Does anyone know if the teleport to friend item, works if the friend is in an instance?
This could be a fix to this problem if its not easily fixable otherwise.
No, it won’t let you join a story instance or anything like that.
Are you talking about bosses or phases? There are definitely checkpoints after each boss but there isn’t any on the phases except maybe that last phase but since that last phase is the easiest thing in the whole instance there was never a need to check.
I’m referring to the two bosses that you choose to fight at the beginning. Checkpoints between phases would be a bit too much.
Then why would they need to add any checkpoints? The checkpoints are already there.
I originally said that but then someone suggested it was a bug.
I assumed you were talking about the fight with the Mind of Mordremoth, not the mini-boss fights before it. The mini-bosses all have checkpoints once you’ve beaten them, which makes sense. The bug I mentioned (the boss jumping from phase 1 to the final phase, after a wipe) is one that happened on Mind of Mordremoth.
Or just remember to log in once every three months . . .
That cutscene was basically the first announcement of HoT.
Yuck. That really stinks. Unfortunately, all we can do is submit bug reports and make the issue known until a new build happens. Hopefully it gets unstuck before the next patch.
Break bars are a game mechanic so should be included.
I seem to remember there being checkpoints as we purposely wiped at the end of when I was the only one with CC skills and couldn’t break the bar on my own with the scaling. We wiped, started the boss over, but it quickly transitioned to the final phase.
I think that’s less of a checkpoint and more of a bug. I had the same thing happen to me once (very abruptly warped from halfway through phase 1 to the last phase); another time, the fight just went through the whole thing again.
Are you catching it at the correct spawn times? Modniir Ulgoth is a world boss, so it’s only up once every three hours (next spawn time is in a little under 2.5 hours from now). The pre-events for it will continue to run all day long, even if the boss isn’t due to be up, however.
I like to change my characters’ looks very often. Making a keyfarming character once a week and map completing all of the cities, combined with any I might get from log-in rewards and my weekly keys, is more than enough for me. I wouldn’t be against a permanent transmutation charge being sold in the gem store, but it’d probably cost more than 1000 gems (and rightly so).
I have the story all done (for all four zones). I want to get BACK to them, and specifically Ember Bay, with a character who has already been there.
I want to do some of the achievements and map the zones completely. And, I don’t want to have to spend more real-world money to do it.
If the character has already been there, just waypoint back to the map. Or am I missing something here?
I’ve tried getting into ember bay without having the episode via tele to friend but I got kicked out, I expect bitterfrost to be like that too. Later I just decided to farm some gold and I got 400 gems for about 95 gold, which gave me access to bloodstone as a bonus too (helped me get my last ring).
You have to be online when a new episode comes out to unlock the map.
As long as you have HoT (might also require you having that particular chapter unlocked, too, though), you can just walk into Bitterfrost from Frostgorge. Ember Bay and Bloodstone Fen aren’t directly connected to another map, and so you have to do the story or buy the portal scroll to enter those maps. But some people do claim that they can teleport to friend to get to those places; I’ve not tried myself.
I’m not sure if that’s the case, the portal to bitterfrost from frostgorge only opens once you complete “journey to bitterfrost” (the second part of ls3 ep 2) on one character, then yes any other character on your account can walk in without doing the story.
Ah. Yeah, that could be the case. Incidentally, a friend who has the chapter unlocked but hasn’t done any of the LS3 story just tried to teleport to me in Ember Bay, and he was able to do so successfully. And again to Bloodstone Fen. So yeah, looks like you have to have the chapter/episode unlocked to get into those zones.

Well, odds are I’d be the necromancer who “accidentally” started the whole zombie apocalypse to begin with, so . . .
What Ayrilana said. Last year, we didn’t get a prank, which made me sad because I really enjoyed the pranks from the previous years. I don’t know why Anet didn’t do a prank, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was, indeed, because of the complaints from players who didn’t appreciate the pranks (even when one was able to turn off the effects). So, I hope we’ll get another prank this year, but I don’t think it’s likely. We’ll probably just get SAB as our April Fool’s thing from now on.
10 hours of posts and no one read the weekly news on the front page of the website. It’s a Dwayna item.
This.
“I hate to admit it, but some of the best artisans I can commission hail from Divinity’s Reach. Humans love their spiritual aesthetics, but it seems like looking to Dwayna for artistic inspiration might be a bad idea after that whole Malchor incident. Well, whatever—it’s not my circus.”
It could end up being a weapon Kasmeer uses in the future, but right now it’s just a Dwayna-themed shield.
This thread is from almost five years ago, last post being from almost two years ago. :p

Simple as visiting a vendor for quad stat pieces.
You have to farm the currency for the particular map the vendor is in, too.
Have you checked your Collections tab at the bank? Minis used to be deposited there, and any minis that you haven’t manually removed and added to your account will still be there. The minis are all the way at the bottom of that tab.
This is really good to hear. I didn’t experience any bugs my first time through the instance, but I’ve experienced them every time I’ve completed the mission since then (a different issue each time, unfortunately). It’s good to know that it’s going to be worked on.
If people were talking in map chat on your previous map instance, you could click on one of their names in your chat log and whisper them to see if they could party up with you so you could taxi back over. If you happen to remember the name of anyone in that map, you could also whisper them that way. But if you don’t have any chat log from that map instance or can’t think of someone’s name, then you don’t really have any other option, other than leaving the squad you joined and trying your luck with relogging.
Is your in-game mail full?
Lovely tribute to him. I’m sorry for your loss, Xar.
I love the silly fluff, too. I really hope this has some sort of satisfying payoff, even if it’s not important to the main story in any way. I just love silly stuff.
I got letter number 4 today. This one was signed “His Majesty King Blaine, Regent of Winslow Well”. He’s apparently planning to leave the well at some point, too.
I agree with the Ayrilana and Randulf. It was this way in GW1, and I liked it then. I like it in GW2, as well. I’m sorry that you lost your old characters, though.
I have no experience with the skill unlock packs, so I couldn’t really comment on it. But the description makes it sound like it would, indeed, be a very quick way to get all of the skills. So, if you have the cash to spend, go for it, I say.
Edit: The wiki article says that the skill unlock pack won’t unlock PvE-only skills, so keep that in mind. You’ll still need to farm rep for any of those you might want (most of the PvE-only ones I used were found in EOTN, but a couple you unlock in Nightfall will be very much wanted or even required to get through the later Nightfall missions).
As for changing your secondary profession, all you have to do is be Ascended, find a Profession Changer npc, pay them 500g, and choose which secondary you want. Which character you choose is really up to your playing style. Some of the Monk’s skills are pretty handy to have, particularly for the resurrection skills (in case of your Heroes with their resurrect skills dying), for example. Using your ranger could be good for getting the rare pets and leveling them to 20 for the HoM points, too; but you could also make one of the other characters’ secondary profession a Ranger and do the same thing, once you’re done with your Ritualist secondary needs. But, really, it’s just up to what you feel most comfortable playing.

You may have a difficult time using the more popular team compositions because they rely on many, many ritualist skills on your heroes’ bars. So, you might want to look into either making your main character’s secondary profession to be Ritualist OR making a new ritualist character to play. I’d personally opt for the secondary profession option. I’d then look up what skills you want to unlock for yourself and your heroes (check out gwpvx for some build suggestions) so you can see where you need to go to buy/unlock those skills. You may need to make your way through a good bit of Factions content to unlock some of the more highly coveted skills (especially the elite ones).
The hero builds I used when I was doing HM for those early Nightfall missions were a 1 necro/2 rit team build. http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/Build:Team_-_3_Hero_Spiritway
The only problem is you need to have two ritualists unlocked for that. You get one from EOTN, but the other two require either completing Nightfall (Razah) or Winds of Change Hard Mode (Zei Ri).
The other one I played around with was a three necro team. http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/Build:Team_-_3_Hero_Discordway

Quick question… 3 years ago did two handed weapons only have one upgrade slot? just saying he dual wields so that he can get two sigils but as it has been as long as I remember two handed weapons get two upgrade slots, and two infusion slots if hey are ascended or legendary.
Yes, for a good while after launch, two-handed weapons only had one upgrade slot.
I know this is old, but I’m struggling with the same issue:
- Oiled Orichalcum Greatsword Blade is in visible bag
- Machined Greatsword achievement is active
- also no other items that can be charged in inventory
- tried many places of power
Any ideas?
Your screenshot shows you at a Mastery Point. You need to go to a Hero Point “place of power”. Are you sure you’ve tried a Hero Point?
No problem. I’m glad I could help.
When you’re in game, press H, and then click on the Achievements tab. Once there, hover your mouse cursor over your total number of points (in the upper left corner of the tab). Doing that will show you a break down of your total points with Permanent, Daily, and Monthly. If your Daily and Monthly totals add up to 15,000, then that’s why you’re not getting any AP from dailies. If they don’t add up to 15,000, then you might want to submit a ticket to support.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any place in-game that mentions this cap. It’s something you have to either ask others about or look up on the wiki. But it’s a very real cap (and a major source of confusion for many people once they reach said cap).
The only “gliders” non-HoT accounts can buy are the backpack/glider combo ones (like the Macaw and Hawk wings, Mursaat backpack, etc.). You won’t be able to use the glider without HoT; you’ll only have the backpack skin.
Shoulders are definitely Norn heavy t3. The bottom half is too obscured to tell, but the skirt COULD be the “butt cape” from the Arah heavy set. Or it could be any of the other leg pieces with a “butt cape” (Norn heavy t3, HotW heavy, Carapace heavy, etc.). As for the dyes, again, it’d be nearly impossible to tell which dyes were used because the color is affected by the setting and atmosphere, the computer that captured the screenshot, and our own computers.

You probably hit the cap. Once you’ve reached the cap of 15,000 points (from Dailies and Monthlies combined), you won’t get points from dailies anymore.
You should contact support via a ticket, which can actually fix the problem for you.
I tried it trice, got no response.
Note that a bug report (which is what you send in-game) isn’t a support ticket and won’t get a response. You have to create a support ticket to get a response and help for your problem. https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us
Also, it can take up to 72 hours to get a response, so be patient.
HoT insignias are account bound, yes. But Marauder isn’t an HoT insignia, it’s available on core Tyria crafters. It was added with Heart of Thorns, but shouldn’t actually be Heart of Thorns-required content.
It still uses HoT materials and was introduced with HoT. So, it’s technically a HoT recipe and is account bound (as is the insignia itself).
I got a third Blaine letter today. He now calls himself Lord Blaine, Prince of Winslow. And he’s switched from gardening to “armoring”.
They should sell patience in the gem shop.
Ed Gruberman still wouldn’t pay for it.
Sounds like he deserves a boot to the head.
No it’s not, the mail carrier doesn’t have the dragon, I know cause a guildie tested it with me, it’s not the mail carrier at all.
Ah. The thing you’re thinking of may not be the mail carrier, but the mail carrier definitely does have a dragon head.
It’s the 4th birthday mail carrier.
I can’t find/hear any near the bank. And if they are left over from Halloween, I would imagine someone would have mentioned it before now. Maybe some recent patch accidentally tweaked something to bring up the old sounds?
and why would they hide new patch notes inside older patch notes?
They’re not hidden. When a new post is added to a thread, the thread is highlighted on the list of threads. They only start a new thread when they’ve done a big patch (not a hotfix).
Your closest bet would be to report for Verbal Abuse if you’re going to do it in-game, but (as you said) they’re not saying anything. The better route would be reporting from the website. https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
This definitely isn’t a bug, so it’s in the wrong place. You can report the specific person(s) via a support ticket from the website; that way you can show them your screenshots and evidence.
Because they’ve (long ago) decided to focus their development work and talent on Fractals and Raids rather than Dungeons.
Yes, you’re meant to fight him twice: once to basically jog his memory, and then the second time to prove your worth. And yes, the second fight is meant to be a bit more difficult. This pattern is repeated in the following steps of the chain, too. Honestly, I didn’t find it to be a difficult task for this fight; I did get downed once in a later fight with a different character, but it was all still manageable. All of the big attacks are telegraphed very clearly.
Yeah, most likely culprit seems to be Vengeance. If you’re not a warrior, then you might have a bug on your hands.
There’s a thread about it in one of the subforums (Lore, maybe?). Whatever the reason, it’s quite unsettling the first time you come across the screaming corn.
Edit: Here it is. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/The-screaming-corn-in-LA/first#post6507033

It’s in the section talking about the “new Fractal” that they released with that patch, so it’s a character from the Nightmare fractal. We don’t know exactly who it is yet, though.
