.

Or we can just be ignorant and disrespectful

< 131 hrs got me to level 80 with 100% map explored, 1 400 craft and a full exotic set. (scroll up for ss)

I can also do a pretty good job at reciting my entire lore experience, because I thoroughly enjoyed playing through to level 80.

Name some MMO’s in the past 8 years that launched with more content than GW2 did

Allods, Aion, Guildwars, WoW, Dark Age of Camelot(not sure when this was release but I heard about it like 7 years ago), Age of Connan, APB, The Secret World…

Son, listing MMO’s without knowing what you’re talking about won’t get you anywhere. The fact that you list games like Age of Conan and APB, two of the worst major MMO launches ever, shows that either you’re trolling or you’re just a fool.

APB is not fun?
And maybe you didnt enjoy age of conan but I have a friend who swears by it.

Kinda like how you’re swearing by Gw2.

How about Borderlands?

APB went bankrupt, Borderlands isn’t an MMO and Age of Conan almost destroyed Funcom.

I wish everyone here had played Age of Conan at launch, another AAA title with a huge budget behind it. Around level 40 (out of 80) of that game you simply ran out of quests and had to grind to 80. It felt like pretty much every aspect of the game was broken or bugged. There was no functioning endgame content, stats on all armor didn’t work (and there were barely any armor sets to begin with!) there were classes that could one-shot other classes with one ability, the PvP features were broken, female characters did 25% less dmg than male ones, server crashes, numerous exploits and horrible performance was what made 800.000 players quit the game in the first few months, forcing them to close down almost all their servers in the aftermath.

I can only assume that the people who complain about GW2 as far as content goes have actually never played another MMO at launch apart from WOW in their lives – or they are trolling. There are a lot of things to complain about in regards to GW2 but content delivery is not it.

Well maybe APB shouldnt have been free to acquire :|

And that sucks for age of conan but theres still people on there enjoying it.

So Borderlands is an FPS RPG with single and Multiplayer options, that makes it a hybrid.

Look things happening here is like whats happening in AoC you’re still finding things to do, good for you, but for the others that have done everything… can you honestly say their issue is invalid?

What happens if you completed it somehow.

This is exactly the reason why now I have to slow down my pacing and just complete one map a day instead of what I was doing which was 2 day without even trying

Allods, Aion, Guildwars, WoW, Dark Age of Camelot(not sure when this was release but I heard about it like 7 years ago), Age of Connan, APB, The Secret World…

Yeah…. only this isn’t wine nor is it as bad as substance abuse.

Still pretty hard to get into a dungeon as a casual gamer, due to the lack of a dungeon finder and not many people wanting to do them.

But I’m glad your enjoying yourself

Never implement 'trial' accounts.

Dont you think Gw2 would have realized how to implement trial accounts?

It’s Guildwars TWO.
There is still a Guildwars and if you did a quick search on it, HEEY! trial accounts
Now how did that happen and work out?

Simple game’s max level is 20, trial accounts only get to be level 10, can they leave pre searing? YES.
Can leave post searing ascalon, no.

The game stops at a key point of Ascalon as a cliff hanger so people might wanna go buy the rest of the set and see whats it like.

And if you think the current base of 2 million is a big number, think again, thats tiny.
That’s not eve the amount of sheeps there are in New Zealand.

“game ruined by kids that have issues playing a game to have fun.”

I love how this line is an attempt to alienate, divide and cause a rift in the community is still allowed

I too enjoy the game but for others who don’t I feel bad they dont and wish something could be done about it.

keeping you busy???

dude! you play more than 40h / week.

please, game responsibly…

This kind of comment really amuses me. Its not the first time i see it.

Game is lacking? It must be you! Play less!

Seriously, a game you need to play less must have something seriously wrong. You understand that your words betray you? I just hope you’re not the avatar i know…

Indeed OP, play less, or not at all.

Drinking a glass of wine with dinner is enjoyable. Drinking five bottles of wine a day is a problem.

Hit the nail on the head.

The problem is that people go through the world “grinding” everything. That means, finding a heart, doing it, finding the next heart, going to the next DE, hitting a mob, going back to the heart, getting the 100% completion reward and moving on to the next map. Which is fine, but then they complain they have nothing to do.

Why can’t people just play games anymore? Why is the reward so important?

people who defend level 80 lategame arent 80

I’m 80, and there is nothing to defend, it’s not my problem that other people have nothing to do. I have plenty to do. As I said earlier, >200 hours and 50% map completion.

Yeah…. only this isn’t wine nor is it as bad as substance abuse.

Why people leave games?

Do not add LFG Dungeon Finders

Ok, OP seems to be trolling or something.
He says that he likes to meet new people and suggests that the others, who don’t want to do the same for various reasons should not have a tool to gather a party quickly.
OP, if you don’t want to use tools like Dungeon Finder – nobody forces you to, so don’t force the others to live in medieval age.
People are tired of spending hours – literally – spamming LFG/LFM in chat trying to gather a party. They spend more time finding somebody to play a dungeon with, than playing the dungeon itself.

Anet, we need some way to find people for dungeons.

Exactly.

Because everyone knows dedicated players spend hours sitting outside of a dungeon going LFG… PLEASE LFG….

Instead of being able to multi task on what short time they have on Gw2.

By adding a dungeon finder it means you can queue for a dungeon and do something else.

And theres already a queueing system in GW2

Because when you do a dungeon with 5 complete strangers you don’t talk at all?

Okay….

I’m 100% against this, because when I do a dungeon with complete strangers theres still talking about strategy and methods.

And therefore I can still make friends through finding good pugs, if dungeon finder makes it so that finding pugs ad good people in them easier.

Please add a dungeon finder

For people who couldnt be bothered with guilds, you know, the casuals and the people who are too cool to be contained in a guild

Reallocating Skill Order

Rizzy.8293

Heres the deal, the number 2 is not exactly in a sweet spot if you use WASD and don’t have a 100 button button mouse.

The one thing I loved about guildwars is being able to arrange the skills in the order youd like it, that being 1 – 5 as in quick access buttons in any order you like(like rupt, power heal, powerful attack) and 6- 8 as utility skills like you can take your sweet time to click on them with the mouse.

I been playing a thief on sPVP and sPVP is unforgiving when you screw up, I hardly ever use leaping death blossom and its on the sweet spot, at number 3.

You can tell me, “kittengo change it in your options” fair enough, but what happens if I get on my ranger, and number 3 is actually my opening attack and number 2 is the skill i need to time to use and their current order as it is is perfect?

Sure I could go ahead and unbind them back into their proper order, but really is this the most efficient way to do this?

Wouldnt being able to reallocate skills and their order on the fly be much better

Rewarding combat, really?

so what you want is a massive list of skills that chances are you’re not going to use any of them like in wow where you would rush and bash a target, auto basic attack a couple of times build up rage and unleash the other 2 – 3 attacks on your hot key?

the whole idea of guildwars 2 is minimzing the UI into using skills that are usefull and having 2 weapons preferably range and melee for a total of 10 weapon skills that no doubt you would use.

Melee’s first attack is rotational, range first attacks are just that.

if you have a problem with auto attacking, just turn off auto attack so you spam 1 instead to attack.

most of the fan boys arent even 80 yet lol

You mean “most of the people still enjoying the game aren’t the ones who rushed to the end”?

Yeah because clearly every who levels faster than you is rushing sarcasm
Heres an idea, how about different people have different pacing.

Should I say you’re a bad player if you take this long to hit 80?

Go run a marathon when you can one day alright and tell me if anyone running faster than you is rushing to the finish line or that you’re just slow.

Dangerous territory....

Really 2 million??

Wow thats like almost the population of sheeps in new zealand, but yeah I agree.

The main problem why they’re feeling bored like theres nothing to do when theres tons to do according to some people is because, doing something in GW2 costs money.

With the exorbitant cost of waypointing and repair bills if you get into a bad exp dungeon group.

Im scared of completing my map now lol
Im actually having to bring my speed of playing down real slow.
