Did the brute force method with 3 eles, a necro and the mesmer.
(Chained poison with the necro, and 2 eles [one with radiation field, one with avatar of grenth or whatever the human racial is] )

I’d imagine its a cakewalk if you have actual DPS classes.

Path 3 can be done in under 25 minutes.
Path 1 (jotun) could probably be done in ~40 based on if there’s some good strategy to the ooze boss.
Path 2 can get pretty long yeah.
Path 4 is just ridiculous.

Ive had him slighty north of the center of the room.
He used the AoE attack. I had literally nowhere to run but backwards at the time, and he just resets. Even with 3 other people in the room who were all in the same situation.

His aggro range is literally like, half the size of the room, and its certainly smaller than his AoE attack. At the VERY least his AoE attack needs to be smaller than his aggro range. it’s stupid as all kitten to dodge it and find he’s reset because your dodge has brought you just out of his aggro range.

I didnt have these problems at low level. Or most PvE in general really.
You said you tried D/D right? For me the change from staff to D/D was basically all it took for me to start decimating monsters.

The idea behind the naders was to stop speedrunning. It’s a stupid fix to it tbh.

Was it so impossible to tie the spawn triggers to something like say the barriers being destroyed? That was groups can plan around exactly when they’re going to fight the spawns.

While its not a foolproof suggestion the only thing I can suggest is being the first to enter the dungeon. I know I often enter the dungeon first both as a precaution, and also a kick deterrent.

methinks the two arah paths you havent done are jotun and seer. Which would mean you’re missing out on the

1. tar fight which has 2-3 important fight mechanics, including using the enviroment
2. the korga fight which has an enviromental aid
3. the jotun fight which is one of the more unique and fun boss fights in this game (imo)
4. the grenth fight which was unique and pretty kitten cool when it came to teamwork
5. the simin fight which despite being buggy as all hell did have a neat mechanic (shame it didnt work very well)

Arah in general has some pretty cool boss fights outside of the warden path.

See it says 1.25 second when you’re going to put it on your bar.
But when its on my bar it still says 4.25 seconds, and thats exactly how slow it casts.

DPS check? The next wave doesn’t spawn until the current wave is dead. The group i did path 3 with had horrid DPS, we won by survivability.

Incorrect.

The last time I did this wave 4 spawned on us before wave 3 was finished.

We actually did wipe the first time. Did it the second time with no deaths. Wasnt so bad, focus the smokelord in wave 3 I believe it is? Nuke down everything from wave 4 asap, and then cleanup in wave 5 which is much easier.

seeing as the most dangerous boss in arah is (usually) lupicus. Whose second phase is designed around hitting everyone at the same time for upwards of 10,000 damage (add 1000 damage for everytime your team messed up in phase one) throw in a dash of nearest waypoint being over 5 minutes away (jotun path) and having gobs of hp is of critical importance.

This is why I run AC all 3 paths a day.

Also @ the person asking about path 2.

When you pass the main room and head east you then go south to the flooded temple (with the spider pop ups) instead look north, there is a group of gravelings with a champion. He drops the money. When you finish the spike trap bit, head back to where you kill him and keep going north, there are stairs and a path leading to the next champion who drops money. Kill him, take the stairs on the left, kill the ooze, enter the boss room.

There are also 2 of them in the Colossus rumblus path (same one in the room before the lovers, and then one in the tunnels IIRC)

Only 1 in howling king AFAIK.

Just need to do seer path for mine.

probably gonna go back there soon with my guild leader and some PuGs (I love my guildies, but a DPS check boss really needs more than just rares and mithril accessories)

Also for those struggling with dungeons, pretty much everything is PuGable. Indeed, you may find players that are looking for specific paths are usually those going for this title, and thus are reasonably skilled anyway. I know the group I found for jotun first tried Lupicus in about 10 minutes, even with 1 person dying and running back (their first time in arah)

Dont be afraid to PuG something out if it seems like you cant get your guildies/friends for it.

Regarding guilds and non-representing members

They do not earn influence for events, dungeons, or pvp matches.

Im not sure about the attendance check.

Also kicking someone for not representing is something you should do on a case by case basis. Why did the person join your guild? I know I have a guild that I specifically run dungeons with. I will only represent them when im doing dungeons with them. Same thing for my WvWvW guild.

If your guild was billed as a “do everything” kind of guild, maybe inquire into why they are representing. Are they actually doing things with other guildies or not? If they’re simply playing solo all the time, ask why they remain in the guild. Some people join lots of guilds simply to use them as an LFG tool.

Also you lose nothing but a single guild slot by having a member who only represents to ask for help/GLF/ETC. And guild slots are cheap. Unless your guild is literally maxing out on members its really not a big deal.

"You were killed by...." feature in PvE as well.

it may refer to the path taken during the dungeon. I know during some paths you can hang a left immediately after the trap corridor. Then walk straight across to the lovers room (or do that then head south to flooded temple) Other than that I have no idea.

the point isnt about DoA. The point was that the dungeons arent designed to be first cleared by a PuG who hasnt done it before, and isnt communicating well.

This is exactly what Anet wanted from their dungeons. I suggest reading the first few posts about them in this forum for more information.

For a PuG my only real advice is for you to practice to the point where you can live for ages and ages. Phase 2 is really the only difficult phase (even for a PuG) so as long as you can survive the entirety of phase 2 you’re golden.

At which point it basically becomes practice practice practice.

Unless you’re doing jotun, in which case, dont roll with a PuG.

1. Ask mesmer to moa him as soon as possible
2. Ask guardian for stability before the fight
3. Ask a teammate with a stunbreak, or other blocking skill to aggro first (knights are highly susceptible to this one as they love to jump the first one in range)
4. dont stand near your teammates and then prepare to interrupt the knight between the knockdown and the subsequent smashing.
5. dodge roll really really well.

I cant really give specific advice for anyone who isnt an ele but
1. mist form, arcane shield, lightning flash can all be used pre or post leap to stop being 1hit-ko’d. indeed you can even burn the knights leap with well timed mist forms or arcane shields.
2. Staff has gust, which will push away knights. Consider using it to save teammates who have been hit with the knockdown
3. armor of earth grants stability for pre-emptive save. Also trait in earth line gives stability when you get low hp, so you cant be wombo combo’ed without having a chance to get on your feet.

The boss that stuns you is stopped by burning (thats why there is 300 year old whiskey everywhere)

korga is cakemode. Even with 30 gorillas on me I didnt get downed once. it’s a redux of the brangoire fight from TA story. Just kite in a circle for 20 minutes.

The adds between korga and the final boss can be skipped with swiftness and a condition removal.

The final boss is literally
1. pick up crystal
2. stand still directly in front of him
3. when he does lava font animation (hint: ONLY animation besides the auto attack) roll through him and turn around.

No need to do jack kitten about the fire ring.

Jotun path is soloable past lupicus…

the ash legion one I did made general amounts of sense.
You fight alongside rytlock in the dukes tomb. You essentially help him directly, so he starts to recognize you. Then you basically end up being promoted because hell, you practically saved the dudes life. So then you’re a legionnaire. I went and helped my father, but I didnt bust him out of jail. I ordered him out, as legionnaire I cowed the jailman into letting him out for a bit. Then I saved the entire higher body of charr rulers from a flame effigy, which IIRC earned me my promotion to centurion.

1. the missile zigs and zags. Ive actually found it easier to dodge by running towards it.

2. From my understanding it works like this, the circle shows the landing zone for the missile. The missiles have their own separate AoE when they hit the ground and explode. Thus, standing slightly outside a circle may be safe, and may doom you. (I attached a crude picture at the end of this post)

3. you can roll through the bubble, you must roll such that you are passing through the bubbles edge during your invincibility frames. Failing that bring endure pain and just tank it out.

I did the shadow imps as a D/D ele. Even with them dodging my churning earth more times than not.

If you have a “Squishy” class (but seriously? I did it as a D/D ele. No excuse.) send them to an easier torch. Like the one with no spawns on it at all.

Toughness Vs. Vitality

For a low hp class? Vitality.

Your toughness doesnt mean jack when monsters hit you for 12,000. At that point it’s vitality or bust. Especially if you play a low hp low armor class. Toughness works better against lots of small hits, as well as any direct physical damage. But vitality is critical for the larger hits, and condition damage, both of which are incredibly prevalent lategame (try melee’ing something that spews out poison 24/7 which does 2k damage a tick and tell me you dont wish you had more vitality. Or get smacked by 12K from a green missile and tell me you arent thanking your lucky stars you have over 16khp)

Also healing has the worst scaling in the game (300+ healing power on an ele makes our heals like 5% better. Whereas that 300 into vitality gives us far higher survivability) So dont worry about trying to match up healing power to vitality or toughness.

Ive always done it 3/5 then 2 people hack
also as an ele I always do the hacking because you can use mist form and arcane shield while channeling. So I can make myself immortal for about 8 seconds. More than enough to cover any slip ups my team makes when it comes to killing the bomb golems before they blow up.

CoE Exp Path 1 - Too Hard!

The silver ringed golems only spawn once per hack. There’s 3 of them per hack IIRC.

So hack once, kill them, hack again, kill them, hack once more kill them.

at 3/5 you get 2 people to hack with the other 3 guarding them. If done right both players finish hacking at about the same time, meaning you skip the last layers of security.

also, you can use utilities while hacking. Ele mist form or arcane shield can give them ~8 seconds of immortality hacking. More than enough to cover any mistakes the kill team makes.

Is exploring hard to reach areas of maps conisdered an exploit?

Probably not an exploit.

Here’s my contribution for hard to reach areas. Not that difficult, but ride the lightning is the only way to get there.

using ride the lightning also allows for a few more neat ones.

Here’s a few to try around Lions arch.
1. The roof of the LA bank
2. the ruins near the ship tunnel south of the traders forum
3. the ruined tower/the roof of the trading post building (which is sadly intangible)

All of the above are quite possible, and listed in difficulty from easiest to hardest.

my D/D ele has literally no problem taking on groups of foes. At all.
Hell I tag better than most guildies besides the engineer with the AOE’s I drop. And ive got like 4 times as much healing potential.

the worst cliffs are the ones that have a tiny fall hit before the larger fall hit.
I always get told “lol cliffs are easy just fall damage trait”

but what do I do when the first fall hit is only 200 and burns off my trait, then the next one smacks me for 20,000. Really unfair, please nerf.

You will however be able to get the 25 stacks then have it regardless of what weapon set youve got switched out at the time.

Like all the ones in lions arch. I dont care about your majestic city view. I want to climb on top of things, and kitten im going to skip this cutscene and then ride the lightning onto a nearby cliff, dodge around an invisible wall and have a dance party on those ruined structures I shouldnt be able to get to. Way more fun that watching the vista.

They need a tank because their subject alpha fight involves dying repeatedly, and they want someone who is going to stay alive so that they can zerg back in. I find it strange that their idea of a tank probably wont include ele or mesmer, despite those classes being the easiest to use solo against alpha for extended periods of time.

necro → ele → whatever is lowest

necros and ele’s do the most damage of all the ghosts, and generally speaking the monk heals arent enough to outheal even 1 persons damage o.o

Wait what.
That’s not the final boss as far as Im aware.
Jotun final boss doesnt buff himself.
Mursaat doesnt either
There’s not even one on warden.
I cant speak for seer, but I cant imagine any group getting past simin having trouble with any other boss.

If you mean lupicus then you should know that there are plenty of strategies for him, most of which are documented on the forum. Also you can totally knock out warden/forgotten path in a little over an hour with a good team.

I think you may want to go back down to doing CoF and HoTW for a bit. Those are much easier and shorter dungeons. Once you have a feel for those dungeons give arah another try.

Commander horrifying. Back before we had tons of commanders on FA he was literally the only one I saw actually doing WvWvW. And he was responsible for lots of map sweeping that took place. He’s also one of the few/only commander i’ve actually seen turn on and off his commander tag both in and out of WvWvW (inside in order to hit strategic objectives without causing the zerg to peel off a tower and chase him to the nearby supply camp, and outside he just keeps it off most of the time anyway)

I’m not dying a lot, i’m actually often the one person who survives in the room, my gear is fine (full exotics from TA, AC, CoF),i actually find gw2’s dungeons boring : / and i believe that the game being too forgiving for death may be one reason why.

It kinda contributes to kill the “tension” of the encounter, and the excitement of the victory imo.

Have you done Arah? Try jotun path or seer path. See how forgiving those fights are (spoilers: not very ;p )

Dungeons should give Karma?

give karma for the events/bonus events.
Give more karma for the bonus ones that people generally dont do (cave troll, oppressive ooze royalty [hell most people dont even know this one exists] ETC.)

And less karma for the ones that are essentially always done (spider queen, the saving roshan on the bridge in COF path 1. All the magg things in path 2, the ice dragon totems in HoTW ETC.)

Hell kill any boss that can heal themselves, with this strategy.

Kill any boss who wipes your whole party, with this strategy.

Hell, most bosses in Arah lock you out of the room if you die (jotun final boss, alphard, ETC)

There are plenty of bosses that this strategy will never work on.

and at the end of the day this strategy relies upon at least 1 player surviving until the others get back. This isnt always feasible for groups. And TBH in the cases that it is, those singular players are usually living enough to the point where they deserve the win anyway. If someone survives for the full 15 minute fight, do they not deserve the win because their teammates all died 4 times apiece? Should good players not be able to carry the bad ones?

I mean, are you also dying? If so I might suggest perhaps revisiting your gear and/or strategy. I feel like if you were the person who survives for the full fight, you wouldnt consider it stupid that you can carry your team. Because you would most likely feel like you deserved the win.
