How many exotics do you find in a week?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Well i do kill lots of champs also. When the old Frostgorge train was running i was there. Now i do events and temples in Orr. Since the megaserver rolled out i’ve gotten TWO exotics. I play daily. My magic find is a base of 188 plus i use foods and boosters and banners. I sure would love to see anything other than green garbage for a change.

Wow. This really does make me think i should delete my whole account and start a new one that maybe gets the LUCK ROLL. I’m angry, frustrated and thinking the developers should have a better reward system.

That’s exactly why I don’t let it concern me. For me, getting frustrated over something that I have absolutely no control over just isn’t worth my time wasted. I just concentrate on getting enough gold where I can buy the exotics I want……farming gold, and/or buying some occasional gems is a much more controllable option for me, and keeps me smiling more. Salvaging the stuff that I got off of several pavillion gold runs has got me enough gold now where I don’t have to worry much about drops(except for salvaging for more gold)…. plus have never had the legendary or ascended stuff in mind, so don’t have to worry about mats and such.

Plus, there is just so much stuff to do in this game, so many things to explore, so much dialogue to listen to, interaction with npcs, etc…….that I pretty much have fun in whatever I am doing in game. But if I were a hardcore player and had specific legendary/ascended goals and such……I could see where I might be quite frustrated at times.

Being a true casual player has it’s benefits.

How many exotics do you find in a week?

I have to stop reading this thread because it makes me extremely angry at the stupid RNG in this game. If it’s not broken… then I don’t know what broken is. One person gets 1 exo per HOUR. Others get them all the time too; one per day, several per week. Yet here I am, as are many others, barely ever seeing one in a month. And I kill mobs. Tons. High level. And do WvW. This is just … anger-inducing.

If it’s any consolation, I have rarely gotten any exos from killing regular mobs. Probably less than 10 in the entire time I have been playing the game(started 2 months after release). Almost all of my exos have come from champions of one kind or another….WvW and/or PvE. Over the last 4-5 weeks I have maybe gotten 1, as I have been doing a lot of leveling of my lowbies…so doing lots of regular dailies, mob killing, map exploration……my exo rate goes way down when I am doing that kind of stuff.

And when I know I will be doing some champ stuff, I always make sure to have my magic find buffed as best I can…..not sure if that makes much difference, but seems to help me.

But yea, the rng seems to vary wildly. There are weeks where I won’t get any for quite a while(month or more), and then I will get on a streak where I average around 2 a week for a few weeks……the luck for me on them is all over the place…..my above thread was the best guestimate I could come up with.

I play around 20 hours a week. 114% luck without any buffs/consummables.

Depends on what I am doing….if I am getting a lot of champ bags and chests from what I am doing…maybe 3-4 every couple weeks. If I am just doing map exploring, dailies, etc…..maybe 1-2 a month if I am super lucky. I don’t really pay a ton of attention to it, as it is not that important to me, and I almost always end up salvaging/tp’ing it, unless it’s something that I can really use. /shrug

I love this game! This whole new LS2 is really looking like it will be a super cool story line. The fact that Anet is adding in things that players are now seeing and going “wait a minute, that wasn’t there yesterday”……people now watching the vines grow….trying to figure out where it’s going and what it’s doing…..talk about sucking some of the playerbase into it all! I can’t wait to get on tonight and check out some of these areas and maybe see more growth and the vine continuing on to…….where???

Curious as to where you have seen the numbers/percentages of all active players that lead you to this assumption.

If you’re just talking about the forums…

No not the forumS, just this thread at the time my op. As far as numbers/percentages go, well that’s the idea in having a general consensuses it isn’t exact.. generally speaking, but very unlike your dissension which is fact. In either case my personal stance has changed, but you know that as you undoubtedly read through the entire thread.

I do however still believe (with all my limited research) that the general consensus of the much anticipated new area to start the LS2 (size/amount of content/time of completion) is below expectations. I implore you or anyone else to make a poll link for this thread’s readers to prove otherwise once and for all. I will be checking the *Like box.

My apologies. Guess I wasn’t vague and ambiguous enough for you. I will try harder next time.

Bring back Festival Token mercant.

in Living World

Teon.5168

In the spirit of the gem store conspiracy theorists………lol…….

This is all a plot by Anet. They’ll put some teasers out there suggesting that a vendor will be happening soon to take care of festival tokens and such. But they’ll stretch it out to 2 or 3 months, thereby forcing some players to buy more bank space. It’s all a plot to make more money.

But, in all seriousness…..I think that having a vendor or 2 to take care of older life story and special event baubles/tokens/whatever is not a bad idea. Maybe add a small fee to access that vendor.

That’s not waiting until the very last minute? Sounds like your definition of last minute is completely different than mine. But then again, I also assumed that the vendors would be gone at the same time the event ended.

Anyways, I still think you’ll see some vendors pop up in the future that will deal with the tokens.

Pavilion vendors [They are back!!!]

Teon.5168

Just for the record. A dev once said on this forum on a question if vendors of a festival would stay for another week that that’s how they did it before so it’s how we could expect it in that festival as well (it was some time ago with another festival).

So since then I expect that to be the case.

I did not forget to spend any tokens I waited till the festival was over (what I knew would be today) so I knew how many tokens I would end up with and could then decide what to buy with it.

I usually don’t have many tokens so I have no idea what happened those other times but I do know that usually they are there for a while after an event.

Anyway, if they are nowhere I expect Anet simply to have forgotten it and we might see them in the next patch being added. That happened before as well.

I sure wouldn’t wait until the very last minute or day, next time. That’s just asking for grief.

But I do agree with your last comment and as I previously said…..we will probably see some sort of source to sell them at in the next patch or so….similar to blade shards.

But next time, don’t push it to the very limit….give yourself a day or two buffer and get rid of most of any sort of special tokens, etc from a special event. My hunch on being able to dump them later certainly could be wrong…..you might now be stuck with a bunch of trash because you waited too long.

There’s your problem, Ravenfeathers, thinking time is linear. In actuality, it’s a big ball. In essence, your own clock is responsible for your misguided belief in that the patch is late; if it didn’t tell time linearly, you wouldn’t have this problem.

And how is that accurate? I live in the East Coast of the US. I’m taking into consideration time zones for the globe, i’ve mentioned different times for different areas in every post.

What exactly is the point of this ridiculous argument about global time concerning patches, etc.??? They’re a west coast based company, and their patch times are based on their company’s working hours….therefore, the patch times are based on U.S. west coast time zone.

Deal with it.

Here are the numbers for Q1 2014

http://www.ncsoft.net/global/ir/earnings.aspx

Yes there is a decrease is SALES, but they are largely attributed to Lineage 1. Yes there was a decrease in sales of GW2 from Q4 2013. But all that means is LESS people are buying the game than they did in previous quaters. It doesn’t show that players are leaving. A decrease in sales will not reflect that players are leaving, or in anyway infer that the player base is shrinking. There is no way to even reach that conclusion based solely on the number of sales and royalties (if gem store sales are considered royalties.) However, if people are still buying the game, just not as much as before, it would not be unreasonable to consider that the player base is increasing. There are NO numbers that reflect the games population, and how many are still playing vs how many have left.

But how can that be, when there are posters here that are absolutely 100% sure that since they don’t like the game, 1/2, yes 50% of the playerbase has left in total disgust!!!

They must have one heck of a crystal ball. Either that, or they have thousands of friends who all quit en masse after their friend said ‘this game sucks!’

Can GW2 be saved?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

Charging players if they comeback for the Season 2 content is just wrong and a real bad idea, it will discourage players from coming back.

I still think the game need a real expansion, new races, new professions, player housing, stronger RPG elements (not less). So far we haven’t see any this with living story content. The repeated living story content wasn’t much fun the second time around.

All the new content won’t help much if it’s the same every time you do it!

The game need some randomness for events, world bosses and most of all for dungeons. Random bosses, trash mobs, traps, bosses to move about the world and not just stand there, make players find loot don’t just reward it! Too much if not all of GW2’s content is the same each time it’s done, it’s need some randomness to keep it fresh.

Well, then, get the word out to those players that you know have quit. Players won’t be charged for LS2 content if they sign in within 2 weeks after it’s been launched on July 1st.

Buying or NOT buying off the gem store is not about sending Anet any message. it’s about How I do not want to support what I do not enjoy.

If anet Understands that is awesome. If they decide to Look Into why the game is losing players, and makes decisions I agree with, I become a happier player, and spend More.

it’s that simple. I do Not reward with money what doesn’t entertain me.

Do you have a link showing that they’re losing players? Especially after they just brought Chinese players onboard.

Saved from what? Death? Becoming a game you don’t like and can’t play anymore? Does ‘saved’ means that the game would be that if it took all of your suggestions to heart?

It doesn’t matter from what. The question is really just a lead-in to other questions, used to sort out those that think the game needs saving from whatever they feel is wrong with it.

In hind sight, if I had been more awake (day off, I was sleeping late), I would have likely come up with a better title for the thread.

But more recently the Trait system overhaul: great positive changes were made but ANet decided to lump in gate-keeper content and drastically reduce player’s sense of progression by spreading out the trait point gains.

This has effectively killed the game for me when it comes to playing a new character…the tedium and dryness of leveling is intolerable. Having to wait until level cap in order to have a rewarding build undermines the glorious flexibility we had before the change.

ANet is destroying the game by countering every thing that made the game appealing to free-form players who took to heart the “play it your way” ideal.

The more ANet keeps forcing players to jump through select hoops, the worse things will become.

It was far better when a player could choose from a thousand different roads in order to reach a goal, ANet is actively working to limit players choices down to but one or two paths.

It’s guided devolution, ANet is slowly, and apparently intentionally, degrading the strong points that attracted players to GW2 in the first place.

Sorry, but I just don’t see that. Sure, the trait system is different now and requires some adaptation, but I can still do what I want to with my character…..I can still build it however I feel like building it. There were never “a thousand different roads in order to reach a goal”, but I still have plenty of different ways to do things in game to keep it all interesting and varying and entertaining.

Maybe the “tedium and dryness” you’re experiencing is not so much from the changes made in the game, but rather, your sheer familiarity with it. Any game, after you play it for awhile, no matter how ingenious and varied it might be, WILL get stale, old, and boring…….it’s just the way it goes.

I am not to that point yet, but it sounds like you are. And I am not really sure if the game is to blame for that. Take a break, try something new……GW2 will still be here when you feel the urge to play it again.

And maybe, by then, it will have some changes/adds to it that will spark your interest and enjoyment for a short while, again.

I experienced the same thing with Dark Ages of Camelot that you are now experiencing with GW2. I loved that game, and played it for years. But as time wore on, even with changes I liked and didn’t like…….the game just got OLD…….no matter what I did, or what the game did……I just was tired of it……my familiarity with it. It happens…..I went back and reinstalled DaoC just a few weeks ago, and that old love for it has disappeared……it’s just a clunky old mmo to me, now.

Fortunately, I am not to that point with GW2, yet. In another year or so, maybe…..just the way it is with mmos. Or for that matter, with any game…..:)

Download Teamspeak, join ts2.ttsgamers.com, go into Boss Blitz 1/2/3/4/5/6 and look for usernames in Teamspeak with ‘TAXI’ next to their names. You don’t need a microphone but you do need speakers/earphones.

80% of us are not TTS. We are just PuGs willing to use our microphones and organise gold maps for everyone else. I have spent the whole month staying up until 4~5am nearly every night to help map hunt/taxi/organise/call HP%s/ERTs/you-name-it and just this morning I was in a map that got 8 gold chests in an hour.

Gold maps are not dead, you just have to be willing to listen.

Nothing stopping you from looking for gold/silver taxis in LFG, open-world content shouldn’t have to rely on voice comms, but the Boss Blitz channels on Teamspeak are the easiest, fastest, most efficient 6~14 hour farms I’ve done.

Good to know….thanks for posting this.

Why arn't people angrier?

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

No point getting angry. There is nothing u can replace WvWvW with right now. Folks from ESO have come back with bad reviews of it. Wildstar is not a DAOC replacement.

The only thing is when CU comes out and it allows casual players to enjoy 3 sided warfare then we shall see.

Could not agree more. I actually reinstalled DaoC a few weeks ago just for the heck of it, and geez, it is not at all like my ‘nostalgia’ remembers it. Absurd crowd control, slow(and I mean sllllooooowwww compared to GW2…..even guardians seem to suddenly be world class sprinters compared to DaoC), and the graphics are just so subpar.

Funny thing is, except for the absurd crowd control(I will always remember how long stuns and such could last in that game…lol)…I seem to remember DaoC just being a glorious game that I truly loved, until the population dropped off the edge of the map. After having returned to it for a short bit, it’s amazing how one’s nostalgia can put rose colored glasses on everything.

And I tried ESO……bleh….wasn’t impressed….I would rather play the Elder Scrolls single player games.

So yea, I would agree that GW2 has the best WvW at the moment. Hopefully they will improve it down the road,(I am not holding my breath on that, as it’s obvious WvW is way down the ladder on Anet’s priority list) or some other game will come out that has some really rockin’ WvW.

Guess I am just viewing it all more positively…..I think new and stronger alliances will be formed, as well as enemies being more clearly defined. And I think the Zephyr Sanctum will survive….and relocate.

But then again, who knows? I am really excited about LS2….that’s all I know

Looking forward to it! In the mean time, doing dailies, leveling alts, still trying the occasional boss blitz, WvW, etc….my usual routine.

And, fwiw, it all ends on July 1st, so you don’t have a whole lot of time left to fill out your achievement bar for the festival or bazaar

..um..play?

read the achieves..and do them…. whats not to know?

already read it, so far only have 1 point for welcoming party. Went to Labyrinthine Cliffs, no idea what to do in there. No pointers, no directions. Went to Queen’s Pavilion, kill 2 monsters, and left. Still no idea what’s this about.

Need someone in game with step to step instructions, not the generic information.

I do not need superiority laugh from elitists.

If you go to the pavillion and kill a couple boss mobs, DO NOT leave in frustration, as you then miss the drops and xp for the run. All 6 bosses must be killed before you get achievement points/drops/xp for the event. And you don’t have to kill all the bosses…..just get in a few hits on 1, or a few, and you’ll get credit when the run ends.

You’ll get xp when a boss that you have been hitting on drops, but that is not the end of the event. The pavillion run ends when the chest drops after all 6 bosses have been killed. You’ll see it on the lower right of your screen when it drops.

Feel free to ask questions in mapchat, as they’re usually a few people there willing to help out new players to the event.

And don’t go up to the gauntlet while your waiting for a pavillion run to end, as that will reset you, and then you won’t get the boss blitz credit in the pavillion. (Unless you come back down from the gauntlet before the bb run ends and get in a few hits on a boss or two)

Tricks to finding a Gold BB map?

in Festival of the Four Winds

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

Good luck with finding gold runs. When the festival first started, I had no trouble finding them and getting into them. Now, with only 1 week left, gold runs are extremely difficult to find. Granted, I can only play in the evening hours on weekdays, but even on weekends they’re very tough to find.

You’ll find people trying to organize gold runs, but they almost always devolve into a zergfest, afk’ers, and players killing vets to fill out their achievement bar…..and they almost always turn into 30-45 minute bronze runs with a bunch of players who have absolutely no clue how to do the pavillion(even when you try to help them out on mapchat). It is not a bad place to get xp for an alt lowbie(if you can’t stand EotM)….but that’s about it, anymore.

Best of luck!

Charge for All Episodes - regardless

in Living World

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

I’m demanding it should be paid for because I believe the game needs this fundamental change in development for it’s long term survival (and my personal enjoyment).

How exactly is the long term survival of this game linked to your personal enjoyment?

And you’re “demanding” it? LMAO…….come on, be serious…..or at least realistic…..lol

The more I think about it, the more I feel this topic is moot.

ANet will eventually move to a content driven model on its own — it will be necessary for its own survival. The charge for late access to LS2 is just the first step in that direction.

If you seriously believe that, then why did you even start this thread? Your arguments and statements in this thread make no logical point, imo.

What I think the main purpose of this thread is…….‘change the game to what I would like it to be, and heck with the rest of the playerbase’. Tons of people in this thread completely disagree with you, so you change it all to a “moot point”, and state that the game is already following your suggestions. Um yea, ok…whatever…..lol.

But I appreciate the good chuckles I have had with this thread…..lol

Yet another ‘change the game to what I want, or it will die!!!’ thread……lol

Duelers in WvW and attitudes

in WvW

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

If in a keep or tower, they are red.
If outside away from a tower, or next to a tower that isnt being attacked, then ask.

But the usual attitude is the former Red = Dead
WvW is WvW, it is not sPvP, dueling, or even GvG.
Anything goes in WvW, and thanks to very few fixes, and even approval of playstyles by the mods, anything really does go, be it legit or not.

So next time you come up to someone who complains, tell them they should go to a quiet area where players rarely go, there are plenty dotted around each map. They can duel in peace and without interruptions there.

truer words have never been spoken, its WvW, not anything else. If someone gets mad, oh well. Send them a smiley emote and tell them to have a nice day

Completely agree.

Festival for new players or just vets?

in Festival of the Four Winds

The boss blitz in the pavillion would work just fine for you. You’ll die a bit quicker than the true 80s out there, but you’ll still be able to contribute and do damage to the bosses. Some gold runs have problems with uplevels, but most people out there don’t care. The nice thing about being so low out there, is that you get great xp…….it’s a fairly fast way to level your lowbie up. Just ask questions if you aren’t sure what to do, and pay attention to map chat if you get into organized runs. And mainly use single target dd……aoes will attract too many adds.

If you see me in game in Divinity’s Reach, give me a holler, and I would be more than happy to show you the ropes in the pavillion.

Best of luck!

Looking for Kaineng WvW guild

in Looking for...

Teon.5168

Hiya,
Been playing for awhile, and currently belong to a good PvE centered guild. Am Looking to join a secondary guild that is more WvW centered. Will rep while I am in WvW, but want to join a guild that doesn’t have a problem with members not repping 100% of the time, as I enjoy the PvE guild that I belong to.

Older person, but I get along with most everyone. I am a casual, west coast USA player.

Have several 80s, as well as some upcoming lowbies.

Have access to TS. Give me a holler in game if you’re looking for Kaineng WvW guildies. (I also do some pvp when I feel the need for something different)

Nervous about talking in teamspeak

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Teon.5168

I hate when wvw commanders want everyone to be in TS, then require you to talk to prove you’re actually on the map and not a spy.

I actually had this happen with my wife and me just the other night….went to wvw, the commander was demanding everyone get on TS, then when we did…one of the players on TS started wondering if we were spies…..lol(and we had been in their zerg several times before….not like we were total unknown strangers)

We both left TS and just did other wvw stuff, as that group got way too paranoid, obnoxious, and cliquey…lol. It happens sometimes.

My wife was really miffed about it….I just explained to her “Hey, these people spend all their gaming time out here, and don’t get out much except in WvW…..so they get a bit paranoid at times….lol”

Still waiting for end game content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Teon.5168

“Endgame”, to me, in any mmo, is when I get to the point where either I need to take an extended break from the game, or move on to a new mmo.

I haven’t reached that point in GW2, yet. It still entertains me quite a bit.

Fastest way to get Tomes of Knowledge?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

Boss Blitz. Then trade 300 Festival Tokens for 1 Tome.

This is by far the fastest in my experience. 80 per gold round, meaning 4 gold rounds = 1 tome and change. if you’re in a good map it’s not hard to get 10mins/gold, so 40 mins = 1 tome of knowledge. Sitting at ~65 of those things right now waiting for the gem conversion prices to even out a bit to get another character. I kinda want to wait till I get 80 or get a lvl 20 booster thing though, so I can be lvl 80 in a few seconds

Agreed. I just got sick and bored to tears of doing pvp, and the pavillion seems to be a much quicker way to get tomes.
