Ever since the Labyrinthine Cliffs, the pre-render cutscenes have been absolutely horrid quality!

Choppy, low resolution, just bad quality cutscenes, even the Rytlock cutscene in the HoT beta was this awful quality, pls give us the option (in options) to allow higher quality cutscene downloads.

The LA intro cutscene was the latest offender, pls stop

Grenades should have a fuse…like actual grenades, they should hit the ground, cause a red circle, and detonate a few seconds later, like enhanced throwable traps.

Maybe give them a bounce or 2 so people have to think about how they are throwing them rather than point-click-win

Yes, but the only real reason is to get it from a 3rd party, is to get it at discount, if it is the same price, there would be no reason not to. Plus 3rd party have their own policies on refunds, you cannot ask Anet for a refund if you buy 3rd party.

The core version will no longer be available beyond the currently accessible keys, and will be bundles with HoT from here on out.

You seem to definitely have a hoarding problem, especially since you also said your alts have full inventories too.

I have all my alts geared out (that I actually use anyways)

The rest of the weapon boxes I just choose the salvagable insignia option, and salvage it, make an easy 2+ gold per and use the gold to re-buy anything I may need in the distant future.

You are given bank space, and you are choosing to consume that space with stuff that doesn’t need to be held onto. The boxes are so very easy to get, not some rarity that that would require you to hoard them like you are doing.

You can throw the tools away, open the achievement chest, open the login chest, sell the WvW blueprints, throw away the Arena Tokens, throw away the Zenith skin, or place on an alt (as a PvPer, you will have a TON of transmutation charges as well.)

A couple norn hunters in Hoelbrak are still talking about the “Hole” in Divinity’s Reach and how there might be something living down there to hunt and the entire area is “roped off”.

…Apparently the NPCs in this game live under a rock and are not so helpful to the immersion sometimes.

why would anyone want to join a loosing game where their team is already demoralised?

I actually like turning games around, me and a few friends do it all the time, you don’t have to always win to have fun.

Plus you would get a rank boost, just as a nice “thank you” for trying to be a good sport and help a team come back. Maybe instead of a rank boost, you could just get a nice “vonunteer’s chest” with some special loot in it.

you cant do that people would take advantage of the loot system, simply go into this que decap or cap a spot and wait for the match to end since your already getting bonus glory and now bonus loot with a match that will already be close to being finished.

Now of course that doesnt apply to you or your friends but there so many things that could go wrong such as a certain type of player as a replacment. A team with 2 thieves and 2 eles and the bunker player dc and then they get another thief. Also the skill cap. Certain players are frontrunners and when they get a lead they dont give it up which could leave the person coming in to getting talked down too because the player they replaced was better.

Sorry though this idea is very creative its a horrible way to take things.

I suppose some of that could be alleviated with a proper kick/vote system, but that might be abused as well, there has to be incentive though.

Why should the lobby get an update? Wouldn’t you rather have new PvP maps, than something that isn’t really useful? Even LA is useful, since it’s the portal hub and location of skin vendors.

It just needs to entertain players while they wait…like in a Doctor’s waiting room, with a magazine or crossword puzzle or something, just something to distract you while you wait :/

This is kinda stupid to think of, it kinda makes my brain hurt.

Numerous PvE maps being added and changed all the time, and the grand ol’ Lion’s Arch being changed and recreated over and over.

But Heart of the Mists gets no love.

People are forced to sit there and wait when queued for matches, but the map offers nothing to do, and is simply bland and uninteresting.

Why is there apparently so much time and resources spent on maps that are temporary and simply show “stages” but nothing can be done to make HotM an interesting place to be?

Even WvW is getting new Bordlerlands, new mechanics, map changes (ruin update) and even EotM.

Short Version:

  • Hotjoin/Practice is now only Custom Server specific.
  • Practice button becomes Volunteer Button.
  • Unranked is simply “Play”
  • Ranked remains the same.
  • Leaving non custom games will result in dishonor stacks.

Practice becomes Volunteer:

The practice button will be renamed to Volunteer and function as a substitute system for currently running games. Players who select Volunteer is be queued and brought into running games where an AFK kick, leaver, or non-loader exists (any non-even match) and be given a rank bonus for being a volunteer.

Leaving a match as a volunteer will still provide Dishonor stacks.

Custom Servers:

These will remain the same, acting as a quick hotjoin method of playing PvP and setting up player-made tournaments.

New methods should be available for players to setup their own custom servers, and more options should be available for server creators to customize points, team size, objectives, etc.

Unranked becomes “Play Now”:

Unranked currently sits as a standard method of PvP, but with the ease of access of Hotjoin and the more imposing nature being named even with “rank” in the name is off-putting for some players.

This would now simply be “Play Now” and function the same as it currently does, a non-ranked standard match using matchmaking. With the combination of Hotjoin and Unranked populations, queue times should stay relatively unchanged, or faster.

LA: Golem firing at turret?

On top of the prison at fort mariner stand these 2 guys and a golem firing at a turret that is in the distance. The thing they are firing are some kind of electric balls. the turret seems to reflect them back or something.
Also the dialog makes me very curious.
What do you think this could be? Some kind of testing on a defence mechanism?

I have a couple friends playing TERA, and through some digging found that most people had the consensus that GW2 was the superior game.

and rather would spent their gold for a permanent personal mount that allows them to move permanently 25-33% faster, so that you don’t have to waste sigils, traits, utility or runes anymore just to move faster and could use instead of that something that suits better your build and is in general more useful, than providing only the movement speed boost to travel faster around

Stronghold is already better than Conquest. It just needs a few tweak here and there:

  • taking damage stop channeling
  • after 15 minutes, both Lords lose impatience and go to mid to attack each other, with all their guards.
  • no more timer.

I kittenin love that 2nd idea. That would be so fun haha.

Only Caltrops?

I use Shortbow and stacks Poison also…they melt in seconds.

The shortbow arrow does some damage when it hits the ground so it would de-stealth the thief.

With caltrops and caltrops on dodge-roll, these do not deal any physical damage so the thief can stay stealthed and dodge through the NPCs to kill them without much chance of stopping it.

If caltrops and caltrops on dodge had a tiny dmg amount added to it, would fix the issue.

This was something I encountered today, it was annoying, but pretty minor.

A thief can simply stack stealth, run condi, and dodge roll in the path of door breakers and basically kill them without much chance of stopping the thief.

I like threads like this because we can nerd out about UI polish.

I agree nameplates should better display team colors and classes. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what profession someone is when they are wearing outfits, or you’re new to the game and haven’t learned all the spell effects yet.

By default, only your targeted or hovered players show nameplates. Is this still too in-the-way? The nameplates themselves don’t have mouse detection, things just have large interact radii. And when your’e ground targeting, you should be able to still click on the ground just fine through people, so maybe there’s a bug?

He means the giant name at the top of the screen

The UI element with the character image, name, guild name at the top of the screen interferes with mouse clicks, if you try and fire a long range ground-targetted ability, or use one above you where that picture/name/guild name area is, you then use the ability at your feet…which can be quite annoying to say the least.

I do like the sounds of colored nameplates though. Hate to say it, but it worked in many MMOs (such as WoW), where Ally nameplates would be green, and enemy ones would be class specific (shaman/blue, paladin/pink, priest/white, etc.)

That would be a nice addition TBH.

Also a side note, is there any way we can get another option for UI scaling/size? even with the smallest settings, it is still too large, perhaps a “tiny” setting?

I miss GW1 customization sooooo much.

With the specialization patch coming before HoT, and us not getting any extra stats from the trait lines themselves….

How about, instead of throwing more stats onto armor, you let THE PLAYER allocate the stats into the areas they want.

Similar to the increase/decrease buttons of Guild Wars 1, you can choose to add points into the main stat lines, and each time you add an increment it increases the “cost” (just like GW1, again)

This would let the player customize more personally outside of their gear choice, so it would be more like a “bonus” they choose.

They can throw all of it into Ferocity, and have a lower overall amount of stats due to cost inflation, or balance it into stats they regularly use.

example:

Traits lines no longer have stats attached and I am given 200 “points” to spend into:

- Power
- Toughness
- Vitality
- Healing Power
- Precision
- Ferocity
- Condition Damage (maybe not)

Placing your first increment adds the stat of choice in a given amount, adding more points gives you the same amount stacking on top, but the cost of adding those amounts increase each time.

I’m sure they could handle this better than that. This was obviously a pre-recorded and preset cutscene that simple plays on cue. There needs to be a better way to have the same effect, while respecting the players own video/graphics settings.

This needs to change if this is the path that will be followed for future pre-rendered cutscenes.

Not only was it a completely break in continuity (daytime cutscene, nighttime mission) it was awful low resolution pre-recorded quality.

Perhaps this is due to compression methods, but this is NOT a new issue.

The exact same issue can be seen in the Destruction of Lion’s Arch cutscene, as well as the flythrough for the Labyrinthine Cliffs that can be viewed from the Zephyr Sanctum Model.

Perhaps there could be a new UI option that could be toggled that would allow the download of higher quality cutscenes in the future, this would let people save space in their install when using the lower quality if they want.

There’s a 4th option, just ignore the “Nearly Completed” list entirely, I’m sure there’s also quite a few players out there that don’t even notice this list, as it’s right next to the “Recently Completed” list, another one that I would think most people ignore.

I guess I don’t fall under the majority then, I use the nearly completed when I feel like achievement hunting, and use the recently completed to quickly get back into achievement categories if I feel like continuing with specific zone/area/activity achievements.

Reread my post, I never said majority or minority, I only said quite a few, which covers a broad spectrum…and I always just went into the Achievement tab and looked at the specific different categories to see if there was anything I wanted to do. Then again, I’m not really a big achievement hunter, the only ones I’m semi-actively working on are the Slayer ones, with the exception of Giant Slayer—-because I’m generally lazy…haven’t bothered to do the LS2 ones for Lumi armor, no Dungeon Achievements, some Fractals but only because of Dailies(otherwise I never set foot in them)…some World Boss ones. They’re there if you want them and you can either hunt them down specifically, or just get them as you play.

The map is simply too small to have with respawns, there needs to be room to flank and move without being in direct engage range 90% of the time if you are respawning.

Players move around a lot. AI don’t move around as much.

There is an option that will target players first, then tab target to minions, unless no players are in target range/sight.

Wrong. That is not anywhere close that I asked for.

That is because what you asked for simply doesn’t exist, and never will. That is the closest thing to it though.

Now it makes me wonder where those steel beams are from and how that hatchling got in in there. It would not surprise me to find the Consortium setting things up so they will be “necessary” for quite some time in LA. Also I am wondering how involved is Job-O/Hero Tron in all this…..

I found an NPC named Chapel Woman sitting on Deverol Island who said the Consortium was building a chapel off site and going to airlift it in when it is done. It is fun walking around to see who you can speak with and what new things they are saying.

I did get a better picture of the hatchling. If you stand on the end of the beams you can look inside right at it.

Apply the lessons learned from Silverwastes to Southsun Cove!

This I wouldn’t mind, but the Karka themselves are just irritating to fight.

Triple health bars, insta-gib knockdowns, immunities, condis that can only be removed with dodges. *shudders

There just needs to be dedicated dueling areas, I suggested they use the old Lion’s Arch courtyard and turn it into an arena, it is already 1/2 way there anyways.

The area with the sand is already set up with a confined area + a gate, and on the opposite side of the piazza is an area that could be turned into the exact same thing.

i guess u just came here to troll, just like ur post suggests other people would w/ a dueling system. u didn’t even try to read the thread, all of the ~5 posts was too much for u.

because this guy already covered ur trolling, saying it should be an option u simply have disabled if u don’t want to duel

….. But yeah, in case you dont want to get spammed by fanboys wanting to duel with you there should be a function disabling duelling. ( like the dance thingy or smth, so people can see if you’re up for duelling).

trolls will be trolls. i can’t keep u from trolling threads (or a duel system). its something that is going to happen, but saying no one should have the ability to comment in threads (or duel in game) because there are going to be trolls isn’t fair to the people who want to have constructive conversations in forums (or duel because they like it/are bored in hotm/whatever)

LA Statue Area [Arena?!]

I just editted the OP with a screenshot, the area is near perfect for an arena in its current state, symmetrical to the area they added with the new vista/sand area, is a small cropping of just…dirt, that could easily be turned into another starting spot.
