This topic was originally posted in Necromancer sub forum but I am posting it here in the pvp sub forum to get more opinions. Link shows current build I’m playing around with which main focus is boon removals.

Hello everyone i’d like to ask the forums which class they think removes boons the best Necromancer or Mesmer. I’ve been playing around with boon removal with necro and find it to be useful in team fights and 1v1 but i’ve never really played mesmer enough to see how effective they are in boon removals. With necro I am able to constantly remove boons with dagger/focus or axe/focus while having enough sustain with staff/DS. Can mesmers constantly remove boons while at the same time sustain themselves enough or do they only do it per burst (so 3 boons removed from each shatter I think) and which in your opinion does it better?
After playing a few more days with Necromancers I honestly can’t see how Mesmer is better at boon removal compared to Necromancers. True Mesmers have a trait that lets them remove boon and sword auto attack also removed boons but realistically in a fight Sword auto will barely every get used enough to remove boons and their boon removal trait imo is not as strong as Chill of Death. Necromancers not only can stay in a fight longer then Mesmers but can rotate through their boon strips to do good damage and boon strip almost consistently when rotating between DS #2 Focus #5 CB AND Chill of Death. Personally I think Necromancers can more effectively use their boon strips while still doing enough damage and having enough sustain to fight 1v1.
I think the way points are rewarded are used as the handicap but I could be wrong. But I understand that you mean handicap within the actual match not for the leaderboards.
Nothing feels better when fighting a heavy boon build then stripping off all their boons and doing tons of damage/adding conditions (Debuff necro FTW!)
Well I’m sure everyone will be very happy I don’t qualify since I’m in Australia. lol
LMAO Vayne personally I wouldn’t mind I tend to agree with most thing you say but I’m sure a portion of the forum goers just sighed in relief
Use tact. Problem solved.
Also, sarcasm instead of insults, and be okay with people not agreeing with you. It’s a big world, and not everyone sees eye to eye.
Especially about topics which don’t have a “right” answer, which is basically anything not based on mathematics.
about right lol. Sarcasm is like an insult but the light version of it so idk be cautious of that one but everything else id agree.
Man idk if i should apply or not X.X i’ve always wanted to keep this game as a just for fun thing so idk if having that little bit of extra responsibility is ok or it might be too much. Lol I’m always on the forums anyways so idk……. man ill flip a coin lol let lady luck decide for me
Don’t do it…yet.
Let those that really want to do it take the first round, and let them be the ones that get hit with any problems. Then, when it’s more developed and the bumps are smoothed out, reconsider.
Yeah you might be right. Ill keep my eyes open and keep note on how it works but will let someone who is a bit more determined to take lead. But idk could work or could fail its all in the air till it actually happens. Hoping for the best.
Yeah its not perfect but its getting better. I think we should focus on improving this system then going back to the multi account farming that was being done in the last system.
So… Afking is a sign of skill.
Kk, got it.
LMAO!!! +100000000000.
Only pros AFK didn’t u know?….. /sarcasm
A little scenario for you all.
“Skilled player” – Im always being matched with noobs wtf! So I AFK because they are so bad whats the point?
Good player – Why do you AFK? Don’t you know the closer the game is the more points you get and not only climb ladder but get paired with higher skilled ppl
“Skilled player” – No ANET has to fix this because Im good because well I say I am so its true!
Good player – L2P you AFK/Rage quit NOOB!

Oh man don’t worry bro your not the only one frustrated with minions. The pathfinding on them is just……bad.
Thanks for the post. I’ve never noticed this O.O I have to start looking up more X.X

Link can help you out a bit.
Side points are Far and Home. Plus one fights are fights that your team has an extra player (you). Check out metabattle.com for builds once you learn them experiment and see what you like to play.
I actually like this idea. Seems like a cool way to add progression and depth to your characters.
Its my favorite activity in wintersday. Id be ok with it being year round I feel like I’m missing out because I’ve been in HotM all of winter lol.
This will just add fuel to the fire if you as a solo player are going to play against premades after your third victory. We don’t need more rage potential.
Not to mention, that the current point system is a big mistake, and needs a redesign quickly.
idk I like the point system… Before people use to solo in teamq so idk why its such a big deal now.
Lack of new content? 3 new maps, Fractals, dungeon path, EoTM, armor/weapon skins, new gemstore items, LS1 & 2, festivals and new crafting levels are what I can think of off the top of my head.
MMO’s typically don’t put out much content within their first couple of years as it’s spent smoothing over the game and putting in things that were promised but missed at launch. Yet we got all of the above for free!
Maybe you’re new to the MMO world but your expectations need to be checked. Now if the current pace of content continues than next year I might be joining you.
Also, check message boards and forums for spare tickets. You can usually find them as people’s plans change and what not.
It’s sad that I actually took the time to make a “thank you” thread rather than the usual complaining, and still get accused of “being new to mmos”. Is this where we compare who’s older and who’s been playing online games the longest? Kudos if you win, but I don’t think I’d bet on it.
Do we need to bring up GW1 and the amount of content and features it saw added in this same time frame? That’s my preferred example anyway; others like to use other games like FFXIV. Heck, even the original EQ has seen 21 xpacs in 15yrs. True, not all themepark games get lots of content added, some do. The ones that do tend to be more well regarded for it, and that used to include GW.
Maybe next time you shouldn’t lead your “positive” thread with the first paragraph filled with negativity. Comparing an MMO to an online-RPG is apples to oranges as well.
Plenty of new content has been released for a 2 year old MMO. Of course we want more because we all enjoy this game and I would be more than happy to see an XPac in late 2015;-)
Happy New Year!
Sure, lot’s of content has been released. That’s good. But the bad part? Not the right kind of content, the stuff we the community have been begging for since the launch of the game. We want new maps, we want new classes, we want new skills, new weapons. What do we get? Gem shop after gem shop crap. There is a limit. The content was also released using the worst possible medium. After the first few living story updates, the community already complained relentlessly about it. Only after a whole season they decided to change it, but still it the amount of permanent and repayable content out of living world is nothing but atrocious. There is only one way to save the game now from it’s very foreseeable demise. That is an expansion, or an overhaul of the current game adding in “real” content for the players, or else more and more veteran players will quit from the complete lack of things to do.
Got a mouse in your pocket? Your liberal usage of we, suggests that you do. You really seem sure of yourself with your predictions, got a score for the Superbowl? Get so tired of mouthy players thinking they speak for everyone.
+1
Yeah idk what your talking about with dark path that skill is extremely easy to dodge basically if u dont fear you almost always miss. DS skills in general are really easy to interrupt or dodge. Cele ele imo is they might need a slight shave in either survivability or DPS.
cantha cantha gooble gobble gooble gobble cantha cantha gooble gobble gooble gobble lol (I totally expect this post to be delete for not contributing anything to the conversation xP)
Hello all I’d like to make a suggestion for how points are made for the leader boards. My idea was adding a winning streak bonus to the way points are awarded. The leader boards seem to lack really only for the top tier by not properly representing skill over time played. I think that by adding win streaks it might help fix the problem with people having 50% or less W/L ratio and still being in top of the ladders because it would give more points to the players who are able to win more games consistently. This is really just a top of the head idea so I haven’t really come up with all the details but maybe after 3 games won every consecutive win after that will grant 2 ladder points instead of one to reward people a bit more.
Again this was just an idea that popped in my head and wanted to see what everyones thought on the forums would be and if you have any ideas please feel free to share.
I dont hate the idea of subclasses but idk if we are there yet. How would this affect PvP? Celestial Meta is still not considered balanced by the majority of the community subclasses could add to a bigger balance issue.
heck yeah bro! I agree!
when no one caps home in start of a conquest match.
LMAO wow Orpheal thanks for your colorful comments. X.X but tbh I don’t really get subclasses. Reminds me of just getting new skills but making them in “sets” lol which I wouldn’t mind getting new skill but I don’t see why they have to have like a set name for them (Ritualist/witcher) but idk thats just me. Builds are already subclasses like hambow or shoutbow etc… I’d prefer a prestige mode type thing for player progression more then subclass. Maybe subclass one day when we already have the game properly balanced and have enough different actual classes.
A few days ago I was playing a match 350-430 we had far/mid capped and home contested. A teammate said GG and stayed in the camp AFK…. Our team ends up winning mid and neutralize/cap home we had 3 capped them and 3 were waiting to respawn but one enemy had ran their home and another to our home so it was a 1v1 home we had won mid BUT! Since buddy boy decided he knew soooo much he didn’t run to secure far! We had 3 capped for around 5 seconds if he had been on point we could of had it for longer and most likely won the match……………………… Sadly mid didn’t get to far fast enough and since we had to split from mid once buddy boy realized that he caused us the match and went back to help we had lost mid and far and went to losing the match.
I’ve had matches that start 0-100 and turn and end 500-400 so idk what you mean lack of “turning point” its called 3 capping or getting good… If you AFK your honestly just probably a bad player. Funny most ppl who rage and AFK complain they are always teamed up with new players or unskilled players….. hmmm maybe their is a reason for that.
Paragons. Its that simple lol. Heavy armor ranged class that use shouts. Heck maybe this way warriors don’t have to use bows so much and can actually be used as pure melee class.
Happy New Years
Happy New Years all.
I have never been a huge mono-gamer. But GW2 has taken over my gaming life for over two years now. I have played it almost every day for that entire two years. It frightens me to be honest. But I have enjoyed every minute of it. The art. The music. The world. All fantastic. GW2 has the highest quality polish and the most solid base game of any of its peers. The combat system is a delight in particular. One of the best £30 I ever spent on a game.
In two years there has been %99.9 uptime on the servers. I remember WoWs ‘patch days’ where you might as well go do something else for that day.
I have been a believer in the Living Story ever since i felt they really started to hit their stride in the Tower of Nightmares release. And it continues to get better and better imho.
That said i have been everywhere. I have seen everything. I have collected pretty much all i want, and i have done the same content enough times to squeeze every ounce of enjoyment I can out of it.
Anet…please…I have money in my wallet, its yours if you want it, you know what you need to do…
EDIT: I forgot to add the most important thing of all. Community.GW2, on the whole, has one of the friendliest and most helpful communities of any game on the market too. Its in the design of the game to be that way i think. The community is active, its invigorating, it challenges my perceptions and understanding of the game. It makes me a better player. Its so so important to foster community and let it grow. And i think Anet understands this. Hell, they are part of it too! You see their passion for the game oozing out it in every direction! Especially Gaile, she is fanatically obsessed. I worry sometimes…
LOL the highlighted part is the funniest to me! Its so true too, people want more! I guess that is also a good thing if people want to buy more content then I guess thats a good problem.
Happy New Years all!
Oh the possibilities! X.X still #Kurzickforlife
Before didn’t people run solo in teamq? Idk i see it as the same thing.
Imagine they do DLC type thing. Not really an expansion but still way to give big change to gameplay.
They should wrap up the dragons with s3 this year, and then release an elona expansion based on palawa joko.
I’d prefer cantha but I know that won’t happen.
Yeah and I have great ways to write off the Dragons. Primordus has a giant rock fall onto his head. Jormag dies do to global warming. The Deep Sea Dragon dies do to all the pollution we dump into the ocean and Kralkatorrik, well we just conveniently find him dead.
LMAO was a good laugh. You have a talent for creating stories my friend.
Bring…Cantha…And…Elona…Back…
We…Will…Not…Let…It…Go…
This lol. I agree 100%
Downed state is for newbs! Get good moobs!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
:D this is why I like VeeWee so much. The colorful commentating. <3 just wanna be clear not being sarcastic I lol a lot even though I disagree with a lot of views
(edited by Zoso.8279)
Their was a data mined map that could possibly be a form of your suggestion would have to look around the interwebs to find the image. But its all speculation at this point.
Season 2 better then season one (haven’t played season 1 but thats the general opinion on the forums) some ppl actually like some of the changes that were made wow who would have ever thought of that?!?! Im excited @BlackFrog and its not based on blind faith its based on what i’ve seen so far. If you don’t like everything that has been added then sorry but a lot of people really do like them. What do I like? TP updates PvP updates new explorable zone (higher replay value) and the lore I actually like I haven’t finished the new episode but thats because PvP has got me hooked HotM is where I’ve spent the majority of my time atm. Improvements are always good blind faith and destructive pessimism are both bad in general.
Edit
Want to make clear I’m also with everyone who want an expansion. If they released one tomorrow best believe i’d buy it. But LS is still nice and I like to have something to look forward too every few weeks.
(edited by Zoso.8279)
Yeah I actually like your tips they make sense. You’d think most of the tips would be common knowledge but NPE was created for a reason lol. #7 and #8 I think are extremely important. TBH I still kitten up on this sometimes X.X
I just want to post a comment I made in another topic can’t find it so ill just summarize. From my level of experience (or lack of) and from what I see when I play I actually like the celestial meta aside from the swaps that I feel play a role why cele amulet feels so op I actually think the game is getting closer to being completely balanced. Every class that i’ve played feels like it has a counter and only a few builds seem OP. Again I’m by no means a pro or have as much knowledge of the game as the higher tier players but just wanted to give my thoughts on the celestial meta in general.
Actually idk if it because i talk to my team or make plans before hand or I just get lucky and get matched with cool people but i’ve had more matches end 350-500 or 400-500 then 50-500 or 0-500. Just my personal experiences. I’ve had more GGWP then GG lol.
Seems all too common for people to trash talk GW2 while it’s pretty clear that there’s not really any better MMO PvP game out there…
i am not sure if your comment is referring to me but i think it is important to point out the flaws of a game if you expect them to be corrected. the fact that it seems that there is no better (at least at the moment) pvp based mmorpg (there are some good pvp mmo games though) game does not make gw2 perfect and it certainly does not make my objections misplaced.
I actually agree with you here. Still like GW2 lol just saying.
Yeah something along the lines of OP suggestion would be nice. Not everyone will get points in each category but it is a better way of showing who is doing what in a match (Bunkers/Roamers/etc..) and can also imo direct peoples attention so they know what to look for when playing or watching a game.
Ok after playing with it a few days changing from axe to dagger was a good decision. Being able to use Chill of Death in Spite really helps to finish ppl off and while I was thinking the LF wasn’t going to fill as fast with dagger its not very noticeable. The one disadvantage I see to dagger even though the good outweigh the bad is the range. Axe range really helps in keeping people under pressure the whole fight but still the cleave of dagger is a nice replacement.
Another expansion thread?
lol the pic is hilarious! +1
Why can’t we have both LS and expansion? Am I being too selfish? I think I remember hearing an interview where they said they didn’t have to stop LS to do an expansion ill have to look to find the interview.
Lol OP AI build will ALWAYS get hate just have to understand what your getting yourself into really. I’ve always played minion type roles in every game I play I like feeling like I’m swarming my enemy so thats how I play but people will always get mad because they feel its overpowered. Turret engi is not overpowered if that was the case you’d see them being played in tournaments and by the pros/top players. Turret engi can be countered by pew pewing from distance or ganking them because they have 0 mobility. Top players actually consider turret engi kinda free points tbh. OP just keep doing what your doing and bask in the hate! Let them hate from their downstate!!!!!
I always like a good read (map chats can get pretty good sometimes and nice debates can be had when cool people are in your zone that understand the difference between debating and insulting) ill have to check out some of these RP zones when I’m in a major city I do agree it makes the world feel more alive but have to say haven’t ran into a lot of RPers but the few that I have met were really nice so kudos to that RP community lol. But to OP I can understand why he would be upset in a situation like this both sides have valid reasons but in an MMORP its kinda hard to “claim” zones both RP and non-RP.
