Don’t forget, the whole team stopped working on GW2 until they released this outside-of-GW2 minigame.
This plus everyone who works there hates this game. I hear they also kick kittens (thus the choice of censor word). Seriously get a grip OP.
I also have multiple ‘mains’ and cannot figure out why all the stress of choosing just one. You have fun, use it. It is not fun, stop. The game can be played very effectively in green let alone rare/exotic, I have done so on most of my toons until I suited up to higher gear over time.
Anecdotal evidence on forums suggests this could happen to some people. Have not experienced it myself. Could be a streak of really bad luck that just happened to break when you changed armour. There is really no way to tell officially one way or the other since the claim is that things are working correctly.
ok this is gonna sound odd for some of you but is it possible to get a reverse effect with magic find? I just spent a hour in orr with full MF gear and got nothing, not a single blue or green item of any kind, almost nothing in bags (made a killing in gray tho) and when I finally gave up and put my regular armor on suddenly had armor and weapons dropping like always bags started appearing more often.
Has anyone else had this issue or am I just reading way to much into it.
This is quite good advice. I suggest following it rather than the route you choose OP.
Then you’re basically complaining about the wrong thing. You want to discuss dynamic events, general PvE and so forth and yet you bring up auto-attacking as your main point.
I can respect someone providing general feedback (all feedback, good and bad) but don’t go on a tangent.
I too have lots of criticism about my PvE experience, namely how you can outlevel places and then they are simply easy trash fights. Easy fights are boring and even waltzing around in outdated gear doesn’t make it ‘fun’. The level of danger that areas are suppose to present evaporates and suddenly that cave or that lair of enemy factions isn’t menacing at all, just an attraction on the map. Also, dungeons are predictable and formulaic. I try to provide feedback, describe my experience as well as present ways to solve the issues I have.
It’d be far more productive if you accurately describe what your issues are in the game. It’d be a bonus if you can possibly suggest ways to change the game to absolve your issues.
“The main suggestion I’ll make in this thread”
Put it in suggestions.
I have 80 mesmer created number 6 of my characters, I have a lvl 50 necro created 3rd of my characters. I am biased for mesmer and not really enjoying necro.
It is your preference? Why ask strangers for justification?
I have no strong desire to play these games now, I did not have a strong desire to play them when they where new. I am completely behind the artist/programmer that did this and the management that allowed it. It adds to the game, it adds to the feel of a company that allows exploration outside a small narrowly defined area of accepted play style.
This applies to pretty much every game I have played online. The only difference is that the wait time is 30 min shorter since you don’t have to wait on a tank or healer, still need to wait around though.
I find dungeons to be such a hassle to do.
You spend 15 minutes making a group through a 3rd party site, then you spend 15 minutes clearing the group event to unlock it. You always have to pray someone has completed SM to open it, and someone always leaves after the 1st patch causing tou to repeat the process.
You spend 25-30 minutes prepping for a 10 minute dungeon.
Too easy, then move on and reget the money spent. Ele is fun for me, I play it scepter/dagger solo in PVE and staff in group play. Others love dagger/dagger. Changing attunement is something I only started doing at higher levels but it greatly improves the ‘fun’ factor. Most of the way I stayed in earth and while I rarely ran into problems it is much nicer to see the combos of earth/fire and use ride the lightning into mobs is a lot of fun (until the mob dies before ride is fully done and then you ride into the mobs behind).
I have to agree about mesmer, it was the easiest for 1 to 80 for me. Easier than guardian, hunter and ele. Thief I have not gotten a good feel for so it is lagging at 50 and prob will for a long time.
how do you die on a mesmer? seriously, how?
I levelled mine and the only issue I had was finding enough mobs to round up to make it interesting.
You can faceroll multiple vets and champs on a mesmer.
Not sure about thief, I’m not a fan of that type of class, but maybe you need to adapt your playstyle.
Guardians can to an extent just tank stuff, other classes have to move more to avoid dmg.
I think one of the biggest things GW2 has over most other MMOs is the fact that you and some random player can both start beating on a mob and it doesn’t matter who hits it first, you both get loot. Its a thing I imagine people would take for granted but you really notice once its gone. If another MMO comes out which doesn’t have that basic feature, it won’t be as fun as GW2 is.
LOTRO added this feature after GW2 came out. I think a lot of games will have it as standard.
You can get to 80 in hours or months, your choice.
I think in events like the dragons where there are no pre-quests (claw and teq) that the window was put in as a mistaken tool to limit camping. It just did and still does the opposite. The only thing it did was cause creative people to post dragon timers on the internet. It is a in-build philosophy to make a spawn window that I don’t think has ever been tested to see what impact it has on enjoyment of the event itself, it is just assumed to be good for something.
It is not 50/50 and is higher than the 1 in 10 thrown out earlier. Don’t think even ANET can if they wanted to give a real value to the ratio. In LOTRO there is voice chat built into the game. Every large pug that can be done at end-game had 1 or 2 female voices and several people (male or female) who never speak. Since GW2 does not have this feature even the bare minimum number can’t really be guessed at. I personally play both male and female toons and when on my female toons have never been hit on. Have had people ask but that is not an issue at least for me since I answer and they stop asking.
typing for work came before typing for games. I drop caps on a lot of words but punctuation I like to leave in. Like others have said it helps break up and clarify what you are getting at.
Funny stuff on the internet if you google punctuation and meaning.
EDIT: was thinking of this even though it is not really related. Taken from a joke site on the internet.
An English professor wrote the words: “A woman without her man is nothing.” on the chalkboard and asked his students to punctuate it correctly.
All of the males in the class wrote: “A woman, without her man, is nothing.”
All the females in the class wrote: “A woman: without her, man is nothing.”

I do agree with this.
After playing LORTRO for a year I have got to say there is such a thing as too many titles. I don’t look at the list anymore and have used ‘well-travelled’ on most of my toons.
I always found it odd that the different orders give you titles like Warmaster, Magister and Lightbringer; but you don’t actually get the title… Even when Trahearne makes you commander, you don’t get the title and that guy at the end of your personal storyline granting you ‘hero of Orr’ (or something, can’t remember) doesn’t grant the title…
I mean is it too hard to make character-bound titles?
unless you ask people to pug without joining your guild (if you don’t want transients) you cannot do anything with only 2 people. You will run out of time even if you can kill one of the first tier events (bounty hunt).
Sex appeal absolutely, hooker appeal no.
Shrug, hookers dress to have sex appeal. So they are pretty close to one and the same? Also, I am quite certain the teenage boys are not hookers primary customer throughout the world.
That said, I am all for sex appeal that is also tasteful.
True, Heide Fliess had an amazing black book. Just wish games did not try to compete with her.
Sex appeal absolutely, hooker appeal no.
I know sex sells, I don’t know why the game devs think everyone is a horny teenage boy.
Games seem to bring out the robe/hooker wear look in designers. I don’t know why.
This post covers the same ground https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Frustrated-by-lack-of-Black-Lion-Keys/first#post1556287
zero keys 1200+ hours played since headstart. There has been no nerf.
mixed, 2 to 80 with various activities both did 2 crafts to 400, one of them I did map completion. 2 I did without any crafting 1 of those did most of the maps the other did not. So anyway you want to play the game you will get to 80. Did dungeons on only one toon and do not do PVP except the 50 kills one month while I did map complete on that toon.
Edit: I stop personal story at or just after claw island now after I did the whole thing on one toon.
The grawl cheif in Lions Arch has specifically said they distrust the Consortium. I really don’t blame the grawl. I think there is going to be a fight between us and the Consortium very soon. They could very well worship the Karka but as has been said they worship everything. We also have worked to bring them into the fight against the dragons so whichever side they are on we will be too.
PVP in games always seems to be based on you will like PVP eventurally. Kind of like someone hitting you with a baseball bat, saying they are having a great time. They then look at you funny when you say it is not fun. Then they say they will keep hitting with the bat until you say it is fun, and get ticked off when you refuse.
Yeah, your name is always on top, I think the order under that is when others log in by default. The top of the non-online members is always the leader.

You did not get hacked, you had an attempt to hack. Different things.
I love the writing and acting in TSW just absolutely love it. I am frustrated to no end by some of the mechanics. Someone triggers something on a quest line and it is frozen for anyone else coming after if they don’t clear it. There is a personal progression quest that I just cannot get past, you get it in my opinion way too early (about gear 4 or 5 I think), but even when I had weapons to 10 and equipment to 8 I still could not clear it. I am absolutely doing something wrong but getting the boss down to 25% the second attempt and then never getting it below 75 the next 10 attempts is just too much. Otherwise combat is as was mentioned ok but not amazing. Switching weapons around is fun. I do not read build posts so not affected by flavour of the month. I can solo up to city of the sun so not a huge thing to be able to solo effectively. The forums have very little helpful posts about bug walk-arounds. The outside sites have very good writups about how to do any quest though. All in all I prefer GW2.
Horsies!
Seriously though I have not seen a single thread asking for centaurs, many for skritt and quagen.
Would be an interesting change of playable species though.
PVP encourages this behaviour due to its very nature. It is unethical and dirty but since it is what it is designed for I don’t think it is banable.
I noticed the char footprints the first day I played one at startup. Since it has not been fixed I think the logic is the charr are masters of deception and do that to make people think it is a two legged beast with claws going the opposite direction. Any tracker will be fooled into going the completely wrong way.
As to necro I only have one to 50 and am not really enthusiastic about it.
If you just unlock account wide wp’s as they are discovered this would effectively do the same thing as your suggestion. Without all the coding required to have 4+ extra graphic renditions.
I like the idea of champ grab-bags. Loot specific to the champ and area would be great. I have also killed champs and the surrounding mobs and gotten green from the random mob that is in the area and blue from the champ. Time spent killing the champ is better invested in killing 10 area mobs. The vet mobs on southsun are a completely messed up loot mechanic. harder than the majority of champ mobs in game and they have the same drop chance of other vets, meaning you are as likely to get nothing as something and then chances are high of just getting white level 76 gear.
I generally stay far away from class forums unless there is a specific question I need to get an answer to. To me if the mob dies and I am alive 9 times out of 10 I am happy. In most of the forums it seems if its dies in 36 seconds and should die in 30 seconds you or the class itself are a complete waste of space and should not play/be in the game. Also ‘time is money’ just reminds me of this http://www.hoornaert.net/?q=time-money
Edit: can’t get the hyperlink to work properly. Include /?=time-money to get to the cartoon

Just one question to the OP, are you Finnish? Would explain everything about the sauna.
Thanks for the reply.
No, this is not what I mean. I mean the red +1 is whited out. I have voted for posts before and have some posts up-voted as well, so I do understand the process.
I have opened new posts that I have never read before and found whited out thumbs. This seems to indicate I agree with things I have never read. Has this happened to others?
I had and have now no problem running around orr on my ranger.
Now I cant make it to my last personal story because the kittening zombie crap has too much cc. Like wtf, horrible zone.
Have you ever heard of ‘stability’?? Try it sometime, you might like it …
Yeah – but only if you play with “ANet approved” class. With guardian/warrior I have no problems maintaining stability… For thiefs it’s little bit different. Only elite skill allows you for some kind of CC ignorance. (but fortunately stealth is solution for some problems). Play with ranger – without option to hide a pet, without stability without staealth.
Does anyone know of work being done using leap motion https://www.leapmotion.com/ to control GW2?
So because you get more hits from a word that has been used for hundreds of years in many different contexts than a word that comes from one game, it means charr are hated and everyone wants to include elves in GW2?
What do the most successful fantasy MMOs have in common? They had elves! People love elves. Remember EQ? And then WoW.
GW2 would have been better off not trying to be so original, and just stick with the races that people know and love. I’d guess that 80% of players dislike the Charr and Asura races. The Sylvari are not much better, although I suppose they are the closest you can get to an elf.
I don’t think you could have said anything more wrong. Many people are getting sick of Elves. Charr & Asura are 2 of the things that make this game great. Even if it’s just visual.
Interesting though. 30 year old NES junk is ecstatically raved about, but elves are no go. I find it very funny.
So take a hint & realize people are sick of them.
Why so hostile? I’m not the OP, didn’t suggest Elves ingame, and must have touched a nerve there. Take a hint, google Elves, google Charr, and get back to me on which is more popular overall.
Take a hint.. “you” are sick of them.
Again, I didn’t suggest Elves in game. The game has Sylvari, which are fae enough and pointy eared enough to more than fit the niche.
LOTRO, they just have orcs lol
Well Orr now is far better than it used to be, density is much less…
Its a dismal, dreary, depressing and dank place, perfect for undead really…
Frostforge Gorge is far better, just a shame its only 1 zone and not 2 or 3…
I agree undead have been done to death in computer games, in every rpg I have ever played theres been hordes of undead…can’t think of one that doesn’t have them…
Wife aggro always takes priority.
Have no problem at all with Orr. It just rose from the bottom of the sea, the controlling force uses undead as weapons. No game in existence that is a MMORPG changes entire shared zones depending on your personal actions.
(edited by Yargesh.4965)
Go to options, sounds, set effects volume to zero. Problem solved.
“Oh, not more flipping elves. But he didn’t say ‘flipping’, sir”
/Lewis
Was thinking of this lol.
